Hello,
maybe you can just go to the bootloader and select the recovery there( put phone off - put phone on and hold volume down - choose recovery ).
I could say your cpu was to high, but it didn't screw up when you just changed your cpu ( or did you ? ), that's how mine got screwed once.
But I don't know if you really want to go back to basic ( htc sense :O )
Or just something like openfire( pm me for the link because I can't put links in :0 ) I hope this helped. If not, just pm me or reply to this ;P

CPU speed can appear stable even if it isn't. If the case is it just isn't stable you'll get random reboots, usually it'll happen repeatedly for the same reasons i.e invoking a screen rotation something like that, but if the speed is too high that's when you'll get an instant freeze or reboot and a continuous reboot if you ticked the set on boot option when setting the CPU speed.
Also to the op first try flashing again after a full wipe and then turn CPU speed down and animations off if that doesn't work try either a different version of cm7 or a custom sense rom, I wouldn't recommend going back to stock unless for warranty reasons.
If you're trying CPU sppeds, I recommend Antutu CPU Master, as it has a fail-safe. If you set your CPU speed too high and you set Set on boot and your device starts restarting in prompts you if you want to return to stock speeds.

Ok so I tried to install a ROM using the ROM manager. My phone is rooted with Super user permissions on.
Anyway I waited about 30 minuted, the phone cycled on and off, and then just hung in the off position.
I could see that the USB charging light was on. I tried to hit the power button but all t hat came on was the bottom keys (they light up but nothing else) I removed the battery and put it back in, tried to reboor and the phone just got stuck on the HTC screen. (the first one)
I can get into the boot loader (holding power and down) but when I am in there I try to go to recovery and it just hangs in the HTC screen again. I tried plugging it into the usb and trying this but more of the same.
Any advice? Yes I have read some of the threads but I am a pretty new user and pretty nervous at the moment at the thought of having bricked this phone.
Thanks for any advice,
Phil
Also the info I get on the bootloader screen is as follows
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.83.00001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL SYNT0101
Radio 5.09.00.08
Jun 10 2010
Then of course HBoot
I just want to add one more detail. I have tried Fake Flash. I put it onto my SD card and tried to boot into recovery. Again I get to the boot loader but when I click on Recovery the phone simply goes to the HTC screen and hangs there. Then it will either stay in that screen or turn off depending on who knows.
Also I tried formatting a new SD card I had lying around into Fat 32 and then putting fake flash on it and trying to boot with that. Same result.
Again gents, I have read the posts and have tried everything I have listed above so any advice or expertise would be more than welcome. Luckily I am still with in my 14 day return to store no questions asked time frame, but I'd really like to try to resolve this problem.
Thanks!!
I had that problem too. The only way to fix it was to wipe data.
Anyways flash this custom image see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=748618
The problem is our devices are SLCD whereas rom manager and clockwork is made for AMOLED.
Goodluck and this will fix it
mfpreach's advice should help you. Just want to say that you can flash without going into recovery, look for PB99IMG.zip in this forum...
I've got the same problem but with an amoled desire - just gets stuck at htc logo - wrote about it here with no help really: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747775
Can't enter recovery & tried official RUU with no success - i'm gonna send mine off for repair i think - didn't know you could flash without recovery though - might give that a go first.
Just managed to fix my phone! See my thread for the solution: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7548991
Thank you so MUCH!!!!
This absolutly worked! I was able to enter recovery and restore my old image. I didn't even lose any of my info.
Ok so just to clear this up, are there different ROMS for different screens?
Where did I go wrong? Is my ROM Manager the wrong one?

