This gs2 has the loose volume rocker like my old vibrant....but my 1st vibrant rocker was stuff and no noise...any tips to stiffen it so I don't hear a slight rattle handling phone?

hi i was wondering if there was any way to flip the control of the volume buttons
example:
when the phone is in portrait the top button is volume up
when in landscape the left button is volume up
is there any way to flip it so the right button is volume up when in landscape mode?
+1

My Samsung galaxy spica auto rotated the controls when phone rotated why not this phone?

Hey guys, just upgraded from a Atrix 4g and loving the phone.
I've been looking for to wake my phone by using the volume rockers. I got the new otterbox commuter and it's much harder to press the power button,a bit easier to press rockers. I found a few threads talking about it but nothing that works.
I edited a few files in the /system/usr/keylayout folder to allow WAKE on the volume keys followed by a restart but nothing works.
Any ideas on how to do this on a stock s3 at&t?

Are there any apps/mods that allow you to silence/mute an incoming notification tone like on the iphone?
For example you are in a meeting and get a text which sets off your text tone instead of reaching into your pocket, removing phone, unlocking it, and stopping tone you just reach in and hit the power button or volume rocker and stop the tone.
Didn't realize how much I did this on my old phone until I couldn't do it on my N2!

If you turn your volume all the way down it goes into vibrate

An instant mute....like on the iphone...that doesnt affect volume settings

Why not just put on vibrate when in meeting?
It is in the toggles very easy to access

Because I don't want to have to keep toggling my phone settings on and off all day long when all I have to do is just reach in my pocket for brief second and shut it off at that particular moment.

It takes more than a "brief second" to reach in your pocket, look for the toggle switch on the iPhone and move it... And even then, you may have not toggled the switch in the right direction, thus leaving the ringer on by accident. Trust me, I've done this with all the iPhones I've had. It doesn't matter if the back side has a bulge or is aluminum to help you orient your hand coordination. Your mind would be too focused on not getting unwanted attention while you silence your phone.
The trick for the Note II (at least for stock rom) is hold the power button two seconds, then hold the down volume rocker down until it vibrates, which only takes another second. And viola, it's on vibrate mode.
Im pretty sure if you hit the volume rocker while a call is incoming it will silence.
Correct me if im wrong

You're correct, but I think he wants to toggle it to go on vibrate so if the person happens to try calling a second time, it doesn't ring again.
When i try to press the volume buttons they take a lot of force to activate. Any fixed? Is it the buttons or the plastic? Can the buttons be replaced?

Yes the buttons can be easily replaced. It is possible that dirt has built up inside it or that the plastic has deformed. If you can still press the buttons then i doubt it is the entire flex cable.... Search on ebay for the plastic volume rocker and an online guide will show you how to!
