Hi,
I thought that to install wiui stable (2.2.3) all i had to do was go to recovery and install from zip to install wiui. I'm coming from CM7.2 quarx, but i didn't think that'd be a problem.
After the first install, it went fine, except there were tons of Force Closes (first for launcher) so i couldn't even use the phone. I then flashed the launcher pro for wiui .zip and then it booted up, but had different FCs (android.media process, and a couple others, i can't remember)
So after, i decided to reflsh to cm7.2, and it's fine. all my contacts are gone, and homescreensetups, etc. but it looks like all my apps are there, mms, call hstory, etc.
I then tried to reinstall wiui again, and now it's stuck in boot loop. I've tried wiping cache and dalvik, i just don't know what else to do.
If anyone can spare the time to help, i'd greatly appreciate it.
thank you
simple method..
flash CM7.2 again..backup all ur apps with the help of titanium backup...
go to recovery...wipe data..then flash wiui..wipe cache and delvik cache...reboot...
install titanium backup..restore all ur apps..
Advice for future..to avoid force closes, always wipe date before shifting to other ROMs!
Ye thanks, i did that. but when i restored my apps i got the FCs again. maybe something in my data is incompatible w/ wiui? oh well, I've gone back to CM7.2 again. but now i had to use sync[ix app to get all the pics back to my contacts. not sure why it didn't work like it did before.
The times I've done that, I've shut down the phone and restart because a simple reboot didn't do the job. Also, I run ROM Manager and fix permissions. I can't tell you the last time I had an FC.

Just restore the apps and not the app data, this is a problem I had when moving from CM7 to WIUI.
First run of WIUI I had loads of FC's. I wiped data, installed zip, wiped cache and dalvic again, then when going through Titanium backup I didnt restore the app data.
I have had no problems since then.
hope that helps, WIUI is really nice

Hello everyone,
First off i wanna say how amazing this forum is and I have been getting my info from here since i had my Qtec S100. Thank you all for doing this.
Now to my question, i am a proud owner of a desire HD which atm has the stock rom on it
I experience force quits on the market application everytime i try to access an app in there or when i try and access my apps.
Steps i have tried and have not worked so far
-clear cache, clear data on the market application and reboot
-clear cache, clear data on Google services Framework
-unistalled and reinstalled market
nothing has worked so far
browsing through the market works fine, as soon as you try to access any application page or my apps it force quits
Anyone has any insight on why is this occuring?Any solutions available?
Thank you in advance for your answers
Just o clarify you have got root ? if so then you have done a nadroid backup (through clockwork recovery) Best option in my eyes is to wipe and reflash recovery image....failing that (if you have no nandorid backup) then just flash a new nightly rom or new gingerbread rc1 rom....but read the roms post carefully prior to flashing....if thatt still doesnt work then im stumped
Have you tried to reboot your phone after you cleared data/cache??
Thanks for the answers,
The is not rooted atm, so no backup here
I have rebooted the phone several times including after clearing caches etc
It is kinda frustrating, so the only actual solution would be to flash a rom?

I am afraid even that would not solve your problem. If i were you, i would try to hard reset my phone first. Ofc, you are going to loose your data so you should do a backup...
well i have all my info online on htc sense and google, the only thing bothering me atm is the saves on my applications, if i do a backup will they be saved?

You can use mybackup to backup your apps+data. I have never tried this so i do not know 100%. But i m quite sure that it should work without any problem.
I searched the forum for something similar to no avail, so if I missed it, I apologize. So I had been running CM 6 stable for a month and everything was great. Hadn't upgraded kernels, or any other modifications. Turned my phone off for the night last night, and when it came back on, stuck in bootloop for no good reason why. So, oh well, I'll just flash a new ROM, no big deal, then tried CM7RC, it boots, I use titanium backup to restore everything, it all works well, until I reboot the phone again, and bam, right back to bootloop, but this time with CM7. I'm completely out of ideas, any help would be appreciated. I've wiped davlik, cache, did factory reset, everything I can think of.
Thanks ahead of time.
Try fixing permissions in recovery, if that fails then try wiping ALL data and installing CM again. If that doesn't work, try a Sense ROM, it might be an AOSP problem
so here's an update to my problem so far. What I had left out earlier was that I could install a new ROM, and I could reboot my phone and it would work fine. Not until I used Titanium Backup and restored all of my apps and settings did I run into a problem. With that said, I did as PGleo86 said. This time, it worked just as it had before. Phone was fine, until I restored data. So I thought about what I had installed last. So the last time I wiped everything and installed CM7, I used Titanium Backup, but this time I omitted a few programs and settings, namely, Amazon App Store and Angry Birds Rio. This time when I rebooted, it worked fine. So I am slowly going to restore the settings, apps, and data I omitted one at a time and reboot my phone to see if any of them put me into boot loop. Has anyone heard of anything like this before? Particularly with Amazon App Store or Angry Birds Rio? (I did recently upgrade my version of Swype as well)

