Hi My GNex is rooted.... and I've been running a Modoco ROM for 3 months with no problems. Recently I flashed his latest after a wipe and reset.... it worked fine for a day until this morning when I get continual reboots!
I wiped again completely tonight and installed AOKP ROM and it was fine for an hour or so, now its started rebooting again... what should I do?
Should I try and return it to Samsung... I'm guessing I'll have to flash stock and unroot (if thats possible?)
Thanks
What stage does it get to before it reboots again? (Google Logo or Animated splash or in the OS?)
mine on stock done it and now on google logo, re flashing stock images now, takes the piss abit.
These things happen. Frequent nandroid backups are highly recommended
It boots to the OS, then its fine for 30 minutes... reboots, then typically the reboots start to become more and more common!
I've just tried the superwipe script and reflashed again. I'll try going to stock otherwise.
I did a Nandroid by when trying to recover it said there was a check-sum error or something!
Did it say there was an error restoring data?
This happened to me, essentially the data partition had become corrupted, and no amount of custom ROM flashing would help. I had to flash stock images to fix, as I could not restore any back ups I had made.
Make sure you back up your SD card contents, as it's wiped during a factory image flash.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
I think that's what I'm going to have to do
Though I don't get any messages saying there's an error restoring data!
It sounds like you have an issue with your recovery. Reflash CWM see if that fixes it and make sure its the right version GSM or CDMA!. I'm 90% sure that will fix it. (After that flash rom and wipe data.)
If its a corrupted data partition then MAYBE fastboot oem lock and then oem unlock may fix it.
Just back up your sdcard contents first.
If that doesn't do it then flash the stock images.
So after seeing a Jelly Bean rom on here, I decided to download it and flash it. I did a nandroid backup first and then flashed the rom. Wouldn't boot. Basically it would vibrate with the Google screen then reboot over and over again. Tried to do a nandroid RESTORE and it gave me an error about restoring /data. Tried other backups and they gave me the same error. Tried to flash a completely different ROM and bootlooped on the Google screen. I saw that people were having errors with the TOUCH CWM so I reflashed the nontouch Recovery Image and I am getting the same results. I think I ****ed my phone. I have no other ideas so I am turning to the communty for help with this. I'm out of ideas. PLEASE HELP! Thanks!
Might be a stupid question but did you do the wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik prior to the flash? Just asking...

I'm guessing you flashed the Vicious Version? Same thing happened to me today except it booted for like an hour then shut itself down and never booted all the back up. I had to flash a factory image through GNex Toolkit. I tried all kinds of things; restore a nandroid of cm9, Aokp, Stock, reflashing, nothing. So I hate to say it but looks like your going to be spending some time with fastboot tonight...
I really hope someone can prove me wrong though, cuz factory img wipes everything including SD.

I'm all out of ideas. I've been spending 2 hours on this. This looks like my only option. Even worse for me, I can't access the GNEX Toolkit because I have a Mac. Do you have the file or the link to the file you flashed?

Use fastboot.

Has anyone determined why this is happening with the new JB roms? I got stuck in this situation last night and would love to try again if I could just figure out where I went wrong the first go around.
This is srsly the last time I'm posting this.
Code:
adb pull /data/media/ /SDBACKUP/
To get your SD contents back.
Then fastboot flash back to stock.
JB changes the directory that your data resides in...which seems to be why many are having problems.
I, however, have swapped back to an AOKP nandroid just fine.
I have a Verizon GNex, Toro. I was running PA 3.60 4.2.2 and all was fine, but I go the bug for 4.3
I flashed FTL 4.3 rom for toro, had it booted up the first time, and was loading apps and setting up my phone, when it froze after about 15 minutes and I had to pull battery.
I tired to reboot but it got stuck on Google logo for 10-15 each time, nothing would happen, so I wiped and tried to restore my old backups, all of them failed, i try to restore everything but data and is it says successful in TWRP (v2.5.0.0) but when I go to reboot system it hangs again on the Google logo for long periods of time, I've waited upwards of 15 minutes.
I still have the PA 3.60 files in my downloads so I tried to wipe and flash it back on my phone, again it hangs at the Goggle logo and wont go past it.
I can get to the bootloader, I can get to TWRP, but nothing else.
Any advice on what I should try next?
Do I need to flash a stock image? I'm at work at the moment so I will have to wait till later to do it, but at home I have a Mac, which makes things that much more confusing for me.

Did you flash the new bootloader before you tried to flash the 4.3 ROM? I've heard that it is unnecessary but I would highly recommend using the bootloader designed for the current version of Android. What were the exact steps you took to flash the new 4.3 ROM?
I'm beginning to suspect that people are either getting bad downloads or the data cables being used are not working properly which is causing bad flashes. This is just speculation, but I am using the data cable supplied with my phone and have yet to have one single problem flashing the 4.3 ROM.

No, I did not flash a new bootloader, I followed the FTL steps he posted except for wiping cache and davilk cache.

I downloaded the files directly from chrome on the phone. Is that a problem? That is how I have done most of the ROM's I have ever downloaded.
Try this..
Boot into recovery
Factory reset
Wipe dalvik/cache
Install ROM
Install Gapps
Install SU zip
Reboot
The first boot can take a few minutes so be patient. You'll sit at the "Google" screen for a minute or two then the "android" boot animation for 2-5 minutes. I also wouldn't recommend restoring any backups as I ran into some issues doing this. If you can get the ROM to boot do a fresh install of all your apps from the Play Store.
I never flashed the bootloader and I have had zero problems with flashing and booting 4.3. I dont know what people are doing to have issues. One thing I can think of is after flashing everything and you select restart device, it gives you this option that doesnt usually show up. I cant think of the wording. Something about "erasing flash something or other". there is a whole list of "No" and one line of "erase....". Are people clicking the option to erase and get problems from it? I always just select to go back and it restarts.

