FYI beta 11 crashes on my phone. I use senzation rom and it has the sprint hotspot cracked so no need for wifi tether. However you don't have have a rom with a cracked hotspot that is the way to go.

Thanks alote. I rememeber seeing this app in the market a while back but im guessing they took it down.

Requires root, though. I take it that's the norm for tethers that won't reveal to Sprint you're tethering?

Does the sprint hotspot allow tethering of 4g too? I remember only being able to tether 3g with hotspot on my evo 3d.

Try FoxFI...so far working flawlessly allowing me to tether my Kindle Fire to my Epic Touch 4g. I've not tried it on a laptop. FYI, I'm rooted on stock ROM.
wait a minute, if your on blazer 4.0 such as your op states then just open your app drawer, click the sprint hotspot icon and enjoy. just throwing that out there.

Yeah. That's what I was going to say. If you run into a problem with it, get the deodexed EL29 modded hot spot and flash in recovery. If you have stock rooted EL29 then get the odexed EL29 hot spot mod flash. There was one from that said it had the mod but it didn't work when I tried it. I got the appropriate zip and flashed it and that fixed it. Even if you run the app and its not modded, you can't tether until you call sprint and they turn it on for your account. The hot spot mod is the preferred tether method because its infrastructure mode, which is the most compatible with other wifi things.
Didn't realize Blazer had the hacked hot spot, now I can tether to my Nook Tablet
With Blazer 4.0 the hotspot is already cracked so theres no need to flash anything or change anything for it. I personally use wifi tether. You can set access control and all that good stuff.
This post has worked great for me.

Calk's Stock Rooted FC14
So, I just went from Stock Rooted EL29 GB to Stock Rooted FC14 ICS, last time I tried that app, only 2.0.6 was working, Gonna try out 3.0.11, anyone else on FC14?

I'm not sure, but I would flash a rooted stock rom for him and then have him download the free wireless tether app from the Market.
The only one I like is "wireless tether for root users" and it doesn't work on the evo..

Yes, it does. I've used that app as my primary internet source when I lived in North Carolina last year ad earlier this year and I have an EVO 4G and was using it with the Wireless Tether app.

Sense. On AOSP, I cannot get it to work with Gingerbread. There is a workaround but I have never tried it.
Ok ill give it a go. Haven't tried it with sense. I used it on my hero for months running cm7 with no problems but no dice with the evo. I even contacted Mueller and downloaded the latest version from Google code..

I believe you need a kernal which allows WT, try Lithids HTC Evo 4G Freedom-v0.9 Kernel Universal. Download WT right from Google on your phone.

I spent an hour messing with the internet setting of my 2 PC's trying to get them to surf. Then desided to do a search and found this post.
Thank you!!
You actually don't need a custom kernel.....
The hotspot hack works natively once you hack framework.jar.
And the wireless tether app only requires superuser permissions to work.

hey guys ive been trying to get my hotspot to work on this phone its new to me im coming from an evo 4g i had everything working great with the evo but my e4gt just doesnt want to allow me to tether for some reason. im running blazer rom and when i try to activate the hotspot i get an error message the same happens with caulkins rom also i have been unable to get any version of wifi tether to work either my question is why my kernel is ek02 does this kernel not support the hacked hotspot? i appreciate any help i can get with this.
I'm not sure about wifi tether but why not use the hacked sprint hotspots app? That would work.

This phone does AD-hoc and not infrastructure..... Evo did infrastructure but hardly any new phones do now.... If you want to connect via infrastructure you will have to use hacked sprint hotspot

There's no message it says error in the little checkbox when you try to turn it in and then it turns back off

You usually get that error when you are on stock and have not signed up for Hotspot service. Are you sure you are on a Custom Rom?
And Sprint Hotspot is infrastructure mode
I had that problem numerous times...I had to redownload the rom. You have a corrupted download. Hope that helps.

The built-in tethering works fine for me. I guess since Verizon hasn't touched this ROM the hotspot works as Google intended.

You have to sign up for hot spot to be able to use it. If you haven't added this to plan, it won't work. Therefore, its free.

I have tried using the built in hotspot, and my iPod seems to connect to it (puts a check mark), but it never gets the signal bars in the status bar, and doesn't actually gets internet.
I have also tried the newest version of wifi tether, beta 14 from their website, but it won't even show up as a network using that.
Does anyone know of a way to get wifi tether to work on jelly bean?
Sent from my Verizon Galaxy Nexus running Jelly Bean via Xparent Cyan Tapatalk 2
The built in Wi-Fi hotspot works well for me. JB v3 with Franco 217. 4G on with WPA2 security to Windows 7 on my MacBook. All sorts of things running unintended software, and it all works like a charm. =)
Edit: VZW Galaxy Nexus
Edit2: I don't pay for tethering, but it shouldn't matter, as I'm data-capped either way.

Hmm, maybe it's an issue with the rom I am on, or the kernel it has. I am running on vanir v5, and it has a 3.0.31 popcorn kernel.

i had problems before getting redirected to tmobile's site while tethering with my laptop, all i had to do was download a user agent switcher addon for firefox and changed it to a mobile device and it worked again. seems they block regular http connections only. https will work fine without switching the user agent. only downside to changing the user agent is all the sites will load as the mobile versions which can get annoying at times.
then again this was back in november so it might be different now? haven't had to use it since then..
