Are you paying for hot spot?? Sprint can see if you're using a wifi tether app and that violates the TOS so that's probably why you got the letter.

So all this time I thought that Straight Talk was ATT strictly.. til my bro in law just told me I can purchase a T mobile Sim Card and use it.
http://www.shopstraighttalk.com/bpd...cards&zip=32707&market=GSM5&locale=en&lang=EN
45$, unlimited text mins and web, no contract. Does anyone have this Straight Talk plan with a t mobile sim card?
If so, what kind of Web Speeds do they offer? Is it T mobiles Hspa 42.2 mbps 4g or what?
Also is it truly unlimited web? or do they throttle after certain GB of use?

I had Sprint last week and decided to get rid of them cause their data speeds was soooo bad.. so far though I'm happy with straight talk. The girl i bought my phone off she mentioned simple mobile which runs of T-Mobile towers. And idea about them?..

I've been using Straight Talk with the T-Mobile compatible sim for about 4 months now and I've never been throttled. I regularly use around 6-8gb of data a month and have never had any trouble. Speeds are exactly on par with what you get on T-Mobile.
However, there are rumblings of Straight Talk throttling on the AT&T compatible sim card.

If this is true I'm suing them because in my paperwork it says truly unlimited. Plus that's not what I signed on to in the store.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
Truly unlimited means that you are not disconnected from the internet but your download speed will be slowed to about 10kb/s therefore you still have internet and tmobile doesn't violate your contract
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda premium
I'm at 12 GB so far and still hitting 15 mb/s. I think they must have just misinformed you and told you about the 10 GB unlimited plan. Which does slow down after 10.

That rep was misinformed. Their truly unlimited plan is truly unlimited. They have another "unlimited" plan for 10 GB -- and they will throttle you afterward.
I agree that the rep is misinformed. Log into your t-mobile account, you can go up to 9999gb.

I am not a big fan of opera however if you are throttled trust me it's a life saver. Opera mini compresses your data so it not only uses less data but is much faster. When I am slowed down my data is practically worthless.

Couldnt find it in plans, so decided to chat with tmobile rep. this is the outcome.
She told me that i never added the free 500 mbs of free tethering to my account and that she would be able to do that for me at that moment.
So i asked her, do you see any data used for tethering on my account and she said no, so that means that the wifi hotspot work around was doing fine.
Then i asked should i be able to tether if i dont add this service, and she said no. which is wierd because i was tethering when i was speaking to her.
So guys should i add the free 500 mbs of tethering or just leave it as it is?
that is really weird.. since I can see it in plans... I'd say don't change it as its working right now and if it ever stops working which I doubt you could always change it
