Yeah, we pruned out accounts which were registered using disposable email addresses.
It seems some legitimate ones were lost. I'd suggest you PM MikeChannon to see if anything can be done about it.
Lesson for anyone searching in future, please don't use disposable email addresses

[Q] Deleted from XDA for nothing?

I had only posted 1 thread, which wasn't spam in anyway, wasn't against the rules. was a simple question which was eventually answered and solved.
Any reason for me being deleted?
If you give us your user name of the account that was deleted perhaps we can let you know the reason, also try contacting the Moderator that deleted your account.
Perhaps your thread was part of the data that was lost during the recent upgrade.
Probably the poster above me is right. I just went into your profile and saw nothing. Usually, mods can see deleted threads, but there was nothing in there.
Also only 1 user is registered to this IP , was probably lost in the DB crash a few days ago
As I understand his/her account was deleted, so he/she created another account to ask this question, so we can´t really know what was the previous username or the threads/posts deleted
this was my previous username. "wonderboy1".
and my thread was deleted as well.
That means you did nothing wrong. Since you used same username, that suggests it was just lost in the database failure. Accounts also don't get deleted except in severe circumstances, usually, where you requested the delete.
So welcome, unfortunate inconvenience, try posting your question again and get stuck in
Indeed, accounts posts and threads that disappeared and were originally created on or arround 25th / 26th Sept are atributable to the server problem and the restoration of the day old saved database.
User accounts will need to re-created. Thank you to all those who have been very understanding about this and to the one and only guy who told me to "go to hell" - well I got news for you, I'm already sitting in a big firey chair and my horns are pointing straight at you - welcome to my domain!

Changing GMAIL account linked to market

This has been asked in a few different forums but I was hoping someone with some developing/coding knowledge may be able to help..
Is it possible to change the gmail account associated with the market on a phone WITHOUT doing a factory reset?
Hoping someone with knowledge of the OS may have a little more insight!
Looks like the 1st account you set up cannot be removed without a reset, at least from what I've tried.
Even if you add a second Gmail account, you can remove the 2nd one, but not the 1st or primary account.
I know that, I was thinking perhaps there is a file somewhere buried on the phone that contains this info that can be edited and pushed back onto the phone after you edit it, if you have root
you can not change the email w/o a factory reset.
doing that will let you change the email associated with the market/phone
(primary email account), but you will loose
all purchased market apps, there is currently no way to do that.
Google knows this is the case.....unless its changed when i checked 2 weeks ago

Like I said, I know thats the standard answer, but the gmail account has to be stored in a file somewhere on the device, I thought maybe a dev knew where it was and/or how to edit/changes it without resetting....

Not necessarily. Could be stored in the cloud and linked to your device ID. Don't know for sure, but it's possible.

Maybe, that's why I asked =)
Apps are tied to your account, not your device.
I don't believe there is a way to transfer account details between email address. This is something that would reside on google's end, not on your phone.

I dont believe this is at all what the OP was asking, he just wants to change his primary gmail account linked to his android without doing a wipe. i dont recall him asking about any "apps" other than the market itself
as far i know, this is not posible. i would recomend using an app like titanium backup to backup all your programs and then do a reset, and restore the apps.
good luck, i hope you find the answer your looking for

Why do you want to do this? If we know that, we might be able to offer an alternate solution.

Some people use more than one gmail account, if you enter the wrong one in the setup process you are stuck unless you do a factory reset. I think that's why he's asking.

Uh...what do you think the link between the market and the gmail account is for?
"his gmail account linked to his android"?
You gmail account isn't linked to any physical device.

If you accidentally entered the wrong info during setup, just wipe and start over right away (it's not like you're going to lose anything).

