Hey XDA,
I've got a question pertaining to the HTC Desire HD's clock and the Automatic Time Setting.
Is the Desire HD clock controlled at the OS, hardware or network level?
The reason I ask, is when I had my Desire HD before giving it to my partner, using the automatic time setting would always screw around and not set the correct time, which would always throw text message order way out of whack.
I plan to contact HTC regarding this (provided it is OS level) to ask them if it will be fixed in Ice Cream Sandwich.
Thanks in advance.

Hey mate,
Had a similar problem, text messages were completely out of order due to the time. Went through the date/time settings and noticed it was synced to network time. So maybe the network time doesn't sync well with the DHD (Either OS or Network issue) To fix this issue i un-ticked network and just entered the time in. This fixed up all future sms's. Hope this helps.
Cheers mate. I thought this may have been the case.

Hi all,
Since today my desire will show the uploading arrow flashing as if it is using data but the download one never shows any activity and no apps or internet pages will load. The app market says it cannot connect as if the mobile internet was turned off. My WiFi works fine but my mob data does not. Any ideas what the problem may be?

i had this problem with a de branded (with froyo 2.2 .ruu download) orange handset could not get it to work spent 2 hrs talking to orange about the problem no reason given or found, if i did reset then go into recovery console but do nothing for a while then battery pull it would come back for an undefined period of time phone ended up in a bowl of water orange care are replacing it
Thanks for the advice mate but I don't have the luxury of a replacement handset as I bought the phone off the net and stuck my own sim in it. Mine is a de branded Vodafone running 2.2 froyo Rom. Any other ideas that might help me cure this problem?

Quick update: the data seems to work ok on a g signal and the download problems seem to be just with the h signal downloads

Are you certain that it isn't a network problem?

This is what it is sounding like to me.
Phone, Vodafone and have them check their side? (Also, how old is your sim card?)
My sim card is about a year old now. Do you think I should be checking it out and possibly getting a new one?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I seriously doubt your SIM card is to blame if it was working ok previously.
One thought that does occur to me is are you regularly using MMS? If so, do you have a separate APN for MMS set up?
I'm just wondering if perhaps your phone is trying to send an MMS and continually failing.
Regards,
Dave
i didn't mean put it in water i just said that's what happened to mine so i couldn't get it sorted and looked like it would have been sent back
Hey there! I've recently started having problems using 3G on my DHD.
I'm running Android Revolution HD 5.2.3, but the issues started occuring many versions before this, I just haven't had a chance to sit down and look into the problem.
When I connect to 3G, the icon appears in the notification bar but I simply seem to have no connectivity at all. Occasionally the icon will change to a H. If I try to browse a webpage, the up arrow on the icon will light up and the down arrow will occasionally flicker, but nothing happens. Can't browse webpages or use any apps that require a connection.
Sometimes it will randomly start working again for 15mins or so and then drop out again. 90% of the time, turning airplane mode on and then off again will fix the problem for 15mins also before it drops out.
Does anybody have any idea what problem I may be having? I'm with Vodafone Australia.
Update: At the suggestion of another XDA member, I tried flashing another radio and I'm still having the same issue, so I assume it is not related to the radio.
Bonus Question: When I can get access to 3G, since upgrading to ARHD 5.2.3, the google homepage no longer detects that I'm on a mobile device and does't take me to the mobile version. How can I fix this?
Please do check your 3G mobile data APN configuration. Make sure the 3G APN matched with your current carrier 3G configuration (search google for your Vodafone APN setting). The letter H indicates HSDPA connection (or 3.5G, maybe).
In browser setting, check your user agent setting, set it to Android/mobile. If not, clear cache and data of Browser program in Manage Application Setting.

Fixed the browser, thanks!
However, I have set up my APN correctly (as far as I am aware) and am still having the issue. Could re-flashing my radio help?

You have a fine, working mobile data, so you shouldn't have to push radio,RIL or flash kernel though. My best suggestion was the APN thing mentioned earlier. Or its network carrier related maybe? Try to consult your carrier customer service.

I consulted customer service and they are uncertain of any problems and simply told me that their service is 'not guaranteed to be perfect'.
However, a friend who lives in my area on the same carrier with the exact same phone is having no problems at all with connectivity, so I'm certain it's related to my phone alone.

Wow, that is not a nice thing to say to a customer. Have you tried to revert to stock rom with stock kernel and vodafone radio?
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
I haven't tried that as I couldn't find the stock vodafone AUS RUU (I think that's what I need anyway...)
But I've had a custom rom and custom radio since the day I got my phone and up until two months ago or so my internet has been incredibly fast and not dropped out once, so I'm doubting it's ROM/Radio related... Starting to worry that it could be hardware.

I'm afraid so too. That's the worst case scenario. Still, you should consult someone who's expert in this matter personally. Not the repair shop (that would be last resort).

Hi.
This maybe in the wrong thread.
My question is this..
Every time I lock my DHD then unlock it, it has cut off my wifi & reception off so could be affecting incoming calls etc.
Im currently running cyanogen rom(latest).
Is there a option to correct this or a fix.
Thanks guys for any help. )

Before the mods get on here, I will answer as long as you recognise this...
THIS IS THE DEV SECTION...all Questions should hit the Q&A section
However, have you checked that wifi sleep when screen is off is unchecked.
Settings>>Wireless and Networks>>*menu button* Advanced>> and check to see what wifi sleep policy is set to.

