I did a full wipe installed mexdroid mod atomic and had a perfect phone. i was getting excellent 4g speeds but after a while i would have perfect signal and then it says no signal. i have to do a battery pull to get it working again. I was wondering if anyone else is having this issue and/or what can i do. This happened after i installed dz hboot. would flashing stock g2 hboot do the trick??
Try updating your radio.. Maybe that'll help.
I have the same problem on MyTouch 4g never lost reception till I used this Rom? Any Suggestions?
...Awesome...
The hboot has nothing to do with the signal you are receiving. I would try a different radio. You can also try reflashing the rom, as maybe something did not install properly.
It has been a while since I used that rom, but I recall having signal issues with it as well. I do not think mine were as severe as having to do a battery pull, but none the less I recall they were there.

So I've been running cm7 for a while now with no problems at all with my GPS after the sense GPS fix. Today I updated my radio prl pri combo thing and my GPS only locks for 1 second or so then even the icon dissapears. So I flashed cm7 over itself and its still broke. Anyone know a good combo for the GPS or a fix?
Have you tried the re-doing the "sense GPS fix" you mentioned? You can asking try shutting down your device, pulling the battery, reinserting the battery and then powering up your device to see if that helps.
posting & replying via the XDA Premium app.
Yeah I've pulled the battery more then once. Does anyone know if updating radio combo ect... would make me need to do the sense fix again?
Because that's a giant pain in the ass.
Hi, did you ever got your radio to work again? I have the exact same problem now. I tried an old rom (Floyo 1.2) and thought I might as well update the radio. I did a full wipe and everything went fine, but I can never get a GPS signal. I have tried GPS status and toolbox -> reset -> download assist data but to no luck. Then I tried six different radio versions (old and new), the Floyo Euro GPS zip, the Salsa rom and Elelinux' 2.3.4 rom but none of them works. If I try to let GPS status keep running for a minute or so, the phone will eventually do a hard reboot :/

Try and flash back to a sense based rom and reflash the updated radio and then update your prl reboot and update your profile do that twice should clear up your issues.
miui-us I'm having issues with GPS on CM7 as well, but I never got it to work with a sense fix or anything...I'm going to see if I can get it working when I flash a sense rom first. If it works then I'll try what you said.
Same thing happened to me after updating the radios. Looks like it's time for the PITA Sense and back fix.
Trying it now, but it takes about an hour, I will get back to you....
So I recently installed MIUI, and as soon as I did my Wifi radio stopped working. Every time I try to switch it, it turns back off and says "error."
I figured this was a problem with my radio (26.02.01.15_M2) when I found another irksome problem. When I go to flash PC10IMG.zip the bootloader gets to "Checking PC10IMG.zip) and then quits and refuses to attempt the update.
Any ideas?
I apologize if this question has been asked, but I couldn't find anything similar in the short search I did.
Thanks in advance!
Could be a bad download? Which Radio are you trying to flash?
Download the radio from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
Dont know what ROM you are running but Vision_Radio_12.52. 60.25_26.08.04.30 seems to be a good one, download the attached file for wiping the EFS(Important when flashing radios)
The link has further instructions and information, hope that helps
Hey, thanks for your response! I actually tried three different Radios from that thread (the first three), and none of them worked. I ran an efs wipe yesterday because I was having GPS problems, and these problems persisted after that...
FWIW, when I flash other kernels/ROMs, things work fine (CM7, PyroMod, Stock) but on MIUI these problems crop up.

Do you mean you can update the radio with other ROMs or do you mean that the wifi problem is only on MIUI?If your problem is only with MIUI cant help as I dont use that ROM but still doesnt explain your problem with flashing a radio as the bootloader is independent of the ROM
I think the wifi radio and the cellular radio are different and when you flash the radio firmware, it only updates the cellular radio firmware. Someone more knowledgable than me will probably correct me. It's probably something screwy with the MIUI roms which is effecting you. If you want to use MIUI then try one of the other MIUI roms that are out there and also notify the developer of the MIUI rom your using about your issue.
I hate the recent radios for G2 latest one from Bell sucks. Signal drops every few seconds, data connection is just OK. Very disappointed. I did the efs wipe and auto ril matcher V6 and all this other bs and I hate it.

