is that the only alternative solution? i was wondering if a software would do and repair it, since software also possible damaged it. i was hoping you guys could help me before i sent it back. any way thanks for your help.

Try contacting Jinx13 http://forum.xda-developers.com/member.php?u=4002805
He uses a remote method to unlock bootloaders and such for xperia phones. I've heard this method can also be used to unbrick phones, which is most likely what you've done.
PM him, or get his email off his profile. I may be wrong, but it's worth a shot.

thanks, Got it working though....I used S1tool with semc patch and did the ground to test point thingy. after a few tries... the network just showed up. I can now use the simcard.

How To Root Samsung Continuum

Hi,
The Samsung Continuum is rooted courtesy Z4Root One Click App. You can either get it from official thread here or follow the instructions posted here. don't know if there are any custom ROM for continuum yet.

Or you can just download it from the Market, and run it...
Z4root is down from the market. I don't really about other countries, but here keyword search is showing nothing as Z4root. Can you please check if Z4root is available in your market?

I stand corrected... I just downloaded it from the market about a week ago so I assumed it was still there. It is gone now.
No word on any developers working on ROMs for this thing yet...
z4root
I temporarily rooted no problem with z4root, removed tons of Verizon bloatware.

Be careful with that. OTAs may look for all of their bloatware before installing... It could make upgrading to Froyo more difficult.
Can anyone confirm whether the Fascinate Clockwork Recovery works on the Continuum. I read on another forum that it does, but would like some better confirmation before I try it out....
Of course, that doesn't really matter until we get some ROMs going..... Please, devs, we need you....
Continuum ROM
I have the source code from Samsung and would work on a ROM if someone could get me started. This is my first Android and I rooted with Z4. I deleted a bunch of Verizon crap and now am having outgoing text messages not getting to some recipients. I would love a stock ROM.
I came from using the Nexus One. XDA forums for that device were loaded with devs and goodies. I miss all the action and running Cyanogen ROMs.
What ROMs are best for the other Galaxy S devices? I'd offer a small donation to get the ball rolling.

I for some reason cannot root using z4root. Have downloaded it from here and also the Market on the Samsung Continuum and it does not seem to work. After installing and loading, touching permanent/temporary root seems to have no effect. The 'loading' graphic sits there and the app hangs at running the exploit. Sometimes it even locks the phone to the point where I can only get it to respond by pulling out the battery.
USB debugging is enabled on the device running: 2.1-update1
Build number SCH-I400.DJ20
If you need any other info (or if I am missing something) let me know.
It took me a few tries, but I was successful with the temporary root.

Don't know if it actually did anything, but it finally worked for me when I turned the screen off. Don't see how that would affect it, but that's how it worked for me.

texting issue
HI All,
I posted above about having texting issues after removing bloatware. It turns out that it was the way Google was adding a +1 to my phone numbers. Back to customizing. Z4 worked for me.

Seems to be par for the course with z4. Something randomly done or happens with the phone and by some sort of divine intervention or coincidence it's then rooted.
I also had issues with z4, hardlocked the phone the first time. Second time it FC'd. Third time I was waiting and got a text message. As I was replying to it, z4 popped back up and said rebooting phone. It rebooted and it was rooted.
I actually got it to work after trying and trying and trying. Now to find a Google Quick Search widget that isn't bugged and doesn't stick to the top of the homescreen after clicking on/touching/using it.
Finally got my phone rooted with Z4. Now can't connect to my computer. Gives me the option on whether to use a media card or USB storage. Chose both options (not at same time) and neither worked. Am tempted to remove root as it connected prior to rooting. Has anyone connected after rooting? Any help?
Thanks
Not sure what your issue is. I have my phone rooted and have no problem mounting my phone to my PC.

Is it rooted?
Sent from my HTC Sensation using Tapatalk
No. It isn't
I would suppose either try really hard to remember the password, or re-flash the firmware
How would I go about flashing the firmware ?
dont flash the firmware .. but do a hard reset. For instructions on doing a hard rest.. just google how to hard reset xperia play
I tried that and i followed the steps involving pc companion . The only thing about that is it keeps saying Sony Ericcson server overload . No matter how many tries it always says that toward the final steps
Use flashtool and download one of the stock firmwares from the dev section here
Flashtool is pretty easy to use once setup
You can use WotanServer to flash firmware, Slightly more user friendly.
Does usb debugging have to be on ?

