everyone who uses this should thank Ichigo when you see his post's. he has taken on the task to keep this updated for your use as me nor webdroidmt no longer have this device. Thanks Ichigo!
download the new smirkit app here
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/s/q0wa5y0mgrgr433/Smirkit.apk
install the app, click install! no need to reboot to recovery and flash like before.
use smirkit as you normally would. this would be a new installer of smirkit
some info to take note of.
The advantages of an app over a flashable zip are:
1)You can install smirkit within the app instead of having to reboot into recovery
2)It will install smirkit on alt roms
3)It can automatically remove smirkit if the user wants instead having to manually do it.
Two things the users should know:
1) They may get a warning when installing something via smirkit. I'm not sure why it shows, but they can just ignore the warning. Everything still works fine.
2)They may find a smirkit folder on their sdcard. They shouldn't delete this folder. It's only 30bytes.
______________________________
smirkit now works on all roms! stock rooted users, make sure you install busybox from the market and run the app to install busybox first.
this update includes sblood86's new cannibal open touch recovery. read below for new install instructions!
release thread here
thread cleaned. I wanted to lighten the load and provide a way of flashing up-to-date files so nobody gets left behind. as cwm gets updated, I will update this to include it. in this update is the new twrp 2.1.1. I never got a response from him officially, but u guys need a way so I'm leaving it up until he says otherwise. I do beg u to visit his site anyway if u use this so he gets his views/clicks. if you can spare some change donate to them.
http://teamw.in/project/twrp2
I wanna thank kinfauns for rewriting the way the scripts now run, to verify the md5 before flashing the Bootloader or Recovery. this guy does a lot behind the scenes, so thank this man often! without his help that twrp update wouldn't have came so soon. if u have time, I highly suggest reading his guide to familiarize yourself with the kindle fire. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23747567
credits to:
hashcode - updating fff to v1.4a with a boot mode selection.. awesome!

doomlord and team utterchaos - for providing us with support and updates to our cwmtouch!
pokey9000 - for creating the bootloader on all of our devices!
Kinfaun - for assisting me with writing the scripts and method.
teamwin - for starting us off with twrp
webdroidmt - staying involved and updating smirkit since i no longer have this device!
Ichigo - taking on the task of updating smirkit since me and webdroidmt no longer have this device! (thank this man when you can)
you NEED root, busybox, and a custom recovery to do this. (any recovery u can flash a zip with)
______________________install instructions___________________________
[*]firstly, grab terminal emulator and busybox if you don't already have it off the market.
[*]now, download goomanager from the market
[*]in goomanager, tap browse all files, then devs/smirkis/otter/smirkit and download smirkit-installer
-needs to be updated. use dropbox link for now
OR
[*]download smirkit-installer directly here (thank Ichigot for this update):
http://db.tt/8ZLuCqmE
[*]flash smirkit-installer.zip in recovery using goomanager, or manually
______________________how to use smirkit____________________________
[*]boot back into the OS and open terminal emulator.
[*]first, type SU then hit enter
[*]now, type smirkit then hit enter
it should end up like this:

If using CM7 with TWRP installed, can this be used to just simply swich from TWRP to CWM. I'm sure there are many looking for this?

is it possible to add a script for installing a kernel?.

After installing cwm can't boot into twrp where my previous backups are done. Can you have both methods or have to reinstall twrp with gscript?

i'm referring to stock kernel and intersectRaven... i'm not good in adb, thats why i always prefer script just like your gscript or flashing through recovery... can u point me to the right direction how to flash kernel using recovery... i guess i need to compile in zip file with script/signed/etc...

For quite a while IntersectRaven's kernels have been properly zipped for easy installation via TWRP or CWM. Just copy the .zip to your Kindle, and install via your recovery. His zip will automatically update the wifi driver, as well.
However, as a word of warning... PLEASE do a recovery-based backup of your system prior to installing any new kernel. If you don't like the new kernel's performance, you can reinstall the original kernel by restoring the /boot partition from the backup you made before installing the new kernel. Also since IntersectRaven's .zip will replace your original wifi driver, make a BACKUP of your original wifi driver in case you ever want to go back to your original kernel. To do this, use something like root explorer to copy /etc/wifi/tiwlan_drv.ko to /etc/wifi/tiwlan_drv.ko.orig. Then you can copy it back if you reinstall the original kernel.
By the way, IntersectRaven's kernel will only overclock newer CPUs that are internallly flagged as factory authorized to run at 1.2 Ghz. You will still see a performance improvement with his kernel compared to stock even at 1 Ghz. Neall

^thanks for the clarification. btw can we use this apps to install supercharger?. there are .sh files included in supercharger pack. is there any precaution that i need to worry?

this is awesome! thank you so much

Sorry, little late on the follow up question but just to be sure, if I have TWRP installed and looking to make the change to CWM I basically then would just install the APK, run the App and then just select the option to install CWM and call it a day????????

