You need to add them to your collection in Zune and set your sync settings to be automatic. If you want, you can set it to manual sync. Regardless... it's gotta go through Zune.

Yup just open the Zune software on your computer and plug your phone in.
From there you can drag any item or folder from your "collection" down to sync with your phone.

HELP! Lost all contacts on my HTC Dash!

Need help from the experts! I did a search on this forum for my issue and I haven't been able to find one.
I don't have Outlook on my PC. I hooked up my phone to my PC and I have Activesync 4.5. I had synced up the phone and all I did was transfer music from the PC to the phone. Now I don't have any contacts at all! I looked to see if it was on my SIM card and I don't see anything. I don't know where to look in Activesync for my contacts. Please HELP!

you may want to see if your contacts are listed in outlook express or another email client you may have on your PC. One of the options you may have done (i know cuz this has happened to me b-4) is this: when you first create an activesync partnership it will ask you 1.) if you want the items on your device to be replaced by the PC, 2.) if you want the items on the PC to be replaced by the phone or 3.) do you want to merge the items. If you picked option 1.) and didn't have any contacts in on your PC to be sync'ed then what will happen is ActiveSync will remove all of your contacts out of your phone to prepare for syncing of contacts from your PC, (even if there are no contacts on your PC). I'm afraid that unfortunately, unless your contacts have been stored somewhere else, (Like Outlook express, or an MSN e-mail account like hotmail) you're kinda out of luck.

Pretty much capped it right there. Good job.
How can I find out which way I went from the options you mentioned?
I don't think you can unfortunately. I would definitely delete the profice from your pc in activesync so that way if you do get your contacts back this wont happen again. The reason why i say this is because if you do this, you will be re-prompted select one of the 3 options mentioned above.Even if it's not option 1 that you selected. What's done is done and can't be undone. Meaning that even if you did see which option you selected and changed it to option 2 or 3, your contacts will not magically come back.

Data Thru usb

Anyway to sync thru usb to get data? Similar to active sync
try google sync in my signature. I know thats not usb but it will get you your contacts calendar etc..
USB
I'm also having issues with the USB connection.
Sometimes windows will recognize the USB connection, and it installs ADB drivers from google, but the adb.exe won't recognize it as an attached device.
Mount SD also doesn't work, but I think that's understandable, since Android is running from SD.
Has anyone done some work on running android from the internal flash? I imagine that's quite a bit more work involved...
Personally, I'd be happy getting ADB to work.

You can also use Microsoft Excel export to a CSV (comma seperated values) and then import that using your google account. Its really pretty easy.

Way to sync subscription music to device?

Is there a way to sync subscription music files to the Evo?
I have music I have purchased on my laptop with Zune. I use windows media player to sync the other songs that I have burned from a cd to my laptop but it will not allow me to sync Zune files.
It gives a message that says it is not possible to sync subscription files to device
I would like to know too.

Without breaking the DRM in the files. no.
there are ways to get around this but they break DRM and i am not sure i can really go into it much on this forum. i would try to Google protected music converter as a start.
alternatively you could move away from zune and use one of the subscription based models that has an android app (something like Rdio) -- that's the route I went and couldn't be happier.
I had to convert the wma file to an mp3 file.

Galaxy Nexus Music Sync

Hey guys. Im gonna buy a vzw gnex tomorrow and will be putting my music on it. Problem is, I don't want to have to manually transfer the song files back and forth from computer to phone (or vice-versa) every time I buy a new song. Is there a way that process can be automated, like syncing?
Thanks
google music?
you can sync specific folders on your computer to the cloud storage
you can access it via stream or have the option to download it to your phone

Yeah I was going to use the stock music app. So I can set up the "folder" as the itunes music folder on my mac and whenever a new song is added my phone will download it? And the option to download, where can I find that?
idk how it works with mac
i created a folder named "music" on my laptop and chose it to sync to my google music account
when you open the google music app it displays all the songs in that folder...you can stream it via wifi or data
as far as i know, you have to download the each song manually..i dont believe there is a way to sync them all directly to your phone storage
edit: you can add them all to a playlist then select "keep on device"
a less confusing way may be to set up a dropbox folder (and name it "music) on your computer and then download the dropbox app on your phone
then you can access the songs through the app and download them that way..its less confusing then google music
the benefit of google music is that its stored in the cloud and can be streamed (so you can listen to them whenever you want and yet you save space)

Yes you can tell it to sync your iTunes folder. That's actually the default option when you install the Google Music uploader on OSX.

Google Play Music Sync

Hi guys,
Quick question... I'm trying to sync music between my note 10.1 2014 and galaxy note 2. I downloaded google play music and I can sync music from my PC to my devices by downloading "music manager" for the PC which uploads them to the server
My question is if I Download a song on my phone can I somehow put it on the google play server so that it syncs to my devices??
....I guess I could copy the song to my computer and then sync it using music manager but that is a lot of steps... Would just like go upload to the server from my note 2

OK, you should setup your sync in a right way so that you could access the SAME content from ANY devices. The source should be store on the cloud so you could access from any devices and from any where. 2 way sync should be used so that when you change/modify/edit from any devices it should update your central source location then sync to all other devices Here how I did mine:
1) On your PC install Google Drive - This will create an offline folder on your PC where it auto sync to your Google drive cloud storage. If you change/modify/add the Google drive on your PC, it will update the Drive on the cloud. For the PC you should allow ALL folders/files to be sync to the cloud.
2) On your device - install "Google Drive" and "Autosync for Google Drive" - On the device, open Autosync for Google Drive and select ONLY folder you want to sync, obviously you don't want to sync other folders, cause you don't need to. In your case, choose Music folder from the Cloud and select 2 way sync. Done
Now if you download songs to your PC, these songs will auto upload to Google Drive (cloud), then sync to ALL of your devices that you configure to sync. Same thing if you download songs to one your device (phone/tablet), it will auto sync to the cloud then again auto sync to your PC and other devices. As you can see your PC and all your devices always in sync, no matter which device you modify or add.

Not a problem, if your music stored on Google drive, if you tab on the song, it will ask which player you want to use (what ever players are installed on your device), of course Google play music is in there, you can install third party player like Poweramp etc... and pick one as default player so next time it won't ask to choose anymore.

Exactly what I want but when I play the songs from Google drive they only play individually and I can't hit "next song" and I can't play the next song unless I exit out of the current
song... Is there a folder somewhere so that rather then using a folder on my drive to sync to, I sync to the google play music folder/server ?
What I like about using google music is that all the songs are displayed at once and I can shuffle through them quickly

Create the playlist on your PC browser or from the Google Play music app and the playlist will sync to all devices. REMEMBER IN ORDER TO PLAY MUSIC AND PLAYLIST you need to upload all your songs to GOOGLE PLAY MUSIC CLOUD, not google drive cloud.
