Dsexton702 is a Great Dev.

So theres this developer name Dsexton702 mostly working at the SGS4G forum at the moment and he was one of the first devs in tjat communitee... Since then hes made ICBINB roms that are so smooth and responsive and is amazing at tweaking and scripting files. And that adrenaline shot people flashed was by him! So what i was thinking is trying to get a SGS II for him as a early christmas present. If you guys agree i will love to set up a thread and make fund for him. If you want to see his work go to the Galaxy S 4G forum and youll see he did great things for their communitee and i was pleased with my old SGS4G mostly because of him! So if anyones interest please let me know!
P.S. Hes amazing at making tweaks and his status is now Recognizable Dev not Senoir Member! That shows how much he helps out to our phones!

Its not bribing. Its called something support! He actually does something for other communities and maybe he doesnt have the amount of money needed for his phone? Maybe hes in college and if youve been to college finance is a problem!

I honestly feel the same way. I think most of us has bills to pay but we can't keep having to put money up for these devs.

I am very aware of what both of us said. Are you aware that this isn't the first post about donating money towards a dev for a phone? Whatever happen to the old days when a dev would just buy a phone and dev for the fun of dev'in? I'm not saying that some devs don't deserve us donating every once in a while, but lets not make BAD-AP (buying a dev a phone) the new standard. To those who feel like donating more power to you.

as a long time evo4g user I'm just not used to this buying a dev a phone thing. People bought the e4g because. I donated to devs before but only to those devs who already donated their free time to make something innovating for my phone. Make something unique for my current phone and I'll throw you a few bucks then.
If you used this guys roms, enjoyed them, feel free to throw him some money. But thats as far as I would personally go but I live in America whee people are free to do stuff I don't approve of or annoys me

All devs would bring something unique/different to the table, but I personally don't agree with purchasing a phone for a dev. If anyone chooses to do so then great for them. I am not discouraging people to not support their favorite dev.

A dev can personally make their own tweaks (adrenaline shot) and make our phones ten times faster and more responsive! Or make roms that are customized and such even ask whitehawkx how well dsexton can do for our communitee!

So now we got a dev that makes kernel, another one that makes roms, one that makes themes and another ones that kangs everything. If there is a dev out there that can put windows phone 7 or ios on my phone, I will definitely donate to him/her.

I'm interested in seeing what effect these types of threads have on the community. I think we want them to donate time but we can't see donating to them for the phone. Either way thanks to those who do dev and code.

I would like to thank any dev that has provided any work for the et4g. If you have done any work for this phone from wallpapers ,roms,kernels and mods. I may not use your work but does not mean that I don't thank you from the bottom of my heart ....I appreciate anything you have provided for us ...I am sorry that any of the community has given you all grief .... Hope all the devs keep up the good work, We have a bunch of great roms and dont forget the themes

I notice that a couple of my favorite people(devs) from my original Epic read and posted here. I always thank you when I borrow your work on the dev threads but just so you know, I too very much appreciate your efforts and sometimes thick skin

I've owned a lot of devices and there have been some with little to no support...even some with no root. Since the first day I started watching these forums I was impressed with the developers and the work being done. Since buying the phone they only continue to impress me.

We have some devs that come from epic4g and there wasn't much of a learning curve for them ... Then we have some devs that came from htc and this phone is really nothing like a htc ....there is a big learning curve there ....
Aosp is totally a different beast also ... The learning curve is alot bigger on ics vs gingerbread... With all the new back smalli junk in the rom... This is one reason ics is alot harder to deal with . It is nothing like the roms to date. Well if people don't respect what the devs do. Install ubuntu in windows , get android kitchen and try to make your own rom .... You will then have much respect for the work they give us ..

That was chris41g (above) and it was pretty slick of him. I think it is beyond pitiful for people to complain about all of the unpaid work that goes on in these and other forums.

Chris is the man. He doesn't even own the phone and yet somehow puts up with a bunch of **** and keeps chugging away making our lives better.

I wanted to ask everyone here for your help to get the ball rolling to get TEAM WHISKEY start developing for our phone. They just need a few more funds to get the phone for them to start cooking something REAL GOOD.
Now, if you had the Vibrant you know exactly who they are and what they can do.
If you don't just go to the Vibrant forum and search BIONIX 1.3.1. Best Vibrant rom made #PERIOD They brought Froyo to the Vibrant way before Tmobile release an update. They turned the Vibrant from a POS to a great phone.
So can they bring ICS to our phone before an update?, MAYBE. They definitely can if all the source is there. (once it's out)
They took a break, but now are making there way back to the scene.
Now this is not exactly a bounty because a donation is not necessarily needed, but would definitely help.
All you have to do is go to there webpage http://www.teamwhiskey.com/ and click on one of their adsense ads and they will get credit for it.
Now if you would like to donate you can register and donate there.
Either way I hope you guys help with at least a click of the mouse.
Believe me when I say that you won't regret it.
I know we already have some great devs here, but these guys are known for changing the game.

also XDA rules only allows direct link to the ROM files
and screen shots
changelogs are nice to have, but not necessary if it's outside work
it's a must if it's local in house XDA development

Are they going to support the galaxy nexus when and if it comes to Tmobile? Love their ROMs and were the only ones I placed on my phone I trust them to make any phone zing and rock. Just my 2 cents

On a side note ..
I don't blame them, with all the drama that has been going on lately I can tell why.
Some people just don't know how to act and take things personal when it's the internet and XDA is for mostly Development, Customization and 411 of phones. Not personal vendettas and haterism.

