Anytime I connect to my or any other computer it won't mount USB storage. It doesn't matter what rom I use. The only way i've been able to access my SD is to pull it from the phone. I tried using auto-mount from the market, and changing the settings in Connect to PC in the settings menu. I can't mount USB storage in recovery either. I searched the forums and didn't find an answer.
Likewise I'm currently having the same issue. Have you installed HTC drivers on your computer, or tried reinstalling them?
Try a different cable

It sounds like your port is going bad. This issue will eventually end up not being able to charge your phone. I had the same issue and had Verizon warranty replace it with a refurbished phone. First replacement had the same issue. Second one works like a charm.

Dual mount wont work I uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I haven't tried mounting through recovery...I reckon ill give that a go
I installed the drivers again, that didn't work. It won't mount through recovery either. I'm at a loss.

Have already reinstalled htcsync. Computer recognizes HTC sync. When mounted as a disc drive the computer recognizes it as a drive, but when clicked it does not recognize the device or the SD card with information on it. was previously working with no problems. I have no clue on how to fix the problem. Is there any setting I could have changed by accident? My phone is rooted.

Had this problem a while back. Had to uninstall HTC sync, uninstalled all HTC and Android drivers, using a program called usbdeview. Unplugged phone from usb and Rebooted my pc. Reinstalled sync and everything worked fine. As a note I've also had problems with HTC supplied usb cables and my firewall from keeping my phone from transferring files.

Thanks for the reply! Did what you said, and it did not work. The computer recognizes the device, and says that it is ready. Before when i would plug it in, a window would pop up asking what action I wanted to take. I would open windows explorer to open the SD card and view my files. Now it does not pop up. When I go to my computer and click the drive for removable disk, it says please insert a disk into removable disk. This makes no sense. Anyone else have any advice?
Is your device rooted? I ask because a lot of us that are rooted used unrEVOked and had to load drivers before doing so and you might try just loading the drivers from their site. I can link you too it if need be, let me know.
When I plug my phone into the computer it just charges and nothing pops up in the notification window for me to check set to storage or whatever. In development under applications USB debugging and notification when USB connected is on. I tried different USB ports on my computer and I tried rebooting the phone but still not working. What gives?
Does your computer recognize that something has been plugged in? (do you hear the usb inserted sound?) Have you tried plugging it into any other computers?

I have not tried on a different computer but when I plug it in the PDA Net thing that I installed to root pops up and says that I have plugged in a device, install pda on your phone to connect (or something along those lines)
Which rom are you using? if CM do you see the USB notification in the status bar? if your using windows, you might want to go into device manager and uninstall the USB host control and let windows scan and reinstall it.

Yeah I've been using it since it came out and had no problems with it. The USB has been working fine then yesterday I tried it out and it wasn't working.
Have you tried pulling the card and using a USB card reader on your PC? if the card cant be read with the card reader your SD card maybe going or gone bad... if it does read it, might want to backup and format it with the SD assoc format tool
Edit: is this the original SD card that came with your MT3GS? class 2 8gb Samsung... at least that's what mine was?

Oh I see... then try what the previous post says, backup your sd and format it. also it might be your usb port and/or cable's fault... even if the phone starts charging it doesnt mean the cable is making a good contact :/
it happens to me sometimes my dog went nom nom nom on my usb cable so it fails to connect properly sometimes xD
EDIT: you know what, try this and that way we can blame the rom if it works...
go into recovery and under partitions select mount usb and plug your phone to your computer, if it mounts and you see all your sdcard's contents then you just need to wipe and reflash ^_^
When I had this problem I had to get a replacement

It mounted in recovery and I was able to see the contents. Must be a problem with the ROM. I wonder how that happened? The other day my phone restarted randomly and usually it boots right up when it does that but this time it got stuck at the boot screen and I had to pull the battery and try again. Maybe that broke it somehow?

No, I'm on miguels smartass kernel with cm7 rc1, I can mount just fine. I would just wipe and reflash, should fix it. If not, try a different rom. If that doesn't work, then its hardware. Does adb work?

I've tried this on 2 different pc's now (both Win7 x64) and installed HTC sync to get the driver as well. On the phone I choose 'connect as usb drive'. The phone shows up as a drive letter but with no media detected.
The phone is rooted and running Myn's WarmZ.
Go into your recovery and try enabling it from there

Do you mean usb-ms toggle? When I enable it I get a prompt 'usb enable. Press power to disable and return to menu', and there's no way to go back without disabling it again. This is with Amon Ra 2.3.
I thought that was only for transferring files while in recovery?
Its the same as mounting the sd while the phone is booted. Do your files show up when u mount in recovery?
Yeah. You're trying to transfer files.. right? Use HTC sync provided on your sdcard somewhere

This happened to me once, a long time ago. Apparently, the phone doesn't like it when you change the name of the SD card. If you did something similar, change it back.
That's about the one thing I can think of off the top of my head.
I follow the quoted post of Aleks to root my phone and setup cm7, it can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1311194&page=50
Unfortunately I was lazy and used Samsung Kies to access my SD cards instead of following his instructions to allow my PC to view them. Now using cm7 I don't get the usb utilities option he describes when I go under wireless and network settings.

Thanks for the quick and straight forward reply. Good thing people are so diligent about insisting on a nandroid backup. Loved what I saw of cm7 and look forward to a stable version!

USB works fine for me on cm7. Adb also. Although I know some people can't get it to work. The first time you plugged your phone in after flashing cm7 did you let all the drivers install when you plugged your phone in? It took my laptop like 10 minutes to find and install the drivers

To be fair it was connecting to Samsung Keis still but I assumed after five minutes it wasn't working. Maybe I needed to leave it for 10+ minutes connecting?
it works fine for me too on cm7!! im using cm7 as a daily driver

It worked once on my windows 7 machine. Doesn't work at all on Ubuntu.

Okay using the stock Android OS when I go into Wireless and Network settings there is an option for usb utilities that when I go into allows me to access the SD cards on my PC. Does this appear only if connected to a PC via usb? Because I recall looking in the same or similar settings option when running cm7 and not finding usb utilities.
SD card mounting works fine if you use Auto USB Mount from the Market.
Wifi explorer from marketplace works for me

I've ran into this problem before, just like many others probably have, try a few different things, like rebooting your pc,if that doesnt work, reboot your phone and wipe cache and delvik and reboot, then try it,if that doesnt work,go back into recovery and use the USB connect in there.Maybe even uninstall the HTC sync app, then try it.

I know this isn't very good news...but I just ran into a similar problem. It seems to be a design flaw in the OG EVO. If it can't be seen over adb (adb devices) then in all likelihood, the USB data connectivity is borked. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Good news? It's easy to swap out the mother board on an OG Evo and they're cheap on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=htc+evo+4g+motherboard&_sacat=0 or try to find one locally on craigslist. Just make sure it has a good ESN, and like I said it's a fairly easy replacement,

Just curious, I know on mine, with some ROMS, when I plug in or mount USB in recovery, I never get the pop-up to view files, but if I go to Windows Explorer, viola! I can access the SD Card just fine
