Allright I have a very annoying problem...
For quite some time now everytime I go to youtube.com to watch videos, the areas that the video should be playing in stays completely black. I CAN control pause/play etc. I CAN still hear all audio, I CAN see/use the progress bar, but I CAN'T see any video.
This is also the case with youtube videos embedded in other websites. Or even some ofther flash video such as vimeo.
The youtube app works just fine, but not all videos are availbe on mobile as you most likely know already...
I have tried many different web browsers, and its the same on them all. I do use dolphin browser HD by default though.
I HAVE the latest version of adobe flash from the market
I do not know what's going on! I have searched and searched and found nothing!
I have CM7.1 the stable release on my G2.

Afternoon all
Did a search but couldn't find anything dealing with this particular issue (if I've missed something, please point it out.).
When I use the native browser and hit a YouTube link, the browser opens up the HTC flash player/streaming media player. But I want it to open the YouTube app, like my HTC Hero used to.
I've tried clearing the defaults for the flash player, streaming media player, youtube app and internet but no joy.
If I try the same test using the Dolphin browser, I get the option to open youtube links with the youtube app, which is what I want the native browser to do!
Does anyone know how to get the native browser to handle youtube links with the youtube app?
Cheers

Bueller? Anyone?
anybody..
It's the same on mine. Can't see any way of changing it. I wonder if this is in anticipation of full flash support in the next Android release?
AFAIK it *should* work - it worked fine on the Hero and it works with the dolphin browser... I'm completely stumped
Bumpity bump

On websites and forums where there are youtube videos embedded on it, the playback is not very smooth. It jumps slightly.
How do I fix this, or this normal?

I am running the Modaco Froyo ROM.
Just to double check, can other froyo users see if they have this problem.
To test, there is a video on this link. Could you play it and tell me how it peforms? http://www.m5board.com/vbulletin/e6...0-bi-kompressor-twin-supercharged-800-hp.html
Thanks
I have no problems with vids from YouTube usually however I notice that the vid you linked to is 720p and is a little jerky. The standard def version of the same vid works fine tho! I think it is asking a lot to be able to play 720p vids smoothly within a browser window on a phone to be honest! My laptop can struggle sometimes!
I have just installed Skyfire Browser (beta) from the Market and the sites that crash for me using the Android built in browser are fine in Skyfire, ie BBC , sites that embed justin.tv videos.
i mainly use flash to watch football and the framerate is superb using Skyfire.
Hope this helps some people on here.
So you don't have todays Flash 10.1.95.1 update skewing the comparison?
5MB more gone...

No........... but ive just installed it and my usual sites are still crashing with the stock Android browser and fine with Skyfire
Here's a test then. How many embedded videos can you see and playon this page with the Skyfire browser? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/9004741.stm

I clicked your link and it crashed
and even worse the sites which were ok for my about 10 minutes ago now crash!!!!!!
what have you done?
got it working again after uninstalled/reinstalling.
this is weird as the football videos on the scottish premier league section of the BBC website play fine.
I have the "Enable plug-ins" option set top On-Demand and when i try your link i do not even see a box where the flash videos should be.
If i set "Enable plug-ins" option to "always on" and try your link then the browser crashes.
Thanks for trying and persisting
It's pages like that giving us weird problems, like crashes, lag, no embedded video showing, etc.
There should be two Flash vids on that page to play. I too have plugins set to on-demand and if I change it to Always on, then try that page -> crash. I don't know what it is but it is limited to a few sites in my case so it doesn't bother me as much.

Just want to start off by saying that this phone is amazing besides the LOS. Well back on topic.
I have the updated version of youtube that was provided here on the forum. I downloaded it and installed. Ever since i installed it i noticed that i can play a YouTube video and turn off the screen and the video will continue playing. Now i can listen to some music that have remixes but are not available to download using the app.
What is yall's opinion on that. Good or bad?
Sidenote: i use wifi

I believe this is a feature because I was recording a video yesterday and when I did a playback the sound was still going while the screen was black.... Maybe its just to save backlight battery life
I would say its a bug. Sometimes when I am watching a flash video on the web browser and I exit the browser (and I mean even kill the browser in the task manager) the video audio will play until the end of the video. I think they've got bigger fish to fry with this LOS, but after that's solved, I intend to bring this one up.
Is this app even pushing 720p?? It looks more like the HQ you get on 3G instead of the HD on WiFi.
I have the WiFi only N7.

To be honest I don't think the youtube app has ever pushed proper 720p let alone 1080p when the HD option was checked.
If you want, you can use a modded version of the old youtube app that allows you to select 720p/1080p and has other tweaks such as screen off playback and the ability to download the videos.
Search google for "youtube modded apk" and it should be the first link from XDA. (I can't post links yet)
As far as I know the only functionality you lose is the floating window thing but personally I don't really see the use in that myself.
Check this video out! I thought it looked great!

Not just the playback but the whole app are so blown up, you can only see 2 huge thumbnails at a time
The new Youtube app messes up the video quality. You can fix it by downgrading (uninstall updates in app info).
