Could anyone recommend a screen protector that's good quality, easy to apply, and fairly cheap? My family had 3 Sii phones, and I want to have some backups also, so some in the $1 to $3 a pop would be ideal.
I bought these but they are total junk, impossible to put on with out bubbles an has a red/green hue on it.
PS: I am not a cheapo, but for out EVO 4gs I bought 6 for $5 and they were great, so I am hoping the same type exist for this phone.
good things in life dont come cheap
An LCD film in good quality does, I am sure. If they existed for the EVO, then I am sure they do for the Epic 4g.
But in most cases, I know you get what you pay for. Just hoping someone else got a cheap one and could share.
This are great and are made from the same material as zaggs invisible shield. This one is full body but they also have screen only for 99¢ each I believe. I bought them for my evo 3d but I don't like the cut out on the epic touch.

I'm currently using this one. Again similar to zaggs but cheaper and I love the cut out and it was very easy to apply. No bubbles.

Check out phantomskinz.com or xtremeguard on ebay. Phantomskinz sells 2 for 10 bucks and xtremeguard can be had for 3.50 on ebay. I like both of these better than the Zagg products. Zagg is to thick IMO. If you look closely at the details, Zagg and Xtremeguard share the same city and address. Maybe the same company with two different products. I did the wet install that you will see on phantomskinz website. Works perfectly.
I got 6 on ebay for $1.88. The first one I put on had an extremely cheap feeling, scratched very easily, and had the rainbow color.
You know when you apply these protectors, there is the first layer you remove to expose the "sticky" side and then there is the actual screen protector layer, followed by another outside protector layer to be removed?
When I got my replacement e4gt, I did not remove the outside "protective" 2nd covering and it's so much better, so you end up having two layers on your phone. The rainbow colors are virtually gone and it has a much higher quality feel, but it still scratches fairly easily. I've had it on for about a month now and it still feels great. If the top layer gets too scratched up, I can still remove it and keep the single cheap layer on it.
As for bubbles, try this method...

Thanks for the links, the youtube video method seems like a good solution!
When you leave the 2nd layer one, doesn't that one have that little sticker that says "2" on it with a little description? I could never take that little label off without leaving any glue.
I use zagg and am very happy with it. Between that and my ballistics case I feel pretty safe. Its very funny to watch the look on someone's face when you hand them your phone and drop it.

It is a bit tricky because it will want to lift the bottom layer as well just becareful when removing it. You can rub off the glue residue and wipe off any smudges after.

Thanks for this thread I picked up several of those XtremeGuard protectors off ebay for a buck and change each. Currently using Greatshield (3 for $7 on amazon) and its a step above the cheap ones but it gathers fingerprints like crazy.
I use these, and they work well. Don't know what's up with the reviews about getting the wrong size...mine fit perfectly.

I got some cheap ones off of Amazon for my EVO and they worked great, but I couldn't find the same ones for the E4GT so I bought a 5 pack of some other cheap ones and they were total crap. I tried all 5 of them and couldn't get them on without air bubbles and the edges wouldn't even stick down all the way, so I just threw them in the trash.
Then I bought a pack of Steinheils (2 for $13 on Amazon) and they are the best screen protector I've ever used, period. Both the wife and I have E4GTs and I put them on both. They both went on flawlessly on the first try and other than the FFC cutout, you can't even tell it's there. Well worth spending few extra bucks IMO.

How does the saying go," you get what you pay for."
Since bestbuy applies screen protector with liquid (water) and sprint is expensive, I decided to try alternative source. Got 5 protectors for about $5 on ebay and supprised how good they are. Easy to install and after 4 months still holds and looks like day 1.
Here is what I have

I must add, sometimes we receive old protectors and corner paper sticker stay behind because glue become old and we cant remove it. I had this sittuation with nexus and my tablet but seller replace them after I asked him to.

The xtremeguard protector is great. I was a bit nervous about the wet install but it was easy. The cutout around the camera is a little sloppy but i can live with it for the price. You can hardly even tell its on the phone.

Just a heads up
I was in a local mall in New Hampshire, USA looking at cellphone cases for my vibrant at one of those kiosk and noticed two more booths was an Invisible-shield booth with demonstrations...ect
Long story short i picked up a full body InvisibleSHIELD for $25 and they installed for $5 bucks and did a great job.
many people have complaints with with invisible shield. the main problem is that it gets dirty easily

It does seem to have a slight sticky feel, I figured its because it takes 24-48 hours to fully cure
Is this how it gets dirty?