hey guys, pretty excited to see that the cyanogenmod team have just put up a stable 7.1.0, so i'm keen to flash. only thing is, they recommend a radio too and i haven't flashed a radio before, lots of warnings about it being dangerous etc, so i just wanted to check:
should you flash radio then rom? or rom then radio? i know this question has probably been asked a million times before, but when i searched this site it seems that no one has a definitive answer, with different people saying different things!
so are there any experienced CM users out there that have a certain way of doing things?
cheers!
I rarely change my radio, but I usually do ROM then Radio.
I don't think it matters, but I could be wrong.
Probably worth waiting til someone else looks at this thread.
Good luck!
EDIT: I'm downloading 7.1.0 now, but I won't be changing my radio from 26.09.04.11_M2
I'd just flash the new radio after.
There is no need to change the radio for CM rom's . Just flash the rom and check for reception and wifi signal strength .

is your radio newer than 26.04.02.17 anyway since it's 26.09 etc? is that how the numbering system works?

no worries mate! As you can see by my signature I've already moved on to a newer radio again, and in fact ditched CM for BlackICE. And i'm about to move on to the stable v1.1 from the latest beta! (I've become a bit of a flashoholic lately...)
Thanks for the reply
I seem to be getting sporadic loss of signal either data connection or WiFi connection on my Desire HD. The phone still says it's connected to the access point but I cannot send or receive any data from my phone once this happens (the status bar for wifi and data 4g goes from green to white) I'm using Cyanogenmod 7.1 with Lordmod Kernel and the latest radio.
I can't for the life of me figure out what's going on and was wondering if anyone else with a similar setup as mine have been getting the same issues?
Any suggestions guys? I have the newest .19 radio flashed

strange! not sure why that would be happening but it seems to be a common problem, there's a conversation about it going on here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1085725&page=458 (3rd post down and then onwards)
Okay so I have CyanogenMod and I am still running nightly 56. About a month or two ago, my screen became unresponsive in certain areas. I was told that it was a hardware issue and required replacement, but I am really unsure about how to unroot, so I haven't returned it to stock. Today, as I took my phone off Airplane Mode, the dbm signal meter read -1 and I had no service. No matter what I do (battery pull, wipe cache, on/off airplane mode) I don't get signal. Has anybody else experienced this before? Or do I finally need to face my fear of unrooting my phone and sending it in?
Are you still rooted and running cm7? did you play around with the network options in settings? This sometimes causes no signal issues if not done correctly. I would try flashing 56 again after you wipe cache and dalvik, or flash the newest 100 nightly or cm7 stable build, both which have been reported to work now.
I have always had issues with cm7 on my inc2. From the earlier days to current versions. It is like my phone doesn't like aosp tons. I always have inconsistent signal and my highest battery drainer is cell.

So you think this is a software issue, not a hardware issue with the radio? And is it okay to jump from nightly 56 to nightly 100 without a full wipe? Thank you so much for your help.
yes it is ok to jump without a full wipe. just wipe cache and dalvik. and the only way to tell if its a software issue is to try different roms. try a newer nightly and if that gives you problems try a sense based rom and if it still doesnt work then it might be a hardware issue.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Okay. I overcame my fear of unrooting and I'm stock now. The signal does work, so you were right, it was a software problem. My screen is still unresponsive though. I switched to stock, but my phone is now 2.2.1. Will that be a problem for returning it for a replacement?
My wife and i got our GNex phones at the same time in April through the Amazon wireless store. Both of our phones had to be repalced by amazon within the 30 day window for 4g/3g/1x signal drop issue. 4g radio would just totally crap out, then would wipe out the 3g and then i would have a complete signal loss. Everything was fine after we got the replacement phones. My wifes phone is totally stock and has had zero issues. Mine is rooted running AOKP toro IMM761, Android 4.04. 4 days ago it started having the rampant 4g signal crash issue again. I've turned off the 4g radio for now, but according to NoSignalAlert, with just the 3g radio on i've had complete signal loss 7 times today. I'm in the same area as usual, my house and my office where i normally have 2+ bars of 4g. I'm thinking the radio has gone bad in this phone, like it did in both of our previous GNex phones, it just took this one 6 months to die. Now i have to deal with Verizon Wireless to get a replacement. They are wanting to make sure i'm on the most current build, baseband etc. Here are my questions.
1 - What is the most current stock ROM, radio, build etc. that i an put back on my phone to both a)make sure that a rooted app/baseband etc. is not all of a sudden causing this issue and b) i can talk to VZW and they won't know i've rooted the phone.
2 - Once i return the phone to a stock ROM, i assume that I will have to do an OTA to satisfy the VZW tech. If the phone does not need to be replaced, i.e. the OTA fixes it, will i still be able to root back to an AOKP ROM?
3 - Is there some other update i should try before going the "unrooted" route and trying to talk with Verizon?
Thanks for your help.
Chris

