I've been searching for a long time with no luck.
How to disable volume rocker sound or just to make it beeping though speaker not headphones?
I'm using latest CM7.2
Whats volume rocker sound??

I think they mean the sound when you hit the volume up/down buttons and it makes the "boop" noise (when it changes the volume of the Ringer).
I'm always afraid of accidentally hitting the volume rocker late at night and waking everybody up. :/

Yes it is exactly what i mean. And it is very uncomfortable to hear it in headphones (it's very loud)
Hmm, setting sound on vibrate mode and use mediavolume, wich is not making sound..

in media/audio/ui there is nothing about volume.
There is only keypress, low battery, lock/unlock etc.
If you are in cm7 there is "lock volume keys" in cyanogenmod settings, you can press the volume buttons without anything happening. Can't help you with the sound though

Indeed. Aside from the boot combinations that's about it.
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII
Hold search button for voice commands.
Now we're done
well if were gonna go there, hold home for recent apps
and i wish holding back would kill current app like in MIUI
Menu key opens menu (in apps that support it).
The volume rocker obviously controls the volume... And if you hold the volume down it puts your phone on silent with vibration.
Lol... Now were done here.

I did this while trying to respond to this post and my phone suddenly rebooted. I'm not sure what I did wrong
Home brings you to the home screen when in an app.
And we're done

volume up and power until phone turns off and go into recovery
volume down and power until phone turns off and go into odin
now are we done?
Some ROMs allow for holding volume buttons to change tracks. I think we're done now ;p

heres a hidden one...tapping the power button turns the screen off. techwire news just announced a juicy little tip, tapping power button one time while screen is off will actually turn it back on thought id pass these new tricks on.

Well, if you're going to get into the soft keys, holding Home brings up recently used apps and task manager. hold the search brings up an app selection including Sound hound if you have it installed.

Does anyone know if there is a way to manually assign something to a long menu press on stock? I know you can do it with CM7, but I haven't found anything for TouchWiz.
If your phone is on and you have cwm installed you can press and hold the power and volume buttons together and it will take you straight to recovery.

[Q] How to use the volume button to go from volume --> vibrate --> silent no vibrate?
I had this on my Galaxy S2 and S1...I can't remember how I did it though.
I would like the phone to go from Volume --> vibrate --> slient with just the volume keys, as it is now I have to use the quick toggles to choose between vibrate and silent.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Does it.... You sure that it just doesn't lower the volume and go to vibrate...not mute then vibrate?

Hrm well I am on clean rom but that's just stock debloated and perseus kernel. It's possible that functionality came from either of this but I don't think it did although of course I could be wrong. If I hit volume down it'll go from sound> vibrate> mute.

Stock drops the volume down and then to vibrate... no mute. As you drop the volume down, 1 step before vibrate still makes a tone, so thats not mute.
I came from a HOX, and that did the Volume down>mute>vibrate.
S.
For some reason I'm on stock rom and mine goes from volume->vibrate->silence.

That's what I've been doing...but not answering my question.
I use power toggle for that, it's on play i find it the fastest way to go. Vol - silent - vibrate

My up volume button is broke and now it don't click when volume up is pressed its essentially turned into a touch sensitive button, I've already been using the no volume keys mod from viper x on it but when music is playing even on screen off the volume keys work, does anyone know how to disable this? I'm sick of my music blaring when it's in my pocket, thanks

So.. I don't mean to sound like a troll at all, so please don't take it this way... Just a serious question...
When you are on a call... You can use the volume rocker to lower your in call volume. Have you tried that?
Also, rooting in and of itself shouldn't cause any changes to the phone other than granting super user privileges.

Another option would be do a factory reset and see what that does for you.

First thing I thought of too. Why not just lower the volume?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
When I first setup my note II, I set it so the home button WOULDN'T turn on the screen and the volume keys would change music tracks. When my screen was off, I could hold volume up/down and the screen would stay off and the music track would change accordingly.
Recently, when I hold a volume key, the track will change, but then the screen will unlock. I've edited the gpio-keys file, but that didn't do anything.
Is there any way to figure out why the volume keys are unlocking the screen?
What ROM because it may very based on what you're in