If and when it comes out for T-Mobile they will. They announced it a couple weeks ago.
But this is for our SGS2 not Nexus, at least not yet.

That I would love to see one of these for nick from miui.us as that rom (once it became more stable) was a literal transformation of performance on my vibrant even compared to cm7.

I'm getting sick and tired of people disrespecting our developers and themers we have in our community. If you don't like what they do or how they do it, then sell your device and keep it moving. This is not their job, it isn't their means of income, so they aren't obligated to keep you posted on updates or follow your request. If you donate to them understand that it's a donation and not payment for services. We should be grateful for them and the things that they do for our devices. Your 2 cents are not needed in their threads, so leave them be if you don't like what they do. If you do have some advice for them, make sure you don't come off being a **** about it. We need to more respectable towards these people who take time out of their lives to do what they enjoy to and they are kind enough to share it with us. Where is the moderation in these forums?
How does a place the size of XDA plan to continue when every last thread is ****ted up with troll bull**** and not a thing is done to stop it?
I've administrated/moderated forums in the past and any forum is only as good as the moderation it has. There will always be trolls posting garbage all over the place. That's the nature of the internet; but the level of moderation will determine whether the forum is a constructive place to be with a positive atmosphere our a steaming ****pile.
No one wants their opinions or ideas censored or stifled. That's not the point of moderation. But we need to get rid of the **** posts and the people who post them.
When you have a group of people posting for the sole purpose of pissing others off to a point that developers are leaving, someone needs to step in.

Well, I think the guy is KillaHurtz. There is many evidence, but saying it would make me sound like a stalker . If I do get banned like he says I will, keep in mind that Thomas Montano a.k.a killahurtz is the reason you will not see wp7, FrozenGB, and possibly AOSP ics. Sorry android community. Calkulin is not a recognized developer??!?

I had not paid attention before today, but I noticed that Calkulin is not a recognized developer! I looked up what is required and he seems to fit the bill.
Maybe he has not filled out an application. I think in his case the moderators should upgrade him to Recognized Developer with or without an application. When I first purchased this phone and was trying to decide on which rom to start with, it became obvious that he was recognized even without the title. I saw more than one person posted that they bought this phone because they saw him developing for it. He is very involved with every leak or upgrade. His interaction with everyone is exemplary. His work provides a good base for other developers working with our phone.

Edit: Thanks for thanking me, but I haven't developed anything. Go find something of Calk's that you have not thanked him for and thank him. He is the one that deserves it! And remember to thank the other developers and people that help.

I assume that maybe he doesn't want to have that status. He is most definitely a Dev though. I've used his ROM's since the Windows mobile days.... Very smart man =)

That should tell you something about xda... if you can't pick up on the clue.

I totally agree on this one... before cm9 came his from is the only thing I would run as a dd.... I would play with others but always end up back at calk!

Yep flashed many of his roms on win mo back in the day from ppcgeeks. Calk is the man!

I think that everyone agrees with you. He is too busy developing to care if he has a title on this site. It hasn't and won't keep him from developing. I have seen a number of recognized developers around the forums and thought that he deserved it. In the OP I said that he maybe hadn't filled out an application, and he probably has not and doesn't care.
I was just posting because I thought he deserved the sign of respect.

I'm quite sure this is the deal.
He'd been developing for the OG EVO for a long time here on XDA as well. He knows he's a great Dev, the community knows he's a great Dev, and that's really all that matters. He obviously doesn't care about titles and I respect him for that.

I always wondered about those. Seems like a lot of well know themers\devs do not have recegnized developer or themer. I would love to know how they choose.

There is only one benifit to having that title. Being able to lock and close your own threads. That's it. Other than that its just words. Everyone knows Calk is extremely talented and that's all that really matters. So I don't blame him for not worring about it. I have seen many with that title and Calk deserves it way more then they did. But ah well. If he ever wants it just has to fill out the form.

Who is Calkulin and what does he do?
PS: he saved my Samsung Moment from flying into a brick wall at 50 MPH.

I don't think anyone mentioned him being the desperate. I think that "Hint: If you're desperate for such a title, you don't deserve it. " was meant in general to others who just want to release kanged ROM's and claim all work or demand the dev status right away.

Agreed. That was my first experience with his work and then I used his work on my brother's Evo. Now I use it on this once again. I can' ask for a more dedicated developer. Glad he picked this phone up to dev on.

This is the first time I have used any of his work. He never did anything on my previous phone. But still, from what I've seen he seem like a really cool cat. Respected and rightfully so and never harsh to answer a question. I think it would be nice for him to have the title so he could have more control over his threads and such. But he doesn't need it to get mine or many others respect.

+1 to the comment he doesn't need a title to have my respect.
Calkulin's ROMs were my first experience with anything other than stock rooted. I like his work and think this community would miss him tremendously if he left.

I have run Calkulin's roms on, I believe, 5 devices going back several years. I also used his kitchen to cook my own Windows Mobile roms back in the day.
The man is a legend.
