subfolder and placing icons programs - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hello, recently I've gone from ios to Android, and I was looking for a couple of apps, essential for me, that should work on the page of apps.
I state that I do not know if they exist, given that I've looked everywhere without success.
Ios are the corresponding :

Thank you all for your help, for my bad English, is the fault of google.

i asked this question last week about folders within the app drawer. problem was i updated rooted modded my gs2 and as the updates got better and more functions unfortunately the create a folder option disappeared within the app drawer and it doesnt look like it will be implemented in ics either. if it something that important to you i suggest going back to gb 2.3.3. or find a launcher that has the option to create the subfolder i the app drawer i havrnt been able to find a launcher to do it so stuck with adw ex.
hope someone can help you be intresting to read if they can

I'd like to find a launcher that gives the possibility to create subfolders, to date I have not found, and I must say that I have tried several of the launcher.
If by chance know the name of a launcher that can do this, let me look that I run to try it.

you can try Folder Organizer ... you can create subfolders

Go launcher ex let's you create folders in the app list.

Thank you all, I tried folder organizer but is not for me, go for the former launcher allows you to make some folders but not subfolders.
Calmly is all (and here it is the calm served a lot because it seems that no one uses or affect the subfolders), the launcher is called tag home launcher, not only gives you the ability to manage apps on the page of a kind of subfolders, but I'll be available in the main form, that, to be placed where they are the widgets (which technically does not know his name).
I hope I can serve others, and if you found other similar apps because if I communicated to me very interested.
Thanks to all

The folders i mean is shown there under games utilities etc. Really need to find an app that can help me
I use folder organizer for this, accepts custom icons'n all..
Only cons. Can't lock folders within, you'll need a 2nd for that.
But don't think there's any folder org* which does this (able to lock folders )
Left Bottom:
Games folder, includes 16 games.
From Top Right:
Tools folder: 12apps
Info folder: 4apps
Market Folder Includes diffr. markets..
With no txt labels:
^^it's my current, No ugly folders If you ask me that is, and all apps i folder is not to find in appdrawer.. (LauncherPro ability)
But main answer, there's plenty of free folder org. in market, free-ones as well, mine is the paid Folder organizer as said, but free ver. got almost same functionality
Ok ive dow.loaded Folder Organizer but I dont have a clue what im doing, how do I just create a folder then when I click on it it opens the box with apps in! Thanks

Go launcher makes folder icons that look exactly like the iPhone. All you do is drag and drop one icon into the other.
Sent from my Captivate.
Open folder org. And organize all inside. Long press move to desired folder, make new if you want. To the right you see a dropdown menu, like on left side. Right side lets you add new icon, sort, unistall and so on.
To add to homescreen, add shortcut/folder org folder/choose folder. Done

Or just make the folder u want, name it what you want, and open the app folder, from there move the desired aps to desired folder, all apps is listed there with folder name, press left dropdown and check another box. Simple as that. This is under labels btw, same goes for above.
Hope it made you sense.

Default Home Screen

Can anyone tell me where to set a default home screen. I'd like to bundle one in a theme. I've tried flashing com.android.launcher from data/data, but that didn't work. I've read you can set default Widgets (not including background) in defaultworkspace.xml inside launcher.apk but I figured there has to be a file that isn't permanent. Something has to store your settings in data/data or somewhere. Could be wrong though. Any help would be appreciated.
If I remember correctly it is is \system\customize\MNS\default.xml
Should start at the line with <function name="1_shortcuts">
I have never tried it but worth a shot
Lockscreen.Java is the place where you set the default home screen. Your going to be working with smalli the code to change it though.
Since you are doing a theme I don't think this is what you were looking for.

