[Q] Clockwork flashable stock Rom/Kernel etc. - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So, for whatever reason, my USB connecting ability stopped working on my T989 a couple weeks back and I've given up trying to get it working. I tried multiple Roms, multiple cables, confirmed it with a side by side connection attempt with another sgs2 in hand, nothing has worked.
As if that isn't annoying enough, I need to return it for warranty exchange but can't use Odin to flash the files I've been able to find in the stock threads.
My question: Does anyone know of a completely stock Rom/Kernel I can flash using Clorkwork Rom Manager? Is it even possible that way?

So I've tried connecting my phone to several computers and they all end up saying that the device is not recognized. Because of this, I can't even odin my phone to stock or anything else. So I can't exactly call sprint or samsung about it. It was working fine up until just now. Any suggestions? Thanks.
Did you download the Samsung driver ?
Simply AOSP 3.1.1

Yes, sounds like your data cable is going bad. Grab another one. Palm Pre or Blackberry has heavy duty cables. Heard there was a good one for $2 on Amazon. Get fresh drivers from Samsung's site or from here:

Hope this helps.
Yea I've gotten the right drivers. Right now, I'm in the process of doing root and flashing roms without a computer... using rom manager. Maybe a new rom will fix it. I'm going to order a new data cable and hope that will work.

I've tried 4 different cables on multiple computers. Mine says USB not recognized as well. How do you root and flash roms with rom manager???
Hey man, same thing was happening to me, I ended up bricking my epic with the stock cord, but I grabbed my brothers evo cord, and worked first try, dump the stock cable definitely.

I used this method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1062395
Also, instead of using cwm 2.x, you can go the development forum and get the new cwm and flash that instead, just make the necessary adjustments (i.e. when flashing using ROM manager, tap 3.x instead of 2.x etc. etc.)
I am now running gingerbread on here. And I am going to try a new cable that I ordered later this week.

Device is soft bricked. Can get into download. What next?

I was running the ICS leaked release and decided to try another ROM. I think my mistake was that I didn't flash a custom recovery like Rogue's and just threw the ROM on my SD, went into the stock recovery that came with the ICS leaked ROM, ran Calkulin's wipe and flashed the ROM.
The phone won't boot up. I can get into Download Mode but I don't know where I can download a stock tar to flash in ODIN 1.85. If I try and go to the stock recovery it doesn't work.
Any help would be appreciated.
***EDIT***
It's still stuck at the data.img portion of the process (end process). It's probably not going far from there.
I can't get into the stock recovery but it does allow the download mode still.

Then use autoroot to get cwm back.

I tried that earlier and it didn't work. I deleted all the files and will try it again. When I tried the steps it just hung at waiting for connection or something to that effect.

That really sound like you don't have the drivers quite right. When you open the regular odin, and your phone is in download mode, does a yellow box on odin show up? If not its the drivers.

Then the one click should work just fine. Make sure you follow his instructions to the T. Also on his page he has some drivers, you should install those, it uninstall or over write the old ones. Just to be sure.

Thanks. It looks like it's working now. It's installing right now and then we shall see but I'm pretty sure it'll work. I'll leave it stock for now until ICS comes out. I'm so buy working on my new car that I barely have time to geek out anymore on my phone.
Don't try to flash anything with stock recovery ...it has to be officially signed by Samsung ...won't work

It didn't work. Last night I went to run the EL29 Restore - Rooted and it got stuck on the data.img portion. The progress bar on the phone and computer just hung there. I disconnected the cable and went to bed (after 1.5 hours of it just sitting there stuck).
I'm trying it again today and lets see if it gets stuck.
I'm reflashing EL29 over the FB21 (w/e the leaked version of ICS was) I had. Is that the issue?
Sorry but I think your bricked. There is a "Stuck at Data.img" thread here in q&a.
The issue still isn't repairable.
The way you went about getting stuck here is a little different tho. So hopefully I'm wrong.
Good luck
Are you stuck in a bootloop? If so, do you get any further than the Samsung splash screen?
Try re-flashing the ICS leak. I read somewhere that it could be a filesystem issue with switching to and from GB. If that doesn't work, maybe you'll have better luck with using ODIN as opposed to the one-click method. You'll find the tars here-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1391732
In most cases you'll be flashing them in PDA, but read everything closely, and follow the steps.
If you have insurance, I almost suggest going to Sprint while it still seems there's no evidence you've been flashing (yellow triangle), as they'll likely just replace it for you.
If none of that works, then it sounds like a rare problem that happened to mine a few months ago. This was the only thread I found at that time, but it was for AT&T's GSII.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=20834412#post20834412
I ended up getting a new one, but I would love to finally find a solution since I still have it. Pretty much the only thing I haven't tried is a JTAG service.

