I just accidentally found another way to close the notifications menu.
Sorry if this is already known.
Usually to close the notification pull down, I flick it up or drag it up, but a few minutes ago I noticed that if I perform the same pull down motion again, notification will close.
That's all I got; so if even one person learned something new, then I'm happy.
Thanks, veritasaequita

Took me 3 reads to understand what OP was saying. Tl;dr easily readable version.
Nice trick

I tried and got nothing. Pretty sure you were just swiping down and accidentally hitting the back button.

Yeah he either hit the home or back

It's probably because he hit the status bar at the top. When the notification menu is pulled down you can tap the status bar and it will collapse back to normal.
It's working for me good find...

I'd try it but I don't have my E4GT anymore. FML :/

That's pretty cool, I didn't know about this. Thanks for posting.
Edit. Yeah, it's because you're hitting the status bar.

Its because you touch the bottom bar of the pulldown window. all it needs is a tap.

Yep. If you tap bottom of pull down or status bar it will go back up. Has nothing to do with swiping.
If you use a alternative instead of touchwiz u can have custom methods to open then notification bar also. But everyone knows this one i believe

Yeah when I was using Launcher pro plus, I set the home button to open/close notifications (and to go to home screen when not on the home screen). Actually like it that way but I also like Touchwiz, wish I could get the same options with Touchwiz.
thats freaken awesome dude thanks! I have a problem trying to get it back up sometimes without clear button. so thanks for the find!
Good find. Thanks man

well your half correct...yes u can tap the bottom (which just makes it roll back open) "OR" you can swipe downward from the very top and it will instantly close. also it doesn't matter how far you swipe, its going to close regardless.

You don't gave to Swype down. Once you have the notification open a simple tap on the status bar will do the trick.

Good tip! I have removed it~
dco it took a couple minutes for me to figure it out too. you have to hold it so it vibrates like you were going to rearrange them. then you can let go. only the verizon button should be lit up. then you put your finger on it and drag it up under the part where it says press and hold icons to rearrange. it should move there instead and then press back

The key is to bring the app right up to the top left because that is where the app is going. if you don't bring it to that perfect spot were it's going to be it won't take. this help me out a lot thanks but I think this should clear up anyone's confusion. Thanks OP as well, great find all around. man I miss root.
This method also works for other HTC Sense apps that have a similar scrolling
You can do this in Message and Voicemail (even though there is nothing to remove I wanted to remove voice mail), People (Removed online directories), Mail (removed nearly everything), Music (added Genres), News, Quick Lookup, Gallery(remove Flicker), Friend Stream, and when you click on your clock
wont work for Mobile IM
Dude that is amazing! But if you delete something is there a way to re-add it? Sorry if I sound dumb I don't have the Inc2 yet but will next week.

Just wondering for those of you who have the device already, have you guys found some neat features/tricks using 4.0 that haven't been documented or heavily advertised?
I would love to make a list of these features for other users to explore...
Lets get this started
List:
Reserved........
I know it's documented, but it was still a surprise to me - you can now finally delete apps straight from the app drawer, by dragging them just as if you were going to place them on the desktop, but then putting them in the recycle bin on the top.
No affiliation with apple. Or siri.
Sent from my samsung gt i9250 which is in the wrong country.
Nobody's talking about the search app. It's way better than the one in Gingerbread. Much easier to find stuff in your phone : music, app, sms, docs, etc. The old one was returning web search suggestion in 90% of the result... useless.
Search in browser let's you edit suggestion if you want to add something to it. But we lost popular web site suggestion
Just read it on Pocketnow but you can make folders in the favourites bar. Apologies if obvious.
When in the stock browser and you change orientation, tap the screen to make it rotate.

which runs TouchWiz, so it's not stock Android
Rotate the phone to the right whilst in any stock app (so the speaker grill and front camera are on the right). Notice that the back, home and task switch buttons have moved to the top of the screen so that they stay on the right.
When using an ics app hold down on an icon in the action bar to get a description of what it does

Not heavily advertised, but it should be:
The quick control in the browser. Almost the same as on honeycomb. Activate it in the labs settings of the browser. Love it!