[GUIDE] Install Clockwork Recovery 3 so you can flash CM7 - EASY - 3 METHODS

THIS THREAD IS ONLY FOR MYTOUCH 4G AND OBSOLETE ANYWAY. The official version of 3.0.2.4 can be flashed via rom manager with no mods except basic permroot.
The purpose of this post is to increase the visibility of these instructions so the CM7 threads don't get cluttered with this question being asked again and again. Mods feel free to move wherever you like. This is NOT my method, I'm merely regurgitating information that I learned by READING and SEARCHING! *Ahem!*
As I understand it CWR (ClockWork Recovery) 2 is needed for CM6 and CWR3 is needed for CM7. I don't believe there is much (if any) reverse compatibility at this time. I'm sure that will change in the future.
METHOD 1 - TrueBlue_Drew's ROM Manager swap - EASIEST
REQUIRED - S-OFF, ROOT ACCESS and ClockworkMod Recovery already installed.
If you don't yet have CW Recovery, install Rom Manager from the Market and use it to flash Clockwork Recovery.
ORIGINAL POST HERE - http://goo.gl/O5SlI
TrueBlue_Drew said:
Using this Mod/Method you can switch between the latest version of CwM 3.0.0.5 (used for Gingerbread), 2.5.1.2 (used for most froyo), or the stock recovery (used for charging when off).
NOTE:
THIS MOD/ZIP IS REPLACING THE ONE I HAD POSTED IN A DIFFERENT THREAD THAT HAS BEEN CLOSED BY THE OP. IF YOU USED MY METHOD PREVIOUSLY, I SUGGEST YOU DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL THIS ONE. ROM MANAGER NOW USES A DIFFERENT LOCATION TO STORE THE RECOVERY IMAGES.
Instructions for use
Make sure you have Rom Manager installed. This is included in most roms but can be found in the market also. The free version works fine..
Download the zip at the bottom of this post and place it on your sd card.
Open Rom Manager and choose "Reboot into Recovery"
From recovery flash/install the zip file you placed on your sdcard.(If you downloaded straight to your phone you will need to go into the download folder first and then) choose "Recovery_img_1-22-10_RM.zip" and install it. No need to wipe anything.
Now reboot your phone and then go back into Rom Manager and go to "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" This is where you can choose the recovery you want ro flash.
If you want the CwM v3.0.0.5 (1-22-11) recovery choose the option for 2.5.1.4
If you want the stock recovery choose the option for 2.5.1.1
(Thanks to Amac1222 for the idea of adding the stock recovery to this)
If you want the recovery for Froyo choose the option for 2.5.1.2
Reboot into recovery. (to enter stock recovery hold volume up and power button at same from the red triangle screen)
You should now see the recovery you picked.
CWM 3.0.0.5 has ORANGE text
CWM 2.5.1.2 has GREEN text
Stock Recovery has BLUE text
You can now do a wipe and install your rom. Keep in mind that you can switch from recovery to recovery depending on what rom you are flashing and after you flash a rom you can switch recoveries in order to do things like charge with your phone off. Just dont forget to flash back to the correct recovery when you try to flash a rom again.
NOTE: ALL NANDROID BACKUPS/RESTORES SHOULD BE DONE FROM RECOVERY. ROM MANAGER IS NOT COMPATABLE WITH CwM 3.0.0.5
WHEN IT COMES TO NANDROIDS AND FLASHING ROMS.
Please hit the "THANKS" button if you are using this and want to show your gratitude.

