I have been reading the CyanogenMOD 7 Nightlies thread and thought I would go thru and make a list of the FAQ's that people ask.
Got the idea from Phateless and his Post #863
If anyone has any others to add, let me know and I will add them.

No worries, everyone has this issue. At best guess, i'd think it to be a recovery issue, since I don't recall
having that issue previous to CWM 3.xx recoveries. I've been waiting for a fix so I can re-calibrate my battery
too. It's not bad enough that I'd downgrade to CM6 to do so, but I like to do it every couple of weeks.
This is a known bug on the phone/recovery, it isnt rom related. It has been happening since root was had on the

WiFi Calling and MMS Problems (Post 4956)
Fixed my issues with Wifi-Calling MMS.
I talked to TMobile and they gave me the correct info for the APN settings.
I deleted both of the APNs listed under wireless settings and created a new one.
Just in case any of you are having issues with SMS or MMS using Wifi-Calling.. give this a shot.
Create a new APN.
Name: T-Mobile
APN: epc.tmobile.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.050
Port: 8080
Username: leave blank
Password: leave blank
Server: leave blank
MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.050
MMS Port: 8080
MCC: 310
MNC: 260
Authentication Type: leave blank
APN: default, supl, mms (Very important to not have a space in there.. just the ,)
hit the menu button and hit save. then use that apn. You should now have working MMS and SMS.
Nice! This should stop all the questions that are asked every time.
Great work, this is exactly what I proposed before but it got shut down by our mod.

Nice writeup Zig! This will help people tweak their CM7 to a tee! Thanks for that GPS tweak, I missed that one and my GPS is locking on faster with it!
this is great..wish this was up when i was trying to root but its great.
question. What is the advantage of flashing the nightlies? I dont like flashing and restoring daily. I'll rather just use one nightly until the RC is out. So I'm curious to know what improvements the nightlies come with.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA App
Thanks so much for this! I missed the GPS trick too! I was wondering if it was just me, or if the GPS really was locking slower. Great work!
And viper, the only advantage I've found to flashing nightlies, is that some issues will get fixed with the later versions. You also don't have to do a full wipe with every flash. You can just flash right overtop of your current CM7 nightly and it shouldn't affect your setup at all. Of course you should always do a nandroid beforehand. But with the later nightlies I have been missing my screen off animations. But considering the rest of the improvements, I will survive.

I will try to find a working link, I just copied what was in the CM7 Nightly thread. I did test it when I made the FAQ and it was working.
If I can't find it, I will remove it from the FAQ
EDIT: I FIXED THE LINK, SHOULD BE OK NOW. For some reason, link did not copy correctly when I pasted it. It will go right to the Launcher download.

I haven't found a way to yet. That was one of my favorite extras about CM. So I'm a little disappointed it hasn't made it's way in there yet. But these are only alpha releases so it could be added later.

I think that questions about CM Nightlies should just be asked here from now on, to avoid cluttering the CM thread anymore...and then when new solutions are found they can be exported right to the OP.
[Q] Has there been any information regarding sketchy media players? Or has it even been accepted issue? When I play pandora sometimes songs just stop randomly...and when I try to play music in the media player, songs stop very frequently..... I heard some people concur with these issues, dunno if anyone ever really addressed it though? Ty

