[Q] firefirefire bootloop problem can you help? - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have a Kindle Fire that I have successfully rooted and using CM7.
I let the battery completely discharge and since then the device has been stuck in what appears to be a boot loop at the fire fire screen (I have a video of the problem but because this is my first post I am not able to post links, you could find it by going to graham dot doel dot org forwardslash kindlefire)
It won't turn on unless a usb cable is plugged in. When the usb cable is plugged in the apparent loop starts.
This is what I have tried:
1. trying to charge the device.
2. trying a hard reboot. Holding the power button for 20 seconds, doesn't make any difference.
3. connecting via adb, the device isn't seen.
4. Making a factory cable and trying to connect via that, but no joy there, the device isn't detected by the computer (windows or linux)
Could anyone make any suggestions about how to unbrick this device, I have searched high and low and have found nothing that helps or works.
Thank you

the repeatent on/off is typical - what happens:
kf tries to start - battery breaks down - kf tries to start - battery ...
the only solution i know is to charge with the wall charger for some hours (over night)
but if you plug it to the wallcharger it turns on
so press and hold the power button till it turns off to allow the kf to charge

Thanks. Pressing the power button seems to have no effect what so ever. Do you have any other suggestions?

i meant to hold the button till it turns off -> ~30sec
that it is off when on the wall charger
don't know an other solution - worked for a lot of others

I have tried this. the power button doesn't respond. plugged in or not.

Hello !
Same problem for me ... I let the battery completely discharge and since then the device has been stuck in what appears to be a boot loop at the fire fire screen... I plugged it (in the wall) pressing and holding the power button till it turns off to allow the kf to charge but there nothing ie no orange/green light... Do you have an idea?

Same problem here...
Here is my thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22685015

Since it is quite obvious to me the device will never work again due to this POS battery, does any one want to buy it for parts? Or can Amazon repair it, even though its rooted with a custom ROM and recovery?

I have found a solution!
The problem was a power problem. I tired a different more powerful charger and It gave me enough power to turn the unit off and let it charge up.
Hope that works for others.

just for information:
the original charger is 1.8A - you should use one with nearly this power
i use a 1A and it's working fine - nevertheless i think that is the minimum
please mark the subject of the topic (edit first post) with [Solved]

I have this exact same problem on my stock KF. Powers on with wall charger plugged in (no light green or red), immediately shuts down when unplugged. Been through all of the forums guides KFFB and the linked ones by Kinfauns I purchased a factory cable attempting to make it fast boot on computer, no power at all. Doesn't appear to have any effect

I am at my wits end . Is there some type of battery failure that would account for being on charger for hours and not keeping the charge? or since it does boot up would it still be the software not in fastboot to allow a charge??? I plug in the wall charger, press button until it shuts off, and left it for several hours ( one last time going to try longer than overnight)

Kindle Fire Charging Infinite Boot Loop

I installed the AOSP JELLY BEAN 4.1.1_r1 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1765288) the other day and it was working fine. The problem is, I used it too much and the battery died on me. Fine. So I plugged it in to my pc via usb to charge it up. The Kindle fire boots to the TWRP triangle and then instantly shuts off. Well I thought maybe the battery is just really drained so I left it plugged in and went to work. Got home and it was still doing the same thing; boots to the TWRP triangle and then instantly shoots off and repeats. I unplugged the usb and tried using the outlet charger; same thing. Disconnected and tried to turn it on and nothing happens.
Figured I maybe bricked it somehow (even though i didnt update, delete, wipe anything). So I tried using the unbrick command lines...nothing. Tried the KFU cant find my device since it shuts off every 2secs.
I cannot figure out whats going on. Any help is appreciated. Thanks
Plug it into the charger and hold down the power button until it shuts off. Then wait for a 2-4 and check back on it.
Once it boots back normally make sure to update FFF and TWRP.
That didn't work. I plugged it in with the ac adapter and it wouldn't allow me to turn it off (i plugged it in then tried to turn it off). I let it sit for 8hrs and still boots up to the TWRP logo and instantly turns off and wont even turn on without it being plugged in. Thanks
Hold the power button down for 1 min it should shut off
it still does not work
Please post here some detailed instructions to turn on this device.
I'm tired of holding on and buttons in different combinations.
Sorry for bad English
If you have fff 1.4 a there really is no magic combination just simply power it off and plug it in via usb to your computer. If you do not have fff 1.4a then look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1623244
Did u leave it to charge overnight.. cos i also had the same problem, which i primarily due to low battery charge..
Connect it to the charger and let it charge if possible overnight.. then try switching it on.. it shd definitely work
Read the below link.. u will get an idea as to why it is happening

[Q] SM-T700 Froze, Powered off - Soft bricked?

