clockworkmod recovery... it's a custom recovery that allows you to have more control on what you do with your phone
MODEM is the radio your phone works on. meaning the firmware of the radio can be changed to optimized for your location to get certain band frequencies.

Rio said that it's an optional thing to flash XXLM6 first, then flash his package.
That's why the baseband will become XXLM6.
What I see is that you jumped from your non XXLM6 ROM to Rio's
Actually, it's fine.

I thought when he said that his rom has "Hybrid Base band XXLM6 with Value Pack", it will automatically be XXLM6, why is it not?
Is there a way for me to resolve this thing? I really want to have my phone display baseband version = XXLM6.
And anyways, what have I missed because I didn't flash this XXLM6 first? What does it do anyway?

But if you want to , you can always flash XXLM6 then flash Rio's Hybrid...

I think you must first flash STOCK XXLM6 in order to have radio firmware (baseband) XXLM6 (but there is already a newer version XXLM8!)
Then, you can flash Rio's Rom.
What did you missed?
I'm not sure but i think Radio firmware has to do with signal of your phone etc. so an update to this can make your phone find appropriate comm. frequencies faster and thus, spending less energy or even have better reception...
Thanks sir, I always here from people that baseband is based on region, I don't seem to quite understand. Does that mean I just cant choose I8150XXLM8 right away?
Can I flash XXLM8 Serbia, I'm from Philippines by the way

Or you need to upgrade or downgrade the modem. Once I updated the baseband together with the modem, HDSPA also stopped working in CM9, so I had to revert back to the Baseband and Modem I used before and then I just updated the baseband without the modem.
There is a special thread about bug report in general section. Search the threat and you should find something about it.

So he has to travel into your country and go into your provider office to get HSDPA working? Ok, just kidding.
Well it depends on the operator and the modem file he has installed. I doubt his operator will change anything to make HSDPA working just for him while it´s working for all the other customers in this network. So he will have to down- or upgrade the modem itself to get it working again.
I also had this happen and lost HSDPA after upgrading the baseband together with the modem. Just 3G worked. No matter where I was. The solution was to downgrade the modem and to just upgrade the baseband. The same for many other users in our german forum who had this issue with specific operators. They all got it fixed by either upgrading or downgrading the modem because the operators will not change anything unless all their customers are involved.
it's true
Hi guys, got some problem here, Could someone be kindly to help solve this:
Hsdpa seem not quite working, i guess is a bug. Here the detail:
A) Galaxy Wonder (Indonesia)
a.1) gingger bread 2.3.6
a.2) DXLM3 baseband
a.3) HSDPA works like a charm - tottaly smooth
Then i flash to CM9 beta 1 with the following steps:
B) Download Odin+ancora.ops
C) Download latest CWM
c.1) Install CWM via Odin = Success
D) Download CM9 beta 1 + Gapps.zip
E) Install CM9 beta 1 via CWM
e.1) Recovery mode CWM
e.1.1) Wipe cache
e.1.2) Wipe dalvik Cache
e.1.3) Install CM9 beta 1
e.1.4) Install Gapps.zip
e.1.5) Reboot = Success
F) Download DXLMB Baseband by THE-E
f.1) Install DXLMB via Odin = Success
G) Download JB-Adreno.lib
g.1) Install JB - Adreno.lib via CWM, Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik/Reboot = Success
H) Download AE-CM 4.3 Script
h.1) Install AE-CM 4.3 via CWM, Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik/Wipe Battere stat/Fix Permission = Success
I) Download forfolivo Kernel V3.2ghz.Stock
I.1) Install V3 kernel via CWM, Wipe Cache/Wipe Dalvik/Wipe battere/Fix Permission =Success
After doin' all things step Above, i think my CM9 already quite fine. Now been runing 5 batere cycle = 5day. But even with those above i still can't get hsdp conection. I already contact my provider and tell the issue they did do a full check and the result = nothing wrong with the network the problem is on your device!? Now after i hear those words i'm certain it's a problem from the ROM or setting which is haven't be applied. Any suggestion guys?