Thanks nils and Linux. I'll give them a look. There has to be a file that stores your homescreen setup somewhere for reboots. This would be the easiest because I could set my homescreen to something basic and just include that file in the theme. But I've searched data/data and haven't found it. Maybe its somewhere else or non existent I can handle XML decent so ill try nils suggestion this weekend. Last time I battled with smali it took nearly a month and a stroke of good luck to win.
The Database is stored at /data/data/com.android.launcher/databases under the name of launcher.db. The nice thing is aosp source has a script to take out the database from the phone or at least view it

I was able to change default Widgets in default_workspace.xml [launcher2.apk]. But i had to clear laumcher data for changes to take effect. I believe the customize/mns directory is responsible for background after looking through XML, but I haven't tested yet. I had problems pushing launcher.db and applying with zip. Databases must not work this way? I actually tried overwriting the entire com.android.launcher directory. I haven't looked at the smali you mentioned Linux. But I'd like to avoid smali until I've exhausted all other options. So I believe the solution I'm going to attempt is: set up default workspace, write script to clear launcher data, and set up customize/mns for appropriate wallpaper. All just to force people to appreciate my theme. If I'm successful ill let you know
Edit: if you know where I'm going wrong applying database please let me know. I still feel like this would be best route. But after applying launcher.preferences and launcher.db nothing changed...which I don't understand
Here are the file that control the workspace
// This sets what is on the workspaces
res/xml/default_workspace.xml
// These two set the number of workspaces
res/layout-port/launcher.xml
res/layout-land/launcher.xml
// This also set the number of screens
src/com/android/launcher2/Launcher.java
Here is a source view a screen changer(https://github.com/OMFGB/packages_apps_Launcher2/commit/239960ef3f959a41dc31d20c6dea3d8e16ff0639)
Anytime the number of screens changes the database needs to be cleared. If not the workscapces that cannot be seen are actually still there, which leads to a memory leak. One that doesn't grow but its still leaked.
So your thought seems correct.
Set the default workspace in xml and smali(Its just one value).
Set the default background.
Clear the database.
restart the launcher(So the new settings take effect from xml and smali)
The theme should be applied to now.(Hopefully)
This will be good to know because I want to edit the widgets and apps that are on my home screen from the Launcher default workspace settings.

[Concept] Application Lists

With everyone trying to copy folders from iOS and Android i kind of got bored of it. Either way folders on WP7 will never work cause they don't match the design language.
Making application lists would save clutter and would act as storage folders to store certain app you want to hide out of the full application list.
My concept isn't new. Just different approach to categorising your apps. Which lets face it is pretty brutal in WP7. Jump lists are sort of a pain in the a$$ as well.
By clicking on a thread header (just like in the email threads) you will pop out the application list that you added to that thread.
If you pressed and held onto an app. Instead of the option pin the app and uninstal it to the start screen another option would pop up for making a new application list, as well as extra option to add the app to an existing list or remove it from the list if it is already in it.
Once you click on make a new list, you would be asked to name it.
After making a folder you can click on an app you want to add. Select add to a folder and a pop up would come up which folder do you want to add it to.
I think the start screen takes good care of making sure most apps you need are on it. This would ensure that the must need applications for you that you don't want to pin to the start screen are always there without a long list to scroll through.
Now to find some one to make it?
It's not a bad start (although I completely disagree with the idea that folders "don't match the design language", but that's a topic for a different discussion).
Your idea is a good one, but what I would rather see is a design where "opening" the folder/list would not expand it in place (that would just add more clutter IMO), but open a new pane to the right of the full app list that focuses on just the apps in the custom folder/list. Then, to get back to the full list you only need to swipe back to it, even if your custom folder/list more than fills the screen.
Maybe a people hub like group function can be implement to the app list too?
That could work too. It might not be as seamless as the people hub groups, but it could still be a possibility.
honestly I love the app list and the alphabetical jumplist. Finding apps is no problem. However they could implement "groups" for apps the way they do people. With the app live tile cycling through the app group main tile. So If I have "news" group with USA Today, Fuse, Fox news etc the Group live tile should show me the weather, latest national and tech news.
How I would change the app list is universal search. When you hit the search icon and enter some text say "microosft" it should present several pivots "apps" "emails" "documents" and "web" filtering out the search results in a metro manner. Infact if they could hardwire the bing key to do that I'd be happy.
Well its an idea I dont think a hub for apps would work cause it would mean you have to go into and out of the hub. Where as with a "group" "list" "thread" or a "folder" you can quickly open them and close them