With wotanserver you pull the bettery put the usb in then hold the search button then put the battery and it will boot in to fastboot or something and it will flash it that way, so I would imagine it would not need to be on, I don't know since I have USB debugging on all the time. Flash tool and Wotan do the same thing, and both have instructions before it starts flashing.

Sounds useful. Do you have a link that would take to download wantonserver ?
Why dont you try reinstalling the firmware from pc companion. Just go to software update and repair your software...
Sent from my R800i using XDA App
Go with wontanserver since its easy and you can pick any firmware version you want and it will download and flash it for you with 1 click
Wontanserver costs money plus I'm not sure if it works for the Verizon cdma Xperia play
It's much easier if you sit there for hours trying to guess the password.... How did you forget it??? It's something your unlocking at least once per hour....

Wotanserver does not cost any money at all its totally free and it does have the cdma firmware on it. Maybe you should just check it out before down playing it

Yes it costs if you want to have it unlocked but that's not the case here flashing is 100% free for SE phones and if he wondering about "other" phones this is the wrong place!

How to fully remove android virus? Please someone help me.

The infected phone is an xperia x8 with stock android 2.1update 1. There is !nothing! instaled from the play store and i have never installed any apps from sd. I cant imagine how could it infect my phone. It wasnt even connected to a gmail account. It makes calls, writes text messages with random chatacters in it. Furthermore it makes randomly fake touches on the screen so it's hard to do anything with it. I've already made a hard reset and installed avast and zoner antivirus but none of them finds any viruses. Any ideas? I'm planing to reinstall the rom but if the factory data reset didnt help i dont really think it would make any change... please help someone i'd really apreciate it.thanks

It's not a virus but a faulty digitizer. You can get it repaired from ASC.
Btw, wrong forum.
Sorry i just noticed that i posted in the defy general thread. How can i delete this thread? Sorry for being so noob

Are you sure? It unlocked the screen lock opened the dialer amd called numbers. I dont really think it's the fault of the digitizer.

Camera: Unknown error by ErrorCallback

Hey guys,
I have a used Ace 2 that I recieved today and I'm getting that error when I launch the camera app. Doesn't seem to have been rooted or anything wrong. Tried factory reset, clearing caches, memory card, taking location off settings and third party apps. Nothing seems to work. Any ideas?

Go to the shop to replace it
Sent from my Galaxy Ace 2 i8160
Which shop? I literally never go into town and don't think there are any samsung repair shops nearby. Also it's a used unit, so I guess may aswell just forget it or buy a whole new unit.. Does not feel like a software issue though.
Where did you bought it?
Edit: sorry, i just realized that it is used. What firmware does it have?

Oops; forgot about this thread. Thank you for taking your time to reply btw.
I'm not too sure which one is the firmware number but here is a screenshot of KIES which shows it:
http://i.imgur.com/q5RUG.png
and here's a screenshot of the about phone part in android:
http://i.imgur.com/C0PXI.jpg
As you can see from the android screenshot, it is rooted and I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2006183 - haven't had the time to flash anything else or do any other tweaks really. I'm not too sure what the issue is; the flashlight app does seem to work but very slowly as in the control is slow and sometimes it doesn't connect to the actual flash thingey with random errors. That Zoom MX app doesn't work either with a blank viewfinder and nothing happens when you press the take picture button.
That!s XXLK7 the newest firmware. Try to reflash stock rom. If it still doesn't work you have to replace the unit.

Bleh, tried that just now through the one at Sammobile. Unfortunately same problem, idk what's wrong. But I can't replace it as it's used, unless I spend another £150 which will take me like 5 months to earn..

Some different variables i have for you that might be causing it....
1.Kernel.
2.Rom
3.The way you flashed it Clean/dirty
4.What device he has
5.if he/she fiddles around and has custom roms installed too then those variables above could be effecting their transfer of nfc
Hoped i helped buddy

thanks for the input man.
kernel is the underwear one. that comes with tasks rom
clean flashed
and stock s3 no mods on my friends phone
so it has to do with my phone
Try installing NFC Task Manager or another free NFC app from the Play Store. Sounds like your phone is looking for an app and can't find it, so it is deferring you to the market.