This Baseband does include the newer modem. Alfter flashing it HSDPA stopped working for me on CM9. To get it working again I had to flash a frimware with XXKL3 Baseband. Then I extracted just the DXLMB baseband from an other firmware and flashed it via Odin. This way I made sure the older modem that came with the XXKL3 Baseband in the other firmware was not overwritten by flashing THE-Es baseband.
After this HSDPA worked again.
But it´s not necessary to update the baseband. If an older baseband is working well for you, you can keep it as is. It´s just the modem that comes with the DXLMB baseband and is also included in THE-Es file is making some trouble in some provider networks where HSDPA stops working by using it.
It´s also possible the newer modem is not fully compatible with ICS/CM9 or like said somehow buggy and just working well while using a GB firmware. Can´t confirm this as I had the XXKL3 baseband installed first and flashed the DXLMB baseband after flashing and using CM9 for a while.
So all I can tell is why HSDPA stopped working for me in CM9. ( by flashing the above mentioned Baseband+Modem)
And how I fixed it.

If your baseband is of the DX family, I suggest you try DXKL1. Yes, it's old, but I *never* have any problem locking onto HSDPA with it.

How to root N7105

Hi,
I have the N7105 (LTE model) and everything I see here in the forum: roms, root kits, etc, is everything for N7100.
Can anyone help me or point me on how to root N7105. Can I use the same TOOLKIT V1.0 to root it?? Does the CWM will work?
Thanks!
bump! asking the same!
Somebody have reported it works (CF auto root)

Hi did u use CF-Auto-Root v1.0 to do that? or other? Can u tell me the link here on XDA for what u used to root ur N7150 and put new CWM?
I think thw official world wide selling of N7105 is posted to 18th of October. That's why there isnt any offical ROM out there for this model and also because there isnt any custom rom's yet too. Developers are waiting for the english official version. The others floating around are not yet in english.
Thanks for ur answer

I was not able to locate my specific firmware on either site. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?
The closest I found was shv-e250s, which is the same model as mine except from a different carrier.
I've included a screen shot of the about my device page on my phone in case that helps at all.
Will installing a different region/model's ROM affect the phone negatively?
I might need to take my phone in for service or replacement because part of the touch screen is unresponsive at times while typing and Swyping.
So I need to make sure my stock ROM is installed and my counter is reset.
Thanks all for your assistance.

Wait!
These of you who think that N7105 rom will work for your SHV-E250s/l/k, you better not try it! I have done that already and lost EFS and imei! So you better don’t, i as well recommend you to make back up, or even 2-3 backups with different soft. + as soon as you make root, download root explorer, and copy entire root to your flash card + back up (It’s a must to have a copy of your EFS folder, if you are planning to flash and even if you don’t!)
The stock, and Multilanguage firmware is not out yet for these series of Phones
By the way here is comparison of all Note II: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=pdacomp...3801&id11=3803
And by the way: roms that are at http://www.sammobile.com are not official or factory roms, i took my SHV-E250S to Samsung and took roms downloaded from there, in Samsung they checked them out and said that they are not original roms. Probably made by recover from an existing device, or open source.

Thanks mate, but mine is rooted now, and has SU installed, the prob is that I have no IMEI and corrupt EFS folder with no data as should be inside, because i flashed with other rom, rom from N7105 instead of SHV-E250S. I as well have CWM. Still can’t figure out how to get my bandwidth back (((
When i flash with official rom, i`m still stay rooted only CWM rcovery mode changes. SU is still there, when go in download recovery mode, there:
odin mode
product name: SHV-E250S
Custom binary download: yes (38 counts)
Current Binary: Samsung Official
System Status: Custom
When device is on, on the screen always a window with devices data, (you can check out pic in one of my posts).
No IMEI, no EFS folder or back up of its content, no network. Wi-Fi works, no water welcome screen or turn of screen (when i press power button it just switches of and on)

I follow the root method for Tmob LTE by my friend, simplelife.
I haven't tried CFroot yet. Coz I only find this thread only after I do rooting by simplelife thread. I was desperately look for how to root N7105.
Perhaps later if any new firmware then I will try the CFroot, I believe it rocks.