Hey guys,
Appreciate it if you could spare me some advice on how to proceed.
So I was watching a twitch stream and all of the sudden tablet froze, and the audio froze as well causing a large super high pitch noise, I hard-reset the tablet but instead of resetting it just turned off, I started to browse the forums and found that a combination of (POWER + VOL UP & DOWN + HOME) would reset the tablet, now what this did for me is turn the tablet on but it was stuck in SD CARD Mode, back again to the forums, read that letting it discharge fully and then it will be able to be charged and turned on, that worked tablet was back doing some various tasks no video again and then boom freezes again same symptoms except this time I couldn't get it to go to SD CARD Mode its very finicky after trying at various times in the day I finally got it to work, same process except this time as soon as it turned on I went into recovery factory reset it to stock, worked a bit longer this time only installed chrome, and it froze again (don't think it was chrome) , rinse repeat and I flashed the latest firmware with ODIN worked fine, I've gotten to the home screen ran through the "factory new" set up and it turned off of me again.
I plugged it in let it charge, came up with battery icon 5% 10% ect, then I left it for a while, I came back and I cant even get it to show the battery percentage(tap power) let alone turn on.
I'm fairly sure that eventually I can get it turn back on but from there I don't know what to do.
TL;DR - Tablet Froze, Hard Reset, Froze again - Rinse Repeat, ODIN to latest STOCK firmware, tablet worked for 5 min before turning off again (plugged in), present situation
Any ideas as what to be causing the freezing and how I could remedy it?
Also sometimes when it froze it turned itself off without me hard resetting it.
Thanks its been driving me insane,
Please do not hesitate to ask me to clarify or provide more information so I can help you help me.

What would you suggest I do, submit it to warranty ? Will they disregard the fact that knox has been tripped if its a hardware issue ?

I had the loose battery connector problem, but the symptoms do not sound the same as mine. I could get mine to boot up, but the screen would flicker and a few white lines would appear before it would reboot itself. I actually started a ticket with Samsung and got the packaging label but, upon further reading, realized that I was pretty much SOL after tripping knox, and didn't want to risk the chance of getting charged for just sending it in. If it is indeed the loose battery connector, you should be able to remove the back cover yourself and fiddle with it. Ultimately, mine needed re-soldering, and I was able to find a local electronic repair shop to do it for me for cheap.
Good luck!
UPDATE: I've managed to get into SDCARD MODE yet again, except discharging seems to get out of it, but once I plug it back in it doesn't come up charging it just black screen, until I hold some buttons and arrive back at sdcard mode. Good times.
Trying various things to get it to boot..
EDIT: Appreciate the insight Squez, I want to exhaust all the other options before opening it myself, if Knox didn't void the warranty to some degree, opening it up should put the final nail in the coffin.
EDIT2: Good news, sort of, tablet isn't dead! after numerous attempts with charge SDCARD mode, discharge, It finally start to charge properly and I managed to get it to boot, worked for a few hours then I left it to charge, and went to sleep, woke up and wont turn on again, but I am in SDCARD Mode again but need wait for it to discharge from presumably 100% ....
[What do you mean Sd card mode? DOWNLOAD mode?
Also no need to let the battery drain.
Just press VOLUME DOWN(not volume up) and POWER together then hold until it restarts.
This is a hard reset and will ALWAYS work unless the device is hard bricked. It is the equivalent of a battery pull.
I continually see here and there incorrect information regarding key combinations, even in so called guides, this forum is even guilty!
Here is what works on the 10.5lte, as far as I'm aware its the same for all versions, indeed pretty much any Samsung device.
HARD RESET:
VOLUME DOWN - POWER.
Hold until the device restarts.
DOWNLOAD MODE:
HOME - VOLUME DOWN - POWER.
Hold until the device boots.
RECOVERY MODE:
HOME - VOLUME UP - POWER.
Hold until the device boots.

I should of posted a photo earlier but here is one I found on google of same screen: (check attachments)
Except UP KEY and DOWN KEY don't do anything, its just this screen, if you attempt to hard reset ect, it will just reload this screen, hence the discharge, then plug it back in and hope it begins to charge "battery icon appears". I have gotten it to boot like this a few times.

