I use the ICS Keyboard which has been ported to Gingerbread (Market)
If you delete swype from your phone and install the new beta from their website, it is the best swipe to type keyboard for android

AGREE!!!
I also deleted Swype and downloaded Swype beta. defintily worth a try.
Only thing for me was that it show a little pop up saying that swype can read all details you type in using it (passwords, credit card details etc.) when you activate it after install.
But in most cases if its a real private thing I am typing I am hust quickly switching back to samsung keyboard.

the keyboard is very nice gingerbread!
has the view of windows phone and is very cute! recommend you try this too! You can also download the dictionary for those languages for the completion of words!

Swiftkey is amazing

Ive been using Swiftkey for a few days now and its definitely the best Virtual Keyboard I have used for Android and it can also correct your Physical Keyboard inputs as well. I can't think of any other keyboard that offers Virtual and Physical auto-correction better than Swiftkey.
There is a paid version and a beta in the marketplace, you should definitely give the free Beta a try. The G2 already gives the One-Two punch of having the best of both worlds, its only just that it has the One-Two punch for software as well .
I tried it and didn't like it personally. However I found HTC_IME Mod keyboard to work better. I'm not a big fan of Swype either.
Swype is "too" smart for me sometime lol...To be specific, the auto suggestion and completion is junk. The Numbers and symbols layout are not the best.
Anyway, does anyone know how to update Swype version? I tried to download and install the lastest version to see any improvements but haven't got successful
It autocorrects the physical keyboard too? Does it do word suggestion for the physical keyboard?
Edit: wow it does auto correct the physical keyboard also. It be nice if someone couple make this work with the stock or other sense like imd mod soft keyboard.

That is the keyboard that I was using before Swiftkey and it does alot of things really well. The MAIN thing that stopped me from using it is no Multitouch Support. I would type so fast on the virtual keyboard that the word "Smartphone" would look like Smtpne.

I agree, if I could combine the Physical Keyboard Auto-Correction and Multitouch from Swiftkey with HTC_IME it would be the perfect keyboard.
actually..better keyboard provides auto correction and word suggestions for the physical keyboard as well. search for it from the market..its a pretty decent app..and quite accurate as well
better keyboard by better android

I agree. Swiftkey for the physical keyboard and swype for the virtual is a perfect combination. Maybe there will be a way to configure that eventually.
I'm still waiting on BlindType
I don't mean to hi Jack the tread tried better keyboard pro and damn its good. It looks very nice.

This exactly what I was looking for as there was no spell check in the email. This is great. Thanks

i tried swift and while i liked the auto correct on the physical keyboard it annoyed the hell out of me when i was trying to type in spanish.. so i ended taking it out.. maybe ill purchase the full version in the future so i could have more than one language pack

Wildfire S keyboard

Hello,
I dont know wildfire s other users noticed or not i have facing keyboard issue.. I mean to say keyboard is not fast like other mobiles when i try to type fast it miss some words.. I tried smart keyboard, slide it, swip keyboard, better keyboard, gokeyboard and others all has same issue is there any solution?
I've been through quite a few too but found there are only two good/working well enough ones.
1. Swype
2. The normal keyboard on 'Mobile' mode with T9 feature switched on.
from where i will get it.. its not in android market

It's not on market because it hasn't been released to the public. To get Swype - it's still in beta but works perfectly. You need to sign up to download it - start here: http://beta.swype.com/android/create/
Swype however isnt a normal keyboard loll, you have to slide your finger/thumb across the letters to create a word and release your finger from the screen to make a space. It's amazingly cool.
If you're looking for a normal fast keyboard Swiftkey X is excellent, and you can find that on the market.
Very similar: SlideIt, pretty cheap and easy to switch between languages, can be tried out! Very fast for me.
Shall have a look
hi thanks i downloaded android keyboard from market its cool fast and smoth also free

i hate my dictionary

Any way to put standard android autocorrect in place of the ridiculous Samsung thing that rewrites my entire sentences?
Android keyboard in the Market.
Powered by the SGSII....
Look up ics keyboard. Not only is it very ice creamy, the auto correct is quite good.

Swiftkey X. The best keyboard on the market hands down.
swiftkey x !!!
I third that swiftkey X ..... he dictionary forms itself on the way you type
on swiftkey is there a way to make the spacebar longer..i keep hitting the period button when typing instead of the space bar.
Try the stock Gingerbread keyboard. I prefer it over the Samsung one and over the Swype keyboard. This is all assuming you're looking for a free alternate keyboard

Just installed swiftkey x. I really like it!
I just wish they would add swear words by default. Tired of having to enter every variation of "****" whenever i flash a new rom.

[Q] keyboards

Hi does anybody know if there is a good t9 keyboard available from the market and not super keyboard pro which i think is crap i just dont like the keyboard on the nexus its not a patch on the HTC sensation I had previously. I have tried super keyboard pro etc and I hate it. I dont like the word prompts at the top of the page etc and its slow and also terrible when you turn t9 off its fiddly to use. I have tried everything....
Swiftkey X is my favourite keyboard, but there are plenty of options.
T9? or just any Keyboard? Swype Beta is available for the GN now, so you could try that one out.
I use Even Better NumberPad Keyboard or Perfect Keyboard. Both give me a nice t9 experience. I'm not exactly a qwerty guy

Best rom with Swype?

Hey guys!
I wanted to know what you guys think is the best ROM with the Galaxy S III that gets to keep Swype with it.
I pretty much need swype and the "Beta Swype" sucks.
The stock one that comes with the phone is perfect.
Or if I could backup swype and then get it again with a custom ROM that would be perfect too

I don't think our phones come stock with the Swype app on them...You could try Ti backup or I have the JB 4.2 keyboard that I can give you which has a swipe type feature on it. Try this out. http://db.tt/gFNEwThQ

They don't come stock with name-brand Swype, but the Samsung keyboard does have a Swype alternative that comes with the phone. As for a CM10/AOSP based ROM that has this Samsung keyboard in it, I've not seen one. I have seen plenty that come with the 4.2 keyboard that Robbie mentioned that allows for the Swype. Also SwiftKey has their SwiftKey Flow beta out that's pretty slick. I'll do a bit more research and see if there's a way to flash the Samsung keyboard back on AOSP ROMs without issue. You can try Titanium Backup like Robbie suggested to backup the Samsung keyboard on a TW ROM and then restore it on a different ROM, or try one of the alternatives in the mean time
(Though as an aside, this is the first I've heard of someone preferring Samsung's Swype to the Swype beta )
Well I tried to edit my previous post, but apparently it goes flagged and wouldn't let me , so sorry for the double post.
But it looks like you should be able to flash the file in this link to get your stock Samsung keyboard back on AOSP ROMs:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=28785982&postcount=504
the samsung 4.1.1 rom comes with swype built in, in addition to the samsung with swype-like capabilities. it's a bit better than the samsung keyboard.
swiftkey flow beta is nice. my preference is the vanilla 4.2 keyboard. Those with Titanium Backup can convert either of these keyboards to system apps to avoid the "non system keyboard" security messages.
