Hi,
I currently have the euro charger with us adapter and its annoying how janky the thing is.
What are you fellow us owners using for wall chargers?
I'm thinking the Samsung galaxy note charger might be good. Its under rated at 5v .7A so it should work right just charge slower ...
Thanks

Just in case you're really cheap like me, an easy way to get the charger and adapter to "stick" together is to take some small strips of paper, fold them over and over again until they're about as wide and thick as a popsicle stick, and stick one in each side of the adapter socket. Then cram the charger into the adapter, and it'll fit like a glove. Before I did that, my charger would fall out of the adapter at least three times a day. If you'd like some pictures to see what I'm talking about, just let me know.

Anyone know of a decent ac charger that works with the nexus? I have like 5 micro usb chargers from various old phones, but only one or two work with the nexus.

I use the one that came with my Nexus One. It's 5W charger, like the Samsung wall wart, but has a cable that's a foot or so longer. I keep the Samsung at the girlfriend's. At work I use a 5V/.85a motorola that I found lying around.
Any brand name charger will work fine. Off brands...well...you get what you pay for sometimes.
Idk if itll help, but I have an HP Touchpad in the house, and the "barrel" like wall adapter and a random micro-USB charge with "AC" power as shown by the nexus.
tl;dr buy an HP touchpad charger on the cheap.

i am currently using this one instead original charger,it works fine. works great on my samsung android phones and iphone4 , except ipad2.the package with a free usb cable that for samsung galaxy tab . so you need a normal android usb cable, charger really small and great lookinghttp://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150731518...18326&_sacat=See-All-Categories&_fvi=1&_rdc=1
I need a longer charging cord. The factory cords they send with these tabs are wayyyyy too short. 5 feet or so would be perfect. Any recommendations?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using xda premium
Longer cables can be found on amazon and ebay. Here is a link to one example.
http://www.amazon.com/KHOMO-Super-C...2J2M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1326674364&sr=8-1
I guess I should rephrase. What longer cables have you all used that will charge the tab while using it. Most of the extended USB cables have terrible reviews because they can't supply enough juice. I see the cellet cable has good reviews but no numbers tossed around as to what its output is.

I use a regular, generic (female / male) USB extender cable, connected to the stock Samsung one. Works perfectly.

Ditto, mines only a foot or two longer and it is more than enough distance for me.
Why do you need the extra long cable?

I ordered the International Version of the SGN2 and it'll be here on Tuesday but I have an important question to ask. I watched several unboxings on YouTube and I could help but notice all of them came with the UK prongs for the AC adapter.
My question is how are the north american users charging their new Galaxy Note 2's?
Did you guys buy an adapter? Use a different charger? (If so would the nexus 7's charger work?)
Please advise...

You should be OK with almost any USB 5V charger rated at 1A or more, but a 2A charger, like the Nexus 7's, would be the quickest.

AFAIK, the charging voltage on the Note II is the same 5V as all other phones, thus any USB charger should work. The only difference is in the current rating. A (tablet) charger rated for up to 2A will charge it faster, while others will be slower. Heck, you could use a 0.5A BT headset charger too! It will just take over 24 hours to fully charge the beast.
The current rating is the amount of current the device can supply safely. Its like a tap, the bigger the spout, the faster the water flow.

Actually my s2 charger (5v 0.7a) charges my note2 from 7% to 100% in 5 hours.
I'm considering keeping that charger for daily use as my note2 only charges during the night anyways while im sleeping and I think its more gentle on the battery to slow charge it. And I'll keep the 2A charger for emergencies.

I have Anker Astro.
Feelin like a boss, have an extended battery cover... I don't like the idea of prying apart my GalNex though...
Could I wire the inductive coil to the battery directly? Like stuck them between the battery and phone contact pins? Not a good, sturdy solution, but I just don't like the idea of phone disassembly...
I also thought of making an inductive case that connects to the Pogo pins externally....
thoughts?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I think some people have done the inductive case before; it shouldn't be too difficult. That said, I don't think attaching it to the battery is a good idea.
For what its worth, the disassembly for this mod was not hard. Just take it slow -- you don't actually have to start undoing ribbon cables and the like for this one, you can do all the parts with copper tape (until you solder the tape to the coil, but that doesn't touch your phone.)
Curious about this. Let us know what you do.
Keep me updated, sounds awesomenessesseesssss

You could but you shouldn't. That would bypass the battery charging protection circuit.

