[Q] Hello From A Born-Again Android User - LG Nitro HD

Hi guys!
I've been a member of XDA Forums, but it's been a while since I checked in. I originally joined when I bought the worst Android Phone ever....The HTC Aria. I put my sim in my old iPhone 3G and have been waiting to get a new Android phone since. I'm back on the wagon and just got an LG NITRO HD. I love this phone and am happy to be back with Android. I haven't modified this phone or screwed with it in any way, but there's always hope! I loved running the mods that I found here on my Aria and I loved Cyanogen 7. Has anyone run any of these ROMs on their Nitro and how do they run?
Anyways, I'm glad to back and I can still remember the thrashing I got from my fellow forum members when I asked stupid questions. I'm sure I'll see them again!
Gino

Currently there are only three roms for the nitro hd.
Kernalpan1c's mod is the one I use currently.
There is a rumor that there is a CM9 ICS coming out for it

Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V needs xda's love!

i am here to request a forum for the lg optimus V. though it may not be a next generation super phone... it runs on virgin mobile for 25$ a month unlimited data. with no cap. not yet atleast. plus the phone is 150$. beats the samsung intercept, which is full of bugs.
its clocked to 600mhz...but has been clocked to 8xxmhz and it capable of runnin some heavy graphics games. the phone is showing promise.
with xda's help, this could be the best prepaid android phone you can get. thank you for your consideration.
I agree the phone has potential.
+1 Hands down the BEST pre-paid phone I have EVER owned or used! I think this is only a sign of better things to come people. Just put CM7 on my V last night and am VERY pleased soo far.. And for $150?? I thought I was robbing the Radio Shack!
bump for development.
overclock kernals, data throttle bypassing, ports of CM7.... the optimus v would fit in just fine here in xda. and thnk of what it could be pushed to do with the support of the pros here at xda.
BUMP for a dedicated forum.
Definitely want this as well, I'm now in love. Found out about this phone yesterday, bought it and canceled service with Sprint.
By far the best in its class. By that meaning the pre-paid, mid-range class. Still have yet to root it due to time but going to next week. Looking to OC it as well.
just rooted my first one last night! easy as pie. run superoneclick... then run z4root. done.
so...i put it thru some tests...
i'm thinkin no way it can angry birds without lag. 600mhz? no lag.
i'm thinkin no possible way it can run fruit ninja... it does. flawlessly.
so...it definately cant do a video call with assistance from the vainworks stand. no way. if you got wifi...you can do it. tested.
i dunno whats up with that little 600mhz processor but its runnin top notch. i'm very impressed. its runnin step for step with my g2.
I'm also for creating a separate forum for Optimus V. I've owned one for 2 weeks now and it is, by far, the best phone I've had to date.
Dedicated Forum!
+1 one for dedicated forum! This phone deserves it.
I also vote for a Optimus V forum.
+1, count me in.
I have asked for a optimus one / optimus V merge.
Now optimus V has a new android developing forum in our Optimus One section.

Just got my E4GT!

My company finally upgraded our team away from the rancid display that is "Blackberry Enterprise Server" and we've gotten to choose our phone.
I chose Sprint/E4GT; where as everyone else selected droid bionic with VZW.
The phone is simply amazing. I've really been amazed at this community and looking forward to seeing all the development that's happening. Still trying to decide on rooting yet; may be waiting till stock rom available.
I've been searching/reading this forum for the better part of 3 days straight while waiting for my preorder to come in - Figured it's time to get myself started on the 10 posts. I've never owned anything but blackberries due to work so I am as happy as humanly possible right now.
Looking forward to being a part of this community. Plz dont flame a noob for saying hello!
whats up and the phone is pretty amazing isn't it?
Im getting mine till friday. stupid ups....