[Q]: Add Widgets to Sense Tray (Rosie)

Hi,
Puzzled with how and if one can add a widget to this bottom "tray" (is it called Rosie?)
So far, I understand that we have an opportunity to add an app or a shortcut to this tray. No widgets, however.
None of the widgets that I have installed would fit the empty space on the tray. Sense just doesn't allow me to draw a widget and leaves it on Home Screen.
I will explain why I need this opportunity.
There's a nice email proggy, Aquamail (please don't consider this post to be an ad whatsoever), whose widget (with the overlay showing the number of unread items) I would like to have in the tray and on the lock screen, as a result.
But the author says HTC doesn't offer any API for Sense, and it's just not possible to implement.
Please enlighten me about whether this is possible and whether you know any software that is able to place its widgets in this tray.
PS: Although the default "Mail" and "Messages" widgets placed in the tray (see the screenshot below) are actually no widgets but "apps", they still show unread items in the overlay, but it seems only HTC know how the heck to enable such apps to do this.

Thanks!
PPS: You can add a shorctut too, but a shortcut seems to be impossible to show anything in an overlay (the overlay below is just part of TC's icon, so don't get confused)
You want to add widgets to dock? Try Apex Launcher. It allows users to add 1x1 widgets in the dock. Apex Pro also has the option whereby you can choose apps like phone and mail apps(either stock or any other similar app from play store),place their icons on screen or dock and get number of unattended(unread mails, missed calls) displayed in icon's top right corner.
But placing widgets in dock in apex launcher will not display them in lockscreen. If you really want that, try any of lockscreen replacement apps like widget locker. Widget locker allows you to customize lockscreen, place widgets,icons...try it yourself
Thanks, I am of course aware of the multitude of third-party apps, but the reason to start this thread was to find out whether we do have this opportunity with the stock launcher and locker or we don't.
Guys!
Any chance to have some info from those who know for sure whether it's possible or not?
I saw this tweet from HTC today and thought that maybe there was finally a chance?

ZLauncher from Nokia

The rapprochement between Nokia and Android looked very interesting since it came to light the first leaks of the Nokia X, although the movement seemed a bit odd especially since it had been bought by Microsoft and it is normal that the industry should focus on Windows Phone. However, Microsoft bought what was the business of the devices and services, and given the size of Nokia, several departments were left out. One is that for years has developed software and other functions for your device and now released its first App for android: Z Launcher.
As you can guess by its name, Z Launcher is a launcher for the new Google system that performs the same task as other known (as Apex, Nova, Go and others), can radically change the phone interface. We are used to see dozens of customization options in each launcher, but Z Launcher is the opposite: simple, clean and, say, different.

What you see in the pictures is all that is shown. At the top we display the time, date and the next event in our agendas, and can click on each item to enter its corresponding App. At the bottom there are five direct hits to choose from, as in most launchers, but where it really is different Z hits Launcher is occupying most of the screen.
Z Launcher learns and shows you what you need at all times
This list of 6 items is not fixed, but that varies during the day according to the Apps more we open, the more contacts you call or visit us more. Z learns Launcher as your use and therefore will adapt to how you use the phone to show some suggestions or other at the right time. Know what the Apps you use at work are not the same as Saturday night, nor you need when you are having breakfast.
http://vimeo.com/98567567
Okay, so you wonder, where are the other apps I have installed are? As there is no use application drawer, Z Launcher has a feature called "Scribble" which allows access to any application by typing the first letter of his name anywhere on the screen. For example, if you go to Facebook, simply make a finger F and a list of apps, contacts and websites that correspond with that letter appears.
If you have many apps whose names begin with F, Z Launcher applies the same system always gives preference to those that use the most. It works exactly like if instead of opening an app, you need to call someone or do an internet search.
Definitely a different system, but given the amount of existing launchers on Google Play is also necessary to differentiate a little. Currently Z Launcher is Pre Beta phase, so it may have some flaws and can only be downloaded from their website, you'll see how these developers will create Nokia Apps for Android, but it's a good start. Have you tried it? What do you think?.