Some people don't realize this until they are into the setup a ways. It's a reasonable question, just don't think there is anyone out there that knows where that info would be. It has to be stored on the phone or a factory reset wouldn't fix it. Although i think this might be in the wrong forum

Possibly, but I thought if ANYONE would know where it's stored it would be one of these devs who have gone through the whole filesystem... maybe one of them could jump in?!?

thats odd, i seem to have issues when trying to login to one gmail account from multiple android devices. after it is synced with one device, and i add it to another, the first device will not sync...
I know any paid apps are linked to the gmail account used to purchase them. Nowhere has the OP said anything about apps, paid or otherwise. The question was simple;
Can I change my primary gmail address my phone is syncing with, and do it without doing a factory reset?
now others have for some reason been compelled to start telling the OP what he can and cant do with apps linked to the gmail account
thats like going to a mechanic and asking him what the sound your breaks are making means, and the mechanic saying "well if you drive into something your airbags are gonna go off"

The OP won't tell us why this is so important. Backing everything up with Titanium Backup, wiping, setting up with the correct account, and then restoring would have taken less time than this thread has existed.
The only explanation I can think of is that the OP is trying to keep paid apps from the current account. There's no other reason to be going through all this hassle.
Following from this (completely reasonable) assumption, people feel compelled to inform the OP that this won't work, since the paid apps will be tied to the previous account. Google's new licensing system is going to make this even more difficult.

But if you do drive into something, most times your airbags will deploy. I think the mechanic is making a valid point and merely trying to warn you.

Hacker attack on xda-developers?

Hi all,
today, I got an email to the address I used to register at the XDA developers forum.
It was a unique address ([email protected]), therefore, I am concerned, that member data from XDA-Developers has been stolen.
Can someone confirm this?
Or did someone else get spam mails to their private addresses?
Best,

There is a thread in this forum where a few others have had this issue...
We have investigated though and cannot find anything to suggest a compromise...
I have noticed a trend in that it only seems to affect users who have been registered a long time (circa 2008/2009), but I have nothing quantitative to back that up with.
Also even if it was the case, we are again not aware of any compromise then...
I've been hit with something similar but it lead to a pr0n site instead.
It said you are a recognized developer, which is false, I never applied for it.
Could some of these ads be a culprit?

Email Sync Issues

Hey guys so i had 2 of my yahoo accounts synced with the stock email app and it worked fine for a few days than all of a sudden it kept saying sign in fail and incorrect password when the password was infact correct. If i delete the accounts and readd them i log in and sync all my emails but the next time it goes to update it says sign in fail again....really annoying, any idea what is causing this? Had no such problems on my S3.
Im running everything stock right now. Thx for the help!
anybody?? am i the only one with this issue?
Yes I believe it has to do with the yahoo servers. Annoying.

I'm having similar isssues with Yahoo. It will dingdong telling me the same thing, that it cannot load. But it seems to work ok after closing error message. And it does not do it all the time. I don't want to download the Yahoo app because seeing as how I cannot register my gmail account in the native app at all, I'd have to use three separate email apps to see all my email accounts. I also have a juno email account which works fine.
bump until someone decides to enlighten us
Happened to me too but when in wifi it works fine. But I haven't seen it do it in a while.

guess ill just use the yahoo app then...

Help! I'm not receiving email alerts for all the threads on xda I'm subscribed to

Hello,
I'm experiencing a strange kind of technical problem with the xda forum: I'm not regularly receiving the email alerts for all the threads I'm subscribed to (I'm actually subscribed to 164 different threads). This happens since my registration to the forum in 2014.
I strangely receive only some notifications and quite rarely, and they are about only some of the threads I'm subscribed to, this despite the fact that most of these 164 threads subscriptions are set to "Daily" notifications on my settings.
Those notifications seems to be sent to me randomly (I'm suscribed to those threads in the same way that I'm subscribed to the other ones, and I never actively posted on most of those threads).
I've double checked the settings on my user panel, and my e-mail spam filter is totally ok.
Is there by chance a maximum number of email alerts from subscribed threads that an user can receive?
Do you guys have an idea about why this could happen?
Do you think that it would be possible to contact someone of the forum staff in order to ask for technical help?
Thank you in advance!
W.
I've made a change to your account. See if you get any notification emails now?
Thank you for your reply, the_scotsman. Unfortunately nothing changed and auctually I didn't even receice a notification for your answer to this post as well (I've just discovered it by visiting the post manually).
I did a quick search and it appears that other users did experience the same problemin the past/are experiencing it.
Do you have an idea about how we could try to fix this problem? It would be very helpful for me.
Thank you very much again,
W.