METHOD 2 - Fastboot - Cleanest but slightly more advanced
REQUIRED - S-OFF, Android SDK (ADB) installed and some basic knowledge of how to navigate a windows command prompt. If you don't have the SDK set up yet a simple search will get you a few guides on how to do it. Not very difficult at all, don't worry.
1. Download CWR3. - http://phones.crackflashers.com/glacier/recoveries/glacier-cwm3src-2.img
2. Save to your Android SDK tools (c:\android-sdk-windows\tools) or platform-tools (c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools) folder and rename to recovery.img
3. Turn off your phone.
4. Hold the volume down button + power until you boot to a white screen.
5. Use the volume rocker to select FASTBOOT then press the power button to select it.
6. Connect your phone.
7. Open up a windows command prompt and navigate to your sdk tools or platform tools folder. tools (c:\android-sdk-windows\tools) or platform-tools (c:\android-sdk-windows\platform-tools)
8. Type FASTBOOT DEVICES to make sure your computer "sees" your phone and is ready to flash the recovery. You should get a serial number and then the word fastboot as the output.
9. Type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img and press enter. Give it a minute to do it's thing. You should get a message that says writing recovery and success.
10. Unplug your phone and use the volume rocker to select BOOTLOADER and then again to select RECOVERY and you should be booted into the orange menu of Clockwork Recovery 3.
11. Enjoy flashing CM7!
METHOD 3 - Terminal Emulator - less set-up required than method 2
REQUIRED - ROOT ACCESS, flash_image binary. Some ROMs (CM6) have the flash_image binary and some ROMs (Stock Sense and Iced Glacier) don't. There is a link below.
1. Download CWR3. - http://phones.crackflashers.com/glacier/recoveries/glacier-cwm3src-2.img
2. Rename to recovery.img and put on root of sdcard.
3. Download the flash_image binary to your sdcard. - http://www.filefactory.com/file/ce1cc72/n/flash_image
4. Use Root Explorer (or adb push if you prefer) to copy flash_image to system/bin. LEAVE FILE WITHOUT AN EXTENSION.
--4a. If you don't have Root Explorer and aren't familiar with adb, see THIS GUIDE to add flash_image via Terminal Emulator. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10795540#post10795540
5. Open Terminal Emulator and type flash_image recovery sdcard/recovery.img
6. You're done! Go flash CM7 and enjoy!
If you want to go back to Clockwork Recovery 2 and CM6 or Sense, just use Rom Manger to flash recovery and proceed as normal. If you've found this post helpful, please link it to others and repost it! We were all noobs once, especially me.
If you found this post useful, please link it around to others.
Thanks for taking the time to post these instructions. The above ways will work perfectly to install the new recovery.
If you are having a hard time with the directions above, you can try
this way of installing ClockworkMod 3.0.0.5 on your device :
Found in this post
Or you can follow the instruction below.
My method has 3 very easy steps:
1. Make sure you have Rom Manager Installed (Free in Market).
2. Install this .zip file as you would a Rom.
3. Open Rom Manager and choose 2.2.1.4 from "All ClockworkMod Recoveries"
ClockworkMod Recovery v3.0.0.5 will now be installed on your phone.

1. Make sure you have Rom Manager Installed (Free in Market).
2. rename "recovery3......img" with "recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.4-glacier.img"
3.put this "recovery-clockwork-2.5.1.4-glacier.img" on sdcard/clockworkmod/download/koush.tandtgaming.com/recoveries/
4. Open Rom Manager and choose 2.2.1.4 from "All ClockworkMod Recoveries"

I used drew's method and it has worked flawlessly for the past month. I switch from 2.x to 3.x alot, I just flash thru clockwork to whichever recovery I want. I am currently on ice glacier and wanted to install the most current nightly. I went to more clockwork recoveries na flashed 2.1.1.4 forgot the number but its for the clockwork 3.x it has worked awesome yhe past times. This morning though it says there was an error while flashing your recovery. I tried flashing the 3.0.0.5 again through recovery but when i go back to CW it gives me yhe same error. Any help fellas? I tried flashing thru terminal but it says it can't find recovery.image. would I have to flash this on CM6 to work? thanks fellas!

Try reflashing the latest clockwork through Rom manager and then flash the one for 3.0.0.5
If that doesn't work try installing the zip again from my thread. If neither of those things work, pm me.

Added init.d support

This ROM was cooked with dsixda's Android Kitchen
Thank you and credit goes out to the both of them.

