Just my spare change.
Try clock evolution. Does time, weather, battery, etc
Battery Monitor Widget
That's what I use. It has a few different battery tools in it, and several different widget options.

Has anyone tried one of these? I've seen mixed reviews, and am wondering if anyone has actually used one and had a good experience before i buy it instead of the official one

Only issue is you need a third party app to get an accurate reading. I use Battery Left Widget set to take voltage readings. The battery itself is great.

It's huge and very, very bulky and expensive. I plan on buying the Verizon extended battery. It's not as powerful I believe, but it barley makes a size difference compared with the standard battery. Plus, the VZW battery is a lot cheaper.

The only way you can read battery % is by reading voltage. Thats what all the battery "readers" or apps do. The stock one works fine.
A battery with more capacity (mAh) is read the same way as a normal batter.
I was wondering if anyone knew a good place to get a cheap/good extended battery for the Droid X. Also, how much longer does the Extended battery last than the regular battery? because if its like 2 hours its not worth it. Also, does anyone know where i can get a battery charger (For just the battery without needing phone?) I want to get a second Droid X battery but not if i have to have it in my phone to charge it.
Verizon sells an 1850 mAh battery for around 50 bucks...I've noticed a substantial improvement in battery life using it....you most likely would not need 2 batteries

Battery monitor widget is reporting that the extended battery is 1750mHa. Can someone with the extended battery check what theirs say?
thx
Mine says the same. Got the Extended battery directly from verizonwireless.com
just installed and it reports the same but it also says in big red letters: "Measuring mAh requires a charge cycle of at least 50% for accuracy."
which i didn't do.
Umm. You have to go into the settings and manually set how large the battery is.

note you can also just define a new battery (i did and called it extended) and tell it its 2100mAh
Again, when you go into the settings there is an option that you must manually set to say how large the battery is. Maybe the app doesn't do a good enough job of explaining this. When you first start using the app, the mAh is just a placeholder.

I've seen a similar subject for other phones but not for the GNex. I bought some OEM batteries off eBay and turns out they're fake... not only does the NFC not work but they also put out 3.8 volts where the real battery puts out 3.7... Does anyone know if this is safe to use. I really don't want to jack up my phone from using a bogus battery.
With other phones it seems that the main problem is the battery will not charge fully unless charged in the dock. I've used the battery long enough to check the voltage and if the NFC worked then took it out.

I'm not sure about the gnex specifically. I have an extended battery in my G2 and on "battery widget" it says it's 4.19V, on the battery the label reads 3.7VDC. It is a ebay china battery. I can't say if the widget is accurate or not, but I haven't had any issues on my phone.
Lithium batteries fully charge around 4.2v, 3.7-3.8v is for storing the battery long term. Since at that voltage there isn't much stress on the cells.
Thanks for the info. I'll just have to assume since the guy has sold quite a few of these china batteries that none have blown up yet or else it would have been reported on eBay.

I tried Elixir 2, and Current Widget to see how quickly my charger is charging my Gnex, but both of them wont display the Current.
Anyone know?
Oh, im on Cm10, 4.1.1
Try Battstatt or Android Assistant

The fuel gauge used in the gnex max17040 does not support mAh or mA readings. It only reads volt and temp. Other phones from htc use different fuel gauges that output those values, but most Samsung phones do not since they stick with these fuel gauges.
