F.A. Meeting....Im a flashaholic - Samsung Epic 4G Touch

I thought this would be fun. My name is Justin, and I'm a flashaholic. I started with a samsung instinct. I got into removing the sprint crap on that, then I was introduced to android with the samsung moment. I have had the moment, transform, hero, epic, evo, evo 3d, nexus, and epic touch....oh, and my wife has a rooted motorola xprt. I like to learn how the systems are put together, and how each device is different. In real life, I work as a U.S. Customs Broker (I bring stuff in and out of the U.S.). My other hobbies include playing guitar, making music(recording), working out, and working on cars.
Lets hear your story.......

My name is Sam. I'm a flashaholic. It first started when I was 17 and riding the bus to school. I would pull down my pan.... wait, got confused.. uuhhh.. I like this phone.

My name is Nate and im a flashaholic/device whore
I started with the g1.. Then HD2,vibrant,vibrant 4g,g2x,evo 4g,evo shift,epic 4g,nexus s 4g,evo 3d and now the epic touch...
ive also owned a few tablets (touchpad, transformer prime, kindle fire, playbook) I play alot of call of duty (xbox live) and I own a 145+ db car audio system...
I want to learn how to compile kernels...

okay, but seriously. I want to know who eeryone is beside their xda profile. I think it could be really interesting.

I am Tim I am a flashaholic I have owned treo650 , treo700 , palm pre "**** I was stupid" , hero , OG evo , epic4g , nexus$4g , evo3d , epic4gtouch , and soon galaxy nexus if they upgrade it for Sprint ....I am a dirty old man " I will flash anything " lol but I do feel older than most here 38 ... From Florida live in Phx...

....oh yeah, Im 30.

I am Adrian and I'm a flashaholic. I have owned a hero, nook color and this e4gt. I am a collision repair tech currently in Denver. I am teaching myself java and python. I love messing around with arduino and sl4a. I also have non geek hobbies like working on cars, sports, drinking, and women.

My name is Sam, and I am a flashaholic. (Also known as a crackflasher)
I started off with the G1, and watched many of GamerCores awesome videos on how to root, theme, and many different things. I then went to the HD2, Nexus One, back to the HD2, (Craigslist is used prominently throughout) Samsung Vibrant, G2, LG G2x, HTC Sensation, and, sadly, due to the militarys needs, I had an iPhone 4s for a while. (Hated it) I finally recently traded for an Epic 4G Touch, and have never looked back.
Oh, and I was the one who released the original Gingerbread files that got people working on ports back some time ago. And the original Honeycomb system files.

These are just some of my conquests. Thanks for letting me share. Flashaholics unite!
---------- Post added at 12:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:38 AM ----------
I have also owned several tablets, Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPad 2, and Transformer Prime. I only kept the Prime, the others were returned due to not being satisfied with them.

My name is George and I'm a flashoholic. I have trouble remembering how things got so bad but I recall the treo, the HTC ...damn, I can't remember the name (it was a windows phone), then I crossed to the dark side, got an iPhone 3gs. That was when I first learned about "jailbreaking" and modding a device--I was hooked. From there, I finally came home to Android and got an evo 4g--good times. From there I got an evo 3d and now the e4gt. Flashing got real bad when Cyanogen had his nightlies on the evo 4g. I went on to root my wife's phone, along with two of my co-workers' devices as well. In between all these, I bought, rooted, and sold a xoom and an ipad 2. Can't stop, won't stop...lol.
During my waking life, I'm actually a therapist (who can't cure his own flashoholism...). I actually try to root human beings too!! I'm almost 36 y/o, married, with a one year old boy.
Damn it, when's the next cm9 update?!

I think my flash of choice is cyanogen, after that would be miui....when I had my Nexus S, it was an everyday thing going back and forth between the two.

Im Dorian a 16 y/o flashaholic. My first "smart" device was a 32gb ipod touch. Then about a year later I got the my touch 4g and loved it. Next was my evo shift which was kinda slow with that loading issue htc dropped on it. And finally My prized Epic 4g touch which made me take the plunge into rooting because it was so simple. Ive had an xda account since 2010 because i wanted an android but wasnt techy enough, but now i make my money fixing computers, phones, broken things with motherboards.

That big old brick from Motorola, analog days....
My first was an Audiovox CDM-135 on Verizon back in 2001. It was one of the first "web browsing" phones, whatever that was supposed to mean. I loved it. It was cooler than the old gray Zach Morris phone my then-girlfriend had in her glove box. Then one day I heard the ethereal ringtone of a Kyocera 2325, saw the blue screen (everything else was green at the time) and had to have one. Got one unlocked off eBay and rocked it for a couple of years, I think. Then I switched to T-Mobile and got a T610, but through Amazon and one of those ridiculous $200-more-than-you-paid rebates, so I used that money to buy an unlocked T630. The T610 never even got used until my sister took it when she broke hers. After that, I upgraded to a Samsung T-309 (my first flip phone) and used it for a couple of years until I was due for an upgrade. That was the same weekend Motorola launched the Zine ZN5, so I got one of those and used it for a year and a half. Then I canceled my T-Mobile account, switched to Sprint, and got an Evo.
Oh, and earlier this year a friend gave me his old iPhone 3G, so I unlocked that and played with it for a week, then I traded it for a brand new HTC HD2, which I promptly sold on eBay for a hefty profit. But that was just a side project.
my first phone i think was a nokia (alot like OPs) which i got in 98 (i was 6 y/o) because my mom wanted to be able to call me to check in on me while i was at freinds houses
had that for like 7 years and got a Samsung flip phone which i had for 2 years then the first phone i acctually know the model of would be the samsung a900
which got stolen and replaced then stolen again but they discontinued it so they gave me a razr instead after that i got my htc hero then to my evo which is where i am at now
there is my phone history (not that anyone cares) just started typing and said it all haha