My next suggestion is going to be a /system wipe. Not sure If you want to go this route but if you choose to (at your own risk)..
Boot into recovery
Factory reset
wipe dalvik/cache
wipe /system
install ROM
install Gapps
install SU zip
reboot
As a warning if this doesn't work you will not have a booting system. You will be forced to reinstall an older factory image via fastboot.
Do you have a 4.2.2. ROM saved on your SD card that you can install? It might be a good idea to get a booting system first before trying anything else from this point on.
Still nothing works, I formatted all data and do not have an OS at this point.
When I get home I will adb sideload a 4.2.2 rom and gapps (Most likely Mmuzzy for the time being) from my mac and install it in TWRP. I've done this before and it should work and get me out of this mess.
Thanks for your help.

did it work? i am also having this problem but when i go into my bootloader it tells me my device is tuna even though its a toro if that matters. and to make things wierder when i try to adb it says i dont have fastboot even though i had it less than 3 hrs ago when i was flashing the rom.(supernova) it worked then i shut off and rebooted the next morning and i just get stuck at the google logo. if anyone can help me i would appriciate it.
So this is the weirdest "brick" I have ever experienced. My phone was working flawlessly with a TWRP recovery and a slightly modded mostly stock ROM. I was playing around modding the stock MMS app, SecMms.apk, and flashing it through recovery. One of these flashes did not complete successfully. I got to the lockscreen, but it would not respond. And there was no network connection. So I figured something got screwed up. I rebooted into recovery and flashed a stock ROM. Boot loop. I got back into recovery and performed a factory data reset, erased everything, flashed a stock ROM. Boot loop. I downloaded a completely stock ROM with stock recovery, stock everything. Got into download mode and flashed it through ODIN. Boot loop. Well, actually, the initial boot got a screen where I could see the taskbar with time and no-service indicator; the rest of the screen was black for a minute; then I got a popup window stating that "Process system is unable to continue" and asking if I wanted to wait of close it. Then it boot looped. I tried booting without a SIM card and an external SD card - same result.
So, to recap - I can get to Download Mode, and ODIN, but anything I flash, including completely stock ROM boot loops.
I am at a loss as to what to try next. If anyone has ideas, I'm willing to try just about anything. I'm gonna take it to T-Mo store tomorrow to see if they can do anything with it...

Go into recovery mode and do a complete wipe including "Factory Reset", wipe data, wipe system,
wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and then if you have a working nandroiod backup restore it.
If you don't have a nandroid backup then go into download mode and flash the official stock
firmware for the N900T phone from http://SamMobile.com
Either one of these two options will get your phone back up and running.
Good luck!
I have already done all of the above, and...no go. Even stock firmware from SamMobile boot loops. Unfortunately, I do not have a nandroid backup, so that's the one thing I cannot do.

Google zedomax you will find his website for unrooting note 3. Will walk you thru with ever step.
It is no longer rooted after I have flashed stock firmware/ROM from SamMobile. Believe me , I have tried all the known methods of returning this phone to stock/unroot. I have flashed through recovery when I had custom recovery. I have flashed through ODIN. So far I have been unable to fix the issue. I am thinking my internal storage is corrupt, or the partition is corrupt. Anyone knows of a way to rebuild/repartition internal storage?

Did you try the "boot loop fix" flashable? It's essentially a script that sort of recreates the efs partition in recovery. It's been linked a few times in the twrp thread, and there may be a thread dedicated to the topic (search for "brick loop") - I don't have the links handy though, apologies.
The mans right^ that helped me out through my "soft brick". Totally out of the blue. Wasnt even messing around with anything I didnt knew I was doing

The method is outlined in the OP of this thread but the flashable version of what is outlined there can be found in this thread - hope that helps!
Thanks. I'll give it a go after work.
UPDATE: All is well in the world again. Thanks everyone for all your help. Thanks dwitherell ! The thread you pointed me to was the solution!
help! lol
my dilemma, i updated to 4.4.3, rooted, created a nandroid backup.
then i installed viperone 2.5
all going well till phone stopped sending texts (ee update fault, common fault)
after checking solutions all say factory reset, did that, phone booted, but i couldnt log into google, kept saying could not connect to servers
thought ive had enough, restore my nand, and now its stuck on load screen, been left for 15 mins and no joy, i can still get into twrp but im at a loss at what i can do.
twrp wont let me mount internal storage so i can send another backup, only mounts sd card
s-on so limited options

If you can get into recovery, you can get into your bootloader. Flash a new ROM using ADB.
Also, only factory reset as a last resort. There's usually a way to fix stuff without resorting to that.

i thought flashing a new rom on the m8 required the firmware setup?
so i can just reinstall viperone 2.5 again?

so from where i am now i can just go to twrp and install android rev 21? or do i have to use adb sideload?
is 21 even compatible?
i swore i wasnt gonna mess on with this phone.........

You sure can. The newer firmware is needed for 4.4.4 ROMs. If you had 2.5, reflash it. It will work with the newest firmware as well. Just not the old stuff.
Here's a pointer: A dirty flash of the ROM you are currently running will reset your tweaks, and often fix problems you are having. When I start having glitches, I first reboot. If that didn't work; and I can't find a solution on XDA easily, I reflash my ROM; the dirty way. It really does help to clear up stuff, especially if you are using themes and tweaks.
Sadly didn't work.
Will have to use one of the stock na droid backups from the collection on here once the thread is up and running again
How do I access phone memory to copy the backup over? I only have boot loader and twrp

In TWRP, you can manage files easily.
Click advanced > file manager
There you can copy files, move them and change permissions. Plus deleting and renaming them.