Well ill see, if i dont like ill just remove.
Whats a better alternative if i decide to remove?
My invisible shield is clean all around basically... but I didn't know anything about zagg when I got it.
Zagg seems to be getting some bad reviews on this forum. I bought it the day I ordered my Vibrant and installed it the day I received it. Back looks awesome, and it is not nearly as slippery as the back cover alone. Front however.... zagg is slightly narrower than the screen, and it is bugging me. Also, it is far from invisible on the front, but I guess I will live with it rather than having my screen scratched. What really sucks is that the "full body cover" does NOT cover the corners nor the bezel, and we know what happens to these phones if you drop them.
I will have my case soon, as I planned - I put the zagg on so my phone does not get scratched with the particles that get under the case. Once I have the case on, I will feel a bit more comfortable handling the phone.
I had a BSE(bestskinsever.com) on my iPhone screen for 2+ years. I took the back skin off because of the "dirt" issues and because it didn't stay on the rounded edges very well. I just applied a skin to my Vibrant. As far as I know, BSE are identical to Zagg/Invisible Shield, but around 1/3 or 1/2 the cost. Some people don't like them, but it gives me peace of mind to know my screen is more protected.
I brought the T-Mobile case the first day I got my Vibrant. After two months I decided to get the Invisible Shield for the back. The phone itself is big enough already, I dont need any extra bulk feel too it. For the Screen Protector I'm using Realook which is alot better then Clearfreak I had at the beginning.
As someone posted, the Invisible Shield doesnt protect the Chrome or Edges around the phone.
My second day with it. Now tht its fully cured
The back feels great
The screen not to much. Its somewhat finger print resistant but at the same time playing FPS game like nova you fingers dont slide as good on screen and has kind of a rubbery feel.
How does Realook feel is it a harder surface?
Realook is hard and not sticky at all

Yea woke up this morning "day 3" and picked up phone and its not sticky anymore.
Im really liking this.
With the invisibleshield on the back the battery cover feels solid and gives the phone an overall solid feel to it.
Also the battery cover comes off easier now
I might remove screen protector though IDK. Im more worried about the plastic back cover scratching. The screen was more for reducing fingerprints than actual scratching , im mean its gorilla glass and all. I never had any issues with my N1.

Thanks for the heads up if i decide to remove the one on my screen now ill give that a shot
For the Screen Protector, get the Realook. It feels and look like nothing is there....
So i took off my front piece i hate it. Left the back piece because i like the way it feels and still protects back from scratches.
Got a realook SP just finished installing and yup its 10 times better than invisible shield SP like others said it doesn't feel really any different than it does without one on
Dang, shoulda bought Realook, it is soooo much cheaper than the one I bought. The brand I got is good (it's not a Zagg brand), and I have no complaints, but I paid 20 bucks a piece for them (I have two Vibrants, one for me and one for the wife )
You can get a 2 pack of these Realook Screen protectors from Amazon.com for 11 bucks shipped.....coulda saved myself 35 bucks
Learn from your mistakes.
I got zagg too. I'm not hating it but definitely would like to save some money...
Yeah, I also got the invisible shield but I just ordered the realook sp a couple days ago for the front.
If you want an awesome screen protector that has the hardness feel of the bare screen then you want this one. It's 3 for 7 bucks and it feels so much better than all those expensive Invisible Sheilds and such. Those leave a crappy feel or funky haze after they dry. This thing is so bad ass I felt I needed to let everyone in on it. I've had for a couple of months now and no scratches. I also put one on my wifes evo. Enough here's the link.

Edit- Had to order more of these for a replacement phone and found out that the protectors advertised here and sold by Efforcity are the wrong ones. You have to click the part that shows ones that are sold by other companies and you have to get them from Bargain Cell. I just got mine in finally and Bargain Cell is the only company that sells them.
Thanks. I have a Zagg InvisableShield now and I do like it, but this is cheap enough to see if it is worth having. The great thing about Zagg's screen protectors is that they are lifetime warrantied so you only have to buy 1 per device. After that just pay shipping and you get a brand new one.
I've been using MobileXS Screen Guardian Mirrored HTC EVO screen protector for about 2 months now. Feels like glass, very slick and not stick at all.
When the screen is on its really clear and when the screen is off it's almost a perfect mirror. I bought two thinking it would scratch easily so far not a single scratch. Oh... and there washable and reusable. There a little more costly at 25$ a pop, but after two months and no scratches or wear I think its a good deal.

