I've been using an app called "OS MONITOR" https://market.android.com/details?id=com.eolwral.osmonitor&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5lb2x3cmFsLm9zbW9uaXRvciJd since I got my GN and I'm now on a mission to improve the battery life by seeing what programs I can disable/live without for the sake of battery life.
I've got the app running in the task bar and monitoring CPU usage with a refresh rate of 2 seconds.
Now from what I've noticed in battery settings, it doesnt seem to keep the phone awake and i still get 2+hours of screen time with fairly heavy usage.
Anyone familiar with the app and its power consumption?

I've installed battery monitor widget, that gives battery graph in 1% resolution.
While idle (at night) I see a 1% consumption every hour and half.
Occasionally I see a higher consumption rate of about 1% every 45 minutes, always while idle.
I'm tring to pinpoint the guilty application. Using the built in android battery statistics seems to be of no use: consumption seems to be too low to be counted against other categories like screen, wifi or telephone itself.
So far I've proceeded by chance: I tried killing suspected apps and seeing battery graph after that.
Right now i've got a couple of suspects: vital player and open gps tracker.
Even if they are not in use (movie stopped and gps disabled) they seems to eat some more battery than the average background app.
Is there a more scientific approach?

Watchdog Task Killer. Set it on real time and you may track down the app.

Or, from the same people as Battery Monitor Widget, a Process Monitor Widget. Remember to freeze both after you are done as they both drink battery juice to do their useful job.
+1 for Watchdog. SetVsel is also very good at undervolting; if you're into that sort of thing.
Hi guys,
My phone is constantly "awake" despite rarely even turning on the screen.
Would you know what could be causing this?
I'm currently running Caulkins rom and whatever kernel it came with.
My battery life is ~15 hours so I dont think it's affecting my battery too much.
Either way, is there an app that can tell me whats causing the drain?
First of all, to see if your CPU is sleeping properly when the screen is off, download CPU spy… it is an app that gives you total time the CPU has spent in each scaling frequency available.
Then download watchdog, this app tells you which programs are polling the CPU for usage.
Then download “better battery stats”.. this app tells you if there are wakelocks.
With those 3 apps running at the same time, you will find out any abnormalities in your system caused by applications.
Side note – disregard info that either of the apps report about each other (obviously)
i;m on cm 10.1 M3 and my battery running out very fast. On data connection something about 30% in 1h. And its charging very fast full battery in 1h. Can someone help me?

Dirty Flash?
Low signal area?
From what I know 4.22 has about 1 hour less screen on time than 4.12. Then again, I think we all here can drain about 30% battery in a hour, if we wanted to. What exactly are you doing in that 1 hours time.
battery isn't what it used to be.
4.1.2 was much better battery wise
Some solutions
you can try apps like:
greenify which hibernates background apps and some other apps which are hibernated as your phone goes in standby. (Root)
Ds battery saver which will turn off wifi when the phone is on standby.
Cpu sleeper which turns off one core when phone is on standby (Root)
Battery Calibration (Root)
Lux auto brightness which adjust the brightness and is battery efficient
You can under clock or under volt or even change your screens colour settings. (Root)
Hope these apps and tips help
While i acknowledge that most of battery life is determined by the actions of the user and what apps they use, some ROM/Kernel combos just have notoriously crap battery life regardless of how you cut it. I have found that 10.1 and its stock kernel are one of those instances. Hell, even while using a different kernel and great settings i still have been unable to get the same kind of battery as i can with other combos. Personally, EOS is the complete package of customizability and battery life out of the box for me. Perhaps you should give it a shot. CyanogenMod is just far too dirty.

All good except for Battery Calibration. That app, and others that operate on the same premise are 100% snake oil. And end user can do the exact same thing that the app does simply by unplugging their phone from the charger after a full or near-full charge. It in no way, shape, or form touches anything related to battery life or battery charge indication.

Hey, about 2 weeks ago I noticed weird behavior from my battery.
When phone is locked battery drain is too fast.
It seems that the "android system" keep the phone awake for long periods,
And that the "android os" keep using the cpu.
I've been trying many thing - wifi, location, sync etc but nothing helped.
Used system panel to monitor my battery life,
Here are the results from the last 8 hours (100% at morning till now)
Attached photos - Overall battery usage, Screen on, Android System, Android OS, System Panel and More detailed system processes,
In the first 3 system processes there is high cpu usage even when screen is off..
(Top one, System, attached)
I know the overall battery using seems to be good,
But it's only because I've been using the phone the whole day.
The problem is when I'm not using it - it drain very fast with no reason.
I don't remember any change I've done (didn't update the software, maybe an app),
And before that the battery life was great (and so they are now if I'm using the phone continuously without "putting it in my pocket".)
Any help?
I have a brand new lg g3 d855 successfully updated to lollipop. The reason is still unknown i was having the same problem. But then in a video at youtube i saw an app known as "qualcommn snapdragon guru" download it use its feature to stop apps and all that stuff and battery will be very improved.
Well if i look at your screenshot i could say it was normal, the one that draining your battery is your screen (based on your ss). But in other way you can download some apps to control your kernel (e.g kernel auditor) and swipe to "kernel samepage merging" tab, look if its on or off, if on just turn it off and see your battery life then, it happen to me sometimes.
Let me put in the details.
I just came from MIUI 9.5.1x.y(forget the exact version) China version and now on LOS 15.1 official.
My old experience with that MIUI is optimal for standby battery life, especially during midnight with flight mode on. 8~9 hour just had the battery down by 1 ~2 percent at max. For MIUI, I use the built-in battery saving mode and disallowed most apps' background activities.
In LOS, I root and utilize greenify for similar task, and also enable the built-in battery saver. Yet, it gives me quite different result. About 7~8% usage overnight. That's far from optimal.
So my question are:
Do you have similar experiences?
If the answer is yes, how do you find the causes of the unnecessary battery drain? And how to solve it?
Any clues and helps are welcome.
Use an app to find out what is causing wakelocks during the night?
BetterBatteryStats for example.
You should Monitor Your Battery with Gsam and Betterbatterystatus Application also Monitor Cpu Deep Sleep
got to battery stat in system setting , check what apps running in background and disable(if available) what apps that can running in background.