I'm reading it now. I want to add that it was CWM touch that messed up my phone because I had flashed that before attempting to flash another ROM since ICS build came with the default factory recovery. So I'm guessing my file system is corrupt. I'll keep reading through the thread. (I skipped to the last couple of pages.
Hey so can you still get into download mode? I ran into the same problem where it kept getting stuck in odin. Try a different usb cable and a different port. Odin is very fussy with usb cables. When I had the trouble I was using a Logitech usb cable. Switched to the one that came with my phone and it worked like a charm.

I didnt think it was possible that a simple cable swap would help me when I was in the exact same position as you either but it sure did. What could it hurt to just try a different cable? I am sure you could borrow one from a friend just to try it. According to qbking77 samsung cables are pretty bad when it comes to using odin.

Hardware ID Missing after rooting......

Hello.
I used the Toolkit to root my Note 2, and I had to use option 4 on the rooting menu, Install Custom Recovery, Install via Recovery to get it to work. I tried several times via the Odin tool and Twrp recovery, and the phone kept booting into Android Recovery instead of Twrp recovery.
I finally used Odin to flash back to stock ROM that I got here, but, along the way, even though the Toolkit was able to connect to my Note 2, I get the Hardware ID missing, and I cannot connect to it any longer like I could after I installed the initial drivers.
Anything I can do and stay rooted?
Change usb ports or restart your device. Mine did it last night and I fixed it by doing both..
I have the same problem.
Changing ports and restarting in most cases didn't help and only in few cases I managed to access files on the phone via USB.
Any other suggestion how to solve this?
don't use windows..

I was able to gain root back using the toolkit. I flashed stock rom image I believe the ROM from the factory then flashed back stock recovery. Went back in after I updated and re-rooted to flash the triangle away. Now I need to unroot and after speaking with Sprint Rep on phone and trying a few things they advised me to take it to store to let them try it. I believe ALL of my problems started when I tried to use Mobile Odin Pro to flash the latest update to LJC (should I have been on stock recovery?). It started to flash then stopped and went into CWM recovery which is the recovery that the toolkit flashed. I for some strange reason was going to flash the update from there except I didn't have it in the right place on my sd card (couldn't access it GOD I'm a Dumbass!). God help me cause I'm too stupid to even understand what side loading is let alone how to do it. If some kind soul would take pity on me and pm me I could get a handle on the differences between HTC and Samsung. Anyway need to unroot now. Oh I keep seeing in the flash counter saying 1 but I'm on stock rom with stock kernel and stock recovery how do I get it to zero. Using triangle away. Anyway to check counter with stock recovery?
OH yeah does anyone keep getting "Internal Error Code 1500" in addition to the hardware id is missing?
Thanks to everyone that takes time to help idiots like me. I promise I CAN learn.

I don't remember link. I googled so you might try that way.
Just FYI, even with older drivers I have sporadic Hardware ID Missing error, but far too less than with the latest version.
I'm posting this to keep it to the top of this board.
This is my second Note 2 in 2 weeks. I returned the first one because it stated Hardware ID missing, so within my first 2 weeks Sprint gave me a new one thinking that it was my phone. While at the Sprint store, and not yet rooted, we installed the unit and removed the unit 15 times to see if we could get it to have the Missing Hardware ID to pop up, it DIDN'T pop up once, so I thought I was good to go.
I came home and did the common root method that uses Galaxy Note 2 Toolbox. I IMMEDIATELY started getting the Missing Hardware ID again.
So now that we have it localized, what could be missing or creating a problem from the root procedure from the Galaxy Note Toolbox 2???
What I find really strange is that many are not experiencing this problem or they are just living with it.
I even tried the USB Switcher that appeared to install and does switch between Mass Storage and MTP, but although my PC makes the upward noise that sounds like it is installing and recognizing the USB Mass Storage, it doesn't end up recognizing it. It was ZATTA's build but he said it didn't work for his Galaxy 3 or Note 2 either.
Will anyone find a cure????
This will be no fun to have to deal with for the next 2 years.
Chime in PLEASE!!!!!! Even if it's only to insult me, I don't care if you have a cure.
Regards
Dave
if you do Google search, it's a known issue. From what I read, it's a driver issue. Some have had luck using the older Samsung USB drivers. You have downloand them, and install, and have your PC completely disconnected from the internet before plugging in your GN2 after the install. Appaarently the drivers on Microsoft's servers are bad; may be the wrong device.
I've done this, and still have the issue. I just find I don't have plug and unplug the USB cable as much.
What I have seen, the PC does connect to the GN2. It just doesn't recognize it as a storage device. It wants to use it as a modem, probably from the tethering capabilities with a USB OTG cable.
It may not be so much that it's not wide spread, but more that not everyone uses the GN2 as storage device or connects it their PC.
I dont think this is all due to Windows issue. This is what i notice before and after root.
If you have restore to Original Stock ROM, you will notice that your device doesnt encounter this issue.
If you have rooted your device Custom ROM or Flash CMW (this resulted as Binary Counter increased), you would have Hardware Missing Id issue. Somehow the MTP is not working.
If you have Flash your device with a pre rooted stock rom, there is no issue at all until you flash CMW where flashing increase counter.
How i notice this, i have root/unroot my device like 20 times since i got my device.
The issue is here is more of where Binary Counter Increase, in Windows 7 you would face Hardware ID Missing issue. Restart and connect to other USB port will not work.
Some how we need to no let the Binary Counter changed and Triangle Away is only useful if you want to return you device to original state.