From what I understand, its restoring the data that is killin it. You can restore all the apps you like, but when you start restoring data, it seriously screws with alot of roms. You will keep having the issue as long as your restoring data. Good luck dude
This may take a while but try reloading a few apps at a time to see which on in particular is causing the issue. I saw a post like this somewhere on this massive forum, but the person found out it was one app that was killing the boot process.
Different roms store data in different places. So titanium is writing data to somewhere it shouldn't be.
Hi,
I installed the AceSMod007 v14 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113070) yesterday and the market app stopped downloading applications since then. All I get is the "Starting download" message and "Application failed to download" about half a minute later.
It's the same for both: updates and new downloads.
What's more annoying is that this problem didn't go away even after a full wipe, cache wipe, dalvik wipe, instalation of a different rom (one that worked earlier), or restoring a backup. :/
I've also tried to clear the market app data, cache, signing off from GTalk. I've also done everything written here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=945284
Nothing helps. Also, what caught my attention was "signed for Market as Froyo: 2.29.405.5 CL293415 release-keys" on the AceSMod007 thread. Could this have something to do with my problem? (I'm still quite a bit of a noob).
Finally, I've just noticed that I am able to download apps from https://market.android.com/ without any problems, which is a bit strange I think.
Any ideas anyone? Thanks in advance! I'm off to make another full wipe and try different rom...
Ok, looks like everything is better now...
I did another full wipe etc, installed latest InserCoin [NIGHTLY], after the initial accouns setup and so on, it downloaded automaticly a lot of my apps, but failed at some, and the market problem remained.
Then I went to the market.android.com, installed Titanium backup from there and restored all apps, data and settings (backup made before the market problem first occured)... and now it's much better.
Thanks for your resolution.
I have the same problem on AceSMod007 v17 and would be also fix with downloading TitaniumBackup from the Market Homepage and restore all Apps over TB.
But I don't understand why or whats the problem?
Ok it works... that's the main point
Same problem with a MIUI Rom, but nothing to do... doesn't work...

Running CM7 hboot? If yes:

If not, install it regardless. Maybe it helps.
It works, THX
Hi, everyone; adding to the flood of questions...
I've been having some issues after a reboot lately:
- a couple of my apps will disappear. Namely Line Runner and the Merriam Webster Dictionary. I did some searching on this earlier and people who have had similar problems said it was due to the apps being installed on SD. I moved them to the phone, which seemed to solve the problem, but:
- rebooting also seems to make me lose my latest Google Search and Maps updates. The market will prompt me to update these. These apps are already on the phone, so no clue how to fix that one. But the most annoying thing is:
- after reboot, several of my game apps will force close when I try to open them. It seems like it's the more processor-intense ones: Pew Pew, Osmos, Anomaly, World of Goo. I thought maybe it was because of the undervolting/underclocking settings I have (from GideonX), but the apps work fine (running quite smoothly) after I install them, as long as I don't reboot. As soon as I reboot, if I try to open them again I get FC. If I uninstall then reinstall, they run fine again.
Any ideas? I'm running Juggernaut 4.1 with faux's 009u kernel and, as I said above, Gideon's script. I tried one reboot back to faux's stock clock/voltage settings, but I still got FCs on the apps. Granted, I didn't try it again or give it time to settle in or anything.
Any thoughts, folks? Thanks!
fix permissions? fresh wipe and install? clear cache? fiddle around
Ah, forgot to mention. Tried all of the above (fix permissions, clear cache, reflashed ROM, even recovered to my pre-custom ROM backup and reflashed from there).
I did some more testing on this, and I think I've narrowed down the problem. I flashed back to stock voltage/clock settings under faux's kernel, then reinstalled one of the apps I had issues with (Osmos). Upon reboot it still ran okay. So it seems I won't get force closes after reboot IF the app was installed under stock settings.
Does anyone know why undervolting and/or underclocking would cause apps to force close only after reboot?
EDIT:
Well, never mind. I did some more testing, and what I thought worked last time didn't work again. Must have just gotten lucky that time. Sigh.
Try wiping your phone with darksides super wipe and clean flash a rom. Check the md5 sums to make sure youre not installing a bad download

Oh, wow, didn't even know about the existence of that tool. Will definitely give that a try when I have some free time this weekend. Hopefully I can report back with positive news.
Thanks!
Don't want to count my chickens, but using super wipe seems to have done the trick so far! Using super wipe before flashing Jugg 5.0 seems to have gotten rid of my problem of FC apps.
Thanks again!
I have a HTC Wildfire S, rooted, with an AOKP rom.
One day, my phone was running slow, so I rebooted into recovery and cleared dalvik cache and system cache. I rebooted the system and absolutely NOTHING is working. after I unlock the phone, a bunch of processes stop working. Pressing the home button makes Nova Launcher crash. I have since uninstalled it, and still nothing is working.
I can't even turn the phone off using the power button. The only way I can shut the screen off is by removing the battery manually.
EDIT: I tried a factory reset, and it's still the same as before. NOTHING is working. I can go into Settings, that's about it.
A list of apps that stop working:
Link2sd
facebook
outlook
yahoo weather
google.process.gapps
nova launcher
swiftkey
superuser
ETC..
I have attached pictures so you guys can have a sense of what my problem is. Sorry if the pictures are blurry, I had to use my Ipod touch to take them.
Sorry If i have made any errors in this thread. I am new here, I just created an account right now so I can find some help to solve my issue.

Thanks @Guitarfreak12 and @aWFSuser
I did what you guys said, and I reflashed the same ROM and everything is working fine. The only downside, although, is that I have had to re-install all my apps again.
Also, would you guys know what caused the problem? I'd like to know so that I can ensure it doesn't happen again in the future.

Did you had a lot of applications installed and linked along with dalvik to sd-ext?
Then after clearing the cache on reboot the dalvik files will regenerate in the /data partition if there are a lot of apps and the /data overflows then your apps will stop working without the dex files. And clearing the dalvik cache usually doesn't help in increasing speed.........next time you should go into link2sd and use the "clean dalvik cache" option there.........

This actually happens because Link2SD can also link dalvik cache files as well, what the recovery must have deleted would be the symbolic links that the Link2SD script creates, so next time if you want to clear the dalvik cache, use the option found in the Link2sd app
Alright so it seems, instead of using the dalvik cache cleaner on recovery, I should just use the one located in Link2sd. I'll be sure to do that next time to ensure that no problems persist.
Thanks for all the help!