Hi All,
I recently updated from "Cyanogenmod Jellytime by randomblame 4.1 R28" to R30. I am unable to sent MMS message since updating they where sending on R28.
Also my GPS hasnt worked on either R26, R28 or R30. I have read a couple of posts in the issue tracker but im still not 100% certain what to do.
Any help will be appreciated
Thanks
HI
My idea for fixing the issues:
1. MMS - go to the hidden menu with *#*#4636#*#* on your dialpad, then choose "phone information", go to SMSC and hit refresh (I suppose it was empty field and after hitting refresh, some phone number should appear there);
2. GPS - go to any file manager with root access, go to "etc" directory and delete "gps.conf" file;download this file: http://derekgordon.com/gps-files/agps.patch.google.build.v3.1.zip and flash in recovery (or extract gps.conf file from the zip and copy it to the etc folder (I did the second in Total Commander and it worked); reboot. After that you should get rapid lock with 5-8 satellites. But don't download new agps data using any app like "gps status" after that - somehow it messes up my gps.conf file and I have to do the steps above again to get a lock.
Let me know if that helped - it's my first advice I gave on xda. I hope it will work with you.
Hey,
check out the Jellytime thread, both of these topics were discussed many times there.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1778202
Hi martinez1,
MMS are now working. Thanks for that. GPS still the same, ill do some more reading in here and I might just do a fresh aahk over the weekend.
Thanks
I have been running CM 11 Nightly builds, and everything has been working out pretty good, until just a day or so ago.
Now suddenly I find that I never get a data connection (3G, etc) - works fine on Wi-Fi of course though.
Using the FC09 multiboot, I am able to prove that it is not an issue with my phone hardware or my Sprint account.
FC09 has data connection and everything is cool, until I reboot into latest CM 11 (right now = cm-11-20140305-NIGHTLY).
(Since I don't have enough posts yet to ask this in the development thread, I thought I'd try here and see if I had any luck.)
In trying to research this, I see some talk of "APN settings" - but I cannot for the life of me figure out how to access those settings to change them
(Some advice said to speak "Open APN" into the voice dialer? But that is not doing anything for me...)
I guess I am also curious if this is happening to anyone else using CM 11 Nightly builds?
Again, the data connection works when I "multiboot" FC09, but cannot get it to work on latest CM 11 Nightly.
Any help or suggestions on things to check/tweak are highly appreciated - thank you in advance.
Yap... that append to me also, i'm on a GT-I9000 with the same NIGHTLY version. That must be a rom problem, because with the previous version, worked ok.
Getting closer to a solution (?)
Same problem (currently running cm-11-20140306-NIGHTLY)
I did finally figure out how to acces the "Open APNs" screen.
My mistake was trying to say "Open APN" from the regular phone dialer, which just threw the voice command to Google.
Then it suddenly clicked - they meant the separate application that is named "Voice Dialer".
(thought I would post that in case it saves anybody else some headache)
So then I found this buzzmobile link that lists "Sprint APN Settings for Android (US)"
http://buzzmobile.us/sprint-apn-settings-android-us/
I thought I was just about to get this all taken care of... BUT, now here is the problem:
No matter how many times I have tried to enter and re-enter the APN settings, they are not being saved.
I don't know if anyone has any experience with this issue, but if you have any advice, I am all ears - thank you.

Boot into the temporary FC09 installation and try the "##DATA#" dialer code. If thats not the right code then its gotta be another one that allows you to access these settings. You may also need your MSL.
My journey
OK, so I'm back in business again, and thought I would share...
1) Booted into the "multiboot" FC09 and installed 'APN Backup & Restore' app
2) Made a backup .xml file from there
3) Rebooted back into CM11
4) Installed 'APN Backup & Restore' app - BUT - could not restore the APN .xml file yet - special steps needed to get this to work with KitKat
5) Installed 'ES File Explorer File Manager' app
6) Followed instructions in this article to change 'APN Backup & Restore' to a system app:
How To Install Any App As A System App On Android [Guide]
NOTE FOR KITKAT: where it says to move the app to /system/app, you actually have to move it to /system/priv-app
7) After following that, I opened up 'APN Backup & Restore' app, but I was confused that it still said "Unfortunately APNs cannot be restored or deleted on this device because Android 4.0+ does not allow 3rd party apps to Write APN Settings."
8) Then I realized that I still needed to go into the settings of the app and click 'Disable ICS Check'
9) Then the app was recognized as a system app and I could do a restore from my .xml file
[EDIT: attaching a .zip of the .xml file that I snagged from booting into FC09]
Code 14: Could not open database. Some sort of permissions problem?
I have had CM 12.1 on a Nexus 5 for a while. Every time I upgraded to CM13 everything would work fine EXCEPT messaging would keep throwing "Sorry, messaging has stopped" message. So I Stayed on CM12.1. I just upgraded to a Nexus 5X and there is no CM12.1 for it so I tried Cm13 (Latest Nightly 6-18) and it seemed to work fine, just on WiFi and setting it up. I loaded what I always do, Android Firewall, checked all my permissions in Privacy Guard, used SU2.95 so I would have root. It still worked fine connected to my WiFi. I just got back from TMobile where I had to switch from MicroSIM to NanoSIM. put the sim in and the same messaging error shows up. So, working backwards, I unchecked ALL privacy guard, turned OFF the firewall, and rebooted. Still gives me the messaging error. So, I finally read the error message and its SQLite Error 14 on some database. Any ideas what I could try next? I suppose I can reload CM and set it all up again, and see where it starts to fail but that would be throwing away 4 hours from yesterday. I'm also not certain that the native App permissions aren't involved somehow. The phone IS encrypted but I have tried it both ways in the past.
I know there are all sorts of geniuses on here, and I am not smart enough.

EDIT : APN issue? reset to default TMobile settings and rebooted. still fails.
EDIT : could it be that I used the PICO version of OpenGAPPS? anyone had a problem with that? been searching still...
SOLVED : I'm such an idiot. I have been moving my blacklist.db database from version to version so I dont have to put all the numbers in again (wouldn't it be nice if there was a blacklist manager? I have all these spam numbers attached to a contact but you still have to choose them one by one) and of course between CM 12.1 and CM 13 they changed the database format or something so thats why it was crashing. Just one of the many steps I took getting my new phone set up.
If you pull SIM card out of the phone, does the crash still happen?
