Hello folks. I want to convert few videos into boot animation. I'm curious, before converting to device boot animation, does the video have to be in any specific format?
Bootanimations are actually a series of pictures in .png format.
Just Google 'how to make a bootanimation' and you'll find hundreds of threads detailing how to do it. Basically you make it like you'd make a GIF without actually combining them into one file - rather, you zip them together without compressing them. Just download any bootanimation.zip and you'll figure it out pretty easily.

So I have been trying to get a BIOS boot animation together for the Evo based off of frysee's animations.
I have everything made but my phone keeps skipping the animation and going strait to the home screen.
*I have attached a copy of my zip*
I used RickBaller's Jurassic park style animation as a basis for folder structure and desc.txt file, which is really frustrating me because if i use "pushboot" with his it will show up but if i use it with mine it wont.
Used photoshop to edit images
All images saved as .png files with no interlacing
All sizes are 480x800
.zip made with store compression
Is there a maximum size that an image can be?
Looking for some advice as to where I have messed things up.
The frame numbers have to be five characters long, e.g. 00001 instead of 001. Also make sure you don't edit the desc.txt file with notepad since that will screw things up.

Yet another question by me.
I was wondering if it's possible to use these boot animations on our phones. I was able to get the sound going by converting the MP3 to a WAV and I tried naming the zip files bootanimation.zip and sanim.zip and neither worked
Can anyone help me get these going?
perhaps the desc.txt isn't correct or the zip file is too large

So after a bunch of messing around, reading a lot of forums and how to's, I manager to make my first book animation.
I originally wanted to make a boot animation of the classic Dramatic Chipmunk video, but after I watched that, I saw a related video called Dramatic Cat that I thought was cuter and would make a better boot animation.
I'm still new at this so I don't know how to package/script/sign this to be flashable. If anyone is willing to make this a flashable zip, I'll re-post the file and credit you.
Root access is required to edit these folder by the way.
Just copy the "sanim.zip" to the "/system/media" folder.
Copy the "PowerOn.wav" file the "/system/etc" folder.
Here is the final result. For some reason, the Youtube audio is funky, it's better on phone though.
Hello there,
I'm kinda new to XDA forums.. Not sure if this thread is on right place? Or if it contain relevant information that is worth enough to populate subjects in here. After all admins can just delete this then I will know.
It's easy to change the default bootup animation. This procedure will not change the "Sony" splash screen though, just the "Xperia" inital screen and the following animation:
1- Go to /system/media and download "bootanimation.zip"
2- Extract files on computer. You will see some folders. Inside folders search for the JPEG images of the animation and the "Xperia" splash screen. Tweak images there and put any JPEG you want 9must be same size. You can delete images as to make a shorter animation. I didn't tested placing more frames though, so not sure if it will work.
3- Now comes the trick: Zip all the files again to the new bootanimation.zip but using compression method "store". It will not work using standard or other compression methods.
4- Upload new bootanimation.zip back to /system/media
That's. Enjoy your new boot animation
this thread must be in general
its more easy to create...see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1678540