Martin Fields. They cost a fortune but is the absolute best.
I like the one that seidio sells had mines on for about 3 months still looks invisible.
Swyped from Eva my Mynion running Myn's RLS4.95!
I've used an Invisible Shield on the last three phones I've had.
As long as you get it put on properly, they last forever.
I usually shill out the few bucks to have the guy at best buy do it since if they screw it up, they have to put a new one on.
I got the one from the OP yesterday and put it on. I like the feel of it, but it is a fingerprint and finger oil magnet. It also doesn't cover the whole screen. There are small strips on each side longways that are not covered. I liked my Zagg InvisibleShield because it didn't attract this stuff and covered the whole screen. The only thing I didn't like about Invisible is the rubbery feel of it. Good thing they have a lifetime warranty. I got a new one on the way for only the cost of shipping.
There really aren't any instructions for this one, I just received mine today. Do you use any soapy water or anything? I;m going to install it in a steamy bathroom.
I am not familiar with that one. I had one of the SGP protectors and I liked it but it scratched too easily. I use the bodyguardz. It offers the same protection as the invisible shield but I like the feel of it better. They have a dry apply version available now. I have just ordered one of the wrap sol protectors. I will let you know how it compares.
Sent from this here Evo!
I use Reallook. I had one on my vibrant and now on my evo. They are pretty cheap on amazon. It covers the whole face and is unnoticeable. Also reusable, and easy to apply
I actually bought the screen protectors listed by OP.
It was nice because they actually sent me NINE screen protectors, hah. The texture and clarity is identical to the stock glass.
im about done with screen protectors in general. today at work i got a bit of paint over spray on my screen protector "phanton skinz" so i used a bit of alcohol & nail polish removed mixed with warm water to remove it and it totally jacked the protector up. i have this horrid film on it now and im pissed. these things are suppose to be indestructible. so like an ass i ordered one more just now and after that im done with them in general. next time ill but a dry application cheapy.
i wish they made the evo with gorilla glass and i wouldn't even bother.
I use Screenpatronus... good product, good price.
So I went to a Verizon store to get the gel case since I don't like the portfolio case (just too bulky for me) and of course they didn't have it in black so I decided to just pick up the 3 pack screen protector. Got back to my desk and removed the original plastic that i had kept on since last Thursday and discovered that the screen protector doesn't actually cover the entire screen, looked like crap and so I decided to go back and return it. Has anyone ordered the Zagg one yet? I have a Zagg screen protector on my Ipad and love it but want to hear some opinions before rushing in case someone has any bad feedback.

Just noticed that Phantom Skinz has their screen protector out. They have been my favorite protector for years now. Mainly cause they do not have that orange peel effect.
Only reason why i havent pulled the trigger is that I can't find a coupon code. There's almost always one available.
Thanks I'll check it out.
Have not tried the ZAGG one, I like their protectors. I have installed the Skinomi one, they are my current fav when it comes to screen protectors. Covers the screen like it should be.. I have seen friends run into your situation before with cell phones, whatever protectors they buy at the verizon stores they just dont cover the whole screen and just dont fit or look good.
Side topic - I am not a case fan cause adding size, but i like full protection from basic things, so I get screen protector, and I usually design a nice back skin... Anyone seen any skin sites that support XOOM yet?... Skinit/DecalGirl do not yet.
I'm someone who has never, ever used a screen protector on my mp3 players/phones. Can you let me know if the Zagg/Skinomi protectors:
1. Are truly invisible? You don't notice that they're on at all?
2. Significantly reduce fringerprints?
3. Make the screen less glossy at all?
4. Are easy to take on and off?
5. Are the Zagg full body ones worth it? You really can't tell it's on?