Well I use dr.ketan's tutorial to root my N7105 and it works great:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1896696
My stock ROM is N7105ZHALJ4, download from sammobile and you should find your stock rom there. Otherwise, my point of view, you shouldn't root your device until you found your stock rom. Using other stock rom may result in lossing your EFS & IMEI, as well as your carrier details.

[Q] Play 3G Problem

Hi, I have a rooted xperia play R800i (unlocked bootloader and no simlocks) with stock rom 3.0.1.A.0.145 and 3G works fine (baseband 21-22). When I flash any other stock rom with higher baseband (tried 36, 56, 64), I lose 3G signal. I only get 2G connections. When I go into settings->Networks->Mobile Networks->Network Operators, I see only 2G operators. I have a Singtel connection (2100 mhz). On all firmwares I have tried, service menu says I have UMTS_1 UMTs_8.
The reason I want to go to new baseband (atleast 36) is to have custom roms and ICS on the phone. Giving up 3g is not really an option.
I have tried flashing old baseband after flashing custom roms (using flashtool, exclude system and kernel and then copying libs manually from old firmware for baseband) but I keep getting unknown baseband in settings->about phone. There is no voice or data signal if I do this.
Any suggestions to fix this problem will be very helpful.

Installed stock ICS with Lupus, installed new baseband (-87), but the same problem persists. Voice + 2G works fine, but 3G operators not detected. Any other basebands I can try please?

Have you tried just the baseband for .79? Its a world FTF.
Here is the link from my collection:
http://d-h.st/Mbi
I also have a baseband that I am using its .80 baseband, I have the FTF and the flashable files for it as well. I was getting edge where I live, in the mountains, after flashing .80 I went to HSPA+. Big difference in reception strength and stability for me.
Let us know how it goes.

Here is the link for the FTF of the 80 baseband and the flashable zip of the 80 libs.
FTF:

Flashable Libs:

Just in case you want to test it out.
Thanks, will try it out tonight. Will post an update on the results.
Thanks.
Hi,
Tried both basebands and still the same problem. Flashed whole 79 ftf and no 3G, tried baseband 80 with libs, still only 2G. 3G works fine as soon as I install the old ftf. A strange pattern I have noticed that I would like to share. The only firmwares that have worked for me are the ones starting with 3.x.x.x, anything with 4.x.x gives the same problem. Here are the firmwares I could find and I tried them out and they work fine.
Xperia PLAY_3.0.1.A.0.145_UK
Xperia_Play_2.3.3_UK_Generic
These basebands havent worked for 3G
R800a_2.3.4_North America Generic.ftf
R800i_4.0.1.A.0.283_(1247-6212).ftf
R800i_4.0.2.A.0.42_Generic_UK.ftf
R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_EnhancedV2.ftf
R800i_4.0.2.A.0.58_Generic Hong Kong Trade.ftf
R800i_4.0.2.A.0.62_(1253-4437).ftf
R800i_4.0.A.2.368_World.ftf
MT25i_4.1.B.0.631 INDONESIA_SONY MOBILE by wewenk.ftf
R800i_-80_Baseband_GSM.ftf
R800_4.0.2.A.0.79.ftf
Are there any 3.x.x firmwares available I haven't tried which have basebands which might work with ICS? That would solve my problem I am guessing.
Thanks.
See if there is dome ftf you didn't try at
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184897
And quick question, did you try to install doomlord's ics kernel and some stock-based ics rom on firware you have working 3g? (i mean, is it working if you DON'T flash newer firmware?)
And also, are apn settings same on working 3.x.x firmware and on any other rom you have only 2g (check them manualy, write on paper if you have to)

Yes have tried installing DoomKernel ICS with stock ICS over 3.0.1.A.0.145, I get no network detection and get an Unknown Baseband in about phone. Also tried copying ouver the 7 lib files from the working rom into this setup but same error.
APN settings are the same across firmwares.

