Hey fellas,
Got my hands on the SGP Crumena Leather pouch, which is SGP's attempt at making a pouch for our beloved Galaxy Nexus. This is made with vegetable leather, which both smells and feels great. The inside is covered in a suede material that adds protection & prevents scratches.
Check out the full review below for all info;
looks nice but not the product for me...
Thanks for the review. Im wondering though will marks easily be seen with this? As my experience with this leather color scratch marks are easily seen and they bother me big time.

I thought the pull tab were a bit rubberized so it will pull it self just like iPhone pouch from belkin, cmiiw

During the time I've used it I've noticed no issues, the leather seems tough but it may be prone to scratching.

Waiting for my Crumena to come from the USA...international USPS is horrible! I'll put some impressions here when I get it!
What about time when someone is calling? Does this magnet interrupt anything on the screen?
Is GPS fine as well?
Had bad experience with case with magnetic button and I don't want to waste some money to buy product which won't satisfy me.

Relax, you'll be fine. The magnet is very tiny, so it doesn't interfere with GPS, NFC or the screen. It was made strong enough to hold the strap tightly, that's it.

Thanks for the reply. I ordered mine already. Im wondering if u can still hear rings and txts with this pouch on.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
You can, depends on how you place the phone inside. If it's top first, you won't have any issues.

I just ordered this. Despite the review.
I received my SGP Crumena Black Leather Pouch few days ago and it is very good:
- fit is OK
- leather and seams are strong
- ring volume is OK if you insert the top of the cell first
- magnet is very very weak: it shouldn't be a problem for sensor of the GN. However it is strong enough to remain attached to the pouch
- interior of the pouch is very good.
To be honest, it's not so attractive (from an aesthetic point of view), but I think that this is the best protection for my GN.
Hey guys, for those of you who have the case, is there any way of making the notification led accessible, eg placing the phone head first. Does this also improve speaker volume? Thanks
Yes, it improve speaker volume. But led is not accessible.

yes..I was disappointed too ..
I have the toughcase and it fits my gsm nexus like a glove with no gaps at all. I didnt find another version for the verizon nexus. I ordered mine from htcpedia.com and they told me they contacted casemate but couldnt get an answer. The i515 is a tad thicker so i would think this should fit the 9250 but might not be perfect. Im not sure about the popcase.
My casemate pop is sitting in my closet waiting to go up on ebay. It's very protective but the charging port doesn't fit most chargers and is Very hard to take off, also the glossy plastic is a scratch magnet. I tried to like it but these issues are unacceptable

I used a drill bit to open up a hole for the backside microphone that was covered, and a file to widen the USB opening, so that I can use it with a car charger. Since it works well with the GSM extended battery, I prefer the tactile button action over the other 7 cases I have (cruzerlie, diztronic, case mate tough, silicrilic, rock, otterbox commuter, generic TPM).

Shouldn't need to drill a case to make it work. It should be working out of the box.
I've never been a fan of the Pop Case. It's either, barely there or tough case for me.
I had a Pop case for the Nexus S and it was a awful experience. I had the back creak because I was trying to push the phone out of the case too hard by accident.

