[Q] What about MIUI? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I know most people are waiting for ICS to be released for our phone, but what about a nice clean MIUI rom? I know I personally would love to have that like I had on my Vibrant, and I noticed they have it on the ATT version of our phone. I'd be willing to donate if someone could make this happen. Any thoughts?

Is it out for the Skyrocket?

The current miui is based on cm7. no cm7 = no miui.
If the past is any indication of the future, the next miui will be based on cm9.
Also, theres a port of miui in the t989 dev section.

It's Pre-Alpha and not a Daily Driver I believe.

[Q] MIUI

So does anyone here know if we will be getting MIUI for the epic touch? And if so do you know when we will be getting it? It was my favorite rom for my evo 4g and i would love to see it on this phone. Thanks
It will be ported eventually yes. We need aosp kernels.

If you flash miui from the gs2 with our kernel it works great except for the phone... Camera works, wifi is easy to get working ect..

We'll get it if or when a developer picks it up. If your anxious maybe pm some of the developers to see if they will pick up the project.... Just a idea.

I believe lithid-cm already started to work on it indirectly. By indirectly I mean they need a working AOSP kernel/build first. So that's what he is working on right now. I believe the kernel is giving them issues.

It would be really nice of Cyanogen would put out the AOSP kernels along with the stock one because he works for Samsung now.

Not sure why either but I asked lithid-cm the he said they NEED the AOSP kernel/source to work properly, before porting MIUI.

It will usually boot with touchwiz kernel but most of the time 3g 4g touch screen and calls wont work that is why u need aosp kernel . The drivers need to load toake things work .....we have multiple teams working on it teamhacksung and cyanogen team ..... It will happen patience my little padawan....

I rocked Miui on my OG EVO 4G almost exclusivly.
Having finally jumped ship to a stock phone (I rooted ;-)) there are some concerns with going back to miui:
1) NO 4G!!!
2) On Evo, there was no 720p recording with Video... I'd hope we can take advantage of our 1080p cameras!
3) DATA WAS SLOW
That's it... If those 3 things were fixed I'd be happier than a stuffed pig!!
MIUI PROS:
1) customizable like no other!
2) smooth
3) Clean UI
4) overall fun to use

What would you like to see MIUI or CM on the E4GT

Which would you like to see come to the Samsung Galaxy S II Epic 4G Touch!!
I personally would love to see both due to i like the customize look you can do with MIUI and then i like the features CM has to offer more than MIUI.
well since MIUI uses the cyanogenmod kernel, i think it would be proper for MIUI to come after CM7.

ICS (Android 4.0) would be CM9...CM8 is/would have been Honeycomb. I hear there are some HC "CM8" hacks out there, I don't know how official they are.....

Apparently CM8 was honeycomb (which obviously never had the source code released) so people are saying they'll skip to CM9.
I'm really missing the long press back button to kill the current app. I also miss having a choice of power apps in the notification bar?
I want the advanced power menu with download mode and reboot to recovery. the 10 status bar buttons. like unamed rom for att galaxy 2. cm7 of course then miui.
I like both of them. However, I'm still running stock rom. I think the stock rom is ok for me except the tether.
I like what we have and the Devs we have, I never was a fan of miui but cm7is nice. When it comes I will try it I dknt mind waiting.

[Q] why there are NO AOSP or CyanogenMod for the ET4G?

just curious because im jumping to Sprint with the ET4G next week and i've always been using AOSP roms and CM specially.so what gives, how come no CM7 for ET4G?
so i've been out of XDA for a while so please fill me in.thanks

The biggest problem is that there is no aosp kernel right now that works. So once we have that there is a better chance at getting aosp roms.

Well there's supposedly a build of CM7 Kang that works quite well on the SGSIIE4GT with some mod work. It was also sent to one of our main devs, Viper boy, and I'm pretty sure he and his team are ripping that thing apart line by line to make it work the best it can. They like to release finished products and they literally just got it yesterday... so.. idk hopefully soon!!!

Just curious, will it help once the Nexus-S 4G gets the official ICS Android 4.0 update from Google + Sprint, can any of that code be used to help make a ICS ROM for our E4T ?
Don't both phones share the same CDMA radios, and some similar Samsung hardware ?

Hold up: Who exactly did you "clarify" that with? I'm only curious because I was the one who sent that kanged Rom to Viperboy, and it was MOST DEFINITELY NOT an ICS Rom when I sent him the link to my Dropbox. When, exactly, did it morph from a tired CM7 build into an ICS ROM?
Am I now known as an "underground smuggler" of ICS ROMs??
(Lol)

Maybe because we read what team chopsticks says. They have become part of the official cyanogenmod team, and means when enough bugs get worked out, it will be the official cm9.

Not ready to go to the Chopsticks Alpha, but not completely satisfied with TDJ's rom (no offense meant). I loved CM7 on my Optimus V and would be extremely happy to get full support for our T989!
You guys should check the CM9 thread in the dev section and find one of the unofficial builds from the last few days. They have the audio issues fixed and are solid daily drivers.

It is great because of the hybrid mod being able to adjust individual DPI for apps. I've been on both CM9 tablet and PA Hybrid. Once you are able to set the DPI when necessary you realize all tablet mods should be able to do the this so why settle for less. CM9 only allows for most of settings to be 128 for tablet and for some this is way to small. I would suggest giving PA a chance I have gotten so used to being able to see things in tablet mod that I hate reading email or apps without the reading pane that tablet provides.

Yeah, the porter - KBizzle - has moved on to the S3 I don't think there are any problems with it though. I say you give it a try. Even though CM9 is still in "alpha", it is very stable... more so than other AOSP ROMs. Team Epic CM are almost finished with making it an Official CM Device too. I'm not sure though if ParanoidAndroid is a complete port, or if it is based off our own CM9, or if it is built from source entirely.
So would anyone mind pointing me in the direction for how to install Paranoid Android? Would I install cm9 first or just Paranoid Android or what? Maybe give me a link or something? I would love to try it out if it is as stable as you say it is
Edit: I've done a bit of looking, though not very thorough, and I could not find the ROM for the Epic 4G Touch. ???

Again, thank you. Everyone has been very helpful. I've gathered all the information necessary, except for this one last question. What do you all prefer between these 2 ROMs, assuming you have used them both. The Blu Kuban ICS ROM, or Paranoid Android hybrid ROM. I can install either at any time, but I would like to know a few personal preferences and reasons for said personal preferences before I choose between one or the other.

Totally night and day, both roms are great and i do go back and forth between the two. I have really adjusted to tablet mod for app's so tablet is my daily driver. I am caught between wanting to be on the newest rom's but can not think of going back to regular app's layout.
PA doesn't have support although I am hopeful someone will pick it up. Being able to set DPI setting makes PA stand out from the rest but I think tonight I'm going to flash the new CM10 and see if it will work with tablet settings even if it is not hybrid and I can't adjust individuation DPI settings for apps.
Update:
Flashed to CM10 JB but couldn't get it to flash tablet mod and since it is in beta had too many FC's. Reflashed PA 1.6 hybrid tablet mod and now back to the way I like it!
