Just wanted to hop in and say hi. Hope I made the right choice while at the Verizon store. I was so tempted for the Razr MAXX, but I used their iPads in store to check the xda section for it and saw that dev was kinda "meh", lol. So motorola, if you're reading this, you lost a sale because of it!!
Coming from a Samsung Infuse which I loved to death, but development for it died... and fast. If dev got more popular for it I know for a fact it would've been one of the best phones on the market.
One thing I miss dearly though, that camera. I took some sample shots. I resized because of the forum, also because one was 8MP and the other 5MP, but you can see the difference:

Hopefully all goes well with my experience with this phone. So far it's amazed me, other than the camera everything is pretty great, but I need to use it for a while before I make a final judgement.

I went from webOS to nexus as well, its great esp when the calendar works like amazing
I know what you mean about the camera. Unless the lighting is perfect, the Nexus camera has lots of "noise".
I've taken some great, clear shots with my Nexus, but often I take pictures and im like wtf why is it so grainy?
I'm also coming from a Samsung Infuse and agree about the 3 less MP for the camera. Absolutley love the GNex though! Congrats on the new purchase
Welcome to the club. i switched to the rezound because i was so frustrated with the camera. i switched back 2 weeks later.
im using "Camera fx" its an app that slows down the shutter speed so you can be still.
it seems to help.

Wanted to take the time and thank everyone in this forum for answering all my questions for the last year while I had my great Evo. I will be picking up my Sprint Epic Touch 4G on Friday. I have learned so much on rooting, troubleshooting and helping my friends come over to Android from the iphone community.
Thanks again and best of luck to everyone and their Evos.

This goes in General.
I agree
i agree this comment should be moved to the general forum area. i will however say that one my friends just his early and it's a nice phone, but the screen is just hair bigger than the EVO and at the moment could not see changing just yet. enjoy your new phone.

General is valid, but he at least made the effort to give kudos to those that made his stay with the OG better. I too took a look at the new toy, but have to agree...will wait until October/November. Specs and all are very good, just dislike the white (grey) and the web browsing was a bit lacking in the pixel translation (too many dot..dot..dot..with sudden changes in zoom/rebound if you will). Even made it to the register...was very tempting mind you, but will take a bit of "flawless" to get me off my OG since I don't really play a lot of games or watch movies on the "PHONE". I believe those that did make the move will be pleased, but not as much as those that wait a couple months..hmmmm.
Made the plunge
well Friday i decided to change to the Epic 4G Touch, and have to say i couldn't have made a better choice. great phone and the best part is that it's not much bigger than the EVO, don't get me wrong the EVO was and is a great phone.
Hello,
my galaxy s2(I9100G variant) was stolen and I'm thinking about getting a gnex for the updates and long developer support(there are other stuff I like about gnex but that's my main reason for getting it) but one thing is holding me back, the camera(also the lack of sd card slot but I can give that away if it's worth it).My phone is usually my main camera,I got a kodak digital camera but I use it in special events only.I mainly take pics with friends for uploading on social networks and stuff like that.So I wanted to know your thoughts on the camera, also would be nice to get some feedbacks from people who switched from S2 to gnex. Thanks in forward
The camera isn't that bad, sure its only 5mp compared to the 8mp on the s2 but its not the end of the world, its acceptable imo.
You wouldn't be able to tell the difference in picture quality if you took pictures outside with good lighting.

I believe there's nothing in my thread that's against the rules. And yes I did search before posting and I couldn't find what I'm looking for.
I personally will choose GNex mainly cuz I want Google experience (pure)
If you can get S2 for a really nice price (REALLY NICE), and you want that slightly better camera (GNex isn't bad either btw, night shot is pretty bad though), nobody is stopping you from getting S2.
Bare in mind that S2 is almost dead in both updates and for developers, since S3 came out.