I have posted this ROM for safetynet/fall-back purposes.
I've noticed fellas posting please help, I forgot/didn't make a backup.
This is for you. Worried and maybe even a little scared that your phone is now a beautiful paper weight.
This ROM is completely stock with added init.d support and root.
It is still odexed, and with stock kernel.( I'm still learning/attempting to build one with extra governors and over clocking abilities ).
Instructions below....
1. Unlock your Bootloader by following the instructions at htcdev
1a. If you've succesfully unlocked your Bootloader, that means you have your fastboot files on your PC and know in general how to use them.
2. Download an openrecovery of your choice. I personally use TeamWinRecoveryProject 2.2.0 without any issues at all. (See the attached File)
3. Place the recovery.img that you have chosen into your fastboot folder.
3a. Change the name of the .img to recovery.img (just easier that way when sending the flash command)
4. Now open a terminal while in the fastboot folder.
4a. On Windows- hold shift+right click the mouse then click open command terminal here.
4b. On Ubuntu- CTRL+ALT+T to open a terninal then cd fastboot.
5.fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
5a. ^^^^^ Type this into the terminal. ^^^^^
5b. You now have a custom/openrecovery.
6. After the recovery.img is flashed, reboot your Bootloader.
6a. fastboot reboot-bootloader
7. After booted back into bootloader, use your volume-down button to highlight Recovery.
Now press your Power button to select it.
7a. Now your are in Recovery!
8. Click Wipe, then Cashe, then Dalvick, then Factory Rest, then System.
8a. This will wipe all of your phone nice and clean for a fresh install.
9. Click Home, then Install, and find the ROM.zip, click it, then install. Let it finish installing the click Wipe Cashe/Dalvick.
10. Navigate back to the Home screen and click Reboot, then Bootloader
10a. I hope you have a copy of the ROM.zip on your PC.
11. Open the ROM.zip and copy/extract the boot.img from inside it and place it in your fastboot folder.
12. Open a terminal once again.
13.fastboot flash boot boot.img
13a. Let it finish.
14. fastboot reboot
15. Enjoy.
These instructions are for use with TWRP (TeamWinRecoveryProject) They may be different using CWMrecovery (ClockWorkMod).

What was a network fluke?
I'll cross reference the updater-script to another one I've used on a different Rom I cooked and have been running for over two weeks..... See if there are any differences between the two.

Ok I found a difference in the updater-script, the update binaries are identical so that shouldn't be the issue. Problem I have is that I don't have a working computer to fix the updater-script. It won't be until June 26th that I can apply it. Sorry for the inconvenience.
P.S. are you flashing with TWRP?
Yes sir, TWRP. and no worries, it apparently just isn't your ROM. Angry HTC and jmz's stock ROM both give the same error. even after a full format of the SD. Rhythmic Rom 1.4 works though, and is what I was running. Was trying to return the device to somewhat stock tho as im either going to sell it or let my gf use it, so I was hoping for stable and to have the charge LED and icons working, hopefully.

If you downgrade TWRP to 2.3 you should be fine.
Sent from my One V using xda premium
ah, I'm on 2.5, so I'll look into that...
did the downgrade to TWRP 2.3.0.0, still the only thing i can install is Rhythimc Rom, everything else fails to install... unless i just got some really crappy downloads, so i'm off to try to dl the roms again...
Actually, instead I swapped out recoveries for CWM. aaaand it worked.

FAQ:
Code:
[B]Q. Upon rebooting from CWM Touch Recovery (Bootloader Version) I am unable to get back into recovery there on after (no more red LED indicator). How do I solve?[/B]
A. When selecting "reboot system now" from CWM Touch Recovery (Bootloader Version) ensure you select [B]No[/B] when prompted (No, Yes - Disable recovery flash, Go Back) otherwise required scripts get removed meaning you'd need to repeat the installation.
[B]Q. I am unable to use Backup and Restore using this recovery.[/B]
A. Backup and Restore has been realized and tested on the Bootloader Version of the recovery, please use this version to solve your issue.
[B]Q. Does the Bootloader Version wipe stock Recovery?[/B]
A. No, it is simply side loaded on boot using the scripts created by surdu_petru.
[B]Q. Are there any Risks flashing TouchRecoveryLoader.zip?[/B]
A. No, the method used is a variation of the Touch Recovery Installer but with the added boot time scripts to allow booting to Recovery without Software assistance. No risks are imposed solely on flashing this version alone.

Currently the Recovery Installer acts as a launcher, this is the safest method available to date. Until we investigate a more permanent method that won't impose risks of a brick it will remain this way.
This method does not overwrite stock recovery so it cannot be booted using hardware keys until such time. Rest assured, users will be delighted to here that because of the aforementioned there are no risks imposed using the provided files otherwise.
To reboot into CWM simply use the provided launcher, the recovery need only be installed once, there on after simply select "Reboot into Recovery" to access CWM skipping step 3. Should you wish to install a new firmware/ROM you will however need to Reinstall the provided apk and Recovery by following the provided steps unless it has been baked into the ROM by the 'Chef'.

Oh, i understand now. If I may ask, when there is compatible ROM released such as CM or any other one, will we just be launching it through the the available .apk and installing the ROM as we would on any other device via CMW?

We're already hard at work on bringing custom ROMS for the P6, this and zhenaguo's Chinese recovery has very much opened the door for said possibilities. A bit of patience and we should see some life brought into the XDA P6 development forums.

