Phone tabs at bottom of screen

Mods, if this topic should be in Q&A, please move it there...
I just watched an engadget video of the sony ericsson play (ps phone) and one thing that popped out was the phone tabs were at the bottom of the screen. That is a very interesting look and I would like to know how it was done. Also, if this could be implemented in a theme or a standalone phone/contact.apk, it would be very cool.
I don't know what xml (if any) would need to be edited to get this look. If someone would be kind enough to figure it out and toss it over, many would enjoy. One for froyo and one for gingerbread would be great.
I'll update this post with an update.zip for all to enjoy and give props to the problem solver...

i think u would do better by posting a link to the video so that people can see what you are talking about. cuz i personally have no clue what u are talking about. are u talking about the tabs within the dialer for like call history and contacts? i think those are the tabs. i have a sense rom so i wouldnt know about stock dialer

In call camera

Quick question. Didnt see this mentioned anywhere sorry if it was. Any way to be able to use the camera during a call? I dont see why it would be disabled but i needed to but couldnt today. Not a big deal just wondering!

yea i got tired of not being able to do what i wanted during a call also. go check out wave launcher in the market im sure theres a free version. im just a fan of it thats all, its on my top 3 must have apps everytime i flash. check it out its pretty cool. later, veritas

i wish this were true. alas using the camera while on a call is not a feature of potatoman's modified camera.apk.
sadly, it's not even in his "possible features [he's] looking at implementing" list.
hope someone can make this mod soon. it's the only camera mod (other than focus sound disabling) that i'm concerned about.

I just tested and it works fine with the Camera Fun app that was free on Amazon a while ago. It's not the stock camera, but it'll work. Right?

Coming from an EVO 4G, this is a feature I miss badly, being able to take a quick picture while on a call. I remember the original Epic couldn't do it either and it was one of the reasons I went back to the EVO. I'm not planning on leaving the SGSIIE4GT though

Been having trouble with this as well. Will go and experiment with those and come back!

I believe it is a touch wiz issue. I have the Samsung Epic with Cyanogenmod you can take a picture which making a phone call because it does not have touch wiz but with every touch wiz Rom you can't. You can wait for Cyanogenmod to support your phone. But you will be waiting a long time.

Yeah the issue is when you are on a voice call if you try to take a pic you are not allowed to even load the camera app at all. Even if you hit the Home button and goto the main screen (with call in background) there is no way of doing it. It's kinda annoying at times when you have to tell someone "Hey let me call you right back I need to take a pic of something and send it to you"
I've had to do that far to often then I'd like to lol.

Can you tell me, does Samsung Galaxy Nexus have usb-host? Google says that you can connect keyboards, mouses etc. But not any word about usb flash drives. Does SGN can recognise any flash drives like it can do Galaxy S2?

@tvp I would say the audio is on par with the Galaxy S II for speaker use, Still the single speaker, but I found using headphones the nexus was slightly better than my S II. Plus i use my phone for music through my cars built in 3.5mm jack and ics has an equalizer in the music player meaning you can really get the best out of your music depending on what your using eg headphones, speaker, car etc just by tweaking the EQ

Can you tell me if the phone dialer works by spelling out a name on the phone dialer screen from your contacts to look up the number?
I have an HTC TB, and the HTC dialer is great.
I hope this phone does this, or i will have to find an app I suppose.

Ok Usb host: I have not been able to try this however it was a feature in android v3 so i dont see it being removed in ICS when i get the chance il try it.
Flash: I have as of yet not been able to get it to work. I have installed flash 11 with no joy I am awaiting confirmation on whats happening with this
And no name dialling it simply displays the number however on ever page of ICS you have a search bar and you just type the name into that and it brings up the contact where you can call straight from there

no flash ??? That's gone be an issue seeing as they are NOT updating flash to support new versions

I know it appears to be an issue since adobe gave up on flash. Im waiting to hear from Samsung regarding this to see if they have any solution as its kind of a major omission esp until everyone starts to use html5

I think an alternative (3rd party app) for the HTC dialer would be something like RocketDialer
And Kenneth, first of all I wanted to thank you for the amazing video you posted (also thanked you on the video itself Second, I wanted to ask if you could download the most memory/processor intensive apps that you know of and see if there is any sluggish performance or noticeable lag? (A video would be extremely appreciated) Third, I wanted to know with the multitasking, does it save the last previous state? E.g. for the iphone (as far as I know), when you load a webpage in the browser, exit out of it open some other apps, and then go back into the browser the exact state is saved so it doesn't reload the page when you re-enter the webpage. Finally, I would appreciate it if you could download some free games (e.g. wind up knight, tap tap revenge 4) that require a huge amount of graphics and attempt to play it on the phone. The phone is known to have a really, REALLY, outdated GPU and I wanted to know how it performs.

