1) Root your european pro ( with froyo), install bootstrap for droid 2, clockwordmod,
2) Reboot in clockwordmod
3) choose install from zip and choose gingerbread kernel zip (see point 6 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365444.) DON't Reboot!
4) Wipe all data and format system, always in clockwordmod, without reboot!
5) install cyanogenmod 9 or Cyanogenmod 7 (droidforums), or apex, choosing install from zip
6) Now reboot!!!!!! in ICS or cgm 7!!!
7) If you want restore your backup, reboot in clockwordmod and only now choose your backup
thanks to all!!
The baseband:
European is n-01.1b.03r (froyo),
american is n-01.81.00r or N_01.77.00R
For froyo again: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=24710152#post24710152
Sounds great! I will try it on the weekend.
Have you discovered any disadvantages in the US roms with European providers?
Did you have to change the phys. keyboard layout?
General question: If anything goes wrong with the US rom, it should still be possible to flash the Argentinian 2.3.6 right?
thx!
yes! you can flash in 2.3.6... I didn't see any disadvantage...
Great discovery, cheers mate
Btw, Vice Versa, is that still no luck to use Euro DP's rom on Verizon?
and something wanna know more, what is the point to wait for 3 hours after flashing? What if I dont and what if I do?
I got a verizon, I just wanna make sure to know everything before trying anything.
Thanks and sorry for the crappy English since I am not native.

if something goes wrong,
i can flash 2.3.6, but then i'm stuck till there's a rot exploit for this rom, right (so with 2.3.6 no way for CM7/9?)

yes... You can flash to 2.3.6 but we don't have any root...
remember to format your system before flashing ics or cgm.
ics is very good, but we don't have camera!
cgm 7 is very good, but the gsm/wifi data are very bad!

I don't have the european pro, I use the american droid pro but on GSM. My experience was that Apex was much more usable for GSM users than CM7. CM7 had issues with switching back and forth between wifi and gsm and required some special reboot process when switching between the two which made it pretty unusable for me. Apex has a couple quirks as well, such as a weird dialer (can be replaced by d/ling touchpal dialer) and no proximity sensor.
With the exception of the non-working camera, the ICS build is probably the best of the roms. Once they're able to find a workaround for the camera, the ICS CM9 build will be the best rom to use. Especially since both CM7 and Apex are no longer being updated.
do ics or cm7 support german as language?
how about qwertz layout?

Are there any chances this method would work for the Droid Pro Plus as well?
I dont really want to mess up the whole phone by trying to mod it in any way that might not work for it.
Im really disappointed there is absoluteley no information on the internet at all about the Pro Plus, I cannot understand why...

Greetings fellow Friends from Galaxy
I just moved myself from the HTC Magic section to this one.. It was quite a jump, the Galaxy S Camera and 4inch screen are AWESOME =)
I have a few noob questions that I don't want to spread through many posts, so i've chosen to get them all here, without polution this forum section. Also they might come in handy for future Galaxy S buyers!
My phone is: 2.1-update1 @ I9000XXJF5
Question #1
Well at first glance everyone's trying to fix the "LAG PROBLEM"... I haven't noticed any lag!! What are we talking about? If its a fix.. i want it too
Click to collapse
the lag problem does not accure instantly after startup, it takes a while to do so.
Question #2
The phone came with Android 2.1, but at samsung-firmwares.com and at this dev section of the forum, i saw the JP3 Froyo release. How stable is this? Is it already a daily driver or a total beta? As an Android lover, i'd love to have the latest
Click to collapse
this release is, lets say, alpha quality, however some do use it daily and seems to be stable so far, but the jit is broken, so dont expect it to be faster than eclair
Question #3
I've used the One Click rooting solution and then the ROM Manager Clockwork to boot into clockwork rom and make a full-system backup. In my HTC Magic i had the recovery ROM (Amon_RA) flashed into the internal phone memory, so even if i didn't have a ROM installed, i was ALWAYS able to boot into recovery. That was a safety plus. How can i flash the Clockwork Recovery directly to my phone, without the ROM Manager? I'd feel more secure if i could count on recovery even if, for example, i flashed a non-working system ROM.
Click to collapse
you can run the clockwork recovery from original recovery by simply running it´s update.zip, this does in fact load the clockwork recovery into memory
Question #4
So what is YOUR favourite ROM? My stock has some unwanted apps, and even worse, it's Eclair. I'd like to switch soon, but i don't know these Galaxy S ROMs Tell me what's the best ROM for you!
Thanks guys, XDA is indeed the #1 place for mobile stuff
Cheers