Hmmm....that's strange.
I wonder if @MikeChannon has any ideas as to what the problem might be?
I can't see anything wrong with your user account settings. Let's see if he has any suggestions.
This time I just did regularly receive the email notifications about both your reply and the quote, but the system for example completely missed your first reply on the 24th of August, and, as an example, the same did happen with my followed threads that I'm subscribed to (with daily notifications): during the last week I did receive only 2 email notifications instead of 11. These 2 notifications are about threads that the system seems to always notify me about, while I never received any email notification about the other 9 threads that the system skipped this week.
That's indeed very strange. I'm sure that my e-mail box is totally fine, I'm actively participating to many other forums without problems. My spam folder looks also clean.
Any help would be really very appreciated. Thanks again!

Our notifications are sent out via a gmail account and a few days ago we noticed google was rate limiting us. In theory that should only mean a delay but it seems emails don't actually get through at all in some cases. It MAY be related to this.
Please report back if this continues.
Mike
Thank you for your reply Mike.
The thing is that I'm experiencing this problem since the beginning, right after my registration to the forum back in 2014.
At the moment I'm subscribed with daily notification to 169 threads but I'm receiving the email notification for only a few of them (and it has always happened like that). When I connect to my user control panel I can clearly go throught my subscribed threads and spot many threads that have been recently updated without any notification on my email box (actually the main part of them).
I'm pretty sure that my email account is fine but I can't really imagine what could be the problem.
I'm open to any kind suggestion. Being able to fix this problem would really help me.
Thanks again.
W.
I'm sorry to come back writing and (bothering you guys) here, but it looks like that I really can't resolve this issue myself.
Recently I even switched the email account linked to my xda profile to another address hosted by another provider (Hotmail) but nothing has changed: I still don't receive the large part of the email alerts from the threads I'm following.
Since having switched to another e-mail address should have eliminated the possibility of blocks or filters on my (e-mail side) frankly I really don't know what to do now.
Being able to receive updates from the threads I'm following would be incredibly helpful and would surely help me to engage more with the community.
I know that, since this is a free forum (but I would even pay a subscription if it could help with this issue!), I can't demand a prompt resolution to this technical issue. But I'm wondering which could be the reason behind this problem:
could it be possible that my account is still in a kind of "limited" mode?
could it be possible that there's a limit to the number of e-mail alerts that a user can receive (even if, as from my case, this limit would be extremely low, and it also looks like I'm not receiving the alerts with consistency)?
Your account definitely isn't restricted in any way, it looks completely normal. I've triple checked, and checked again.
This might be something that the server admin @bitpushr can perhaps provide some input, as I'm out of ideas. We've checked everything we can from our side.
Thanks again for your assistence @the_scotsman, I trust you and I know that you have already tried everything you could; I'm really grateful for it.
I also know that it could seem a strange problem and I'm sorry for it; at this point I would eventually be even willing to move my account to any other email address for you guys to check.
I'm thinking about other alternative solutions. What if i open a new account, would it be eventually possible to copy all my thread subscriptions (176 subscribed threads) on it?
Thank you very much again

Hello, what do you mean with "correct solution"?
My idea was to open a new account and to "migrate" or copy my thread subscriptions to it, but actually no forum moderator or admin did reply to my message to let me know if that was possible....
At the moment unfortunately my issue is still unresolved

Hello there, sorry if I hijack this thread but I got the same problem. In general, it's the opposite problem (spam), but in this case, I don't receive emails from my subscription, despite having "checked" all threads and chose "instant email notification" in me profile settings.
Sorry If I missed a setting.
It worked today. I've got one for a quote and one for an answer to a thread I subscribed.
I don't know if you changed something.
Well I spoke too soon. Again I did not receive an instant email in a thread I subscribed.

Too bad, I like email notifications. I think Tapatalk is for mobile users and I browse XDA only from my PC.