Would you be able to find out if OTG usb works? Particularly whether or not the Galaxy Nexus can browse the contents of a usb thumb drive? I have been asking all over the forum and over the internet and as yet still cannot find information, documentation or videos that this is possible.

Great vid! Any graphic studdering during games or anything? I don't play many games but alil worried about the lesser gpu.

id ask a question but at this point I'm just waiting until Monday when we're supposed to be getting this phone. I want to see what its like in person & decide then if I want to keep this Rezound or switch up.

- Accelerate/brake and steer at the same time (tks mixedlemon)

- Detailed Shadows, Traffic Lights, Blood
- Hi Resolution
just download attached zip file (gta3HiResV02.zip), and copy extracted file (gta3.set) to: /sdcard/Android/data/com.rockstar.gta3/files/GTA3
- backup existing one
Basically it is .set file specific for Galaxy Nexus

Thanks man, not only does this look better but on my Nexus it also fixed the touchscreen issue of not being able to accelerate/brake and steer at the same time.

Do you think it's possible to get a fix so that we can jump out of moving cars? There's a bug that doesn't allow you to get out of a car until it has come to a complete stop? How else are we supposed to ghost ride cars into crowds of people lol?

How are you guys getting this game to show in market? It won't show if I search manually in market and if search in browser it just shows as incompatible.
I'm happy to buy legit way just can't, any help please?
To be clear im not asking for warez just want a way to buy off market in legit fashion

just saved and had to retry a mission, works here

Any reason why my language is not English. Added the file and all the text is non English. Maybe Italian.

I'm starting to think that it may have only been the international versions that had compatibility restrictions, even when it wasn't playable on the Nexus and specifically stated "Coming soon for the Galaxy Nexus" I was always able to find it in my market and buy it from my CDMA Galaxy Nexus on Verizon.
This is just my best guess based on not reading anything, so if anyone else knows more about the subject please correct me.
Have you tried using Market Enabler?
Back during the $0.10 sales I had to edit the build.prop files on my HTC Rezound to make it think it was a Nexus S in order to buy the Gameloft games. Perhaps you'd be able to change it to identify your device as a Rezound or some other phone on the supported devices list?

I'm not seeing a gta.set file... should I just place this one in there? or am I missing somethin?
edit: Nevermind, there was no .set file in there to backup, but dropping this in there actually made a huuuuge difference. Thanks alot.

I had this problem too at first. There's a number of different versions out, being in Australia I'm pretty sure we would've had a censored version. Try going to https://market.android.com/developer?pub=Rockstar+Games,+Inc. and see what shows up. I used to be able to see 3 different versions but only one was installable, though they must have updated it recently because now the other versions are hidden from me.

Had to rename it as an existing notification but now up and running on my Galaxy Nexus. Thanks.

Can a very kind person post up the notification ringtone "HI" ? I googled everywhere and cannot find (its a little 3-tone beep)..... many thanks

Ive gotta laugh at the whistle notification sound every message i get wether it be sms, email i always get a strange look from whoever be walking past me puts a smile on my face though lol

I don't know if you still need it, but here are all notificiation sounds from the ICS ROM i use Didn't know which one you meant, so I just uploaded all

Thanks for helping Kevin but there still no HI notification in your zip.....
The tone I hoped to find is like sherbet but is a little quicker and higher tone ........ I was on cm7....then installed the early builds of cm9.... and found this great notification tone called HI....... was using it and was very happy but when updated to a newer experimental build I lost it and googled everywhere and cannot find...... its so strange.... I don't know where to look.......searched all XDA and downloaded everything but not that tone.....
I'm not complaining at all as I have gone with another tone waterdrops....but HI is still my favourite and seems like I lost it forever....... I did backups before and did too many so I had to delete some so I cannot go back to previous versions just to pull out that ringtone.....

here you find all the nightlies. if you remember when it was i would recommend to download that nightly again and extract it (just open it with winrar/7-zip or whatever )