Yep I think you may be on to something. Because when I rooted I tried both TWRP and CWM and then I had to go back to stock to get to apply the LJC update. Ever since I have had the chameleon error and Handsfree activation issues. Oh my counter always says 1 and I can't remove it with triangle away. I think it says custom binary yes and the counter says 1. I am using a laptop with Windows 7 and it now recognizes the device just can't stop the errors on start up.

[Q] Major Woes After Attempts at Installing Custom ROM

So, I had a rooted, stock install of ICS (FF18) as well as AGAT. I decided I wanted to try out Cyanogen, so after trying unsuccessfully for a number of hours, I discovered Resurrection Remix, installed it, and it was working great. Only problem is, I had no base band and could not connect to my cell network or use WiFi. I tried installing it a few more times with different modems and none worked, so I flashed back to FF18 and got that all set back up. I read somewhere that you should try using a stock JB install before installing RR, so I flashed a JB ROM, and had the same issues with no working modem/baseband. So now I decided to just give up and go back to ICS, but I'm having an issue doing that. My USB does not function at all. It charges, but does not show up on my computer, nor can I ODIN it. I've tried all the tricks on here (Re-installing drivers, different cable/computer, *#7284) and it still will not work. I can't exactly reflash it without ODIN or CWM, and am at a loss as to what to do. Thanks for any help.
I should mention that this JB ROM is rooted, but I can't seem to access anything on my SD card, so transferring files seems to be out of the question.
I'm not familiar with this resurrection remix rom. I did a quick google search and it appears to be for other versions of galaxy s2. You cant use a rom from any other model device with Epic 4g Touch. Im amazed it booted.
Exactly what JB rom are you running? There is always bluetooth to transfer files and mobile odin to flash a new kernel.
oh no. the s2 is NOT the epic 4g touch!
You can try to use mobile odin to reflash a epic 4g touch rom. Cyanogenmod would work fine if you used the rom for your phone located on xda and not on the get.cm site...

I would do that but I have no other Bluetooth devices to transfer with (Excapt maybe I can borrow a friend's iPhone) and for whatever reason it's not mounting the SD card. I'm thinking the USB drive simply died, because the first few times I booted into the RR rom, everything worked, other than the radio of course.

That was the plan, but like I said, I can't seem to mount an SD card either. Is there any way of getting files on there at this point other than bluetooth? I know I have root and I've got the FF18 Odin rom still, so I guess all I really need is a way to get that and Mobile Odin on there, which is of course, the real problem here.
EDIT: I should also mention that CWM is no longer on there since it's a stock ROM. All I have is root.
your options are wifi, usb, sdcard, bluetooth, 3g... so if none are working then just bluetooth which will be challenging in itself. I think you'll neef to rename the files to things like .jpeg for bluetooth to transfer them. good luck.

Yes, however, it won't connect to Odin, which leads me to believe the USB is simply fried. It was being a bit unstable all week now that I think about it.
Also Bluetooth didn't work. I guess that part is borked as well.

Possibly done then. By flashing a Rom that was not for the phone, it's looking in the wrong place for the usb.
if you can get the files on your phone (mobile odin, mobile odin kernel flasher, a e4gt rom) you may be able to fix it... but you have to either get them on there or have a working usb to use pc odin.
also try a different usb cable and usb ports on the pc.
if all else fails your sending it off for jtag.

screen. It doesn't even go to that, all it does is boots into recovery. I don't want to send it out for repairs (Mostly because I am broke).
If also, may I get answers from people that own one and been in this problem before and/or people that know how to repair this issue.
Also, I can only use the Stock Recovery.
Thanks, Nysean01'
Edit: I have also been to this. It was no help what so ever and got me deeper to this point in the post.
Edit 2: I have a backup phone and that one is currently working. I still wanna keep using my newer one.

Nope. It says in red, FAIL.
then i would guess that the file is currupt, or maybe the cable is dodge...

I was running the latest version of everything. 7.0 for phone, 10 for computer, and a mod odin.
Try a different Odin package, an older stock ROM and a different cable.
Which ones would you recommend?
Odin 3.12.4 and PI2, that is the earliest on BL2, try that, and if it works you should be able to OTA back up.
Mark as closed. I took it to the store, and even they said that they cant do nothing about it. So, Since I had the warranty (didn't know, was a hand me down), Samsung is sending me a new phone.
I have the same problem, got stuck on Nand writel. Already try different odin versions, I was on the last stock room, the problem was that I heva virus and had to do a hard reset, but when I finish got stuck on google verification, after try a lot of times I decided to fls stock room, but I fail.
What I can do it?