Can you post some pics I was thinking the same thing, but with a large heated pin or something like that.
Do you all think we can make some kind of petition to case-mate for a swap, after all its not a cheap case and they could have fix this issues in the factory ?
As the thread title says, it just came in. Just put it on the phone and, no surprise, it's awesome. My phone is the Verizon LTE version with an extended battery and it fits perfectly (sure, it's a tight fit, but that's normal for Sena's stuff and will get easier to remove/replace as the leather molds to the phone). I'll put some pics up later when I can locate the regular digital camera.
I have had the opposite experience. I have a GSM nexus and the case is far too tight. The power and volume buttons are frequently pressed causing pocket screen shots and unnecessary ware on the buttons. I have had the case for just over a week and while it has stretched its still causing problems.
The best slip case so far has been a microfiber bag intended for my sunglasses. Although its not as pretty as the sena.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
One thing I have done to help the cases stretch is reach inside and spread it out. I did it by putting an old 2.5" laptop hard drive in the case.
Is it a pouch?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Got mine too. I have the GSM version and I have to agree, the fit is too tight.
I considered the Sena Ultra Slim too in my search for a nice and slim pouch but ultimately decided on the fitBag Beat.
It's not "super" slim as the Sena is but still slim. Have a look here if you are interested: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1454961
I love Sena ultra slim case. I had them on my HTC Desire, iPad 1 and iPad 2.
They are really tight in the beginning. But since they are leather, they stretch. After a week or two you should find them fitting snugly, but not too tight. As far as leather quality is concern, they are top notch.
That being said, I just don't feel like using a pouch on my phone anymore. But if I were to get one, this is definitely my choice.
Anyone else wishing there were thousands of tiny holes where the notification light sits (not to mention near the ringer speaker!) ?
Maybe I can mod mine with a needle and some patience...

Just go to Sena's homepage and order it! You will have it in 2 or 3 working days. Really fast delivery! But I would buy another case since it presses down the volume and power buttons all the time. I have tried to stretch the case a lot, but since the seaming is on the inside the problem still remains occasionally...

I find this happening less and less as I use the case, without even doing any deliberate stretching beyond leaving the phone in the pouch for hours at a time.
This thing is great for my battery life too as knowing I will need to remove the case helps me resist the urge to wake it up just to flip the home screens back and forth
The case is really tight at first but after a day it has stretched out quite nicely and it is a very comfortable fit, no issues with power button anymore.
Super slim, love it!

Hey guys! New here.
So I was about to buy the Ultraslim when much to my surprise I found a new case waiting for me! The ultraslim is now gone but the new design is much more appealing to me. Can't post links since I'm new, but it should be easy to find!
I'm hoping they fixed the tight fit problems. I might send a quick email to them asking about this.

Here is a quick video review I made of the Trident Kraken vs. the Otterbox Defender for our GN:
Feel free to ask any questions you may have and I'll try my best to answer them.
I have a Defender, and it sucks for this phone. The holster security is nice, but the thing looks retarded when the phone isn't in it....
Thanks for posting the video, you have solidified my decision in buying the Kraken that comes in next week!
Good review. And yeah I agree the belt holster clip on the trident is not easy to use. A more conventional type would have been better.
Ahh I thought this would be the Kraken against the Commuter, not the Defender. I think the Defender is atrocious IMHO
Have you considered comparing these cases to the Incipio Silicrylic? I always go with Incipio when possible. Their support is amazing, their prices are reasonable, and their products look nice.

Their feather case and the silicrylic case both do not fit with the extended battery and cover on, however if you pop the back door off the Nexus both fit like normal. I'm not sure about their TPU case though.
Yeah, I decided to compare these two because they are both supposed to be heavyweight cases unlike most others on the market.
I'd probably compare the Commuter to something like the Seidio cases.
As far as the Incipio, that would probably compare with the likes of the SGP Neo Hybrid or Ultra Hybrid.
I might do something like that next.

Does that come with a holster? If so, I may make a comparison vid with that one against the Trident Kraken.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
Just got my defender today. I'll go ahead and give my 5-minute analysis. My Trident Kraken should be here early next week.
Pros:
Will protect phone very well (obviously)
Belt-clip holster is top-notch
The feel of pressing the side buttons is nice
Fantastic grip on the phone
Cons:
Dust and lint MAGNET
Hard to move in/out of pocket, might as well use the holster everywhere you go
Built-in screen protector is HORRIBLE. It makes the screen look as if it is covered in a thin layer of grease (I will be tearing this thing off)
Fairly impossible to see notification pulse if not viewing at direct angle
My GSM moves up/down inside of the case slightly (may not occur with extended battery)
Two other small gripes are that the mic hole is a bit off from where it is cut into the silicone shell (probably not a big deal, though). Also, pulling back the dust covers for access to the charging and audio port is also a small pain due to the way they open. It's essentially a two hand task (one to hold open the cover, the other to plug in) which was different from my old phone where once the cover was open, it would stay open by itself.
I will probably only use the Defender when I go to work. Other than that, I see the Kraken as being my daily case. I'll update in a few days with my opinion on it.
OP, it appears the Kraken covers up the LED notif light. Can you confirm?

the case is made for the cdma version or extend version, if you put two small bandaids on the inside of the back plastic plate it will keep your phone from shifting and avoid all scratches.

