does undervolting hurt the device ?
or maybe can this cause reducing the lifetime of the phone ?
No.
It's good for the device because it stays cooler I guess

Its good, but if you do it "too much" you get restarting phone.
Take voltage down always carefully and stress device always. Then belive me you get wonderful battery life.

You can raise them just not to much. If you go to high you might get boot loops, or you might fry something. Why would you want to though? Higher voltages just run the battery down faster and provides little to no noticable improvement in performance.
hi just wonderding if i oc my s2 to 1.7ghz win min 19200 will it damage my phone in any way?
I'm sure this is up for debate but obviously overclocking you're going to be working the hardware more than the manufacturer intended, potentially causing more heat, early component breakdown, poorer battery life, etc.
I'm with the darkside devs on this one. I've actually got mine a bit unlocked to 1.29 GHz and it works great and the battery lasts nicely. As they've said, overclocking isn't really necessary when the hardware keeps up nicely to any game you play on it or when you're navigating menus or websites on it.

What are you using to underclock because many are saying not to use setcpu?

System Tuner is good, however I would recommend staying away from overclocking period. As the other poster sited, you can fry your chip by placing unnecessary stress on it.
How's battery consumption compared to not forcing it?

Usually forcing the use of GPU does cause a difference in battery life, but the difference is unnoticeable. Maybe half a millisecond less of battery life.
Edit: My info may be wrong. I just read this in ICS days in a similar thread.

It should increase battery life since hardware acceleration usually means less stuff for the CPU to process which equals power savings.

I enable it on every ROM i use after ramping up GPU to 384 without really thinking about it. Always has been solid for me. And yeah, im gonna say that it doesnt do a 'whole' lot for battery. But hey, another 5% on a charge? I'll take it.

its the same period for me but its not that frequent its jus when im playin games or multi-tasking a lot...
It's not a heating problem, it's heating. If the cpu gets hotter than its tolerable threshold, it simply shuts down. Unless that's what is happening to you?
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
It dosent shutdown it jus heats up!!! One of my frnd suggested me 2 apply the liquid coolent of cooler master which is generally applied on the processor of the computer to control the heat... is that advisable???? He also said that if that is applied the temp wont go above 30°c...

1. Don't listen to him. If you open your phone and start applying artic silver you're probably just going to ruin it completely.
2. That number? He probably pulled it out of thin air.
The phone will get hot with very intense usage like playing ingress or Nova. If you find it getting super hot under normal conditions then you may have an actual problem.

He said to apply it under the battery where the silver sticker of imei is stuck not on the processor!!! Is that advisable????

Lol. Your friend isn't very bright.
Don't bother unless your device gets so hot that it reboots or is on fire
The heating problem has been solved by one of the updates. . Are you on the latest firmware version?

He said he tried on his lg optimus & it gave positive results the temp didnt exceed 30° even in heavy gaming.....was jus condisering to try it....

Applying regular cpu cooling paste or similar somewhere on the cpu will probably enclose the heat within the cpu, not letting it escape.
Firstly, I think your friend does not understand how differently a phone cpu and a PC cpu works, and secondly, I think he confuses battery temp with cpu temp.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 2
Thermal paste does NOT dissapate heat what so ever. All it does is help in the transition of heat from cpu to a cooling block made of alumium or copper, which eliminates the heat through a fan or multiple fins.
Applying just thermal paste to a cpu will accomplish nothing, and may possibly insulate the heat from escaping.
That's a crazy idea from someone who has no idea what he's talking about.
Don't accept any of his suggestions without checking here first.

Uhm, OK? The phone's been on the market for a year and this is the first time I've heard there's a "heating problem." Here's what Notebookcheck DE got in their testing. If you're not getting the same thing I'd suggest there's a unique issue with your particular device. And that could include any specific s/w you're using. That, or what you're condsidering a problem isn't.

I don't think it is smthing to bother abt. I will cool down soon if u work a lot, anything will get heated. Allow it to cool down.

In a nutshell and to be frank hes talking out his anus.. do not do this. All you will do is insulate the cpu.
GT N7105 with XDA Premium......that is all......
I can't resist to post, prepare radiator, pump, waterblock and all the tubes lol...
just undervolt...it will reduce heat...
I'm sick and tired of all of my iPhone friends having their batteries going strong after heavy usage and I'm struggling to keep up.
I know, I know, it must be an app or some process, but the battery indicator in the settings shows nothing irregular and I have no idea how to interpret Better Battery Stats.
Hell, I'm even on a Mophie Battery Case to get me through the day, but it makes the phone hotter, heavier, thicker, and slippier.
I've tried so many ROMs and kernels and nothing has been able to get me from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM with moderate usage (mainly sometimes using Internet browsing apps such as Reddit or Dolphin, and playing some on device music).
I need your input. I love this phone but the battery is really giving me buyer's remorse regarding my contract that ends December 2014.
I'm currently rooted on 4.3 SlimBean and its stock kernel.
I need suggestions, any and all!
Most importantly, I would like your absolute best combination of ROM and/or kernel in terms of battery life. Thanks in advance.

Dunno if it will help u but there's this app on Google play called setcpu for root users. Basically it let's u control your CPU power. you can over clock or under clock your phone with it. So if u wanna save battery life through the day. U can limit the amount of power or phone uses. Hope it helps. If not then u might need to buy a new battery. Good luck.

I currently have SetCPU, although it's not doing too much. I'll look into it more, though.

Try Greenify. It can hibernate apps when the screen turns off. You should really read up on how to interpret better battery stats. It'll show you exactly what is preventing your phone from sleeping if that's the issue.