Yeah its strange as.
I'll have a look at that, thanks.
EDIT: It just finished discharging and now I am on the battery screen.. Usually once it charges here I can get it to boot, what I'm curious is what on earth keeps causing it to freeze up, because in download mode and twrp (gone since i flashed stock via odin) it wouldn't freeze at all, only have issues with it once its booted or charging. I installed a logcat earlier hopefully that should shed some light on the situation,
EDIT2: Well another very interesting thing, the official Samsung charger wont charge it, only works if I plug it into pc or use a non-official charger, strange thing is nothing is wrong with the samsung charger or cable since I can charge my phone fully from it. These have to be some of the strangest symptoms.
EDIT3: Only works through USB port on PC for now, non official charger comes with red X on battery once booted. I assume you can work around this once rooted but that's for another time..
EDIT4: Charge through pc to around 2-3%, boot device, plug into official samsung wall charger and it begins to charge properly.
EDIT5: Hooray back to step one, trying get into SDCARD Mode, same thing happened left it overnight and it wont turn on or charge anymore.

i am pretty sure the HOME - VOLUME DOWN - POWER. puts the 10.5 into the sdcard mode.
my tablet is doing very similar to sunb3ar findings.
have had it come back to me once from sdcardmode.. (let if go flat and starting charging then it would start via normal buttons)
it crashed not long after that. it got stuck in sdcard mode again, but this time none of the drain flat, put on charge has worked.. just blank..
fyi- we try to put it in RECOVERY MODE, but it does not work when in this crashed / sdcard mode state
i even disconnected the battery and then plugged back on charge.. nothing..
today i tested the battery volts, 2.8v , for a 3.8v i thought that was ok. i attached my RC lipo multi charger set to 1amp 3.7volt charge, direct to the - + on the battery- got it up to 3.5v, plugged back in, put the charger on- the sdcard mode (most life it has shown in a week).
still not coming up with 'battery' display to say its 'turn-off and being charged'. just the sdcardmode might disappear and return..
i am currently adding mode charge to battery... will try to HARD RESET next.. since i have not tried that combo yet..
HARD RESET:
VOLUME DOWN - POWER.
Hold until the device restarts.
edit: i took it off 'direct' charge, battery at 3.7volts.. then plugged in normal charger, i got a 'battery symbol' but it had the lightening bolt, not a %.. so i unplugged and reconnected to my direct charge to give the battery more volts. i am surprised that the unit seems to think a battery with 3.8volt as it specs seems to not be like with volts not much lower than 3.8.. could be time for a new battery if we can get this thing to restart

VS985 bootloop, not recognizing battery?

Like title says, my VS985 is looping in random ways and sometimes doesn't recognize that the battery is in the phone. Here is an overview:
- While off the charger, it is unresponsive, no buttons work.
- Recovery button combo does not work. I cannot get into recovery at all.
- While plugged in, it shows the battery screen, then reboots into a loop, has a long vibration
- Plug in + power button is a short vibration, I see the LG screen then it reboots to the above loop
- Plug into PC + up button shows the download mode screen then reboots to above loop
- At random times it will display the gray screen as if I plugged it in with no battery
Am I screwed? Wanted to sell this thing but I doubt it now. It was rooted running an older Euphoria build

Not going to buy a new one to attempt it since this isn't even my main device.. However, I left it plugged up in it's battery loop all night and this morning it had booted successfully and the battery was at 100%
I unplugged and powered it off, it's still unresponsive. No buttons work at all. I plugged it back into the charger and it starts the same loop again...........

Exactly the same behaviour with my d855. The last few months were just random reboots here and there, occasionally needing a battery pull. These days it was turning off randomly during use but never while plugged in...now it doesn't even boot while plugged in. Your description matches my experience perfectly.
I've seen quite a few reports of this behaviour, all happening recently...what is going on?

Not sure how to explain it, I don't think it's the battery since it will sometimes boot up correctly. I ordered a new power button flex cable off of ebay when I made this topic, when it gets here I'll post again with the results.
@3dawg the brand new power flex cable solved my problems, which was that the old power button became faulty and was rebooting the phone before it could start anything
after installing the new flex cable, I was able to charge the phone (it was completely dead from rebooting) and now I'm able to use it again

Model G3223 - Charging Issues and Black Screen/Flashing White Light at Boot

Hey everyone,
So, I got a new Xperia XA1 Ultra (G3223) through a trade running stock Android 7.0. Checked everything and initially it looked fine.
Over the last few days, things have been acting weird. Every time I start the device, it gives me a blank (black) screen with a blinking white notification light - it doesn't even show me the boot screen at times when it boots. Just yesterday, I got it to boot by pressing VOLUME UP + POWER after being in that state - but, that's not normal. Does anyone know why in the world my phone does that?
Furthermore, when using the Sony charger that came with the device, it takes over 6 hours to charge and doesn't even show the charging sign while charging. Could this be an Android 7.0 bug or is something seriously wrong with my phone? Only one time since I got it, did I get it to charge normal with the charging sign and everything; it actually charged quite rapidly at that point.
Any help would be appreciated with this, guys, because I'm at a loss. I do want to mention that the device doesn't seem to be recognized by the computer, so I'm not even sure that the cable is original.

