I previously owned a Motorola Atrix with all the bells and whistles. I had a ton of music on the SD card synced and converted by windows media player to the rate I wanted. I copied all these files onto my sd card for my new LG Nitro and the media scan hangs.
I did a search and found an app that solved some peoples issue... Rescan Media Root...
This stopped the media scan but none of the apps that use the sd card would work. My media player didnt find music, my gallery wouldnt load, my camera wouldnt take pictures....
I have noticed some MP3 files play and media scan works fine but some others dont....
Has anyone resolved this?
Thanks!!!!

hey guys
a total noob question . i got micro SD card for the TP2 and put the music in there using the device center ( using the sync function to put the music in the micro SD card). all the music files shows in the media player on the cell phone and runs too, but i can get anything on the Music Tab of th TouchFlow its saying No Music Found
am i missing something or doing something wrong :S
Did You perform a soft reset?
My experience of loading up 3 gig's worth of music onto the microSD card in my Kaiser (I use the stock WMplayer btw) was that NOTHING showed up in media player until I had manually updated the players library. Once that had been done, all songs could then be selected or indeed played with the player or using MSVC for 'ooohs' from friends. I would guess theres a similar library/scanning function in the HTC supplied media player if you use that, but dont have a clue where!
hope this helps

i'm having the same problem. only 3 albums out of 50 or so appear in the tf3d tab even though all are in the windows media app
hmm, i think i mightve figured it out. the tab only shows whats "currently playing," ie the current playlist. all of my songs show up when i touch "library." i think i'll be trying out some other media players, this is kind of cumbersome
Touch Pro 2/Tilt 2 with AT&T: I get a LOT of crashes, followed by the "white page of death" (the offer to send the error report to Microsoft). This happens in a variety of music players except of course Windows Media Player. Most of the time, it seems to happen when I'm browsing songs by directory; I store my mp3 media on a storage card.
Any thoughts or anyone have similar issues? I suspect it's because some things just aren't ready for WM 6.5 but wanted to poll the experts on here.
I have the stock AT&T rom minus the crap (CrapScraper), and some registry tweaks from this site for network speed enhancement and a couple minor things.
I've had no such trouble, but just for giggles, see if you have the same poblems playing files from the internal memory. I have a car stereo that can play files from USB media, and it would disconnect and crash back to the main menu when it came across problems with the SD filesystem.
I also have the same problem here.
All the players crash except for "Windows Media Player".
I still have the stock rom and i've tryed with a SD-Card of 4GB and also with one of 16GB.
I've get the most stable results after i deleted all the "AlbumArt" files, but it didn't solve the problem.
P.S.: i've also tryed formating the storage card!
I use PocketMusic and have used it for years. Works perfect for me - and works the way I do: I have my music divided up by folder to segment my variety of musical tastes. If you use WinAmp, this will feel just about the same (in fact, it uses a ton of WinAmp skins in WinAmp mode).
It does all the usual playlists too, so you can just play using those.

I've tried iSyncr (both USB and Wifi) and DoubleTwist and they both mess up. iSyncr syncs it all then says file doesn't exist. WTH!! Is there a better way. For some weird reason after I use double twist and properly eject my SD card and unmount the phone it 9 out of 10 times damages my SD card then I have to re-format.
Getting kinda pissed.
it happens to me also on i9100... until today i can not resolve this issue.... as for double twist you need to use double twist player.
there another app call EASY PHONE TRANSFER. which i tried works.. on iTunes to any music player except for stock music player.
but both SyncR and Easy phone transfer works on Galaxy note.
If it's any help, I use itunes agent to sync my SGS2 with itunes. Works well for me with the stock player.
Having just googled itunes agent, it seems its changed its name to notpod! Can't yet comment if it's changed or not.
Good luck.
isyncr works perfectly for me
I have about 10 gigs of music on my external 32gb memory card. every single music app i have tried only recognizes some of the music files. I can view the rest of the music using a file manager. I can even play single songs that dont come up in the music player. I used the same memory card in my old mytouch 4g and all the music was recognized.
Is there a way to play whole folders of songs from a file manager?
Could the problem be that the music files are in too many subfolders?

Try Poweramp from the market and you will see everything. It gives you the option to select which folders you want to view and it is a great player.
If you do not like this option, try installing Kies in your pc and use it to move files off the pc to the external card. According to the manual, this should let the Samsung music player see the files. I have not tried this yet, so no promises. You can dl the pdf manual from the Samsung site under the support for the N2.
Upload music to Google play if you wish, therefore playable via google music manager app.

Is it from iTunes? Is it drm restricted?
Hi. I was watching a TV show avi file on my stock GPad stored on a 128GB class 10 Sandisk, when suddenly it stopped working and said something like "Cannot play this video" which was strange as it had played the previous episodes and half of that episode fine. I was using MX Player so thought I'd try the stock video player and it couldn't load the files either. I tried some other files both avi and mkv and no luck either. Then I loaded the video files onto the internal memory and they play fine so its not a problem with the files or the media players. Also all my music and photos that are stored on the SD card play back fine. So why did video files stop working? Anybody else have this issue?

Yes i have this exact same problem put movies on sd card to watch on flights you watch half way then stops so now only put on device memory and same as you no problems one way is to store on sd card then transfer to device memory to play.all this i suspect is the kit kat update
Try installing the sd card monitor app and see if you are getting a bad removal about the time that the playback problem happens. See the following thread:
