You can only flash stock kernels with locked bootloaders.
To flash a custom kernel, you need to unlock the bootloader first.
Skipping the bootloader and flashing a custom kernel is not possible in Arc,atleast not yet

What i mean is if there is a .tft or .ftf for the new beta of ICS cause i dont want to unlock my bootloader. The very reason i have a custom rom is i created multiple method just to have one. For example my Xperia Play as of this moment is running the T.E.A.M Rom w/ default ericson kernel. How did i do that? I used a kernel w/ Superuser and Clockwork then flashed again replacing just the kernel and i was able to use a Rom. Anyway i relly on flashtool to get more w/o unlocking my bootloader, but is there a flashtool process to get the ICS beta working?

u must have unlocked bootloader to use that ics beta..
I guess this means that the flashtool serves no purpose for the xplay beta, better wait for the official w/c doesnt require unlock bootloader.
Btw the other free method w/c uses a pin, i was able to successfully do that. But the dos for fastboot wont continue, that made methink that unlock bootload for me is unsuccess though the tool said mine is unlocked.

why not u unlock bootloader?? u can relock back using flashtool..
Sorry im not really that techy but ill read that relock, cause what i know is that relocking bootloader has its rules and limit, would it be possible to relock after flashing to ICS Beta. ICS w/ safe locked bootloader.

relock bootloder is so easy.. what u need is .ftf file and flash it using flashtool
you cant relock it when using custom rom.. it may brick your device
my suggestion is unlock your bootloader to flash ICS beta and when ICS officially release by sony.. u can relock it back but u must flash the stock rom first to receive that update
It thats really,if my play relock back,im can get the realease update, from sony With the pc companion? Because I just unlock my BL,

+1 on that, make sure it says for locked bootloaders otherwise, you'll be up **** creek w/o a paddle lol. Look into getting your bootloader unlocked sometime, it's well worth the $24
Might be too late but make sure the ROMs are for CDMA and not GSM if you're on the R800x. Some have CDMA patches you need to flash.

I want to discuss, Which is void Xperia warranty , Only Root, unlock bootloader, or flashing unofficial ?
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium
Unlocking your bootloader is what voids your warranty. Rooting is fine.
And technically, to flash most custom ROMs, you would need to unlock your bootloader except a few stock based ROMs.
Thanks for own info

Example I was flashed offline via flashtool, Might be void warranty ?
Sent from my LT15i using xda premium

You have to unlock your bootloader because that ROM requires you to flash a custom kernel.
The thread explicitly states you need an unlocked bootloader, yet you still have to ask?

Eh, maybe a bit harsh. In OP's defense, most of the talk around here about bootloader unlocking is concerning ICS ROMs. Probably just wanted to make sure since that ROM is based on stock.
Actually the rom might work witn unlocked boot loader, check out the 54 page

Use stock kernel and you'd be fine.
Does that mean if I am running stock Verizon I will be fine?

Correct. Correction you should stick with Verizon's 2.3.3 rom and you will be fine.

Use CWM to flash ROMs. Use Fastboot to flash kernels.
So that's a yes?

But that requires you to flash a custom kernel, which I can't because I don't an unlocked bootloader.

Yea I realized that afterwards that's why I edited my post. And yes it will work. But if you wanted the .145 you could just use the darforest ver.

Just a quick confirmation, I can flash this in CWM? As you can see, Im a huge noob

Yes...be sure you do a backup first. Since you stated you are on 2.3.3 you'll be OK.
