[Q] [ROM] Paradox Questions and Concerns - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I just rooted my phone and the first ROM I installed was Paradox. Yada yada yada it all went fine. I fixed the "error 492" but now some odd things are happening.
1.) My Google Search widget switched from the default ICS look to the standard white/gray look. Why is that?
2.) When I get a new message it does not notify me with a sound or vibration. I downloaded GO SMS Pro to solve it but frankly that app pisses me off. Also, the default messaging doesn't give you an option to attach a file. There are plenty of ways to get around it but why not the option?
3.) What alternate ROM do y'all recommend I get? I enjoy the absence of TouchWiz on this one which is why I went for it but I think there may be better ones out there.

Tuesday, BeastMod, juggernaut, and slickmod are all good roms.. Be on the the lookout for a new rom about to hit in a couple of days. Or an update of an old ROM, that's gonna be killer.

Fyi, the paradox dev has been working on his second paradox ROM. It's just a matter of time before he releases it.

Update
Problem 2 is completely solved. I had to change some things in the settings of the message app.

CM7 help.

Ok this is the first time I ever used CM anything. I figured out how to get the gapps but how to integrate my DB contacts with my reg. Ones? I've been on myn's so I don't know what I have been missing. I even read the wiki on this.
1. Fb integration
2. Changing toggles in notification bar.
3. Finding a red/black theme
4. Swype for cyan ?
5. Anything else useful I should know.
Please and thank you! (I'll be sure to hit the thank button if you help me.)

By DB contacts do you mean from a microsoft exchange account? Best to export them to a .vcf file and import them to your phone.
1. install facebook, under settings, accounts and sync, check the sync contacts box. That'll link it.
2. Settings, cyanogenmod settings, interface, notification power widget.
3. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11760329#post11760329
4. Go onto swype's website, sign up NOW, they'll send you an email with instructions. Do it now because its a beta that will close soon. Its still free.
5. Enjoy it.

I flashed the themes from the destroyer ROM over CM7 and they work great as well. They will give you a lot of options, about 13 in the theme manager.
Contrary to what the person above me said, most themes you no longer need to flash. CM has the T-Mobile Theme Engine now, which just lets you side-load an APK, then select the theme in the Theme Manager app, then reboot. That's it!
No more flashing crap that breaks on every other update.
where are they? My CM theme manager only came with 3 options. Love to get more easily
I mean fb contacts lol and I'll try these. I was gonna say I'm getting horrible battery but it's hard to judge cause my phone was in the coat room with no signal 58%.

All over the place! There's some in the Market, and dozens posted in all of the Themes sections here on XDA. You could give BlueBuzzer or Honeybread a try, for example.
Remember, just download the APK, install the APK, select the theme in the manager, and then reboot. No flashing or anything. Taking a backup beforehand though wouldn't hurt.
The red CM7 THEME is amazing. I would like to know why my juice defender isn't working though. I cannot accurately judge my battery life but I know Juice would help me.

I don't use it personally, but not all apps are compatible with 2.3 [gingerbread] yet, so you may have to wait.
It's probably cause I'm running an older version. Don't really like the new UI. I am gonna try installing a different version to see if it makes a difference. Now I understand what all this GB hype is about.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Yea, I went gingerbread when it came out soon after I first rooted my phone and refuse to look back.
I can see why. I was wondering if anyone knew how to get my name on the lock screen in cm7.

Well I think that is what you're looking for. You do that method, except he used "karadorde" for his phone, and I put it teh roxxorz on mine. You can make the text say whatever you want it to. And mine shows up like that on the lock screen and notification bar.
It worked. I used AndroZip and Terminal Emulator. Wasn't hard I just didn't read the second set of steps cause I thought it was an adb only thing. It effin' worked I'm "pimpin'" now hahaha.

