[Q] - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

XDA team,
Great thanks for all the work you are doing.
Until now there was no need to add a post because everything was working just fine.
I have a problem flashing a custom rom on my Galaxy Nexus. I used the root toolkit tu root the GN and that worked just fine.
When i trying to install custom firmware some of them installs without problems but other customs give an error (status 7) when trying to install it from recovery mode.
I have found multiple threats for this issue but i just not seem to find the right solution. I did everything by the book and i think it should work just fine but it doesn't.
Hope someone can help me with this isseu.
thnx in advance.

Status 7 errors are when you try to flash a rom that is not for your device. Only ever flash stuff that is specifically for your device. Flashing a rom is unlikely to do any harm but if you tried to flash a bootloader or radio from another device you are very likely to get in trouble.
If you have a GSM Galaxy Nexus get your roms from here and if you have a CDMA Galaxy Nexus get the then from here

[Q] Flashsing Stock Rom (GSM) Please?

Hi All,
I'm still fairly new to flashing roms on Android devices. I have recently had a HTC Desire which I had rooted and used CWR and their Rom which i had a fair amount of success.
I've since upgrade to the Galaxy Nexus which I am loving though I have a couple small issues.
-The volume bug, fixed using Volume Booster or Volume+.
-Unable to play music in car stereo. Have any Roms given Mass Storage access?
-But my main issue is my Phone is from Telstra Australia is uses yakjudv and will not be updated by google Nexus?
I would like to flash a stock rom that will be updated by google.
I have searched around but most people are using custom roms and such.
Stock Roms

Excellent Guide

A bit more revalent

but pages are not in english.
Unless anyone can tell me there is a Rom with Storage access and better volume I would like to flash stock rom that will be updated by google OTA.
Can someone please give me some briefs steps on flashing a stock rom to my Nexus please? I am wanting to follow the guide by "mskip" who looks to have done an awesome job but believe mosts steps are for custom roms.
Thankyou in advance!
vtr
The steps for flashing a custom rom and stock are the same.
As far as volume, there is no fix unless you get into flashing custom roms from what I've seen so far (no stock fix other than volume+)
Just remember to follow any flashing guide closely, very easy for things to go wrong
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus Bugless Beast 4.0.3 lte +franco#5
Thankyou for your reply.
I ended up using Odin and flashed 4.0.1 yakju official from the samsung.de site. I used MoreLocale 2 to add AU as required.
I then got interested in loading official 4.0.2 yakju rom. I unlocked the boot loader and flashed CWR using Toolkit 2.0 (kudo's again it is put together impressive).
Using CWR I have now flashed Team Kang 4.0.3 which appears to run great and has AU already built in. Though I do not notice any improvements to volume or SC card access
My next steps are to either find a package of stock official 4.0.2 for use with CWR or detetermine how to flash this using fastboot alone.
Thanks

Stuck in wrong build??

Several months ago I purchased the nexus 7 2013 wifi version. In my tiredness after a long day I unlocked, rooted then flashed a custom rom (aokp) my build numbers is KVT49L instead of KVT49H. I must have flashed the LTE version in error.
I'm trying to upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4. Wugfresh toolkit doesn't work, also unfathomables tool won't work either.
I have been rooting, swapping kernels, unlocking bootloaders and flashing custom since the Droid x days.
I assume I need to use ADB? I am having a hard time finding specific instructions on how to complete this minor upgrade to 4.4.4. In afraid to try anything being on the build for a different version of my device.
any suggestions are appreciated.
I apologize in advance if I left out any critical info regarding my situation.
Edit:
Also are the tool kits not working because I'm on the incorrect build?
K... so, does anyone have any thoughts about just flashing KVT49H rom over what I have?

Why isn't the toolkit working with flash stock and unroot? You should be able to select the option that says it is in a boot loop... And for current version, you can select anything you want - that is what it will flash when you do the flash stock and unroot.
If that doesn't work, where specifically does it fail?
Mike
It goes into bootloader mode and does not come out. Toolkits worked fine on N7 v1. I am attempting to un root and revert to stock.

