Hi everyone.
I accidentally dropped my phone as I was getting out of my car (damn that new coat with all it's pockets!).
Now I noticed that at full volume, the speaker is really hard to understand, and at about 1/3 volume it becomes clearer- but the person becomes harder to hear in terms of loudness.
At full volume it's as though the person on the other side is talking with their lips on the mic and really loudly.
Does anyone know if it's possible to replace the speaker, or what could have caused this? I am familiar with taking the phone apart. I've done it a number of times, but I'm just wondering if it even makes sense to try at this point.

I dont think it requires anything really besides opening. I believe that when I swapped my spring the speaker is on the back side of the phone and the entire motherboard is seperate on front side.

you're correct. no soldering. it has two spring-bent type contacts and it looks like there is a metal bracket around the speaker that has 4 indentations to hold the speaker down over 4 small cavities in the speaker body.
should be easy.
and i found it for 2 bucks to boot!
Yea, replacing the speaker is very easy. First take off the back (4 screws) and then I think there is one more screw to get the speaker loose. But I don't remember exactly. Might be none.

So I just got back from a camping trip and I turned my phone on and the speaker sounds horrible. It sounds like it might be blown or have debris in it. My phone sat in my hot car all weekend so my two questions are
Did the heat mes up my speaker?
How can I clean debris out of the speaker?
I rarely use the speaker to listen to music so it seems pretty weird that it is blown. Any advice would be great!

the speaker has a mesh over it, its very unlikely they are debris on the driver. it is likely that the sealant used to hold the cone to the coil, or surround melted. theres no way to fix this short of replacing it. if it did indeed melt, things would sound muffled and muddy.

Hmm when people say its easy, you sometimes have to worry. It may be easy to you, but maybe he doesn't have the precision hand or nerves of steel it takes if you accidently poke a hole in something while your doing it. I have never taken my dinc apart, but if I did, I would be extremely careful. I followed an online tutorial on how to replace an ipod battery once and I mutilated that case. It never fit right after that... Just be careful, if you decide to do this and take your time, don't force stuff appart!
I had to replace the screen and digitiser on my TP2 after shutting it in the boot of a car (clever huh?). I accomplished the swap surprisingly easily after buying a pre-built screen and digitiser from Hong Kong for about £25. It even came with a spudger to help me take it apart I followed a few guides, including this iFixit one, which greatly helped.
Frustratingly though after putting it all back together and making a test call, the earpiece rattles during calls. Not a lot, but enough to make me want to fix it; applying gentle pressure to a certain top part of the bezel reduces the rattle a little bit but I've taken it apart three times and taped up various sections now to see if stops the problem. Unfortunately, no such luck.
Is the earpiece rattle something to do with inadequate insulation (or the ribbon cable running down the back of the screen)? Everything's sandwiched in pretty tight and I've reapplied electrical tape to what I think are the key areas. I've also padded the top area where the earpiece comes through the metal mesh and I've stuck the mesh down with doublesided tape so it can't move about. The problem persists though...
Everything else works fine, and the speaker also works perfectly with no vibrations or rattles (even though I also took that bit apart to inspect it) so I can't figure out why just the earpiece is rattling. Anybody taken their Touch Pro2 apart, had the same problem and solved it?
I have torn apart probably 3-4 TP2 screens and never had anything rattle. Did you lose a screw in there by chance? That is the only thing that would be small enough to rattle in there I think.
The only other thing I could thing that it might be is a bad connection to the vibrator motor. Maybe you have the little ribbon cable pinched or a bit off the socket it fits in.

So I noticed a creaking sound coming from my Note 2 when I flex it. I wasn't flexing it hard, just a gentle bend back and forth. So I took the back cover off to see if it was that, however the creaking sound was still there. I played around with it a bit and found that the sound was being made from the bottom left hand side of the phone (when screen is facing down). This is where the S-pen silo is, and it is the plastic around there that is making the noise. I'm wondering if anyone else has this 'issue' and would it be a problem? thanks

Hahah the reason I found out about this was from taking my case off the phone. I started flexing the device after I noticed the sound to investigate what it was.
My galaxy note 3 mic doesn't work when I try to talk on a call or using Google now. It does work when I record a video so I am wondering if there is multiple mics and what mic would I need to replace for talking on my phone.

Have you contacted Samsung support? If a mic is not working it sounds like a hardware defect.

Sorry for bumping a kind of old post, but anyway...
I had the same problem with the mic not working on my note 3 since the day i bought it, I bought my Note 3 used off Craigslist, and when I got home I realized that the microphone didn't work on calls, but worked just fine on speaker phone. I was somewhat annoyed by this, thinking I got screwed on craigslist again. But instead of throwing a fit about it, I just ordered another charging port / microphone thinking that would solve the problem. I installed it when it arrived, all excited like, only to find out that this didnt fix the problem. I read several posts on this forum and others, many offering what seemed to be viable solutions, disabling noise reduction, cleaning out the mic hole with a pin and so on, none of these worked, the problem still continued.
So tonight I set out on a mission to find the cause of the problem and i did just that... I started by taking my phone apart so that I could clean the mic hole from the inside as well as cleaning the little screen / filter on the inside of the mic hole and stuff like that, I was working in an area that had awkward lighting (my patio), and so I was having to move the phone in different ways so I could see down around the microphone, while doing that I noticed the light glimmering around the area of the mic hole, on the inside, I looked a little closer and I could see that there was definitely something there. I picked at it with my tweezers and what came up, a piece of clear plastic that resembled the plastic you find wrapped around the edges of new electronics, it was about 1/8in wide and 1" long, and it was covering the mic hole.
After removing the plastic, I reassembled my phone and tested it, now the mic works great. it seems that samsung put this thin plastic there to keep things out of the microphone, and it works well, it keeps everything out of the microphone, including the sound of your voice..
Now my Note 3 is what it was supposed to be from the day I bought it, an awesome phone. Prior to tonight its been a regretful purchase and disappointing upgrade to my Note 2, which I had regretted getting rid of, until now...

Hi, thanks for great troubleshooting.
I was hoping you have a picture of the problem area, since I have an issue with my speakerphone. People cannot hear me properly when on speakerphone. I may have to fix the microphone as well on my good old Note 3.
Has anyone successfully taken apart the headphones that come with the m8? I have got a bit of wax in the "grill" bit, if I can take them apart I can fix them, if not. I guess I have to go back to my earbuds :/

So it turns out its a pretty easy fix. If one of your earphones is a bit quieter than the other, it could be because you have got wax in the "grill" or "net" or whatever the technical term is, but basically I just took it off CAREFULLY as I didn't want to pierce is using a safety pin, and then just rinsed it under a tap for a few minutes, chucked it back on the earphone, left it to dry and wollah! I now have two evenly sounding earphones might try it with the right one to just give it a clean
It's not "and wollah", it's "et voilà". Perhaps your ear wax prevents you from hearing that correctly [emoji12]
