Guys I've Defy+ (stock 2.3.6 asia retail version)
I haven't rooted my phone yet (just a month old ) but i want to install Indian fonts. Its damm irritating to see all those squares & squares...(Chinese & Japanese characters are ok)
Can somebody please tell me any way to do that?
With Multiling i can write in Indian languages. But its of no use till I install the fonts.
Thanks in advance
see following thread for Indian fonts
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=798380
You have to replace DroidSansFallback.ttf from your system/fonts folder as per given this thread.

it is safe to use fontomizer
on my SGY?
im running 2.3.6 stock rom (DXKK4)
it would be a great help, tia.
Yap. Ive used it but if you want the manual way but better. Coz doing it manually lets you install a font u really want unlike fontomizer it just have presets

i'd prefer font changer if your phone is rooted, its more customizable
yes.. and i love ubuntu font. try it.
Use "Custom android font switcher", works like a charm.
What more, it has no bugs like fonts slightly placed higher than its supposed to be. It is the only app i came across (pardon me, I'm not a pro in this topic, just my experience) which replacess each and erey font in your phone, even the keyboard fonts will be changed.
thanks for the advice guys,
ill try one.. ayos!
i used font installer by jrummy and fontomizer several times... so far they are safe and worked
font installer needs root tho
Some wont work on custom roms
HERE's a SMALL GUIDE FOR CHANGING FONTS MANUALLY - ROOTED
1. download the font you want. (*.ttf)
2. make 3 copies of that font.
3. rename them by the ff:
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
Clockopia.ttf
4. Go to system/font and replace the fonts namely the ones stated above
**i mean delete the old fonts named DroidSans.ttf, DroidSans-Bold.ttf, Clockopia.ttf annd replace them with the one you renamed.
5. reboot. and VOILA

so i found a way to change the arabic fonts back in the ICS roms and it was working fine
but after i updated my Gnexus to jelly bean 4.1.1 i did the same old method to change the arabic font but it did not work
the method in ICS was to copy the same .ttf font file to 3 copies and rename them to :
1-DroidNaskh-Regular.ttf
2-GS45_Arab_AndroidOS.ttf
3-DroidSansArabic.ttf
and after that i have to change the permissions and restart
so i did the same in jelly bean but its not working after some research on the net i was able to understand that whole fonts thing in JB
so i copied the same .ttf font to 2 copies and renamed them to :
1-DroidNaskh-Regular.ttf
2-DroidNaskh-Regular-SystemUI.ttf
changing the permissions again , restart and it did changed my arabic fonts but its a mess up and its now unreadable :crying:
my device is GSM 4.1.1 stock + root and CWM
and i uploaded the arabic font ( .ttf + .apk ) that i want to change in case someone could make me a flash-able zip
any help would be appreciated ...
its all fixed up now
apparently it was a problem in the font it self

I need help with changing the system fonts as well, I used to use TypeFresh when I was on Gingerbread and it'd work flawlessly. After getting my Gnex, I tried that same app again and it bricked my phone, I had to restore it. Any suggestions as to how I can do this without manually having to replaced files?
I've read Font Changer works, but based on the app info in the play store, it only supports 4.0, not 4.1
Thanks
ROM TOOLBOX app has a working fine change font feature but it does not not have any Arabic fonts. If you can get the fonts on your own you can place them on sd card and apply them in rom toolbox!. I tried few ones myself like almohanad and Arabic font was changed to almohanad but system ui did not look good and spaces between lines were much bigger that long app names did not show half of the second line in the app drawer and I restored back system fonts using rom toolbox

Hey.
I recently upgraded from LewaOS (cm7.2 based) to cm10. I liked LewaOS' font so much that extracted it from the .zip. The odd thing is the same font that was working flawlessly inside the rom, does not joint Arabic letters in Windows and in cm10. Any suggestion?
Hi, I was so angry because motorola had cutted out a lot of languages from original android. And then I thought... May be I can do something with that. And... here it is
I just take languages from lg nexus 4 and put it into moto G
It works awesome with my native russian language (over 90 % translated). So, I decided to add all of languages that I can found in nexus 4 firmware.
And I do not take any responsibilities for this.
This mod based on 4.4.2 retail US firmware. And you can have bootloop if you'll flash it on other rom.
The following .zip you should flash via custom recovery (CWM, TWRP): https://www.dropbox.com/s/05jmaeu18mzkzqm/442LANG.zip
One more time, I do not promise you that on your language it'll be work good. I take care only about Russian. But, as analogy with russian, it should works awesome
And I'm sorry for any mistakes I've made in this post, I skipped a lot of english lessons in school
And if you kinda like my job you can donate me I'll be very glad to spend this money for new moto shell (as example)

The list screenshots of available languages:
Working fine here on repacked 4.4.2, at least Portuguese PT-PT
It is awesome work! How did you do that?
I tried to put the hungarian language to 45 .apk in the UK 4.3 rom - decompile, put the needed values folder and .xml, recompile and change the .apk files, framework-res, and the applications works well, but did not work the new added language. In the Atrix 2 official 4.1.2 JB this method works and we have a Hungarian stock rom.

I just did the same for russian at first) Just added values and xml folders (may be sometimes changing some lines) in .apk files.
So, I killed all evening yesterday to do that for all languages I found in nexus 4
But as I know Magyar (is in my mod) is called Hungarian, right?)
p.s
And there is also distinguishable between h and h+ (just modified systemUI.apk a week ago)

Yes, you know right! - Now I read your solution in this thread yesterday (I wish I had stumbled upon earlier), and I think my mistake - that I dont delete the settings.odex. From this solution I not heard yet, but I'll try in the 4.3 UK rom.
[06:40:] First, after I delete the .odex file - it is not work the settings.apk missing, then I replaced the .odex, reboot, and after the Settings.apk appear and turned into Hungarian Language. I think all translated .apk's .odex file need to delet and replace to work this method - it's strange.
[07:24:]No, this is not work for me. I stop the attempts, wait for the UK OTA and then I try your .zip.
Thanks!

This thread for 4.4.2
But, if you wanna do the same* on 4.3 here you go: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=48157926&postcount=21
you should replace your framework-res.apk and settings.apk . set them right permissions, delete settings.odex (if it exists) and do reboot.
*But it's so pure in comparasing with this mod for 4.4.2
In 4.3 there are only 2 files I modified: framework-res.apk and settings
In this 4.4.2 mod I modified about 20 files
Thank you for a cool job!!! Shame Motorola for language policy.

yep. but then I need to repeat all work I've already done. I almost don't have free time now. I'm studying very hard
Also if I will have free time I wont do this.
Yep, this takes more memory, but in SYSTEM section. You already have free space in system/ and this space for system apps. Apps that you installed on phone takes other space.
May be I can't explain it correctly on english
But if you're caring about space, I don't think that few mb in SYSTEM section make sense

So, do you need this? - Flash US rom.

It works perfectly on my Moto G. I can use now Bulgarian as a system language. Apart from the Motorola applications including the camera, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, everything else is in Bulgarian. I have UK retail 8GB version of Moto G. I unlocked the bootloader, flashed the US retail version, updated to kitkat, flashed the CWM and then flashed the Mod.
Easy and simple. Thanks for the Mod.
Thanks S0bes! Georgian is working! Now, I will buy some of these phones as gifts for Georgian friends! I noticed you also have mods for enabling H/H+ icons, which this language mod also seems to enable, so that is a nice bonus!

Not sure if you're rooted or not, but have you tried RomToolbox? I use it to install my fonts, and it works great. The only time I haven't seen it work is when I try to install a "bold type" font. Other than that, it has worked for every font I have used.
