Well I have same question y some videos don't work
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Same for me. I thought the newest version of the Facebook app enabled video playback within the app? When I select a video it gives me the option of opening with DoubleTwist or Streaming Media Player, neither of which work.
Could be down to video format, I get the same with some Youtube videos (normally WMV files)
Hi all,
I'm using last Cyanogen ROM on my DHD. I'm really happy with it but it's missing a working DLNA application. I have tried several apps on the market but none seems to work like the HTC one did. Would it be possible to extract HTC Connected Media/DLNA app from HTC ROM and install it on cyanogen? Would it work and how to install it in case someone could extract it?
The only app that seems to work is Twonky Server, a free app downloaded from the market. The only problem with it is that is unable to reproduce .mp4 recorded files with Cyanogen ROM, while it's ok with the .3gp ones recorded with HTC stcok ROM. Could it depend to a kind of incompatibility of Twonky Server or of my Samsung TV, where I use to see my media files?
Best Regards...
I stream videos and music to my DHD using the apps UPnPlay and VPlayer.
The Upnplay app can find your media server and stream, while the Vplayer app is able to play most video files including divx.

Thanx for your reply. But that's not what I was looking for. I found many apps that can share my DHD media contents with my Samsung DLNA TV. But there seems to be problems with .mp4 videos recorded with Cyanogen ROM. Stock ROM allows you to record .3gp files that are smoothly played on my tv via DLNA. But with .mp4 video I only get on my tv the message " unknown file format". So if there's someone who experienced the same situation and can halp me to understand the reasons of this problem, and maybe how to solve it, will be welcome...
Hello all,
Is there a way to change the default applications of my DHD phone?
I'm using ES File Explorer to view my shared movies on my network. but all of the movies are *.avi files, which the default HTC movie player doesn't support.
I have downloaded VPlayer Beta a nice free application that can play such files, but i can't make it default player for such files.
I hope i was clear, and I'm waiting for your help.
Thanks
Ahmad
Hi, I dont know if anyone else is facing this same issue. The music player seems to recognize all media files including video mp4 files, it happens on stock rom and also on custom roms i ran. It also includes other junk files like ringtones and so on. is there any way to limit the music player to recognize only valid mp3 files or play files only from a certain folder? ive also downloaded a few music players like Apollo and playerpro and they are also facing the same issue. Thanks for your help

your Music Player will show every playable file in your phone.
atleast I don't know If there is anyway to limit music player to only show mp3 files..
The Alternate way I can suggest u that
place all unwanted ringtones in a folder and create a file
Named as ".nomedia"(without quotes) in the same folder.
This can tell the music player that the folder having ringtones have no playable files in it.
And the player will not show these ringtones.
u can do the same for mp4 files.

Simply rename the extention to mp4, no conversion needed.

Then your problem may be with the drm not the extension...
Another thought, if you have them on your tab already, use total commander and add ".mp4" at the end of the file so it then read my_film_title.m4v.mp4 ugly but might work?
Or in ES File Explorer you can long press any file and tell it to be opened as a Video.
Edit: but if they're DRM locked...

Lol, its because you're using the crappy default player. Install Mxplayer then install the ARMv7 NEON codec and then not only will you have a MUCH better player, but automatic support for practically any format, and also gain back AC3 and DTS support which Samsung decided not to include!