No the ROMs are the same - i think it must have been some random corruption - i also use ROM manager so may be related to that.
Once you are rooted you can flash ROMS regardless of screen type.
What i do is just put the rom zip on my sdcard & then boot into clockworkmod recovery manually and flash the zip from that instead of using ROM manager.
So when u say u boot into cloookwork, do u mean that u boot into the bootloader? I am not sure I 100% understand.

hi for everyone
i think i have a big problem
my desire is broken.some days ago i upgraded my mobile via ota and my phone closed it is not opening now.when i intend to upgrade rom or use offical rom my phone closes and i have to wait for a while without its battery plugged to open.
when i wait for an hour by unplugging the battery it opens for 2 or 3 minutes nd closes again.
i cannot make goldcard because of not opening.or bootloader uprade downgrade
i cannot load official or any other rom it sometimes shakes 5 or 6 times.
my mobile phone is not branded in my country some of my friend brought it from foreign country so i cannot send it to service
how can i repair it.what do you suggest
sorry i forgot
my device shows on bootloader

is it rooted or not.i cannot root it because it doesnt open 3 or 4 second
when it opens i enter my personal info like i purchased first then it closes
Tough situation. I haven't thought of this stuff in 5 months so I may be wrong. Don't hold me to this but I think there may be a way to change the boot loader via the SD card. I think I read it a few weeks ago. I remember it because I thought it may come in handy someday. I'll take a look and see if I can find the link again. Not so sure about the root. Can you get in to the boot loader? Press the power button while holding the vol down?
Either way I'd try unrevoked on it. If its booting then running for a few minutes, unrevoked may be able to catch it and do its thing. With that done you can go on to change the radio and Rom at will.
It sounds like you will be able to fix it but its going to take a lot of reading. All of the information you need is here. Finding it is always the problem.

yes i can get into bootloader but when i try to upoad offical ruu rom 1.21.405 it closes and everything repeats again
tthanks my friend if you help me i glad to you.....thanks....
Ok here's what I would do.
1. Go to unrevoked.com and select your phone. Download the package for the desire.
2. Check if it will work with hboot 93. Mine uses 83. There were issues with 93 back when the desire was first rooted. Unrevoked is now version 3, this may have solved the issues. Maybe someone with more recent experience can comment on that.
3. Get the radio and Rom you want. I'm using leedroid 2.3b and the newest radio. This can be found on the development section of this site.
4. If everything checks out, restart in bootloader and plug in your phone. It will ask for the Android 1.0 drivers which are in the unrevoked package. Point the installer to the location of the drivers and let it install. Unplug your phone and open unrevoked. It will say waiting for device.
5. This is where I'm not sure what will happen. Try restarting the phone normally and plug it in. It may pick up the device and restart it in bootloader to automatically do its thing and install clockworkmod. If so then you are home free.
6. Read all of the instructions for flashing radio and roms. Restart your phone, in boot loader. Don't press anything until the green words have appeared and disappeared. Select recovery & press the power. Count to 5 and press power + up volume. This can be tricky and you may have to do it a few times to get the hang of it.
7. The radio & rom must be stored on your SD card. Follow the instructions from the Rom cook to do the rest. Mostly, select zip from sdcard and apply for Rom. Then radio in 2 separate restarts. You should wipe all data.... wait a minute. Did you wipe all user data from your phone before upgrading? That may be causing the restart!
Let me know....
You need to learn all you can about the things you are about to do. Read all the instructions you find and do lots of searching. You are your warranty in this game!

Hello everybody,
i dont know if is ask already, and i´m sorry if it is, but i didnt found and answer to my problem.
My problem is that my desire is hang up at the boot screen with the green HTC Logo. I was playing (yoo ninja) on my htc when suddenly the game was frozen and then my mobile went down. After a while it reboot but was stuck at the HTC screen. I try several things:
- take out the battery and then restart
- restart with/without sim and sd card
- let the mobile run out of battery then recharge it and start again.
- go to fastboot and clear the storage and reboot
- go to the recovery menu
- well i know it wasnt clever but i even put the mobile in the freezer for a while
none of this solve my problem. I´ve been reading a lil bit in this forum and now my question is should i try to root my desire? is it even possible at this stage?
i cant get my desire to connect to the pc and i cant access the main menu of the mobilephone.
When it comes to the desire i´m a complete noob , so i never did any change to it. I hope is not a hardware problem cause if it is, i´m screwd up. Cause i dont have any warrant for it.
Some data about my desire:
- is not branded (i think)

