[Q] what process do I use - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hey just wondering what process I go through to install FoxHound 1.1 Black Ed. 4.0.4.
I would like to keep all data on my phone if possible?
I am running 4.0.2 Android revolution HD2.1.2 GSM.
I believe it's running James Bond kernel 3.0.8-Gaaa2611 dirty [email protected]
base band 9250SCOLd.
Did all this side a while ago and just hoping someone could give me the run down on changing to this ROM?
Do I need to completely reset my phone to stock and start again or can I just install this ROM over and keep all my contacts, photos and settings?

If you're changing ROM a full wipe is in 99% necessary. For the 1% just do it to be sure.
To keep the data I recommend that you're using Titanium Backup. It's the best app for keeping
your data backed up.
But don't back up any system apps. Just your personal apps otherwise you could run into problems.
Contacts and calender data aren't a problem if you stored them in the Google Cloud.
The pictures shouldn't be affected but make a back up just in case.
BTW.
If you're changing ROM always perform a full wipe/ factory reset in the recovery. You can avoid many problems if you're doing so.
If you're upgrading your ROM wiping cache and dalvik should be okay. But always follow the devs instruction if he says otherwise.

[Q] Unable to answer incoming calls

Currently running Virus' 8/25 rom and I can answer calls when my screen is unlocked. However when my screen is locked it shows the call coming threw as I am already on the phone with them with only a hang up bottom or to pull up the dial pad. Should I just wipe my phone and reflash to see if that fixes it or is there an easier solution? Thoughts, ideas, comments?
You can try reflashing without doing a full wipe - just wipe cache & dalvik. This will undo any changes you've made to the system (kernels, themes, etc) but retain your data. I'd at least try that before a full wipe.
If the problem persists then try a full wipe and reflash. If you've restored any system data related to the phone through Titanium Backup, that could cause problems as well. You can try wiping whatever system data you restored in relation to the problem.

Will definitely give that a try. Thanks

[Q] not performing data wipe/factory reset before flashing ROM

I noticed that in every single ROM thread it says to wipe data and factory reset before flashing..
but one time i forgot to do it and just wiped cache then flashed a new ROM, and so on, and so on..
After i booted my phone i noticed that all my data and settings was exactly how it was before i flashed the new ROM..
i have done it this way with Juggernaut 5.0 and SlickMod 3.6 RC1 and never experienced a bug or anything unusual by doing it this way.. (although every time i tried an ICS ROM I followed the instructions perfectly)
it sure saved me a lot of time setting up my phone again
my question is ... has anyone seen bad results by doing it this way?
Theres more to it than that. The problems arise when you flash system data on top of another rom's system data. The ROM maker may have put tweaks in that mixed with another ROM's tweaks could cause unwanted effects. For example, TDJ builds his roms and kernal specifically for his roms, and states if you use another kernal his tweaks wont work.

[Q] Sleep death and random reboots in BB 4.1.2

Recently switched back to Bugless Beast 4.1.2 from mmuzzy 4.2.1 as well as switching from CM to TWRP for recovery. I'm seeing a lot sleep deaths and random reboots that I never saw prior to going to 4.2. Could it have something to do with some 4.2 settings getting restored by TB? Could my batteries coincidently just be dying(I have 3 batteries I switch out so I'm not tethered to a charger)? There is no pattern that I have noticed for sleep death or reboot.
When going back to 4.1.2 I copied my :SDcard" to my laptop, used WUGs Nexus tool kit, to completely wipe the system, restore the latest VZW image, root and re-install BB, then copy SDcard data back then restored apps via TB.
Tonight I'm re-flashing BB but only going to restore a few apps data to see if that helps. Using stock BB kernel.
Thoughts? Ideas?
Thanks

Have you used TB to restore some system apps and system settings? If it's the case that's why you get unstability since TB is good to restore user apps but not system and setting, even more if you're switching between two different Android version! IMHO try a clean install restoring only user apps and you're ok!
EDIT: If it doesn't solve maybe a new kernel could help!

Strange occurence of phone constantly restarting.