Hello, you made the right choice 8p

Noob to XDA but not Android

Just wanted to say hi to a new forum. I've been flashing roms on my tbolt for a while but thats my work phone. Finally ditched my personal CrapBerry for a GNex. I love this phone and this is the Place for Gnex dev work. Been a a blast so far lurking.
Hope to have a lot of fun!
Welcome

Noob question

So, I have been with Android since the G1 and then switched to the OG Droid on Verizon. Ever since the beginning I have been rooting and rom'ing my phones and loving every minute of it. I recently switched to Sprint because I absolutely loved the 4.5" SGS II and I'm in love with this phone. The exynos processor is insane, and should keep this phone near the top of the pile for a long time to come. Okay, enough ranting. My question is, does anybody have a single link or maybe a couple of links that I should go to if I was interested in starting to create my OWN rom for my phone? I am completely clueless about where to start and what to download, etc. and I know there are a ton of awesome devs in our community so I was hoping somebody would be able to give me a sort of headstart by showing me a site where somebody may have compiled all of the tools you need to get started. I appreciate any help in advance. Thanks guys.

[Q] Is there no Android 5.0 development possible from the Nexus 5 preview code?

I can't think of any other way to ask the question so forgive me for that convoluted topic, but I'm honestly curious. I just got a G2 yesterday, spent hours getting it figured out, read a few hundred posts and dozens of threads, finally got CloudyG3 running great on it and now I figured I'd pose the question.
Because the Nexus 5 preview of Android 5.0 has been out for a while, and there are quite a few ROMs based on that, and because the LG G2 and the Nexus 5 share basically the same hardware across the board, I'm really wondering why there doesn't seem to be any interest whatosever (or from what I can tell) in potentially porting that over to the LG G2? Is this device really that far out of bounds at this point in time - I say that because I know the "crowds" flock to the most popular devices for ROM development by nature, and that's fine.
I'm not knocking the amazing work of each and every dev here at XDA Developers - it is after all a forum for them, not casual users like myself, so I'm happy to be able to partake of the products and ROMs they create for so many of us to actually put to use.
It just seems a bit odd to me I suppose that the G2 and the N5 are basically the same devices when you really dig into the hardware specs (with some differences, obviously, but they share far more in common than they don't). I mean, I remember when the Nexus 4 and the Optimus G came out and there was a ton of stuff you could do between them since again they were basically the same devices in different packaging much like the N5 and the G2 happen to be also.
Is there something I'm missing here, something that flat out makes porting over any version of that Nexus 5 Android 5.0 preview code to the G2 impossible? Or is it just not worth the time for whoever to do it - I'm not a dev at all, don't have nearly the talent for this kind of stuff that so many others do so, I'm a dead end myself.
This CloudyG3 port of the G3 stock ROM is damned nice, it really is, it's like a totally different device in many respects with enhanced features the G2 has always been capable of anyway (the 4K video recording, etc) and this ROM brings that out.
I'm just wondering now what LG has in mind for their initial G2 Android 5.0 release after the first of the year.
Anyway, just thought I'd toss the question out there as I can't find a single thing related to this here or at the LG G2 subforum either. If it's absolutely not possible, I can comprehend that - it's just that the hardware is so similar I have to wonder why nobody has put forth any effort at all, I guess.
Comments and discussion are always welcome...
We don't need or want to port the preview lollipop version from the nexus. The g2 is going to have have an update to lollipop 5.0 either Jan or Feb. The lg g3 will be getting 5.0 before us so a dev may port that rom before our official update. Also cm12 should be coming out this month so we will have a 5.0 lollipop very soon. Hope that answers your question

It's a start I suppose, just seemed weird that the preview code has been available for quite some time and apparently nobody considered it worthy of a porting attempt.
And yes, I realize that when Lollipop drops for the G3 someone (Cloudyfa, hopefully, because of his excellent CloudyG3 for the G2) will most likely do their best to port it over fast, probably before we even see the official G2 build appear which will be pretty cool.
Fun times ahead...
I also think it is due to it being just a preview. No developers feel it is solid enough to work with.
I also agree that it is strange that the g2 and nexus 5 are almost completely alike except camera of course. But no real change of Roms.
Look into the non sprint development. And you will find many support the ls980. You just have to look hard. Being that every carrier and international worldwide have this phone.