[Q][ICS] Looking for proper/working SMS Splitting

Not sure if this is the right place to post this - sorry in advance.
I'm looking for a flashable MMS.apk or .zip that would give me the stock ICS messaging app with SMS splitting that works.
The only ROM I know that has this working properly is Apex. Every other ROM I've tried either doesn't have the option to split, or does have the option, but it doesn't do anything.
I've searched the forums and could only find themed mms.apks to use. It looks like a few others are looking for a solution to this as well. Has someone posted on this before? If so, please send me in the right direction.
First off it works on codename and it works on markVis's super charged roms, and this should be in general not development, sometime you have to go to settings in messaging and turn SMS split on

Was on CNA for weeks, and a few different versions at that. It was brought up in the threads there, too. Currently using AOKP right now. Will check out markVis's, so thanks for that suggestion.
In my OP, I was saying that some ROMs have the option, but it doesn't "do anything," meaning that the app will still work as if it wasn't checked in the settings. I've re-wiped, re-flashed, and the whole shibang.
If a moderator can move this thread, that would be cool. I'm still (relatively) new here.
The ones in this thread work fine for me. They're based on the one originally posted in oics.

Is that the stock mms.apk from the rom or from a theme you installed? I haven't used codename but the problem reported by the user is something reported on aokp and being that a lot of roms will use features from others I would suspect other roms could easily have the issue. The only mms that has properly worked for me is the one originally released with oics.

if you were on two different roms and it didnt work on either, then it probably is safe to say its not the rom.
try the link to denverg's mms.apk's they have saved me in the past when i didnt want to mess with the 160split problem. but over the past couple of months, i have been on CNA and AOKP almost exclusively and have not had any problems with split. make sure you dont restore data the next time you flash a rom. flash it and test the split, then restore whatever data and see if that breaks it. that will tell you if its the rom or your data. my 2 cents fwiw
oICS is the only rom I've used where the split actually worked. Its the reason it took me forever and a half to leave that rom lol. I'm a big texter and its annoying as hell not having the split, specially when the option to turn it on is laughing in your face lmao. Btw I'm as well on AOKP b28 and would love to see this actually work.

I saw these earlier, but thought that they were all themed? They all say "Inverted" on the .zip files. Do I just download the ones that say "Stock", too? And GI or BI (wut?).
They are all inverted. Probably the only place to find the white background would be in the oics thread by aosp. Gi or bi just indicates the color of the icon. Green or blue.

That wasn't what he was implying, for me it's worked on every Rom I've used except for one, and I'm a flashaholic I flash a lot of roms , it could simply be an issue of not doing a full wipe or something
Thought I'd mention split also broke for me on aokp, option is there but no dice. Worked like a charm in oICS..

Just for small talk, other than WiFi calling not working, what are your thoughts? Is this worth flashing for now?
Browser is not responding, phone just vibrates when trying to load a site. That's why it's a leak I guess, thanks for uploading so we could see what's it's about

Okay first experiences, the shell chokes up and gains super user access for some reason, i didn't lose root, it's slow until you disable hw under developer options, Wi-Fi calling is of course a no go, i don't use it. Bloat it's installed remove at your own discretion. It is very snappy for being only half done. Haven't had any Wi-Fi issues nor have i had the call echo. No four way reboot so haven't tested recovery, i flashed via cwmtr. That's all i can think of, ask me and i will answer. I see this as being daily driver capable.
Edit: the stock browser is borked, the video player works fine for me. Some times the play store freezes up for me. I'm going to try and install newest.apk

Checking back in. I can pretty much confirm all of this. I don't care about WiFi calling. Browser is broken here too, but Chrome works just fine (so far). This is pretty promising, to be honest.
I really like the blend of JB and TouchWiz. Samsung did it right and I'm impressed. I'll be staying on this, at least for all of tomorrow, to test battery life. If it's even close to what it was on FreeGS3, I'll stick with it til we see some custom goodness.
Thanks, Wildchild. You made my night! Gonna share the news on OMG!Droid, as well.
Can someone post just the modem alone?

I am not real familiar with beats audio, even though I have seen many ROMS that list it as included. Does it have any benefits to install a clean and working version of beats audio?
Sorry, not trying to hijack thread, but might as well ask if it has any upsides.
There are better audio improvement hacks and apps out there.
Look/search through the themes and apps section here and also in the Android Development Forum (the main one, not this one).

I had the exact same problem with the echo. Damn it was annoying too. I deleted it and reinstalleď the Rom and it went away so it def was the app. I am on T-Mobile s3 now and I won't dare download it again. Not sure if it's limited to Sprint s3 or not but I don't intend to find out

There are many mods you can find on the forums that affects sound quality like the AC!D soundmod, viper, etc. I'd recommend you check those out before installing something off the playstore.