First of all, you posted this in the wrong section.
Anyway, I'll reply here. Some Admin is going to move this thread to Desire HD General section of the sub-forum, I believe. Anyway...
The Wi-Fi connection may drop because it is set that way. Go to Settings -> Wireless & Networks -> Wi-Fi Settings. Now press (touch) the menu key, then go to Advanced. From there, you should have an option called Wi-Fi Sleep Policy (it is the very first, I believe). Set that to never, or whatever it suits you.
It should be on When screen off by default, which means the Wi-Fi goes off every time the screen does so.

Oh thank you, wbbigdave. It took me 6 minutes to remember where exactly this setting was in Sense. Now my post is useless, and so is the waste of time I just did. haha
Gah knew i missed a step, im actually on ICS now so forgot my sense menus.
Thanks alot guys for the reply. I had a feeling was the wrong place too post. Thought might of been something to do with cyanogen rom. Not the case.
Thanks

Wi-Fi has nothing to do with 2G/3G, so it being off doesn't mean the CELULAR network is off...
Or... what did you mean?
Hi, was wondering if this has happend to anyone else, and/or is there a fix for it.
I have noticed that for the past month or so my time has been incorrect even when I set it to be correct. It keeps the time for about 3-4 hours then it starts loosing it as much as 15mins!
It seems to happen on every ROM that I use, so I cant see it being a ROM issue.
ITs really annoying tho!
Anyone else had this problem?
Thank, stoff
Does this not have anything to do with the auto time function and the time on the network of your provider?
I know that here in the Netherlands customers of Vodafone overslept themselves due to a time zone error in the network. The auto adjustment of time set their phones an hour early so that they woke up an hour late
Edit: So try to uncheck the auto adjustment and check with your provider if their time setting is correct.
I thought it could've been that so I left it unchecked but no difference! I even changed sim card to o2 instead of virgin but it still happens! Weird.

Have you made any experiments with overclocking? Maybe something messed up the clock hardware.
But the carrier should update the clock from time to time, I think...
Naa I don't over clock my phone. I'm just learning to live with it being 15mins slow or so!
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA Premium App
I don't have a cause for you but I do have a workaround that I use on my Asus Transformer that won't keep time properly, an app called ClockSync (available from the Market).
Thanks, I'll give it a try

I have a small problem guys....when my phone is in sleep mode i don't get my text messages....as soon as i get the phone awake instantly i receive the texts....what seems to be the problem? need help cz i need to manually wake the phone and look for text messages....
P.S i am on stock with 1.29 latest update.....not rooted or flashed....
I already had a thread but im deleting it and refreshing my question as i have not had any response from anyone except for 1 which is downloading power saver settings but that didn't do anything.....Please help...Thanx....
UPDATE: On some other forum which i was searching for on Google, someone had posted to clear the cache and do a factory reset which i did and still i have the problem...i mean as soon as i manually wake the phone from sleep....i hear the tone and text message light appears....but if there are two texts for example another one coming immediately after the first one, then it notifies for both the texts....
***UPDATE (Possible Fix)*****
After searching thousands of forums i have found the problem to be that of software. Couldn't find a fix for it but found an app on the Play Store that does the trick...The app is call SMSAwake. Write it exactly like this in Play Store and you will find that it works and actually wakes the phone up and text is received. Glad i found something..... Do respond if you find it helpful.....THANKS.....
Yeah I have simmer on my phone if i receive a text phone do not notify me when I get one sometimes it do but loads of times it don't.
I will get the text if i go look in my sms inbox then they show up iv had once where someone sent me a pic and it just disappeared from my messages before I could receive it.
Im on stock untouched this started happening after the ota update from O2 very annoying that this happens think it's a software fault thou.
I had the same with the fb app on other phones never told me of any notification but on my hox it works perfect but texts do what the fb app use to do lol.

It sounds like it's losing access to the network while it's asleep. What's your mobile network state showing? If the signal's strong it should be solid green.

I often had this problem on an HTC Touch Diamond with Windows Mobile. What was happening in that case was the text messages were received, but the interrupt from the radio to the CPU didn't always work, or the phone was waking up, but going to sleep a split second before the alert had time to sound.
To the OP, what have you installed by way of applications? Things like battery savers or shutting down tasks using task killers could be the cause.
Regards
Phil

Assuming you guys are using stock ROMs and radios it has to be something specific to the One X and the carrier you're using. It happens all the time because one universal radio designed to work everywhere is bound to have issues occasionally on specific networks. HTC just pushed an update to the Nordic countries that updated their radio so I'm guessing there must have been some specific issues identified. 2.X when it's released will have a new radio so that might help.
I assume the One X has fast dormancy enabled by default. That can be a problem on certain networks that don't support it correctly. Here's a link to a thread on fast dormancy from the SGS3 forum that might help. Beyond that, I'm not sure what else to tell you. All phones don't work equally well on all networks.