This generally applies to all screen protectors -
1. never 100% invisible but you shouldn't be able to tell from a distance there's one on. The biggest problem is "orange peel." Some manufacturers do a better job of it than others.
2. Yes, almost all of them do wonders for finger prints as well as face smudges (for phones.)
3. Again, most do make it less glossy. Some are more reflective.
4. The Zagg and Phantomskinz types are not easy to remove. They dry on to your device but will not leave a residue. Technically they say you can reattach it but I doubt it.
5. The full body's are great for protecting your device from scratches. I have found that over time dust sticks to the edges and will make it more an more obvious.
Long story short, they're great and give very good piece of mind. On the other hand, full body skins will make your device too big for things like Moto's portfolio case (educated guess but it's been that way for everything else.)
Thanks for the answers! I'm strongly considering getting one now.
I got the vzw screen protector too. I was thinking the same thing, why doesn't it cover the whole screen? Than it dawned on me. How well would the front facing camera work if it was covered? I vid chat so that made up my mind.
All of the other screen protectors have a hole cut out for the camera. The one for the OG Droid even has one cut out for the stupid LED light. lol
I don't see that as an excuse for Verizon not to cover the whole screen with their screen protector. That's a deal breaker for me. I might go with the Skinomi since it's cheaper than the Invisible Shield (Never liked Invisible Shield, anyways.)
I can't stand the Verizon scren protectors. I have a Zagg on my Droid X but I ordered a Bodyguardz protector for the Xoom. Appears to be as good or maybe slightly better than the Invisibleshield. There is a video out there. Ultimate I pad scratch test iirc.

First time I used this brand and so far I like it better than the Zagg. Less orange peel, fit is a little better, and the price is good. I took the Invisibleshield off the X and installed the Bodyguardz on both pieces. I'll see how things go.

I really dont want to pay $18 for a single one, like Steinheil.
My question is, have any of you bought cheap ones that lines up perfect with the phone and corners?
As with many things you get what you pay for.
I have the Skinomi which one of the early ones available and its been ok:
http://www.skinomi.com/
The more I use them the more I recommend the wet apply one as they seem to have less bubble and last longer. For people who are worried just go to best buy or a mall stand and have someone who installs them all day install it.
Most of the newer screen protectors don't line up directly to the edge if thats what your referring to. They save space on the edges so that it doesn't peel off as easy and a lot of new cases cover the edges to. Plus they save money by using less material. I have the ones from verizon and they dont go edge to edge. I even believe that the new Zagg's are being cut the same way.

I actually hate the ones that uses water to install, such as invisiShield. They are not as slippery as the ones that stick on there.

i think it's worth it since i started using that brand since my first android, 2 yrs ago. it's really tough and durability is super good.
The reason why the nexus doesn't have a dry install that doesn't extend to the edge because our screens are slightly curved so they will create bubbles at the top and bottom of the screen. The wet screens protector will fit better because they are more bendable
I use a brand called terrapin on my GN. They're cheap on eBay but they're made from very hard plastic. They go right to the edges of the screen and fit really well with cut outs in the right place for the speaker, camera and various sensors.
The quality of these protectors is brilliant, no affect on screen quality at all and there's no rainbow effect or orange peel. There's a few light scratches I can see on the screen protector when bright lights are shone on the unlit screen but as soon as you wake the screen up you can't see them at all.

I would still use a screen protector dust/sand/dirt can get on your fingers and still scratch it plus anything gets in the case and the cover may scratch it. I am super paranoid about scratches though so it may be just me.
There's a bunch of discussion in the Accessories forum on which screen protector is the best. I vote for Verizon "clear" one.
Great! Ordered them. Hopefully they will turnout better.

Me too. Too paranoid. As much as I would like to use the phone without a screen protector to view s amoled with its glory, I will kick myself in the gonads if I end up scratching it.

I am using XO Skins and love it. No orange peel and military grade.

In their videos the take a dremel to one and it stops the bit. No way the cheap plastic ones would.
Orange peel is my biggest problem with expensive ones such as invisible shield.
XO skins looks pretty legit. I wish I had seen it before I purchased the one I posted earlier
If they are not too too expensive I might pick that up too, as a back up.

