I am comming from a ICS rom as it is not that stable and i am looking into sense 3.5 roms. Im wondering which is better because i hear that the revolution misses texts but the affinity also has terrible battery life. Also is the virtuous tweaks in affinity make it better? Thanks

Stability I would go for affinity but my dd is now revolution =] coz revolution is almost lag free in homescreen scrolling thx to full gpu rendering..and idk y revolution have only left 56mb system space..while affinity is 114mb... (not be confuse by internal space, this is what I saw in 4ext recovery)

would the smooth sense mod for revolution work on affinity?
Im on revolution as a dd and never once have i lost a sms on any rom.

Affinity!
I've used both, and they are both awesome!
If I had to choose, it would be the one I find myself using more, which is Virtuous Affinity. To get it to perform how I want it to, however, I have the following settings:
-Swap (256 I believe?)
-Ultrasmooth Rosie (in the virtuous tweeks)
-3d widgets flattened (i believe also in virtuous tweeks?)
only 3 homescreen panels
-Supercharger 5 (multi-tasking), 6 (balanced), or 7 (aggressive). The powershifting/widgets make it easy to switch.
-Supercharger's Engine Flush & also Cachemate running every 6 hours
-SetCPU as either ondemand, interactive, or savagedzen at 1459.
Not going to lie, my battery life isn't awesome, but it last as long as I need it to, but it's the best experience with Sense I've had thus far.
how long is your battery life on moderate use?
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201 using XDA Premium App
Not 100% sure at the moment, as I usually charge at certain times during the day, but I'll let it run down and let you know later on
^ almost same kind of settings, but 1.2 ghz on demand.
Based on same use, everyday.
With affinity :
- Morning 100% : going school with the subway ( exactly 30 min + 10 min walking )
30 minutes of video, and 10 minutes of music.
- School : boring classes of 3h ( I use my phone about 1h x2 courses).
- lunch time : use my phone about 15 minutes while talking to my friends.
- Go back home ( 30 minutes vid + 10 minutes music).
-email while watching tv (1h30)
Day starts for the desire z at 7am ends at 9 pm
25-30% most of the time left. For 4h30 +/- (with talk time+sms) of heavy use (game/vid/surfing), not bad.
With Revolution HD, add easily 10% on the battery.
Based on:
- 1 month with affinity
- almost 3 weeks with revolution
During my internship, no playing, no surfing, no nothing , only calls and sms = about 3 days with unity. Galelio 2000 battery.
I like the revolution myself. I never had one time where Rosie had to repaid into memory from being killed by low ram situation. Just my opinion.

Gday,
Just wondering If I could get some round about figures from you guys that are using combinations with latest 5.x Coredroid Roms and radios on what your general battery life has been like.
I ask for round about figures e.g. percentage of battery decrease per 30 mins on dependence of phone usage because I realize how much battery life can be affected by many different variables.
My setup is:
ROM - CoreDroid HD 5.3 (full wiped and non-titanium app install)
Radio - Radio_12.48.60.23U_26.08.04.07_M3 (Given 2 days to take effect and so far best 1 I've used)
Auto Brightness
Have gone back and forth between live wallpaper and wallpaper but didnt notice much change
Screen animations all on
I'm now in the process of the battery calibration found on Hemorrdroids.net. I was getting about 5-10% battery drop per 30 mins with mobile network on, auto sync on and moderate usage (mainly browsing xda and web + facebook and emails).
So I thought I'd give the battery calibration ago just to see if I can limit the drain a little bit more.
So any other figures provided would just help me to work out if Im on par and Im definitely getting the most out of my battery
With my desire hd with the 12.48 radio and cm7 it takes much less than with core droid 5.x i dont know how much less but a lot........

Yeah I've heard that about CM, I guess you can put that down down to the drain that htc sense causes.
I would switch to a non-sense rom such as cm7, But I still prefer some features of sense.
I guess I have to make a bit of a sacrifice to get those features

I prefer a few sense widgets like the friendstream
why don't you try mikes revolution rom, its with android 2.3.3 and sense 2.1?

Yeah I did and I found I was getting fairly similar battery life with coredroid, So i decided to stick with coredroid because I prefer the visuals and the performance seemed very similar for me as well
Oh ;-)
Then try an alternative launcher on cm7 like spb mobile Shell ;-)

Try these!
First, You need to turn of auto sync, just back up or sync by manual.
Second, Remove account of HTC facebook. It's always sync therefore it drain battery fast.