Toolkit works on v2 as well. When you do the flash stock and unroot, you have to select the option that says your phone is soft bricked.
If that doesn't work, when you are in the bootloader, are you at least able to use the volume buttons and power to select recovery?
Thanks Mike, I'm going to try that

Soft brick option did the trick!! I was also able to restore to KOT49H. Thanks my friend

Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) Ugrade to Custom ROM not recognized

Hi guys,
Newbie here, please be kind with me. I have my step son's Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II (SGH-T679) from T-Mobile and want to install any stock or custom ROM since he has Android v. 2.3.6. The cellphone is rooted and whenever I try using ANY of the custom popular ROMS available, it is NOT recognized when I boot into recovery. The phone has the latest drivers. At times, I can see a zip ROM file but when I click on it to install, it fails because of not having "enough" space. I have ODIN3 installed in a Windows XP virtual environment since I use Linux. If it is rooted, do I need to do anything with the bootloader? Or was this taken care of when I rooted it? Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Hi guys! I solved the issue. SGH-T679 now has CM11 running smoothly. Now I have to go to a place for the phone to be unlocked.; unless anyone knows a sure way to do this with out screwing up the 5 chances to enter the code. LOL!

Worst phone I've ever had to root

Convinced my friend to let me root and ROM his 2.3.6 Tmobile S II. Disaster ensued and with both CWM and TWRP, long story short, i couldn't flash any roms or do anything. Tried CM 10 and CM 11 [for Hercules/T989] on both CWM and TWRP several times and kept getting errors [error 7, error 0 on CWM], and product assert errors on TWRP. Now he's back on stock 2.3.6 with his GPlay market error 492ing and I promised I'd look into it and get him running on 4.0/4.1+. Anyone know why it keeps failing and going wrong? Even my Galaxy Tab 10.1 was easier to root and that could be a nightmare sometimes and I even softbricked it several times.
Best to use Odin to flash the latest 4.1.2 firmware. Make sure everything is working, then proceed from there. There's upgrading guides around... And you may need to use Google to find the firmware, as most links here are dead. Sammobile. Com may have it too. ?
This is actually one of the easiest phones to root, and most Samsung smartphones in general. I bought this phone for myself and my mom, and got my dad a Galaxy S2 Skyrocket (which is pretty much the exact same specs as this phone).
For all three phones, I had to use ODIN. Reverting to stock is painless--just make sure to follow the ODIN guide carefully. From stock, it's easy enough to flash a custom recovery (via ODIN).

Can you flash stock firmware using TWRP?

Hi I downloaded
galaxys6root.highonandroid.com/galaxy-s6-edge-stock-rom/
My TMOBILE Samsung Galaxy Edge firmware. Due to some kind of boot issues. It just stays at the samsung logo
indefinitely.
I've rooted several phones in the past through different methods using linux. At this issue, I just dont have a lot of time as I usually do to mess around.
Every time I Try to flash the zip in the above url it says failed. I'm guessing this is because this kind of 'rom' is different than say cyanogenmod? Does this have to be flashed via odin or something?
i HAVE THE G925T, t-mobile. I've tried like 5 different custom roms which all also fail.
I've tried to find what firmware and radio I'm running via ADB but not sure how.

Hello, and thank you for using XDA Assist!
Yeah, stock ROM usually requires stock recovery. At least the the factory stock ROM's anyway (which I'm not sure this is - I'm downloading to see if I can tell the difference, but it's going to be a while edit: downloaded & viewed, and the scripts are pretty generic and barebones). If not the case, and if experience with the other ROM's prove, the TWRP you downloaded may be a dud - or the bootloader is (still) locked.
At any rate, I am connecting this thread to the forum your device experts can be found in:
> T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge > T-Mobile Galaxy S6 Edge Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
They've likely seen something like this before. Please note, that to be able to respond to replies, you will need to register for an XDA account.
Hope this helps, and good luck!
Odin stock complete firmware, not a rom, not with twrp.
Pp.