I've got mine 4 days ago... What can I say:
Fantastic material, good build quality and nice touch. It really looks good on phone and give nice feeling while I am holding the phone. Yes, it gets little "bulky" (can't easily put phone into the pocket and take it out....) but, I am pretty sure that the phone is protected very well now and that's most important It gives nice grip and no chance of accidentally drop down...
Issues:
There was a little issue with power button that doesn't fit nice and it needs few hours/day to "settle in" but now it's okay... No similar problems with volume buttons. Actually now I don't need to put "force" on power button, just nice soft touch and it works.
Also, when I type something in landscape position the lower keys on keyboard are little hard to press quickly because the rubber is almost 2-2.5mm higher than display surface... But it's really not a issue that serious.
No problems with any other holes on case, camera/flash works well, speaker also... usb and headphone jack can be used normally..
I'm really pleased with case
I can take some pictures if u want 'cause it looks little different on phone than on web...
Any other questions?
p.s If u decide to buy it, go on amazon/ebay to save almost half of the case mate.com price
I would love some pics... Thanks again.

As listed elsewhere, the revision opened up the USB port area and added a hole for the back mic.
I'm using the the white one now. It's not too bulky, and the buttons are easy to operate.
Also have one. The revision consists of more accurate cut outs & a mic cutout on the top of the battery door. This is by far my favorite case out of the 10 that I picked up. Very high quality material, great grip & durability. Top notch protection.

How bad does it attract lint?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
I got mine last week. No issues with lint, although I am not sure I understand how lint could stick to it. the outside shell is a hard plastic, with an inner rubber shell.
The one thing that I am not happy about is the ox screen protector is being rubbed by the case, causing bubbles; but that is more an issue with the protector & not the case.
Oh I thought the silicone was over the hard plastic!
Nope. cusion is on the inside, with the protective shell covering it.
So far I found this one: PDair black with red stitches. Any other suggestions?

The case looks sharp indeed. How is the little retractor doing? No damage to screen?
I had something similar for my old Palm Pre2 and it wacked my screen pretty quickly because the stitching inside.
Edit: is confirmed by a reviewer also:
The one critique I have with this pouch is that the strap you pull to pop the phone out is stitched into the inside of the pouch on the same side as the phone's screen. I have a screen protector on my phone, and am finding small dots/dents in the screen protector forming the shape of a square from the stitches inside the pouch anchoring the strap.
Click to collapse
The case I got for Pre2 was the original model made by Palm and it still managed to damage the screen. I don't understand how was that possible as the screen was Gorila glass, but it had 2 thin mate spots that annoyed me the hell out.
I don't use screen protectors. Just a personal preference bit never liked them. After 6 months in and out of spigen pouch there is absolutely no marks on the screen. I mean not a single mark. I was thinking about cutting the strap and throwing it away because once the leather took shape of the phone I can now shake it out without using the strap and I found this to be much easier.
Leather looks better every next day (I went for brown version) and it feels really nice.
I promise I do not work for spigen but I have seen some of the other accessories they do and the quality of their products is second to none. Have a look how beautifully made are the ipad cases on spigen website. Can't wait until they make one for my nexus 7 as well.

I almost bought this until I realized it was almost 1/2 an inch to short. I emailed the company to inquire about the possibility of a case made for larger Android phones and received a reply later the same day " Let me go ahead and pass this along to Dave so that he can take a look, and maybe we'll come out with a longer Sleeve just for phone like that one you have there."