Turned off auto sync a couple of hours ago after my battery calibration because I knew it was a contributing factor haha cant believe I had it on.
Am yet to remove my facebook account because I dont no if I can do without that synced haha .
It probably would be wise to only update manually
I use extended controls (might also be possible with widgetsoid) to quickly switch to GSM only when I'm not using my phone out in the wild. That and turning data off when you don't need it (easily done from notification settings screen) will save a hell of a lot of battery over using 3G/auto with data on.
extended controls is a brilliant tool!
It often helps me, too
i think the same.. extended controls are cool for control a good batery drain... and in addition i have WIDGET ON/OF by pedro maicas (android market) for cut the 3g conection
for the flip and clock for example...
Hey xda
I come from cyanogen7 and went for the acesmod rom because I was missing the nice widgets, looks, and overall performance of sense. I have now spend some time on acesmod and I must say that it looks very nice and I especially think that the sense keyboard works a lot better when writing danish.
My problem is now that I find acesmod drinking my battery like crazy. Besides this I find it to be lagging a lot and not that smooth a experience that one could expect.
Do anybody know what I could do about this. Have you guys experiences the same.
Alternatively I am open to other sense based roms.
Thanks xda people!

sense roms do use considerably more battery than cm7 roms, nothing you can really do about it apart from maybe calibrate your battery, theres a thread on here about how to do it
Again, calibration is not to be used to increase battery performance... Disable htc.com sync, use as less widgets and let them sync as rarely as possible. Disable pocket mode too, sign out of Latitude and make sure that your market and maps are not in the foreground when you turn your screen off as they won't release the wakelock then.
I can hear that there is not much I can do. Had every updating things disabled and also got the black wallpaper for power saving.
Are there then any sense based roms you would prefer over acesmod 007?

I have good battery life on 007 mod.... But I have used only sense roms, so I cannot compare it to others.
mine life battery is good, try using andrev_oc
andrev_oc? (This is only my second rom)
see here how to install

hope it helps
edit: with ES File Explorer (in settings tick the root explorer and mount file system) copy the freqs to system/etc/andrev_oc
Interesting... I have tried a few Sense ROMs and was quite dissapointed by the performance, memory consumption and battery life, went to CyanogenMod 7.1 and now tried Acesmod007.
For me, it does everyhing as smooth as cyanogen, and something obviously very strange - the same or maybe even longer battery time. A full day with gmail sync, active gtalk usage, a little browsing, ~25min of calls, messaging... on 2G+3G and (mostly) WiFi. And the battery level is still not very low.
I'm very happy with this
The new 007 mod (v39) has even better battery life!
And the speed...

Thought maybe did something wrong. Switched to Andromadus Audacity Beta 2 for now and its running okay. Thanks for the reply
As suggested by a user @ cm9betathread,
I flashed the tiamat 314 kernel.
To be more specific: I did a full wipe, flashed the cm9beta2, flashed the kernel, flashed the gapps and then set up my phone via titanium.
The battery drain is a tad high, altough that may very well be because my battery's 1.5 yrs old by now. Coming from cm7 (tested andromadus (laggy) and jibwich (okay)), I'd say its about 30% more battery drain using similar settings in everyday circumstances (than cm7).
The performance is very good with the kernel, in drawer or home screen close to zero lags and a snappy performance. I do experience some lags when the system seems to be under heavy load (3g @ ics browser, eg.), which sometimes leads to a complete freeze, forcing me to take out the battery. I don't know if that is because of the kernel or cm9, but I haven't had the time nor the patience to test that.
Dear friends,
I have had some problems with my battery, as you can check here:

I don't know if I have been spoiled by Nokia, because I had a Nokia E72 with a tiny screen a 1500Ah battery (Two days connected with EDGE/Wifi updating Whatsapp and Gravity).
I just need Whatsapp and any Twitter application running al the time.. 3G or HSPDA is not a must, I could live with EDGE for battery saving.
I have tried:
Stock 2.3 ROM
Oxygen COS'ed
CM7 RC1
Minwild 4.9 CM
I don't care about fancy widgets and so... I just want battery life... sometimes I use the screen with 10% brightness!
Please, help me! Help will be highly appreciated.
PD: Moto RZR MAXX is too expensive
PD2: I'm using lastest radio and have not messed with Kernels, always using the one that comes with each ROM.
PD3: Testing is so easy, I wonder if someone have done that before? Install ROM, install whatsapp and twitter, config, fully charge, see it discharge and take the time and try with another ROM, right know I don't have the time, but that's what I want to do...!
Bets regards.
Far as I know those roms aren't exactly power hungry.
ManU kernel is recognized for batter saving.
You can use with MildWild CM version.
For oxygen I think you have to use thalamus kernel.
I'm using Oxygen V4 MildWild with latest thalamus kernel and with normal use (wifi once in a while but usually switched off, some browsing, some phone calls, some texts and even a little game once in a while) it lasts me a full day. If I play too much, the battery can last as three hours (with bat, intensive games).

Which ROM uses ManU kernel? I'd like to try that one.
Right now I'm using Oxygen Cosed with Thalamus (I think)
I dont think there is a rom that uses ManU kernel by default. But as long as a rom is based on CM7 I believe you can replace the default one with ManU.

Not entirely true. Oxygen rom and those that use it as base need to use Thalamus kernel. Using ManU on Oxygen roms for example will break your camera.

What do you mean by breaking the camera? I suppose only software...!
Thanks for letting me know that, I was going to flash ManU kernell with Oxygen Cosed! So I'll flash it over MinWildCM.
There is a lot of reading about roms but not about kernels!

The best rom for battery, performance and stability is none other than GINGER VILLAIN. If you look at the screenshot most of juice is gone into display as I like 100% display. I am sure you can save further battery with switching off wifi, mobile data, gps, vibrations, display etc. But this rom is pretty much beating other rooms. Only problem people find is there are no future updates for this rom. If you looking for above all then go for this rom.
Hit thanks if it helps you.
Cheers

I gave my old desire to my brother because the battery was dying , before I do so, I flashed MUIU rom, it seems fine when he is using it
OxygenMod worked well for me well.

And that would be about 50% correct. The rom does play an important role on battery consuption.
I know you asked about ROMs, but if you dont mind a thicker phone you could also consider an extended battery. I'm using a Cameron Sino 2400MAH battery, cost me £7 from Amazon UK and I get between 30 - 38 hours out of my Desire, depending on use. That's with ICS for Desire by Sandvold installed.
I cant post links yet but take a look at batteryboss.org and it mentions it as being "not a bad deal".
ICS works fine for me
I use the BCM - Ice Cream Sandwich from CM9 Source and it works fine for me. Been up for almost 16 hours with decent usage and pretty poor cell signal the whole time.
The lowest battery drain I've had was using Mildwild's Oxygen Based. Nearly 2 days of battery with pretty decent usage. See the attachments below: you might found them a bit dark cause they were made with screen filter at 50%.
- During night, phone had 2G (GPRS).
- Screen on-time: 3 hours, above 50% usage.
- Always with WiFi or HDSPA (3G) excepts during nights.
With battery perfectly calibrated (it shutdowns at 0%).
HI if i dont care for other stuff other then battery.
What rom/os is the one that i need?
Installed a cm 10.1 it sucked the hell out the battery.
Thnx
Try that one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1683638
If you want lasting battery but dont want official samsung rom, you need to go for something like cm 7.2 (gingerbread) and disable background data, not ics, jellybean and such, which are still bugged for gio, although on the right path.. you can force them to suck less juice by disabling services and get good battery too, but for now its better to stick with a 7.2 variant with improved graphics and themes jellybean-like.
with background data disabled the good part is that i can get 4 days of moderate usage with some 1-2 hours screen on during this time...the bad thing is that you get no notifications for new mails and stuff, so not much of a "smartphone" .. current rom cm 7.2 based lasts me 2 days with background data on.. for such a low end phone is satisfactory
Install enhanced2.3.6!!
just try aurora rom 3
Thnx everybody will try em out.
tried cm 7.2 - now my battery lasts 1 day, which is sad. Will try to reflash, no facebok and disable background update as mentioned above. Thanks!
The best keeps the battery is: CyanogenMod 7.2 and CyanMobile X ^^