"Remember when..." Thread

Remember when the pda ppc6700 came out? I bought that thing off contract at sprint for 600$ !! Honestly the most useless phone I had lol was pda first, phone fifth..
Remember when I got my first sprint phone, a sanyo flip phone with camera. And sprint was using SHORT MAIL not sms loll what were they thinking?? Was so slow because it used the internet loll.
Remember when my mm7400 was the ****. Played music loud, took great pix. Always wanted the 5600 but this was better.
Remember when I first heard of the samsung omnia, and widgets etc. sounded cool but didn't look much into it.
Remember when I got my sanyo mm8300 and took my first video

I remember when I had my first sprint phone, I think it was called the the samsung a900. knock off of the razr but better. A friend of mine had the 6700 at the time and I was very jealous.
I remember when the 6700's predecessor the mogul came out, and that became my first smartphone. I loved that thing. I had owned PDAs before, such as some of the first palms and a handspring IIRC but this was the first time I had winmo, it was awesome.
Ahhh my first phone was a Nokia. It had snake on it. By far most addicting game to ever hit a mobile platform. Oh and it had a calculator screen (or so it seemed) then I had a Nextel i530 all rubber same calculator screen then I upgraded to a Nextel i860 then again to the i930. It was a windows phone. It was terrible. But that was my first "smart phone" then I had a stint in blackberry and now 3 Andy's later I'm on a nexus s 4g

When and if an official MR fix is out from Sprint and or Samsung then i'll bite again. Tired of being a beta guinea pig for these companies.

If you guys are even thinking of getting one.. get one.

Honestly...don't use the thing. I can see it being useful if you're traveling a lot though. And that's something I don't do often. It's normally sitting on my nightstand.

I'm right there with you. I thought I would be using it often but nope. It's just sitting there in a case looking pretty. I have CM7 on it but not too crazy about it and I doubt ICS will make me use it more. I might sell it after I'm done with finals. However, for those that will use it and get that awesome deal, it's a no brainer.
Thanks for the heads-up!
Thanks, I heard about the first run, but didn't get interested until they were all sold.. Is WebOS worth keeping on it?? Or is Android pretty mature on it like it's natural?

WebOS is definitely a keeper. It works well with the tablet and besides, it's not like installing CM7 will remove it since it dual boots. During the rare occasions I use it I favor CM7 cause of android games and WebOS to complete some tasks.

I have 2 of them so I might be willing to let one of them go . Also notice the Evo3D I acquired for my fiancee, which she claims is better than the S2... lol, this thing is like a good 4.5 feet tall. I love it!
Just thought I would share my nerdiness and awesome decor with all you here on XDA, geek on!

very cool. still enjoying the ps2 i see, i still do to every once in a while. what game is that in the last pic?
I love my PS2, It is Burnout Revenge. My fiancee has never played console games and while I was in the service I kinda let my gaming fall by the wayside so it is all we own (for now... still trying to convince her we have to have a PS3 to do our Samsung led tv justice)
Ive got two of those myself.
Would you mind trading one for an EVO 3D? ;D
Clean those cables and everything up lol
That cardboard tv looks realistic....
Haha we are in the process of getting the room moved around and are trying to get my cable organizer back in place, Im going to turn the "screen" on one of these into a white board, I figured it would be cool to have an Epic 4g touch white board for us to write our info on. I also have the topper for the HTC Evo3D and the GS2... HTC's is wood and foam, Samsung's is cardboard and plastic... I still like my GS2 one better
I want one of thse big phones.
It will go great next to my Duke Nukem Forever giant box.
man that's awesome!!
Anyone that wants one of these I just acquired a few more from the other stores, shoot me a PM, if you are in the area you can have one and I would appreciate a donation to the Habitat for Humanity Women helping Women build, if not I will figure out shipping for one, and will let you know how much you need to donate to your local Habitat or equivalent charity, or you can donate to an Autism Awareness charity (ask pftmedic for a suggestion to a good one) and I will send it to you free of charge, as long as you can prove a donation! Thanks for the kind words everyone, I love my big cardboard displays, I have a few of them and I absolutely get a kick out of having them up on the wall or hanging in the garage!
Thanks!
Andy
Lucky! I can't complain though because I had a $200 best buy gift card... just had to pay for taxes. Lol

Thought they gave you the actual phone at first lol....
Lol, no but our at&t rep hooks us up with phones when he gets them. I'm considering switching and grabbing a skyrocket. He gave my manager an S2 and told him to make it awesome. It its nice being where i'm at. Fresh out of the service, in college, and working with what I love.

Actually a xbox 360 would be doing your TV justice

Is that supposed to be a display model of the galaxy s2 or the galaxy note?

its a GS2 display, we dont have one for the galaxy note, we were going to be getting a big foam cutout of the Galaxy Nexus but alas we never received it

I didn't notice the size comparison because I was on my phone when I saw the pic. I thought the HTC phone on the wall was an actual phone for size comparison...that cardboard cutout is a hella lot bigger now that I see it. Was that from the big II display in the window?
I actually had a customer come in with an unlocked Note... it is truly the "phablet" that Engadget said it was... Just rediculous in size, but I am sure people have said the same for the Epic 4g Touch, I am looking forward to getting an unlocked international GS2, I can't wait!

You're going to use at&t? I like the size of my E4GT. I wish I could get something a little bigger just for the car. Waze looks puny on the screen compared to a regular GPS.