If JIT is broken, the rest of new 2.2 features can be achieved through Market tools... I'll stick to 2.1 then. By the way, where's a CLEAN 2.1 Rom? this one has lots of service-provider tools... They suck.

Now That's a fix! So i just have to keep my update.zip of Clockwork Rom in INTERNAL SD CARD so that anytime, anywhere, i just have to perform update.zip and the Clockwork will boot ONCE from RAM and them be cleared at next boot, right?

Give it a try, it clears out the stock rubbish and leaves it in a folder on ur sd card to install later if you need it.

Hello,
Is there any chance we will see Eugene's AOSP Vibrant ROM on our I9000 Froyo ?
It would be what a lot of us are looking for in a while.
Link to Eungene's ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773018
The vibrate version is fully functional on I9000,
Use odin to flash JM9 first, the apply the ASOP on top. Very nice rom and the fastest for SGS, apps open instantly.

Maybe I will give it a try
@DocRambone: I saw that you asked Eugene on how to optimize his ROM for I9000. What about porting this to 2.2 ?
I will buy you lots of beer.
Thanks
do the download and recovery keys stay in the same place if you put this rom on?

EDIT: I am currently flashing to JM9 with JM7 modem and CSC, then will apply R4. By any chance are you aware how to remove Vibrant logo at boot ?
what thas it mean can we put this rom in our i90000 with no trouble and the other rom like bionix?could we put them in there?
Dont know about bionix, but as Doc said, it should work with JM9. As said, I will flash and try and let you know the result. Fingers crossed.
Jm9 and this excellent rom is ok, i use it right now.
There is a bug tho:

This ASOP r4 is not froyo, its 2.1 rom. Make sure that the rom you take from Vibrate forum don't include kernel or modem.. or you may brick your phone otherwise
So wat exactly do you need to do in odin after flashing JM9 with the zip file from the vibrant forum and the freezing fix?

Indeed very very fast... Too bad my SIM does not get unlocked. Its useless to me

Good news from Handler_Exploit ???
Check out his twittering
sounds interesting!
no bootloader?
Steve that's not what he meant. There is a bootloader, and a recovery. What he's saying is that the kernel doesn't have to be signed with a proprietary encryption key from Motorola to be able to function. At least that's my interpretation.
Meaning that once you get a recovery, we will be able to compile stuff from source. Meaning 2.2 it's possible before released by Motorola
sounds good,whatever,defy is great phone
If it turns out this phone is wide open for hacking, that'll be a sign I should sell my Milestone for a Defy.
sense
I am porting sense from desire hd to the defy . who has time to support me
What about Froyo Vanilla?
Just hit me up if you guys need hosting for your roms. I have 30/30 fiber at home, lots of space (relatively speaking) and I could dial that fiber up to 90/90 if necessary

If it's possible to get Froyo on there before Motorola pull their collective fingers out, then it must be just as possible to get a working Gingerbread ROM, right?

Well, as I don't care much about flashing lots of cooked ROMs which are released on the development section all the time, or even going back to the stock Eclair ROM, I decided to flash the full version. Decision I haven't regreted so far, by the way. But, that's my particular case! So, if you plan to flash CM7, I think it will be better for you to pick the fixed version.

Carlos

I don't know much, either. Android is new to me as well. Anyway, what I've called 'full', ketonkss4 has called 'Regular'. It's the ROM as leaked from Moto. As far as I know, a fixed ROM is recooked to remove some CGs, which would prevent your device from being downgraded, if you intended to do so.
Anyway, here is a guide for flashing CM7, in case you haven't already read it, that is.

Carlos