Try a new cable and/or charger. (I found I had a bad charger once)
Since you had computer issues, I'd start with the cable. Also check the charging port on the phone for debris/damage.

How is your phone turning on? Power button or inserting the USB cable?
Only thing I can think of is perhaps a stuck volume key placing the phone into recovery or flash mode.
Try turning on the phone with no USB cable attached. Before you turn it on, press the volume keys a few times to make sure they aren't stuck and then power on.

The thing is that it's weird.... For one, sometimes when I use the touch reset/turn off button, it takes at least two minutes to reset, or it doesn't even reset. Then, when I turn the phone on while it's off, the phone sometimes enters into this weird state with the flashing white notification light. I never power on the phone via USB cable, so I don't know, really. Yesterday, I shut the phone off to test it, plugged the phone in to charge it, it wouldn't charge while off, but then hit power on, and then it wouldn't turn on, so I used VOLUME UP + POWER, and then it turned on just fine.
Hi
Happened also to be with my older Xperia J.
Backup your phone (cause you'll lose your data), connect it to a PC (or Mac) and install Xperia companion, then select "repair phone" or something similar (I know the written in Italian version ).
Wait and it will be all fine.

Okay, let me see if I can get it to connect to the computer, and then I'll let you know if I have progress.
I have the same slow charging problem on my xperia xa1 ultra. you could solve it?

Stock Robin won't turn on, what now?

Cross-posting this from r/NextbitRobin
So Tuesday night before bed I went to check my phone (which had been on the charger for the last couple hours and so was at >95%) and noticed the volume button was not responding. I figured something buggy was going on, sometimes I need to reboot my phone every couple of days to get it to work properly (especially if it had run down into low power mode before recharging), so after unplugging it from the charger, I held down the power button, selected reboot, and clicked okay. The phone then proceeded to shut down, but not start back up.
When I tried to start it up again by holding the power button, I got no response initially. Then I was able to get it to buzz/vibrate, but the screen never came on.
I tried holding down the Vol- button and the power button together for 20 seconds to force a reset, and it vibrates a couple of times, but nothing happens.
If I plug it into a charger, I don't see any LEDs illuminate, and it just vibrates approximately every 3 seconds (not continuously, it seems to have some semi-random pattern). If I unplug it, the vibrating stops, but I still can't get it to turn on. It does not seem to make a difference if I am using a wall charger or trying to charge it off my laptop.
I have not rooted the phone or installed any custom ROMS, and have had it since I bought it on Amazon in June of 2017.
Any ideas what might be the issue? Any tips for reviving my phone?
This doesn't seem to match anything I have been able to find with some basic google searching.
Edited to add that I also tried removing the sim card and starting it up without one, but that did not appear to make a difference.
Update: I left it plugged into a wall charger for about 18 hrs and when I came back there was no change in behavior.
This many sound repetitive but lets first get the obvious out of the way so that we are sure you tried the most basic things for sure.
Is there an issue with the cable not able to charge the device? Can you try changing the cable?
Power + volume down for 30 secs / 1 minute / few minutes. This usually helps, sometimes more than 30 seconds for some reason. Try doing it while plugged in.
When you connect to the laptop what happens? Does it power on for a minute or vibrate?
Do you have adb installed on your computer? does you device get detected on your laptop?

Tried charging it with both the OEM cable as well as an amazon basics USB-c cable (both of which had been used to charge the phone successfully in the 24 hrs before it went wonky), no noticeable difference in behavior.
Held the power + volume down buttons for 180 seconds, did not boot. Repeated this with it plugged in (wall charger) and it still did not boot.
When I connect it to my laptop, I get the same behavior of vibrating as when plugged into a wall charger, but it does not boot or power on, nor does the laptop detect the phone in any fashion. I do not have adb installed on my laptop.
Anything else I can try, or is the phone a write-off at this point?
First step to solving any device issue is to somehow boot it and get in any mode possible. Since you can't do that I can't think of any other way to get it working.
I'm having the same issue, phone is not giving me any signs of life...frustrated at the moment
It's a total long shot, but try carefully cleaning out your charge port with a needle or a small pin and a little bit of alcohol. I pulled quite a bit of pocket lint out of mine and it works fine now. It didn't look like it was that dirty, but I pulled out a large ball bearing sized amount.
Other than that the only other thing I can think of is that your battery might be shot. It might have been taking enough of a charge to try and turn on, but not enough to do so.