Should boot to recovery
dont try to root it! It probably is a hardware issue - a very comon one. You'll probably need to send it in to get a new mainboard, so I wouldn't do anything to my phone what might void waranty.
Try to do a factory reset in recovery (apparently you already did that) - if that still doesnt solve the problem, I'd send it in, if I were you.
@moscow desire
yeah i can boot from recovery, and i already try it. Even made clear storage, which didnt help at all. I stuck at the same problem. but thanks for the tip.
@tillus
the problem is i dont have a warrant for it. It was a gift from my cousin in the UK and i live in germany. He bought a new ipone so he gave me his desire so I dont have any "quittungen/bill" for it and i think he doesnt have it too.
So ifs really a hardware problem, i can let if fall down on the floor, maybe violence help like on the old nitendo system =P

u shut be able to get it covered anyway
because htc can see when the warrenty is running out
try give htc a call
The warranty is already run out. So that is not an option.
The question is, he can boot to recovery, so he is not bricked.
All is not lost.
Look, at this point, I would do this,
1, find a stock froyo Rom, should not be a problem
2. Boot into recovery, When you flash, before installing the stock rom, I would wipe all caches, including going into advanced, and wipe the devalc cache if applicable,
Make sure you wipe the data cache also, if applicable.
3, Then flash the stock rom.
Worth a shot.
Overheat issue i think?
Warranty can't have run out, it comes with 2 years warranty...

okay i called up HTC but they told me the warranty has run out... One posssibilty is to send it to them anyway and they will look into the matter.
But since the warranty has run out, i rather not do it, since the repair cost will be the same as buying a new one.
So i will try moscow desire method for now, thanks.

Earlier today, I ran the updated 15/10/11 version of the ace hack kit. Like it was suggested, I read through the manual then I re-read it and re-read it again. As suggested, I disabled / uninstalled all security software on my pc and the other superfluous services. Ran the executable drivers file then I set the phone to charge only and usb debugging was ticked.
I then ran the hack-ace.cmd file as administrator and let the program do it's thing.
It appeared to have completed without any glitches in the suggested 6 minutes.
However, on the phone, all was not well. Since running this, the screen remains blank. When I power on, I get the HTC logo and then it disappears / disintegrates into a blank screen and nothing happens.
The only reason I ran this was to get rid of the irritating apps that I never use but have to Kill every day.
Can anyone help to overcome this problem? This was a replacement handset that I had to fight with my insurance company to get only for this to happen.
I am literaly at my wits end.
Thanks

Yes this is the best thing to do. Something must have corrupted your stock ROM. If AAHK completed properly, then you should have ClockworkMod recovery installed.
The first thing I did was install 4EXT recovery but thats not necessary, that was just a personal choice.
So these are the steps you should take:
1: Download a new ROM and put it on your SD card in a convenient place (I recommend the RCMIX32 Runny 3.1 ROM)
2: Remove the battery and reinsert the battery
3: Hold down the volume down button and then hold down the power button. You will get to a white screen with some green robots on the bottom. This is the bootloader screen. You will have to wait a bit for it to finish scanning the SD card. It will tell you when it is finished
4: Use the volume buttons to select recovery and press the power button to select it
5: After a few seconds the recovery environment will appear
6: Go to the wipe menu. Wipe data, cache and dalvik cache (and system if you have the option. I havent used Clockworkmod in a while so I cant really remember what options you have there)
7: Go a few menu's back and select Install zip from SD card
8: Select the zip file
9: Press yes on the confirmation screen
10: When it is finished, click reboot now. It might be on the menu back
This will install a new ROM and it should work properly. If you have any problems along the way just say and we will help to the best of our ability
Thanks for the responses.
I don't think ClockworkMod is installed as there are no options available when I select recovery. It just reboots the device back to the HTC splash screen which as mentioned then fades / deteriorates to a black screen. I had tried the Android HD Revolution rom but no difference.
One thing I did yesterday in my panic was to select 'Factory reset'. Will this have usb debugging setting?
Finally, when I connect to a pc, it doesn't see it. Is this because it's still set on charge only mode?
I'm probably my own worst enemy
If you finally press "Factory reset" you will reset USB debugging, then you can't root your phone using this tools kit. Try to reinstall the stock rom.
If you didn't root your DHD. Phone may still under warranty.
Hi Guys
I've managed to get this back up and running again.
After a lot of playing about with various file downloads last night, I finally managed to get my pc to see the phone. After that, I just downloaded a stock rom and installed it.
After this fright, I am reluctantly going to stick with this and not bother with rooting / custom roms.
Anyway, many thanks for all your responses, I really appreciate the time you took to helpo me out.
This forum absolutely rocks.
Hi,
I've just downloaded, I read the 'effen' manual and then ran ace-hack, it seems to have worked except I can't see clockwork mod recovery?
I can see superuser and ROMmanager, is it still ok to try and download and flash a custom ROM?
---------- Post added at 09:46 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:03 PM ----------
Well to confirm my noob status I have now found that clockwork mod recovery is indeed installed (I assume you're not meant to be able to see it as an app as it sits at a lower level).
I downloaded the CM7 ROM, so have booted up into recovery mode, have wiped/formatted as instructed but when I choose the zip file from SD card it appears to start then aborts installation...help!!!!