Here are the VZW radios for the Gnex. Personally I would try flashing the new one [4.1.1 (JRO03O)] with a JB ROM. I was on AOKP for pretty much the entire life of my Gnex, 8 months, and never tried CM10. Flashed CM and besides the Nav bar, which I like better in AOKP, I have seen substantial improvements in performance, stability, and even better battery life. If you are determined to stay with AOKP I would still update to the JB version and try those "new" radios.
I started having the same problem a couple days ago when flashing a ROM went bad so I had to restore to an old (4+ mo. old) backup. From there I flashed factoryrom jb and then flashed the new radios today Cuz I just noticed the lack of signal. Still no bars anywhere. Any other thoughts? Do you think flashing a CM would fix it? If so, why?

What is selected in settings-more-mobile network-network mode?
data enabled is checked, and network mode is LTE/CDMA
I was gonna try to find a fix today and if i can't find one, flash to complete stock, reroot/mod etc.

Well, your settings are good to go. Did you check the md5 sum of the radio file after you downloaded it? If you have root explorer hold down on the .zip file and choose properties to check the sum and make sure it matches.
hahaha i guess that's what I get for trying to download a radio on crappy mall WiFi... the MD5 was bad :-/ works good now! thanks!

Hmm, it did this "need to restart SIM to work properly" crap, restarted and stopped working. Any thoughts? I'm installing franco kernel to see if that helps
Welp I ended up just flashing the factory image hahaha, will reinstall ROM and see how it goes. Everything seems to be working fine right now though
Glad it was something simple like that to get you back up and running.:good::highfive:

I d/l the 4.1.1 radio and flashed it in clockwork, and though the flash said it completed successfully, i don't see a way to check the radio version. I don't see 4.1.1 JR03O listed anywhere in the About Phone information...Where should i be looking?
Further, my prboblem seems to have further degaded ...With the 4g radio on, i get random total shut down of the phone, as opposed to simple radio crashes. Just goes to off with black screen. I'm up to try anything. I assume i can easily locate one of these JB ROM's in the dev section?

The baseband i think. Mine is I515.09 V.FF02 / I515.FG02.
I'm not all that knowledgable about the radios I just know my reception/data was poor on JB ROM with ICS radios. When I flashed the JB radio, my issues were fixed. I believe the ROM and radio versions should match, so if you flash JB radio I would flash JB ROM. All the info should be in the thread that is linked.

I am such an idiot, this whole time you've been talking about JB ROMs i assumed you meant some particular brand of ROM, like AOKP or Myn etc... It didn't dawn on me until i saw JB next to ICS that you meant Jelly Bean ROM.
Ok i'm running an AOKP Jelly Bean ROM with Android 4.1.2
baseband is the same as yours
Build is aokp_toro-userdebug 4.1.2 JZo54K
The radio problem seems to be resolved. Thanks for the point in the right direction!
oops, accidentally wiped my sd card when i was restoring back to factory... TOTAL back to factory hahaha.... which isn't so bad i guess... after a year it's about time I guess
I seem to lose signal when leaving wifi though, have to either airplane mode or reboot. Because I had my phone so long, I don't know if there was connection or dust issues, so I did the classic NES/SNES/Sega Gen trick, took the sim card out, blew in there and all that. Seems to still be going ok.
Fyi.. i a simple restart doesnt disconnect u from the towers.. u need to turn off, pull battery, pull sim, and wait for 10 20 sec. That will disconnect u fully..
