[Q] Sync Outlook with Gmail - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I'm sure this was asked a few times but I can't seem to find a resolution. I have a rooted E4GT and am working with a corporate exchange server. The google active sync is for business customers only so it does not apply to me. McAfee EMM is not working because my phone is rooted so the only thing I can easily sync now is the calendar.
Anyway to sync e-mail both ways? Not just contacts and calendar.

Can I synch Desire with Hotmail?

Helle guys!
I'm most likely going to buy Desire tomorrow. My HD2 changed the Lockcode automaticly today. And I'm so tired of the SMS bug and all that other things so I'm going to trash it.
My question is, can I synch Desire with my hotmail? I have everything over there, Calendar, Contacts, Mails, etc.
I love the way this function is intregrated in Leo.
Thanks for reading guys...
Yes, you can sync the desire with hotmail. I think server is pop3.live.com and smtp is smtp.live.com. I have set it up and works fine. I don't know if this is an EU only thing or USA as well..
Not too sure about anything more than the email. I have google calendar and contacts, which works best for obvious reasons..
Good luck

Hey!
Thank you dude!
I'm going to buy it then.
You can't really sync with Hotmail. The only thing you can do is receiving your emails trough pop3. You cannot sync your calendar or your contacts as there is no native hotmail or windows live app/integration for android.
What you could do is import your hotmail account into gmail and then sync your desire with gmail and you'll get your contacts and calendars and of course your e-mails. You can even send your e-mails from you gmail account with a different e-mail adress. After the import you can set your gmail account to query the pop3 hotmail server every 15 minutes to get your mails.
Did this for my girlfriend, so she can get all her mails from hotmail including contacts and calendar.

Android multi Calendar confusion ...

I'm getting mighty confused by these multiple calendars that have appeared on my device and getting them to sync with my Google calendar.
Here's my set up. I have all contacts and calendars on my Google account before I started. I set up my Desire to sync with them using Google account.
All seemed fine but I found the Gmail app on Desire pretty limiting so I set up an Exchange activesync account linked to my gmail account for my mail (always worked well on my HD) and set it to sync calendar and contacts too. I then disabled all the syncing through the google account to avoid complications.
Unfortunately the exchange account doesn't seem to be configured for push and has no option to change this but that's not why I'm here.
Coming from WM, I'm used to having one calendar that is in sync between Outlook on PC, Google calendar and mobile device.
When I co to calendars on my Desire now I have no less than 4:
My Calendar
xxx @ gmail.com
Exchange
PC Sync
What's going on here? Which is which? So far HTC Sync connects but will not swap any contacts or calendar items with device and vice versa. Nor do appointments I add to the device show up on Google Calendar.
I suspect that this is because these different profiles seem to be associated with one platform - outlook / google / desire - or another.
Can anyone shed any light?
Many thanks, M1.
For anyone else trying to work this out there is a useful (bit old) thread here:

It seems you need to be careful which calendar you add entries too if you want them to sync with cloud mail - I unticked the box next to My Calendar so now entries I add on the Desire default to the google account calendar and sync as expected.
Now have to get to grips with the PC Sync calendar and work out why none of my events and contacts are syncing with out look. Sigh - it's just another learning curve i guess ...

Push can be enabled under the Exchange ActiveSync Settings. It defaults to every 10 minutes, there's a Push Mail option.

Untick them all except Exchange and you'll just see Calendar entries updated by Exchange. I don't have an Exchange option incidentally, so just untick them all and it still shows.
xx @gmail.com is using the Google Sync interface but you said you dislike the Gmail App. PC Sync is for using HTC Sync via Outlook. This is really for non-Google Calendars/people locked into using Outlook. As you're using Google, you're better off updating direct from Google.
You can in theory use Exchange ActiveSync for E-Mail and Google for Calendar/Contacts or visa versa but obviously it makes more sense to use one method or the other. As Gmail supports Exchange ActiveSync, there is basically crossover between using Exchange ActiveSync (and the HTC Mail App) or Google Sync (and the Gmail App).

I presume, so you have them in Outlook too? Don't bother.
I use GSyncit to update Outlook. This talks directly to Google and gets Contacts/Calendar. It's well worth the $10-15. For me it goes:
* Outlook to Google via GSyncit: Both ways
* Google to HTC Desire via Exchange ActiveSync (or Google Sync if I prefer): Again both ways

How should I sync?

Probably more of an Android question really, but anyway, my Desire is on order and I'm wondering the best way to sync... I do have a Google account already but I dont use the mail or contacts. I want to sync contacts and calendar with two pc's but for email just use pop3/smtp. should I somehow sync both Outlooks to Google and sync the phone to there, or can I put HTC Sync on both PC's and ignore Google for sync altogether... pros and cons appreciated

[Q] google sync / exchange sync

i wanted to know if when i sync my google account to joi market place, if i also have to put my active exchange sync to my gmail account also. ive had it like this on my HOX since i got it but now i noticed that in contacts under edit options, contacts appear to have the same info for exchange and sync. so i checked and saw exchange syncs mail contacts calendar tasks, as does google sync.
so i was wondering if i could just disable exchange and stay with a google sync and have other accounts like hotmail linked to hotmail account and ignore active sync
ty in advance

Google Now and calendar sync

Hi,
My stock email/calendar client wasnt syncing with my Exchange email after upgrading to JB. So, I have switched to Touchdown email client, where my emails and calendar are synced properly.
Now, how to get Google Now use this synced calendar for the appointment notification cards?
Right now, I don't get any appointment alerts from Google Now.
Is there any way to sync the Touchdown calendar into the Stock calendar?
Really appreciate any help here.
Thanks

NitroDesk has been fairly adamant about NOT providing access to the calendar database, and making it separate and proprietary.
I use tasker and the developer said the NitroDesk's NDA was so overreaching that he couldn't legally do anything to access the calendar.
Maybe Nitrodesk will change, but I doubt it. The requests to get access to Touchdown's Calendar database have fallen on deaf ears for
several years now.
