Today I found a picture of the T989 before it was released to T-Mobile and there were no carrier logos or manufacturer logos on the front. I would've loved for my phone to look like that.

To sad we know branding is everything
It's like a painting that some graffiti kid scrawled their stupid gang sign on. It was a beautiful work of art until it the carrier came along, defaced it and pumped it full of spy/bloatware, as if Google's spyware wasn't enough to begin with..

+1 gazillion pounds of butter
Telus version only has the samsung logo and thats it.
I agree. They just have to mess it up with a bunch of branding on it.
Yeah it looks really nice with the logos on front
Yeah I prefer no names too. I debadged my car first thing when I got it, I wish there was a way to debadge my phone too. It may be possible with a replacement screen, though it'd probably be expensive. I replaced my HD2s digitizer with an unbranded one & it looks pretty slick

Problem is , it is the CPU interface to the radio on the cpu in the og gs2 that is not capable of handling the speed, not the baseband or radio ....
That is the reason they changed the CPU and not just the radio ...
if you got an unlocked international SGS2, even if it had a 4g radio in it, the cpu/chipset cannot handle the speed ..

This phone could have had the exybos processor, but TMO wanted it to have the 42 mbps download speed (which u can't reach anyways) which is not compatible with the extnos Chooser. In other words, tmo took a Ferrari and replaced the internals with a Toyota just to say that it could theoretically be just as fast.

Not really... if this thing is only marginally faster than the USA version (not Exynos), then the international is probably already better. In that respect, it's safe to assume anyway that Samsung will obviously release a way faster S4 anyway.
Also S3 was released a couple months back meanwhile this was released just recently and processor is only marginally faster? Granted, Apple only made it as fast as it needed to be probably
The table doesn't show the US s3, it shows the international with the quad core exynos

Well, I idk if the iphone 5 (technically 6 but who's counting) is the fastest smartphone, but it is the fastest phone running iOS. Put iOS (god forbid) on my S3 or Android on the ip 5 and my S3 will run circles around it.

It'a a Nexus phone. LG won't have anything to do with it except making the phone. All software support will come directly from Google. So gone are the days waiting for LG's updates.

That was a Google Experience phone, meaning it was just stock Android from LG.
This is a Nexus device, so all support will come from Google, and not LG.
It's an insane deal, but no LTE or microSD expansion is a real turn off...
I am thinking about it but im leaning more towards the no
The main UPS:
The Display (no matter if LG sucks, They make the best displays hands down. no argument there)
Processor (Well the S3 is pretty smooth so)
Battery life (Friking 15 hours talk time! TALK ABOUT OPTIMIZATION)
***if you really think about it, those are the things that mainly drive us to what we consider a "good" phone.
The Main Down:
Its made by LG (and for those who say google deals with everything, um about that. My nexus 7 had to get serviced by Asus not Google..correct me if im wrong though)
No SD card slot (Although we know all nexuses are like this we pray one day Google releases a Nexus with SD expand ability)
T- Mobile 21mbps HSPA+ (Comon really??? So my 18Mbps down would drop
Personal Preference: APT-X ( I have apt-x BT headphones and i know the sound difference between the apt x codec and SBC codec)
Its a good device, but I may keep the s3. I am drooling on that nexus 10 though. Maybe next year
Can someone confirm that Gizmodo has their facts straight and that this phone will be unlocked for $300?!?! surely thats not right. Then we could all sell our GS3s and get this phone for free and have money left over 0.o
EDIT "Great value
We’ve always focused on building great devices at great value. And we think today’s devices offer the very best that money can buy. Here are more details on when and where you can pick up your next Nexus device:
Nexus 4: 8GB for $299; 16GB for $349; available unlocked and without a contract on 11/13 on the Google Play store in the U.S., U.K., Australia, France, Germany, Spain and Canada. The 16GB version will also be available through T-Mobile for $199, with a 2-year contract (check here for more details)."
AHHHHH FREE FLAGSHIP PHONE!!!!
299 at the play store with no contract for the 8gb,

Lmao. G2x wasn't a Nexus phone. It just came with Vanilla Android. Spec-wise, the G2X isn't too far from the S3 imo. Besides, Google wouldn't have chosen LG to be the maker of their flagship device for nothing. I love both LG and Samsung, but in my experience and share of phones...i'd take LG for its overall build quality.
With dropbox, box, google drive, etc...I can do without the microSD...if this has a lot of developer support, I'd seriously consider jumping ship...I'm not overly impressed with the SGS III...
What's up everyone? I was on CL trying to find a reasonable swap for my girlfriend to take with her to London in January for a study abroad program for her Psychology program at IUSB. I have an S3 on VZW that I have had since about 1 1/2 weeks prior to release and she has a GNex. She COULD take my phone with her, but she isn't tech savvy, so let's get past that first wave of comments right now.
Anyways, while wondering the wonderful world of CL I found a reasonably priced AT&T S3 (Red), but the sticker on this guys screen says it has the Quad Core CPU. You guys got the Exynos in the red version?

What i believe mrhaley was trying to get at is that there are some contradictory notes here....
1) Garnet Red is an AT&T specific color
2) The only quad-core version of the S3 that also supports LTE is the i9305, which is the International S3, not an AT&T specific one.
3) the i9305 only comes in Black or Silver... not Red, which means it wouldn't be a quad core, rather it would be an AT&T Garnet Red Dual Core that DOES support LTE.