It'll look good if you focus on the light source. I'll try to take a few night pictures tonight and post them.
Here's one in the daylight

Hey Guys, a friend of mine told me about an auction on ebay. I kinda really don´t understand the world anymore the iphone5 was sold for 1510€ in germany.
(1510 € = 1.945,182 US-Dollar)
It´s really hard to understand for me that people are gonna buy a phone for nearly 2000$. Atm i´m very happy with my GNex. It´s amazing fast, smooth and costs about 300€ in germany. someone could have 5 Gnex´s instead of one Iphone
It´s hardly understandable for me, why people buy a phone at such high costs with a hardware that´s nothing special today.
it has got a very strange resolution (1.136 x 640). i mean, dafaq, no one is using it, they just chose this xy bla resolution to get as close as possible to the form of the old one. the gnex has got the 720p hd standard, mx player for example can easily play hd videos, even mkv. u´re also forced to use itunes... in the direct comparison to the auction, this version of the iphone5 had 64gb space, but does this excuse the high price? and would the galaxy s3 not be a better alternative?
sorry guys, meanwhile i really hate apple they still get people to buy their phones, which aren´t bad, but so damn expansive and got a lot of limitations in the software.
really can´t understand that, just because it´s apple?!

thank you for your informative (not really) post about iphone5. Please file this in the iphone cabinet with the 30 other threads talking about that phone and not the nexus.

OP, people buy the iPhone for the brand not what's inside. The reputation of iPhone's are easy to use devices, while most people still see Android as an ugly, slow updates, pain in the ass to use OS. Android's image is changing but people still think the iPhone is the go to phone, period, end of story and will pay whatever they have to to get one.

Not sure if this has been posted, but our Galaxy Nexus sits on the same pantheon as the acclaimed Leica M9, Canon 1dx, 5d3 and Nikon d800 cameras.

Strange since everyone complains about the camera.
I don't complain about the camera, bests my old Thunderbolt's 8MP shooter.

not me, im constantly trying to show people that its an awesome camera. people just dont know how to use it. they expect the camera to do all the work for them, but it only does what you tell it to do. plus its really important to keep that back lens cover smudge free.

As per the above poster, I also love the GNex camera. It takes some getting used to but it takes better pictures than pretty much any other camera on a phone I have ever seen.

Very nice pics. I personally don't have an opinion, my eyes are not the best, and I've never had a good eye for capturing photography myself. I just use the camera casually and it works fine for me. What I meant was the general consensus on the camera is that it is poor, that is what the websites and reviews and even users all complain about. It may just be a common misconception, but it's widely the accepted view, accurate or not.
Not better than my SGN. I am still pleased i didnt go for gnex and opted a note last year.

TIPA didn't evaluate image quality only, but the whole pack of good screen, zero-lag shutter, 1080p recording and some other goodies.
TIPA meeting was on 24th March 2012, so it's understandable why they choose Galaxy Nexus.
All I can say about the camera is, its the only camera that can take colour accurate images of my coral reef aquarium. I've tried several cameras and other phones and its way off. Mind you I've learned the best settings for that application is simply changing it to cloudy.

Not sure if this is the right spot to post this. Anyways, I'm looking to make the switch back to android. Currently I'm using the iPhone 6s Plus. I like it and all, but miss android.
Now my question is, should I sell this and grab a op3? My main concern is the camera. I've hear a lot of ups&downs about it. And I am very pleased with the 6s Plus camera.
Help me out, I can't decide lol.
(And yes I realize I am posting in an android community lol)
Can't really tell you if the Op3 camera is better or as good as the 6s, as I don't have experience with the 6s... But I've had no issues with the Op3 camera...
Maybe check some comparisons...

Trying to be fair I'd give a 9/10 to iPhone 6s camera and a 8/10 to OP3's one, so there you go: probably iPhone is a better shooter, but OP3 plays fairly well, too, and gives you so many other benefits.
As long as you stick with OxygenOS or HydrogenOS, the camera is fantastic. If you want to go aosp/cm, go with sultanxda CM, he's implemented a custom camera HAL that outperforms the stock HAL on aosp roms despite it being a tad glitchy at times. I'm currently running the community build of OxygenOS 3.5.2 and it's great!
if camera is the priority.. NO.. I am a big android fan but it looks like the new iPhone 7 is the best all around phone at the moment. I myself would not buy it as I hate ios but if you like iPhone and are not opposed to shelling out the price for the 7. sadly it outperforms any phone in the market and from what I have heard the camera is better than any out there. it all depends on your budget I love android and I wouldn't switch to ios just for camera but than again its al preference. keep in mind the freedom you get from android. weight out the pros and cons.
The camera on the 6S is on par with the OnePlus 3 if you ask me, there may be a very little difference...I've used both and they perform almost identical to me.
OP3 camera is amazing at daytime, but at nighttime you will notice a difference.