Hello,
I have owned a Sprint Galaxy S III since August of 2012 and have been using it pretty much flawlessly until this week.
To give some history, I rooted it once it became a common thing to do and have CWM-based Recovery v5.5.0.4.
I have loaded many different roms - cyanogenmods, m.o.a.r., wicked, miui to try out and many others and have never had an issue.
I recently upgraded to M.O.A.R. v 6.0 at home and everything seemed great - loaded apps, settings, etc. The next day on the way to work, the phone restarted by itself. I thought was strange but chalked it up to a new rom issue. When I got to work, the frequency of the issue increased to the point that the phone was no longer usable as it would just continue to restart, boot, etc.
Restoring the rom I previously had did nothing to help the issue.
I looked up online at possibilities and came across the SD card issue. I replaced it, but still occurs. I've tried a few different roms and no matter what, it seems to continuously boot and restart based on certain locations that I am in or am passing through.
Today, I turned off 4G LTE as preferred mobile network and it seemed to keep the phone on. I have not done extensive testing, but could this be an issue? I am able to use 4G LTE at home with no problem as well as other areas, but it seems that once I am in or pass through certain locations, that it is crashing my phone? Maybe the GPS?
Are there any tips or suggestions of what I can do or try? I am at a loss as to how to fix this when it has not been an issue up until this week after flashing to MOAR v6.0. I've wiped data, cache, dalvik, many times and retried but still is happening.
Any feedback would be much appreciated.
At first it sounded like sudden death syndrome (a power button failure) but when you said turning off 4G fixed it that is very weird. Have you tried asking in the M.O.A.R thread?

Could be your kernel. Or any kernel tweaks you are using

Are you restoring any System Data ? I would suggest doing a Clean install. Meaning a FULL Wipe : System - Data - Dalvik - Dalvik Cache - Factory Reset ( 3x's ) . I also like to wipe Internal Storage. But that's up to you. Then Flash the Rom, and let it Boot. Do not load anything, or tweak anything. Just leave the device alone for the first 5min. Then test it to be sure everything is working correctly before loading apps, or doing any settings.
Just to update...
I clean installed MOAR 6 again - this time I upgraded CWM to latest version. I clean wiped data/cache, cache, dalvik about 3 or 4 times. Once it reinstalled, I noticed the data wasn't working at all so I did that ##72786# (forgot numbers off top of head) that reactivated phone. The data came back and I thought this was going to solve all the issues...keep in mind I did all this in the evening from home last night.
On the way to work this morning, sure enough once I got in the vicinity of work, phone restarted a few times. I was quick enough to catch it one time to turn preferred mobile networks to 3G first and disable 4G... my phone has not restarted for the rest of the day.
It's great that it seems the issue is isolated to 4G, but I don't understand how it can be fine in some areas and not in others. For instance, at home, 4G works just fine.
I think I will try to go back to stock or try an aosp rom. I've seen in some places talk of MB1 and MD4...is there a way to tell which I have or is that related to anything?

Actually, yes - I have been putting my gmail account information in and it has been syncing the apps. It's just so odd because I haven't had issues for over a year and I don't recall installing any new stuff.
well, now it happened at home when turning on 4g... damn.

You did not mention wiping system. If you do not Wipe system, and also Factory Reset then it's really not a Clean install. I would still suggest a FULL Wipe, and Clean install. Then run the Device for a while without adding anything. See how it performs.
I ended up just flashing this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099 to stock with flash reset.
I am not sure about wiping system - I always just follow the steps of the rom wipe data/cache/dalvik. I will have to research on how to wipe system.
If you never wipe system you are definitely going to run into problems.

You just do it in Recovery before you flash. If you look at my Sig on a PC / Internet Mode there is a link on how to do Full Wipe before flashing a Rom.

[Q] n7105 tock android 4.3 nordic: bluetooth problems

Hello everybody,
I'm running the latest stock Android 4.3 on a rooted Note 2 with CWM installed. What happens is that when I use the phone to make or receive phone calls (streaming music is ok instead) in my car (but I experienced the same problem in another car) the Bluetooth all of a sudden goes off and I need to either turn the screen on or toggle the bluetooth button.
Any idea on how to fix it?
Thank you,
Davide
Hi! Have you tried a Factory Reset? It will wipe your phone clean, so back-up your stuff first. Come back after with the results, maybe this will fix the Bluetooth issue.

Actually I wanted to avoid that...
Okay, so let's try something else first and see where it leads: Go to CWM and make a Nand Backup. Then wipe your Cache and Dalvik Cache. Reboot and test. Most probably this will not solve, but it's worth trying. Get back in CWM and this time wipe Data + Dalvik + Cache (Factory Reset basically). Boot and test. If not working, you can restore the Nand Backup to get back your apps and data. If it is working, well, lucky you, you'll have a great time installing all your apps back