Thought I'd share my thoughts on the N4 vs. the S3
I bought my wife a Nexus 4... if I liked it, I planned on selling my S3 and getting another one for myself.
That way we could share accessories, car docks, etc... there would be some benefit to having the same exact phone.
Anyway... her Nexus 4 was delivered yesterday and I'm not sure that I like it any better than the S3.
The N4 seems bulkier and while the N4 does have a slightly higher resolution than the S3, some of that real estate is used for the soft buttons home, back and recent apps.
So when you have them side by side it looks like the S3's screen is bigger on a smaller device.
The play store is sold out of N4s right now anyway, so I don't really have a choice.
I think once CM10.1 (or any AOSP 4.2 based ROM) is stable there'd be no reason to go from the S3 to the N4 (until 4.3 comes out and you have that 3 to 4 month lag).
Also, my S3 has 32GB and a micro sd card slot.
Ok?
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk
What do you mean, ok? It's the general section. It's alright he didn't ask a question good point FunkyELF. That's how I feel about it too. The difference isn't worth the switch. Just hold on to your S3 until the S4 haha I wonder if they'll get the flex screen stuff working in time for that. I'm so excited for tech in 2013. Happy NEW YEAR!!

There are many things that I don't like hardware wise about the nexus phones, I used to own the nexus one and I was very very happy with it until I lost it, but the new models don't appeal to me like the original did... too bad other android phones get updates only if you're lucky :/
I almost bought an N4 over the S3 until I heard about no wifi calling on the N4 through T-mobile. That plus the lack of expandable storage and glass back of the N4 pushed me towards the S3 and I haven't regretted my purchase at all. Dropped a 64gb Micro-SD in the S3, installed Nova Launcher and BAM..Samsung knows how to make a great phone. I still hate touch-wiz, but any launcher of choice fixes that rather quickly. I really wanted the N4 until I tried the S3 + Nova Launcher.
Same here buddy. I got my gf a N4 and I compared it with my s3. to tell you the truth I figure why would I want a nexus4? If I flash CM on my s3 would be better. The only thing I liked about the n4 is the hardware with the back glass. But Im happy with my s3 and not going to get me a n4.
I agree with you the s3 seems to have more space on the screen.
By the way my gf is getting tired of the n4 she doesnt want to root. So there is no way I can fix what she wants. She says that some apps like bank of america and cnn dont work properly, she hates the fact of not having adobe (even thought i told her I'll put it on and she dont want to, she says that if it was taking off it was for a reason.) Another thing she doesnt like is the speed of the phone browser wise. But anyways I like my s3

Well unless you are on the value plan. Then your price is 500+ $$. That's what drove me to get a gnex prior to this phone. I paid only 250 for it when I paid 529 fory gs2. I paid 549 for this phone and laying it in installments. The nexus four is half that price. So yes it is an advantage.

Well comparing a phone that is actually sold to a theoretical phone "s4" is not a comparison at all. I do think that Google has put out good nexus devices bit obviously not everyone likes what they put out, hence why people choose the s3 or other devices . Those people want SD card support, etc. When I owned a gnex I actually felt at peace knowing I'd be running g the latest and wouldn't have to be refreshing xda forums hoping for a good rom to run. There are reasons I'm on the sgs3 and not in the gnez but its not because it wasn't an awesome phone , but because the features it offered were not as beneficial as what I get from an s3. (WiFi calling, SD card, increased in call volume, media volume. ) I am not going for the "s4." Because Samsung is also towing us along like sheep. Yes I said it. How many of you actually will keep your s3 longer than 1 year? They only care about competing with iPhone.

Lmao "fake" S4...
Google wasn't trying to make an S4, or to even compete with the next generation of the Galaxy line; they wanted to make a high end Nexus device with a low price point so they can gain a higher userbase in their ecosystem rather than giving Apple a chance to herd more people into their's.
It's really not about which is the better device, the S3 or the N4, but rather which device is more suitable. I love the S3 because of its screen size, microSD slot, and the screen saturation. On the other hand, I'd jump at the chance to try out a Nexus 4 because it's pure vanilla with a sharper screen, pure black slate at the front with no branding or logos, and the build quality looks to be able to provide a very premium feel.
That's actually a good point.

Can HTC Sense 4.+ be ported to our device? It says for the I9300 but can it and the t999 be that much different?? Heres the link for it running on the I9300- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSyXOIWibvU
I'm sure it can be ported over, it's just a monumentous pain in the ass. The international ROM can't be used with ours, it will brick you. Totally different processor. It might as well be a different phone.

Oh really? I see. Oh well.. it would have been cool to check it out though.. I actually miss sense a lil bit. Lol

Actually. If it was ported to the international version it may be possible to port it over however I know from experience that a big if is the drivers. Obviously HTC does not make drivers that are made to be compatible with Samsung phones. Therfor getting it to work properly with the hardware is a *****.

Its still a wip for the galaxy nexus.....actually its dead now......it has been dead for awhile.
The closest youll get to sense on the U.S. variants of the S3 is a theme chooser theme.

wait... you want sense but you bought a samsung phone. i thought samsung phones ran sense lol
Agreed, but I did buy a Samsung phone to run AOSP on it lol. It is just nice to have them options and fun to show off to your friends and such.
Doesn't surprise me an HTC fan with Samsung, I mean for many people having a SD card and removable battery maybe a deal breaker. T-Mobile had something better than the HoS I may have picked one up

I had the HTC Glacier before my GSIII. I'll more than likely never go back to HTC. I love samsung and touchwiz much more.
I would love to have the new sense 5 from the htc one ported over hehe best of both worlds.

True except the GN was lacking a lot and I was gonna get the N4 but I need a removable battery and prefer more then 16 GB.
Last time i ran sense was on my HTC Desire CDMA. There is hardly anyone developing for the CDMA version.. plus internal memory was.. what.. 140 something mb?? lol I just got my S3 about 3 months ago and already the S4 is coming out. But yeah.. it would be great to have more options. Hell.. it'd be awesome if we could flash any rom from all devices.... i'd be craazy flashing! lol
I haven't ran it since the g1/mytouch3g