NICE find! Thanks!
This is known about, however you said undocumented and I haven't a single document for the Nexus/ICS apart from on one which came with the phone, telling me how to fix the battery.
Hold the volume down and power key, and you take a screen capture. Which is very handy on occasions
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
If you tap the volume button which makes the volume bar appear, you can then press the icon to the left of the volume bar and it toggles between ring and vibrate.

In settings/about phone. Tap repeatedly on the android version number (4.0...) then a little android appears. Keep ur finger on it and it grows into a screen animation.
If u didn't know about this,I guess u r now thinking this is a joke. Or is it?
Need someone to test; try swiping the web pages up/down using 2 fingers

Hi
I have a weird "lip" that appears on my Note 2's screen sometimes that slides out and shows you more apps you can open.
I'm not sure how this appears - it appears to happen at random. And I have absolutely no idea how to get rid of it unless I restart the phone.
I'm not sure if it is an app that I installed on the phone or it's something that Samsung preloaded on it.
I have attached a screenshot where this "lip" is appearing over the keyboard. It's very irritating as it protrudes over everything you are doing, as shown!
Any help on how to permanently disable this?
Thanks!
That's the multitasking bar and you don't want to permanently disable it in my opinion because it is so damn useful.
You invoke it and dispel it in the same way - long press the back button.
Regards,
Dave

I know the question has been answered but you may not know that if you bring that "lip" up and you hold a app icon you can drag it out and multitask by running two windows. Just a quick fyi.

Ah, I see! Only seems to work with certain apps at the moment though. I can see its usefulness a little now.
What is the point of clicking Edit on the multitasking list and sticking icons inside the "Drag and drop here" section?
I searched but didn't see anything on this.
There is a blue pull tab thing on the left hand side of my screen. I want it gone, but can't find out how to get rid of it.
Thanks!

It allows you to access the multi-window feature of the NII, for accessing 2 apps at the same time.
To be fair its not a particularly well advertised feature and with little to no instruction a lot of people won't know what it is for.
But it is for split screen mode.
You can drag apps to the top of bottom part of the screen from that bar to run two apps side by side.
Why I'm asking this is because of screen burn in. I know the damage is already done, but I'd like to slow down the process if I can. I know of different ways to slow it down but it will always eventually happen. Maybe for an upcoming version of android, Google or whoever could come up with a theme that didn't always have static images when you're using the phone, thus helping with screen life. Another alternative could be that there's a black bar in the notification area and you have to pull it down to see the different stats that are there currently. Top edge slide down is where the time, signal, connection type, battery, GPS and any other stuff. Bottom edge slide up could be the self hiding app drawer. That's just some brainstorming ideas. I have a feeling that the top and bottom are hard baked into the os. There's different kinds of launchers that look different, why couldn't an auto hiding launcher be there instead of a conventional one?
they have the ability to hide launcher? second option from bottom in my pic

I saw that apex launcher can hide the top bar, but I didn't see a way to get at the information if you swiped down on the bar.
I think I found what I was looking for. Go launcher ex has settings that I set that the home screen is completely black. If you slide down gesture, the notification bar appears. If I slide up gesture, the dock appears. If you go the same direction twice, it hides the dock or notif bar. Kinda neat if someone picked up the phone, they wouldn't initially figure out how to operate the phone.
Something I just thought of; while I'm typing this in xda app, the not if bar is showing. I wonder if there's a way to surpress it while using and app. The burn in from the bar and keyboard isn't when the home screen is on, it's when I'm in an app typing or browsing. Hmm...
You could use paranoid android, if in tablet mode you can hold the power button and there will be a thing that hides the statusbar, effectively going into full screen mode
