I like to select a picture as my wallpaper, but setting it as a wallpaper it zooms in unnecessarily. Has anyone seen this? it is happening on my wife's phone as well.
I am wondering if this is an issue with Touch Wiz, the Gallery, or something else. I have tried it on ALL the launchers and that hasn't helped. I have also tried to lock the wallpaper scrolling, and setting it as vertical and horizontal.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You may need to resize the picture to use it properly as a wallpaper

Wt do you mean? I have always been able to take the picture from the gallery an set as wall paper. the phone scaled it properly. This phone it seems like it thinks the screen is bigger than it is. I guess I could try and scale it my self....
Look for wallpaper wizardrii in the market. Its free. Use it to set your wallpaper. Select stretch to portrait.

Like title says, was wondering how to make the wallpaper scroll with the home screens like it used to in stock Ginger Sense.
I've tried looking through Personalize and Display and Gallery settings, and can't find anything related to making the wallpaper scroll like it used to.
So when i go to set a wallpaper, it just makes me resize an image to be very skinny and tall.
Thanks in advance!

Sense 3 uses a static background image because of the endless scroll carousel feature of the launcher. This allows the launcher to be scrolled in one direction for an infinite number of loops.

Hmm interesting to know. Thanks though!

The only reason I can see they didnt do it is when you look at LP is kinda lags when you go back to the other side. It would do that on sense too but with the carousel spinning it might crash it or be way to laggy to be appealing.

Sense 3 correct sizing wallpaper app
Hiya!
For correct sizing I use an app called AutoResize Wallpaper. Its brilliant! It allows you to set your full pic as the wallpaper. No more cropping for sense 3. To apply just choose a pic from your gallery, press 'share‘ button then Autoresize wallpaper and it does it all itself. Its free from the market too
Hey guys. Can someone help me out? How do I get wallpapers to fit my screen properly? If I download a wallpaper say from zedge, when I apply it, it always seems like ive blown it up. I want it to fit so I can see the entire wallpaper. Thanks
your looking for something with a 960x800 resolution if u want it to scroll. Otherwise ur standard size for a lockscreen background or wallpaper its 480x800 i hope that helps!
An app called wallpaper wizardrii cured my ills!!

I always get it to work by taking a screenshot then opening the picture in the gallery from the screenshot folder, menu > set as wallpaper and it should be normal size. Im a newb so im not sure if their is an easier way. Hope that helps.
Edit: Disregard. Seems to only work for lockscreen. Sorry.

When I got my S3, my wallpaper was scrolling left to right as a was scrolling pages. Now that I have changed my wallpaper, it isn't scrolling anymore. My wallpaper is wide enough. I tried everything to activate the scrolling but I'm not able to do it.
I have searched on the Web and I couldn't find a solution to my problem.
When I choose my wallpaper, it gives me the option to crop or choose which part of the wallpaper I want to use, I tried selecting a wider portion of the wallpaper but it doesn't let me.
Anyone knows what I'm doing wrong?

Wallpaper doesn't scroll in touchwiz, you must be mistaken, perhaps remembering a different launcher, device, or rom.

Are you using a default wallpaper or one of your own from like the camera or gallery?
Not sure if this will help but this is what I use and it works great.

This is a bummer.
try nova, i think it supports scrolling wallpaper
I have a wallpaper that's designed to be looked at in a landscape orientation, which I'm fine with it showing on it's side during portrait mode, but when I move my phone to landscape, it moves the wallpaper adding black bars to the side, essentially ruining the wallpaper.
Can I make my wallpaper static, regardless of screen orientation?
EDIT: Added screenshots, for hopefully more clear intentions..
Is your wallpaper scrollable?

It looks like you're issue is that the wallpaper is not rotating, or am I missing something?

Well, no, it is rotating - I'd like to see it static, remaining as it is in portrait mode, when I flip to landscape.. I want the dock icons and status bar, persistent search bar, etc, all to keep acting as they normally do (shown in the screenshot above), but the wallpaper to remain as shown in portrait, regardless of screen orientation..
If I flip it 270 degrees, then it'll appear upside down, which I'm also fine with (corrective behavior to hold it the right way lol)

Yarr.. you edited your post after I quoted it lol
It is scrollable, but I only have one home screen/page, and one set of paged dock icons, so it wouldn't matter..
It has to do with the size of the picture being used. If you have more than one screen a picture that is oversize and scrollable won't have those black bars.

I don't think you understand what my end goal is..
What I want is the way the wallpaper is in the portrait picture in the first post, to be static, regardless of which way I hold the device and which orientation it is. The wallpaper shouldn't move, or rotate with the device..
No, I understand what your end goal is, but static orientation is a live wallpaper thing. It is coded into the wallpaper. None of the main launchers offer it as an option. And I doubt any of the ROMs do. So the two obvious options were converting it to a live wall paper or some photoshop, hence my question.
Luckily, someone created an app that treats static wallpapers as live wallpapers and thus can force them into a static orientation.

I'll try this out, thanks for your help
I've just tried it, works pretty well. I have a different picture for portrait and landscape
When I try to change my wallpaper and lock screen, using Gallery, with a High Res image, the wall paper looks compressed and very low res. The cropping even doesn't match the crop lines I set, its a much smaller area. Has anyone else noticed this and found a solution?
The lockscreen looks fine though and is as clear as I expect.
Seriously no one else is bugged by this? Is there another app that works well to change wallpaper?

Found an app to solve the problem, called "Image 2 Wallpaper" on the play store.
Very cool app. Nice find. Thanks!
