Bought HTC Desire Hd but cannot download any app. My phone was sold for the arabiic market and it does not support android market. I am in the UK and would like to be avble to download apps. Is there a way I could rest my phone or install Android Market?

Should just be able to install the apk if you can find it. There are a few here in the apps forum, but probably best trying the desire hd apps forum if that's what you have. This is the original desire

You need to find ruu for your country or better option is to root your phone and flash some custom rom (here some info). Btw. it's Desire not DHD section.

hey friends yesterday i bought htc desire hd......now when i was going to this forum to see how to root.....but it has made me totaaly confused.........i just want to know how to root my DHD version 1.84.720.3........i was using sony xperia x10 earlier.....it was rooted by superoneclick.........i used that to root ........i say device is rooted......but when i try to open rootexplorer it says devic is not rooted.......please guide me how to root DHD version1.84.720.3.......

You will have to downgrade in order to root. Once downgraded you can then upgrade again.

thank you guys for your help......now i have downgraded my dhd to 1.32 and rooted it.....but now the question is when i try to update it.....it shows my phone is updated......there is no update found.........so how can i update to 1.84 or higher........
You wait. It's not instant. READ THE FORUMS.
You will of course lose root if you update the ota. Curious to know why you bothered if this was your intention.
You will need radio s-off to avoid having to downgrade again after the update.

i know there are lots of tutorials regarding this... but believe me i cant get anything clear
i have just got my bro's htc desire, and i want to update from 2.2 to 2.3 , i tried to search the forum, but honestly nothing gone seriously inside me, (new to android)

Go to HTC developer website. Search desire gingerbread official update, download it to pc, connect phone to pc via usb cable, start the downloaded file, wait 20-30 minutes. Done. Optional ( Now go to revolutionary website for rooting and s-off. )