S34Qu4K3 perform the following whilst in CWM:
Code:
adb shell
cd /sdcard/
ls
Looks like our internal sdcard is mounted afterall. Boggled to as why CWM is unable to access it. I compiled TWRP last night successfully since it's been reported that some boot loaders have issues with CWM and internal sdcard. Yet to try it since it requires some modification to the existing scripts I.e. symlinking and copying of additional binaries.
I'll get ahold of you tonight for some more testing.
Great! And what about that CWM flags?

did that after i installed using freegee and what do you know a bootloop. restored stock image then reflashed and worked fine.
another problem ive encountered is that once you use flashify to install recovery it does not boot into recovery at all. it boots into a black screen.
freegee boots into recovery also but you cant change versions of twrp. its at 2.6.3.0 and you cant install the 2.6.3.3 zip. tried numerous times and it fails.
I've not had that issue on T-Mobile D801.

As stated it work for me, I utilized the app and installed recovery TWRP and I booted into it and updated the TWRP with the zip.
Keep in mind there has been issues with using the app, BUT there is warnings as with all tweaking/rooting/flashing......

yup i can confirm that using flashify after the ota and root does not work on the att d800. if you have successfully done it JudgeJosephDredd please give any directions that would help. cause no matter what image i flash it does not work......at all. thanks in advance if you decide to help.

What did you use? the 2.6.3.3 D802 img at the link provided?
Yep I'm used that link (to be clear: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/g2d802) but first I installed the 2.6.3.2 .img file cause flashify supports better img files for recovery than zip and then used that TWRP to flash the 2.6.3.3 .zip file.

Every time I try Flashify on either of the two img files for Verizon, it just reboots to a black screen. After first black screen I do the hard reset with the power button but still no luck.
Guys I'm thinking of flashing recovery via flashify, I did have recovery gained via freegee but got stuck in a boot loop while flashing Omni ROM and couldn't enter recovery so had to restore full software via LG Launcher software. Fantastic! Flashed it and used it to flash a Wear version of SuperSU. Watch is rooted, without having to use KingRoot!
Let's see, somebody posted a system image a while back, didn't they? I guess I could flash that to unroot if there's a firmware update.

Yes, I pulled a system image and another user modified to successfully pass the checks that occur during updates (the original pull didn't pass). Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/zenwatch/development/root-t3163248
Makes sure you read up on it, though, as it sounds like you'd need to do some legwork to get the system image to work. Relevant posts in that thread are 32, 52, and 54.
Hopefully, though, having TWRP means that someone smarter-than-I-am may develop even more elegant solutions!
Cheers!
Now that we have twrp we can do a system pull from an unrooted device. The system image posted in the other thread will only work on the previous version of Android Wear. Do not flash if you are up to date.
Flashing the system.img for the ZenWatch on LCA43 does work but I wouldn't recommend it (I had to recently wipe my watch to test something), as long as you do an update path from flashing to directly flashing the OTA zip, but it's long winded (of course now that we have TWRP, updates and flashing back to "stock" will be so much easier). That, and KingRoot seems to leave a lot of trace files.
Also as a sidenote, because of SuperSu, I was able to install Stericson's BusyBox from the app (sideloaded apk). KingRoot's root authorization window didn't play well with Android Wear.

The current system image in the other thread still has Kingroot on it. After removing that I tried to flash SuperSU but that force closes. Would like to get somebody who has not rooted to do a twrp backup and post it. We should be able to make a new flashable clean system image from that.

Make sure you're using this zip file to install SuperSU (it seems to be the same binary as Chainfire's) since the app itself doesn't work, and this one doesn't require authorizations (not completely safe, but it works).
(also, don't forget to unroot from the KingRoot app first; the unroot seems to be clean enough to use Wear SuperSU)

That's the one I used, and it works. (Though there's no authorization popups, as you said.)
Theres an app called Super SUMe, in the Play Store that'll switch out KingRoot for SuperSU. Super easy to do, one click to complete the process. Have no idea if it'll work on watches, but I guess it doesnt hurt to try? Make sure you make backup first, now that TWRP is available..
Hoping to get this watch today! or maybe the Moto360..

It'll probably remove KingRoot successfully, but the Zenwatch can't launch the SuperSU app, so root authorization dialogs never show up (the su binary still gets installed, but it can't do anything without permission from the app first).
Boooooo moto 360. It's sooo damn big.
@acbka How did you set up your build environment? I wasn't exactly sure what to initially use (other than not using the CyanogenMod sources since it doesn't work well with building TWRP; I'm assuming Omni 5?).