Did you check the MD5 Checksum of the .zip before you copied it to your SD Card? as it might is some way have got corrupted.
Here is a link to what I always use before I copy anything to my SD Card or install on my OS System:- MD5 Check 2.1.
Take Care
TheQuest
Thanks!
I'm all sorted (I think, fingers crossed).
It was principally because of the mac unzipping (Safari preferences not checked), this was the original and prime fault.
That caused me to doubt my partitions on the SD card (google is sometimes your enemy) which I altered.
So what then happened was CM7 installed but upon reboot looped continuously on the android skateboarding screen.
I finally resorted to formatting the SD Card, reapplying the CM7 zip and the google zips and so far it looks good.
Of course I (me and me alone) has stuffed up all the user data I had on the SD card. I might try to recover some photos but stuff like contacts I can regenerate no major loss there.
Thanks for replying!!
CM7 - the experience thus far
Well its 72 hours since I took the plunge!
Initially it looked odd and felt flakey, the Market refused to download 80% of the apps I tried. I resolved this (not sure if it was the right way) by going into recovery and clearing the cache 2-3 times and eventually downloaded all of my old apps.
Some apps cause frequent force-closes, I assume because they've not been updated for Gingerbread? Thats a very minor irritant, I can easily live without these apps anyway.
Battery life hasn't noticeably altered yet but I suppose I have been constantly been tinkering, playing with settings, trying wifi (seems a little less sensitive to signals) and gauging how the radio is working - I seem to get HSPDA a lot less and resort to 3G more than I previously did?
So, done it, like it despite some minor reservations - now what, is there anything else I can do to improve the experience?
I must add one thing this has shown me - I really really know very little about what goes on under the hood. Despite 20+ years experience in CIS this is a very different world and all credit to those who have developed CM7!!
Please help if you can.. please
Hello!!
I am desperately seeking some guidance. Please.
So, I used to have a HTC Inspire 4G and in June I rooted it successfully.. then installed Cyanogenmod 7 etc.. everything worked great. I unfortunately lost the phone and because of insurance got a new one.
When I rooted the first time I used the old school method that was in the XDA forum.. ADB..etc.. but today... with the new replacement..
I downloaded Advance ace hack kit 29102011 (ahhk 29102011.zip) which after reading all the stuff I thought would be just a quicker way to get rooted. I used the same PC that I used before.
This time, unfortunately I am getting a black screen, right after the HTC splash screen shows up.. it fades to black.
I can get to the "Hboot" screen but removing the battery, then restarting by holding the power and the down vol button.
Tried Factory reset.. still fades to back
Tried Recovery .. still fades to back
The device will not be recognized on my laptop when connected to USB..
Am I stuck? Do I have any options?
I should have done what I did before.. but am at a loss right now.. will you please help me.
Please.
Thanks a million in advance for your responses.
Please help.