I have an (expensive :/) Incipio two-layer case... Thinking maybe I could put the coil and magnets in between the silicone inner layer and hard shell outer layer...
I'm open to suggestions, I'm a little uncertain about getting the wires to line up with the pogo pins...
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I just don't like the idea of taking my phone partially apart... This is a guy who takes just about everything else apart, but I feel like phones are particularly fragile, you say be careful, I say I can't upgrade if this one bites the dust.
In the end though, I don't *need* inductive charging.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
I started a mod like this on an iPhone 4 that would no longer charge. I was going to have to wire directly to the battery and that was a concern. If I had another good coil and charger, I would certainly give it a go. I've taken many phones apart and never have issues. Were you using the coil from a Palm device?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
I haven't actually done anything with it, but I have the Palm Touchstone setup, coil and all.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
That's what I was figuring. The mod I did was using one of those external battery power pack deals that worked with the energizer pads. I had to rip it apart for the coil but could still use as an external battery charger through the USB ports. I just don't have the pad to test my work. Ugh.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Oh that's a good idea, get an external battery case... Generally that's an iPhone-only ordeal.
Is it for Touchstone or Qi? Apparently the two are incompatible.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
Well, the case would have been the easier solution but it would no longer charge through the port so a hard mod straight to the battery was necessary. What I used was just a rechargeable external battery with wireless charging that had a micro USB cable to plug into phones and also a micro USB port to recharge while away from the power pad. I didn't have the pad so the coil wasn't important to me. I just hardwired straight to the battery but don't have a pad to make sure it's working. I just reassembled the battery and can still use it as I always have with cables. I only bought it for emergencies for times away from outlets. It was an energizer battery pack.

I'm going to miss using my pogo dock for my gnex, but wireless charging sounds cool. Are there any good dock recommendations out there? I use my phone as a clock so something where it's also a "stand" is what I'm talking about. Please post up any links!
I have a nexus 4 orb charger that I actually bought for my nexus 7. It's pretty awesome but a bit expensive. It's angled so you can see the screen but grips my tablet really well.
https://play.google.com/store/devic...ess_Charger?id=nexus_4_wireless_charger&hl=en
There's also a cheap knock-off version that I bought (it doesn't say nexus on it) to keep at work.
http://dx-box.com/nexus-wireless-charger-adapter-pad-for-lg-google-nexus-4-e960.html
It doesn't have that magnet-like hold on my N7 that the real one has but it might be OK for a phone.
But I would wait for this one...
http://www.engadget.com/2013/10/31/google-wireless-charging-pad/
I wonder what the charging time of the new pad will be? Kinda like the look and idea but 4hr charge? Ha. I heard Sony is making one (or working on one) that sits the time in half but it probably won't be out till 2015
not the wireless dock, but if you guys remember samsung desk dock for infuse 4G, nexus 4 was kinda loose on that dock. Since the N5 is a bit wider, i hope it will fit on it perfectly!!!
Fingers crossed :good::good::good: :fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:

I like the orb thing, but I actually might just buy that nexus brand pad and maybe build some kind of dock for it.

This won't prop the phone up, but you could probably find a way.
I've been using it for about 2 months, works great, makes a quiet noise when connecting, works will all my cases.

It's not much bigger than a Galaxy Note. Funny, I actually used it to stretch out a leather pouch for my gNote.
FWIW I just bought the Nokia QI charger (DT-900) from AT&Ts website - $24.50 w/free shipping.
I read a review that went over the Nexus (old version), LG and Nokia one and chose the Nokia one as the winner... so... yeah.

Ha ha! I am in the exact same boat as you! I've been using the Infuse dock for my Gnex and am cautiously optimistic for the "fit" with my freshly-ordered N5! I don't mind it being a little loose ... Just hope it's not too snug.
(Wait... Did I really say that ^ ?)

Let us know if that works!!
I've been think more about the wireless charging dock and I don't see a practical way it will work. From my research, people say their phones barely charge, and sometime discharge when day dreaming on a wireless charging pad. So for me, not being able to use the dock for day dreaming a clock defeats the whole purpose of having a dock. Wish it just had pogo pins
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I use the orb for my n4 and the Nokia dt-910 for my n7. my n7 daydreams as my bedside click and it charges just fine. the 910 is a bit nicer than the orb imo, but the n4 had issues with it so hopefully the n5 is OK. it works perfectly with my n7, and I'd recommend either
I bought a Kidigi universal dock only to discover that the micro USB socket on the phone is oriented differently than most phones. It's back to front!