One of those will last the life-time of the phone.
Just received my amFilm screen protectors and have to say they are one of the best plastic screen guards I've used to date. Here is what the company has to say on their amazon page: (then my opinions)
Invisible, superior quality, 3-layer PET film that will not distort the High Definition screen clarity/natural color pallette
Protects screen from daily scratches, dust, scrapes, and normal signs of wear
Attaches smoothly with self-adhering surface, leaves no residue when removed
Includes: (3) Screen Protectors, Micro-Fiber Cleaning Cloth, Squeeze Card, Installation Manual
The package I received looks very professional and was undamaged during transit thanks to the bubble wrap envelope they used to send it in. :good:

Inside the packaging, I found the usual items, (squeegee card, microfiber cloth) plus a couple things usually not found with screen protectors, like detailed installation instructions (2 methods described) and dust removal/hinge stickers. Nice touch.
I prefer using the side hinge method of application, but I'm sure vertical application is just as good.
After applying the protector, I went about looking closely at it in different light sources, swiping and tapping my brains out. I have to say that after the initial "break-in" (getting skin oil worked in) I really couldn't tell the difference between the protector and real glass. It's very smooth and hard. Touch response was not affected at all by it, at least I couldn't tell any difference. There is no rainbow effect when viewed closely in the light, and as a matter of fact, it looks like clear glass.
Screen coverage is just about edge to edge, so even without a case, you really can't tell it's on there. Cutouts are perfectly aligned.
It is somewhat oleophobic, but I have yet to see one that is 100% anti skin oil. But good nonetheless. If I didn't tell you I had a screen protector on my phone, you'd be hard pressed to notice it. This is simply the best one I've used so far, and they now have a loyal customer. And, as of this writing, they are only $1.00 for 3 (includes shipping) http://www.amazon.com/amFilm-Invisi...ywords=amfilm+premium+screen+protector+moto+g
I defy you to find a better deal. Great product, awesome price. I would pay $1 per sheet for these, easily. Look no further if you need screen protectors for your G. amFilm makes screen protectors for other phones too.
I would show you how it looks on my phone, but it's invisible!
Ordered a 3 pack on amazon for a dollar!

You won't regret it. Just take your time and do it right.
A friend of mine just commented how much like glass it looks and feels like. :good:

In my opinion this is much better , yes the price is a little higher, but worth the money

This isn't a comparison thread. If you want to talk about that particular screen protector, start a new thread.
I bought one the other day. $1 total.
How is it installed? With water or?
Dry install
Just ordered mine of Amazon. Good price and looks really good!
Got mine today!! I ordered it the 13th and Amazon said it was going to come either the 20th or 25th. Pretty damn good.
The installation is very easy, though you have to have stickers ready when doing step 1-2 because otherwise keeping the protector in "place" is sort of hard because its a little slippery. But once you put on the stickers it's very easy to just simply put it on.
The screen quality is great. I don't even notice it's on. Great protector for the price. I did the Hinge Installation by the way. It's very easy. If you don't get it, watch the video they supply in with the QR code in the instruction manual.
I just received my amFilm screen protectors today, and they're pretty good, but I don't have much to compare them to. I've only put screen protectors on two of my phones before. The only thing I'll have to get used to is the fact that swiping from the side, I catch on the edge of the screen protector. I use Sidebar Pro, with my trigger set at the middle of the right edge of the screen. Swiping to open the bar, I catch on the protector, but not badly enough to disrupt what I'm doing. Other than that, so far, so good.
Hi,
your review reads so awesome that I tried to purchase these protectors. However I live in Germany and they do not ship to countries outside the US.
I would like to ask you for a favour: would someone buy these protectors (pref. with prime for free shipping) and then forward them to be in Germany? Can someone guess how much this would be? I would really appreciate this.
Screen protectors here cost about 9-11 USD and I cannot find any reviews.

They are no longer $1.00 on amazon, and now go for $4.95. With shipping, they would be very expensive. You're better off just buying what's available in Germany.
Can the op re post the instruction sheet in better quality....

Does the screen guard cover the sensors ?
I'll have to get one of these soon. Thanks for the review!

So they don't get unresponsive? I've had some on my Pico which did.
after removing the crap screen protector that came with my otterbox commuter case, which had an insane amount of glare and made the screen so unresponsive it was frustrating, this HD clear screen protector by amfilm truly delivers as op stated. there is now zero glare and the touch responsiveness is pin point accurate! I'm one very satisfied customer. thank you for the recommendation sir.
