you cant root that firmware,
should search this has been discussed
But you will need to flash back to .42, then root it then do ota upgrade
when you have flashed .42 DO NOT remove anything or change anything then do OTA update to .62

Rooting .62
You can root .62 if u have a unlocked bootloader.
If not, downgrade it to .42 firmware using flashtool 0.6.7.0 and then root .42 using flashtool itself...
the best n safe way...
Root .42 & Update to .62 OTA
If u want to update OTA ........
a) Your Boot loader should not be unlocked (Default setting by Sony Ericsson)
b) Root your phone which is running on .42 firmware using the latest Flashtools v 0.6.8
Note :
i.First install Flash tool.
ii.Connect the phone in Flash Mode
iii.Flash it with 4.0.2.A.0.42
iv.Turn on the phone when flashing complete
v.Connect the phone with usb debbuging enabled.
vi.Open the Flashtool
vii. Then press the lock icon on flashtool.
viii.Phone will automatically reeboot after done
c) After rooting update your phone OTA
You can try using Wifi/3G/Edge

Basically, start with stock .42, which you're on just now I presume. Read and use the files here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1321582 and then check for updates on the phone(ota). If you use pc companion then you'll lose root. Basically, if you want to keep root then you may find you need to stay on .42(it depends on your region/provider if it's available). If you want .62 firmware then it's not rootable yet.

Hi
I am looking to fully reset my arc to orignal sony Ericsson fw
so can someone point me to the latest stock fw (preferably India fw) and the guide on how to flash it
My bootloader is unlocked and i am using CM10 right now
Sent from my Xperia Arc using xda premium
If you want to get country specific software best way is to restore via Sony Update Service, but you need to relock your bootloader to use that method. For unlocked bootloader you can use flashtool to flash a ftf file but I cannot guarantee that it is India stock firmware.

Relock ftf : "C:\Flashtool\firmwares\X10_V1_BLRelock.ftf"
u dont need to unlock your bootloader just:
Download ftf file from here: http://www.qosmodro.me/2013/01/all-xperia-2011-official-stock-firmware.html
and flash it via flashtool.

If that website did not have the ftf file he will need to relock the bootloader to use SUS. SUS will determine his location and let him download the specific firmware for his phone since he was looking for Generic India firmware.

SUS is noob friendly and you don't have to find the files on the internet. The program will download it for you.

If you know how to use flashtool, you can download the ftf file from the link from the previous post and flash using flashtool. If you're not sure how to use it then use SUS, but relock the bootloader before using SUS.

Hi guys,
My friend just gave me his old xperia arc and I want to root it, unlock bootloader and flash super jellybean 6.0. I have a xperia play running cm10 so I'm not a complete noob. however, I can't seem to be able to root the xperia arc. I tried using flashtool and superone click without anyluck
Some details about the phone that might help
Xperia Arc unlocked
Model LT15a
Running stock 2.3.4
4.0.2.A.0.62 firmware
Do I have to down grade or update the firmware? or would unlocking the bootloader and then flashing a kernel be any faster?
Thanks in advance :good:

tried the eroot thing and the doomlord toolkit but it didn't work :crying: any more ideas?
If you're flashing a custom ROM root is not required. Just flash a custom kernel for your custom ROM that comes with a recovery so you can flash the ROM in recovery.

Did you check USB Debugging,Unknown sources, and go to connectivity as USB connection mode chose Mass storage mode(MSC)
Don't turn off the phone, turn on the application for rooting(eroot) and then connect your phone and just once click on root and what until it finishes.

You can unlock your bootloader, flash a custom kernel using fastboot then flash a custom ROM. Root is not required since the custom ROM is already rooted.