Damn, you are really unlucky...
Even i am without ideas what you can do...
Maybe to try cm9 or cm10 roms...
Most desperate idea:
Do you have some friend who have newer rooted Xperia phone with ics or jb on it, and steal baseband libs from him

[Q] unable to turn on wifi, after installing pre rooted kitkat 4.4.2 on gt-n7100

Dear Admins and Members,
Hello to everyone, this is my very first post on xda-dev forums, but I am using the forums as guest since many years,
I have GT-N7100 Middle East Variant, most probably the international variant.
I have successfully installed the android 4.4.2 via philz recovery latest version without any problem, here is some info after installation.
Base-band version : N7100XXUFNB4
Kernel version : 3.0.31-764701
[email protected] # 1
Wed Feb 19 16:56:34 KST 2014
Build number
KOT49H.N7100XXUFNB4
THE ANDROID FILE NAME WHICH I USED FOR THIS INSTALLATION :
N7100XXUFNB4_pre-rooted_deodex_(Leak).zip
Now after the installation, every thing is working great, the phone performance is great smooth, the ram usage is fine, the cpu usage is fine,
battery consumption is great, only the problem is I cannot TURN ON WIFI , yes the wifi is not working,
I have checked that my data internet is working, and i can theter/share my internet via bluetooth, but i cannot share wifi hotspot, as it shows error..
I have tried to re install the phone 2-3 times, but still the errors are same.
I dont see any corrupt file system, i have check the os file is also fine, can any one help me ? how i can fix my wifi error ? Please suggest me the method without re installation, I have lot of big games on my phone and i dont want to do the re installation.
Regards
This has already been discussed on many occasions and there is a fix. You would know this if you would have bothered to use search before creating topic.

The one i bolded is your culprit. You need to flash MJ5 or ND3 bootloader to get your wifi working.Alternative is flash a custom kernel like Nadia or Agni for 4.4.2 and you'll have working wifi.I'll put links below for each of them.Good luck.
nd3 bootloader
mj5 bootloader
how to flash bootloader via odin
Nadia Kernel
Agni Kernel
So difference between MJ5 and ND3 bootloader is that MJ5 is knox free bootloader so warranty will not be void and you can downgrade back to 4.1.2 if needed but you wont be able to charge your phone by turning it off it wil power back on.ND3 bootloader is KNOXED so warranty will be void, knox will be 0x1(no way to reset it yet) but phone can be charged by turning it off. Also once you flash ND3 bootloader you can only go back as far as 4.3 ROM not 4.1.2.
If you don't decide to upgrade your bootloader and stick to your current one which is MB4 you won't be able to charge your phone.FLashing a custom kernel instead you'd be able to get wifi working again. Also if you flash ND3 bootloader you cannot downgrade your bootlader than means you cant go back to MJ5 or MB4 it will just fail in odin or worse brick your device since bootloaders are flashed onto the motherboard of our phones. So if you flash MJ5 first you can easily upgrade to ND3 later if you feel but not vice versa.Good luck
wifi problem
i'm also facing this problem, already tried the solution above but still grayed wifi/bt and wifi hotspot

Try flashing a custom kernel especially agni or nadia for 4.4.2 on your 4.4 ROM and see if that helps.Cause these two custom kernels have wifi drivers.I am not sure if custom kernel for 4.3 have the same.

It seems more like a hardware issue to me unless anyone else got any more ideas.Sorry
I will first go with the custom kernels. If this works i will reply here.
